Trish, how is the diet going? Any improvement?

I guess we are all just busy......lol.......I'm about to head of for an hour and twenty minute drive just to get an X-ray of my knee..........I've finally bitten the bullet and am seeng my orthopedist on Tuesday about having the other knee replaced, hence the X-ray.  My trip to Canberra sealed the deal for me as with little walking I was in so much pain for a couple of days before I saw you I could barely move. It was a really hard decision to make as. Now know the amount of pain etc that that op entails and let me tell you, I'm not looking forward to it but I am looking forward to being pain free this time next year.

    My fly........er no, drive.....lol.

Take care!  Love n hugs.    Chrissy

    Hi Trish

I've been lurking so I had better give everyone an update. I seem to be in Adelaide 6 days a week nowadays and still doing Yoga and volunteer work on the Friday here in Victor Harbor. I am loving it, and I do know that I need to pace myself better, so, starting next week,  I will be starting to co-ordinate a few things on the same day so that I have an extra day here in Victor Harbor.( I thought that I had a meeting to go to today but when I arrived, I realised that it is next Thursday, lol. So I thought that is a good excuse to get on the computer and say hello.

I had my CT scan yesterday which was booked at 9.15 and then changed to 10.15 - OK no probs, I said. I had already had to fast and then drink a lot of water for an hour whilst I was in the waiting room. No problems.... Then when they positioned me for the CT scan.... The nurse had trouble getting my vein, so she called her supervisor after trying 3 times. Her supervisor tried twice and then he called another person who was more experienced??? in getting problem veins. NOPE, he couldn't get a vein either after trying and trying and I was watching the nurse's face as she was holding my other hand and boy... was she pulling awful faces... It must have been very painful for her! I told him it was and 8 out of 10 pain score for me. SO .... Off to the ultrasound room and after about 20 to 30 minutes (almost got an artery instead until  he asked to use the doppler and realised that it wasn't a vein but an artery) Finally, a vein was found (a pretty deep vein by the way and I still have the bruise(s) to prove it), and my CT scan went without any hitches. I got out at 12.35 and then was asked to wait for my films by the receptionist. I told her I would pick them up the next day as I had to be at a meeting at 1pm and I was starving!. The meeting also finished late and then I drove to Adelaide to help my son with the grand children as the 14 month old had a high temperature. I got home at 8pm yesterday.

While I was typing this my husband said that he would drive to Adelaide for me today to pick up GD1 as she will be staying with us until Sunday, so that saves me a 4 hour round trip and some valuable time to myself. Winking

I have to wait for the CT scan results till 25 March as that is my next Onc appointment ...but my GP said that she will phone me when she gets them just to put my mind at ease. ( We both have decided that the tumours will be gone lol). I will give everyone an update.

Trish, I was watching DR OZ the other night as I tape my shows (time management lol) and there was a segment about Ovarian Cancer, and with  the symptoms I thought of you. I still have the tape on a USB stick and I can post it to you, and I certainly hope that it isnt the case, but it is very hard to detect and very easily missed. I am sure that I am wrong but I would rather say what is on my mind instead not saying  anything at all xxx

I hope everyone else is OK and, Karen, you are in my thoughts daily. Stay strong and enjoy that gorgeous grand son of yours and let us know how you are going. xxx

    Warm hugs

    Mandy xxx

Hi Chrissy - good you are getting something done about your knee - you'll be a new girl next year!  Diet is sort of on, and sort of off lol. I have to eat as much gluten as I can tolerate until next Thursday when I have a blood test for Celiac disease. I'm not really sure why I need to do this as he thinks it's IBS and the Celiac blood test isn't conclusive, but I'll have it done (I'm have a blood test then anyway for the onc, so all in one). I have cut lactose out of my diet, and so far so good, but all the other things (there are a lot) I have to cut out, I'll be doing over the next week (apart from gluten). If you are all confused, then join the club, I am too a bit lol.

