Awe Karen sometimes some people just don't know how to keep their mouths shut..........I am appalled that you we asked about funeral arrangements as you are so right, that is between you, your husband and your children everyone else will be told at the appropriate time.

Yes do talk to your doc about something to improve your mood, there should be no problems getting something to help you through. Just remember, one step at a time, one day at a time.

Trish, yep I vote and shared on FB so hopefully others are too.   Good luck!  Not long now before we catch up..........SIL and I leave first thing Sat. morning and should be in Canberra Sunday afternoon.......woohoooo!!!!!

    Love n hugs!    Chrissy

Oh Karen - really the hide of some people.  Maybe you should have asked them if they had something planned in the near future and what date would suit them best?  How rude!!  Hope your GP can give you something to help your emotional state, one thing I would recommend is banning rude rellies!  Know too that you are absolutely soaking in love from all of us here ((((hugs))))

Chrissy - it's getting close, can't wait to see you lol.

I have voted for you Trish, and hope you win. I'll get the rest of my friends to vote tonight.

Karen, I have been reading your posts and want to tell you just how hard I am wishing for this treatment to work for you, and to give you lots of wonderful times with that precious baby. You'll be such a wonderful Grandma!

I have followed your journey since coming here just over a year ago, seeing the ups and downs and glimpsing through the window, into this very personal account of yours, has been both interesting and sobering. You're quite a lady, and your strength is something to admire.

I wish only good things for you and yours, and can't wait to read your account of the birth of your new Grandbaby. Hugs to you!

Trish, have just voted again, hope  you win that wonderful prize. Did that issue with her get sorted, she was been a drama  queen at one stage about things, well your photos are getting high marks and gone to the next level. so they are pretty darn fantastic.

Karen, why do people have to go that extra mile to be inquizitive about things that are no concern to them.  that  subject should not even be brought up by any of them,  I find some people really hard to fathom. your focus now is the time  you have with yours and that little boy that will soon be joining you.  keep them close to you,  and forget anyone else, esp  those who want to be butting in, i am so glad you have such a loving family, ie  hubby and kids.. hope the doc can help with giving you something to uplift your emotions, but your entiitled to have any feeling you like and cry if and when you want to, its a good release. Great BIg Hugs.

So I had an MRI on my neck tonight... Have had a bad bout of neck pain with nausea that started last week. Terrible to think that I have to hope it's Fibromyalgia in preference to bc again :-/

Anyway, it's really affecting my quality of life etc so we need to get a handle on what the problem is. I'm back to my GP on Wednesday first thing for the results.

    Hi all

I have a mammogram appointment on the 19th March and a surgical app on 25th march. It's been 2 years now since I found my lump, it's gone so quick.

My brother has come over from Queensland as the 15th was my parents 50th wedding anniversary and the 18th is Mum's 70th birthday. I've also got my sister's 50th Birthday in September so it's a big year.

Hope that everyone has a good week.

    Hi from sunny Qld, girls,

I know I don't post here often but sometimes it seems easier to say nothing when others are having such a hard time of it...but I do wish you all well in your trials and tribulations.

Karen, I know that old saying 'silence is golden' was usually aimed at children, but some adults need to hear it more often.  I find that I just give those uncouth folk who dare to say what they shouldn't, a cold silent stare, and then walk or turn away.   They will know they have said something wrong when you refuse to acknowledge them again. Maybe you can ask your family to keep those people away from you in future.

I celebrated my 67th b'day today, 6th since Stage IV dx, now into my 19th since original dx.  Currently on 5th cycle of Abraxane, tm's down to 10, and balder than my 5mth old grandson.

Local sons took DH, DD and myself out to dinner tonight and we enjoyed that with some nice wines and in between chasing 2 x 3 yr old boys back to the table.   For their age they were quite well behaved  after some I have seen.  Both sets of parents shared the care and welfare of both children and (I can honestly say) no other diners were inconvenienced by them or their antics.....mostly because, being Monday night in a small town, there were no other diners, lol.

Non-local son (Melbourne) sent me a lovely bouquet, which I immediately dubbed, The Bug Farm, as it included two little lady-bugs nestled on the leaves.  Being an avid (NOT Aphid) fan of ABC's 'Miniscule,' I immediately dubbed myself that shows official fan club and these two bugs my assistants...even though they are cheeky little rascals in the show.

I wish I could post a picture of it here but Mozilla won't allow me to do this on this site.

Hubby gave me a pre-paid credit card with which to buy books on the 'net and I'll also buy some brow powder with stencils to use while I'm bald and maybe beyond.  Onc said on last visit a month ago that it might be a good idea to keep going back for top-ups to keep the liver in check for a while, so I don't know how long this baldness thing will last.

It certainly doesn't help to hear him say (while shaking his head like he's never heard of such a thing) that I am so lucky over and over again when the 19 yr thing came up.  I know I'm damn lucky and I wish it came in jars so I could spread it around.

Oh well, the beginning of another year, so I'm not going to hex myself with saying anymore on that score.