Mandy - OMG you make me tired just reading about all you are doing!! Thanks for the heads up about the ovarian cancer - the gynie didn't think it was that, but if you don't mind mailing me the usb, it would be worth looking at. How big is the file? I have dropbox, so if it isn't huge, and depending on your internet limit, that might be easier?  Let me know. And don't apologise for looking out for me you silly woman lol xoxo

i was up early this morning nd doing my sheep exersise, thats chasing the darn things round the paddock about ten times, to go to  sale. At least i did not trip over today and then get run over by one of them and tramp on my arm.  we got Poppy the dog, she is not  trained for sheep mustering, quite useless most of the time, but today she did good  and it was another being  in paddock and she barked at the right time and they went thru the gate, Yay 3 cheers for poppy,.after dropping sheep to sale so we had a maccas breaky as we were up early and got her a susage mcmuffin. lol and she  turned her nose up, maybe she would  of liked the bacon and egg one, she enjoyed the  outing in the  truck more lol.. she is a boarder collie, usually good sheep rounder uppers,  anyways hope everybody is ok, i have gym today at one and then we wjill go and pick any sheep up that did  not get sold, hope they all did. cheers ladies

Awe Jenn I do hope you get over the flu soon............it sure does make you feel like crap.

Annette I want whatever you are taking!  I really don't know where you get your energy!  Chasing sheep indeed!........lol.......been there done that and it almost killed me and I was much younger and waaaaay fitter too!

I can just see Poppy dog leaning with her face into the wind, tongue lolling as she travels in the back of the ute!  Don't dogs just love doing that?  I'm pretty positive that she enjoyed the outing way more that the macas that she was offered as a job well done treat..........lol.

What a day yesterday!  Quick trip down to the radiologist to get the xray of my knee for the ortho on Tuesday, a three hour round trip...........sometimes living in the country is not so good.  Took advantage of being there and went to Spotlight to get some more wool so I can finish the crochet blanket I have been working on since January.  It began life as a throw but I got a little carried away, not watching what I was doing and made the darn thing lop sided so I have had to square it up.........lol........yup, the throw has morphed into a blanket and if I keep going it could just end up a bed spread........hahahahaha.

I'm going out on Saturday night with my SIL.  In Moonta near where SIL lives the restaurant where we had the Gatzby fundraiser is doing a swing night and is putting on a four course dinner with a twenty piece swing band doing Glen Miller...........I cant wait!!!!   Love that music!!!!

    Enjoy you Friday all!

    Love n hugs.    Chrissy

I haven't been around as I've been busy with work.... and my iPad screen has gone haywire so I need to use the laptop and after working on a computer all day I haven't felt like turning it on....I'll probably have to replace the iPad on the weekend so luckily I've got a couple of $'s put aside....

Judy, sounds like a wonderful trip...celebrate finishing with Tamoxifen!!!

Best wishes everyone...looking forward to more news...

    hi ladies

things are going really fast on here!!! Was away last wednesday until sunday just gone in melbourne at a speech workshop. You wouldnt know it but I have a stutter. Ive had it since i was very young. Went to the mcguire program its been on a few of the current affair shows. Its not a cure for stuttering but it deals with not just the physical aspects of speech it deals with it very holistically including the psychological reasons and effects of stuttering. It is taught by others who are recovering stutterers not speech pathologists so they know how it feels not to be able to express yourself in the way everyone else does.

It was an intensive course for four days and we had to shut ourselves off from the outside world basically so we had no distractions at all. Lots of tools and techniques to reduce the stress that stutterers feel. the highlight was after we had learned all the tools the main challenge was to make a public speech in the atrium in federation square to all the other new students and past program graduates (quite a few came back to do another course and to help the newies). I was PACKING it with nerves but the best bit was that all the other students were all so supportive of everyone who went up to do their speech (they were videoed as well). Eventually it was my turn at the start i was so nervous but as i started to feel all the support of the people i had met and the coaches i felt less nervous. When i had finished the emotion of it all just overwhelmed me but they were happy tears i think...i couldnt hold back the feelings of just having done something that I thought i could never do before this course but I did!! My mum was there with me and she couldnt stop crying and hugging me either. Was really sad to have to leave melbourne on the last day but i had met some great people who have taught me lots of things and the best one is to believe in myself and dont hold back keep pushing forward despite any obstacles. I have definetly noticed the difference in myself and the rise in confidence and others are starting to as well.

I reckon the best is yet to come but it is a life long amount of practice i need to do to keep these techniques going so i dont go backwards... feel like if i can get this under control more my whole world will start to change!

Well Done Melp, am very happy and proud of you. you will get so good and your confidence will increase  to great lengths. I know stutterer's find it so difficult and people these day's have not got the patience to listen putting a person that stutters into  very low confidence in them selves. so keep up the great work.  cheers.

Judy - enjoy your holiday, and also enjoy being off Tamox Nerdy I bet that feels good!

Mel - what a wonderful post, I am so proud of you.  Yes - you can do anything you set your mind to, and now onto bigger and better things.

Well girls, I'm very cautiously optimistic!  I haven't gone off gluten yet as I'm having the blood test on Friday, but I have cut out lactose.  I decided it was the simple thing to cut out before starting on this very complicated IBS diet. It's been nine days now, and I haven't had any pain in that whole nine days.  I'm a bit gobsmacked that it might be something so simple.  I'm hoping it is. Although, when I went off the gluten for almost six weeks last year, I noticed an immediate improvement, but it didn't take long for the pain to come back. So - as I say, I'm cautiously optimistic. I don't think I went this long on the gluten free.

After my blood test I'll also cut gluten out, then if the pain does come back, I'll go on the full low FODMAP diet and see how that goes.

    Yay!!

    Trish

    xoxo

Trish, things looking up for you slightly. My hubby is lactose in tolereant, he has little bits of dairy food, like cheese,  and cream, too much dairy, he has the terrible tummy aches and  spends most of day on the throne. he is almost bent over with the pain in the gut and its like an hour after he has had it.  he had that ambrosia for christmas  tea, and man he paid for it, i wont be maikg it again, thanks Goodness i only let him have one helping, he wanted more, but i said, no you will most likely get a gut ache after that ans he sure did. he seems ok with yougurt though, so make it with more yogurt and custard and cut the cream, that was the killer.

we were looking forward to some rain this weekend, and there was supposed to be a big storm, ours here lasted  with two showers, about half an hour and the rain just  just blew away with the wind, we have alot of that  today, wind. i need an umbrella and i could fly to where i want to go.

well hope  everybody has a good day and had an enjoyable weekend. chrissy hope you enjoyed your sat evening and recovered.  am going to heat up my cuppa, its gone cold.  catch yas' later.

    Hi ya girls!

Home  I am, and bushed!  I had such a good tme on Saturday night!  The meal was incredible and the music was fantastic!  I sure was tapping the toes and couldn't help myself at one point, I even dragged my SIL onto the dance floor!  Now that was fun but boy did I pay for it when I tried to get out of bed on Sunday morning.........errrr, close to lunch time.  Yes, after not getting to bed until after 2 am and dancing I slept in........and my sweet SIL let me.....lol.  I always have a good time when we spend time together as there is always loads of laughter.

Trish, keeping my fingers crossed for you that it is as simple as getting rid is the lactose for you.  SIL is lactose intolerant but has no problem finding lactose free cheese, yogurt, butter and milk at the local supermarket so I doubt you will have any problem finding the same over there.

    Have a great day all!

    Love n hugs.    Chrissy

Annette there were two entrees.......the first was a trio of fish, sesame encrusted salmon, scallop Kilpatrick and wilted cabbage wrapped crab mouse........delicious!   The second entree was two lamb cutlets served with. Curried pea purée, mint jeu and sour cream.  The main was porterhouse (the biggest piece I've ever seen served in a restaurant) served with whole baby green beans, roasted tomatoes and pressed potatoes with a red wine jeu.  There was also a green salad put on the table for those who wanted it and desert was a wine poached pear served with mixed berries and a chocolate sauce.

The whole menu was utterly delicious and very well prepared and served.........my only complaint was there was too much of it!!.......lol.

I went and had my mammogram today, they had to do a second 3D one as my breast is dense but they didn't find anything, yeah!!!

I go back next Tuesday to see the Doctor for my annual check up so that should be it for another year.

Strange going on's here in Perth this week with the Rolling Stones here with all the attention that they are getting also the search for the missing plane from Pearce Air Base not far from where I live. Western Australia getting lots of attention for such an isolated place.