    Hugs to all,

    Sheila.

By the way, the little lady-bugs weren't real, just stick-ons by the florist.

Carol, good luck with your mammo and surgical appointment!   As they say, time sure does fly..........I think there is a bit more to the saying but it not quite relevant here..........lol.    It sounds like a year of celebrations for you and your family............it's great to all be able to get together for the important things so I hope lots of fun!

Happy Birthday Sheila!!!  Sounds like you had a nice day and a great dinner out with the family.   Love the story of the lady bugs.......lol.......I thought they were real!   Wow! 19 years!!!   That's great!  Here's hoping there are another 19 in the wind for you.

Love n hugs to all.    Chrissy

Hi girls, gosh we have a hot day again. not as hot as you do, but for us it is really horrible, roll on winter.at least you can make yourself warmer, getting cool is harder, regardless of how much clothing you throw off to keep cool. i am not going to gym today, i went to gym the  other day and they would let me train as my blood oxygen was too low and also my BP, blood sugar was ok, i felt really tired and  i  am bleeding, but do not know whether its menstral or for  other reasons and the blood tests showed the anemia was back. but where is it going, they have done tests and checked the bowel, my theroy is its storing up in the uterus or there is an obstruction there, i have rung and  asked and noone will get back to me,i have scan on tuesday, next week,, i know  its do with that, but have not found the reason why, they want to do it, rads doc was suppose to ring and let me know about a new pill. after i saw her two weeks ago, then i get  the letter for the scan  from the  thyroid and diabetic doctor, well he is a endrocologist, i think is his title. and i rang him yesterday and i was expecting him to call, he normally does contact me himself.to give me the heads up on things, but he is  even silent on this one. i had a blood test to see if i was in menopause and i was supposed to hear back from that regarding new pill she wanted to put me on, i guess i will hear something, just want to know what been done and why.  sorry to moan to you ladies.

Hope you all ok YOU WONDERFUL LADIES.

I agree with everything Ariom and others have said. And written more eloquently than I would

I do keep track of  this thread - we have a great Aussie community on here

My main reason for posting is to wish you Kazzie all the very best and we are all hoping and praying that you will get to meet your grandson and enjoy many hours playing with him

These threads give us hope and encouragement but also the sadder side too and you are very brave to share your story so openly on here- I appreciate your candidness and don't ever feel selfish, you are NOT and at the moment - I reckon it should be all about you !! Sending hugs and very positive vibes - when is the actual due date? Hope he comes early  xxx

    I have voted Trish :)

Chrissy have a lovely visit with Trish.

Karen, I always tell my kids to practice responses to people who are rude, that way they don't think later "I wish I had said....". My DD's favourite is "do you actually realise how bad that makes me feel?"  Although she did tell her MIL to go f**k herself the other day which all things considered was fairly constrained.   I am glad you have your family there for you.

Jenn, hoping you get some straight answers.

I am up for my bone density next week and am due for mammo etc. Sometimes I just do

My MRI came back with no abnormalities. This is GREAT news but bad news because we still don't know what is causing the pain in my shoulder and neck.

I ended up at the LE physio this afternoon and she determined I don't have LE - so that is one more thing ruled out. She has now booked me to see their back/neck specialist physio next Monday afternoon. This is the physio office at the cancer centre i moved to last year for follow-up. They are so much better than the original centre.

I am also off to a survivor's evening of information next Tuesday evening. There now seem to be more evening support things happening in Sydney which is good.

Yay Jenn!!!  That's great news!!! both with the scan and no LE!  Getting to the bottom of pain can sure make looking for a needle in a haystack sound simple but where there is pain there is also a cause.............good luck finding it!

Jenn - great news that there are no abnormalities - but, I hear you girl.  Trying to find the cause for pain, when it's not obvious is a real "pain" sorry. What's the next step for you?

I have an appointment with a gynie today week, to see what he thinks I should do next, I'm guessing a laparoscopy to have a look inside.  If that finds nothing, then there's not a lot more that can be done investigatively - we'll have done everything by then I think.  I did ask both the gastroenterologist and my GP if they thought it could be a "grumbling" appendix and they both, very decisively, said there's no such thing lol. Meanwhile, the pain isn't going away, and at times almost takes my breath away.

Well Canberra was hammered yesterday with an almost "perfect storm".  It was quite a sight to see.  Everyone pretty much stopped work, the sky was completely black - very eerie and when it hit, it was like a whirlwind.  Here at work, there was a lot of wind too - so plenty of trees and branches down.  At home, there was no wind, but the amount of water that fell out of the sky was phenomenal. Our little bit of Canberra got just over 60mm in less than an hour, and then we got three more storms roll in over the next four hours. Absolutely amazing to watch.  Today is cold and clear. Such a change from the heat we've been having.  The rain was very welcome though, we were drying out.

i think we have yr heat Trish, we supposed to get to 32 today and its supposed to be two deg higher than what they say. so could be 34. But she is hot and its not mid day yet.

So hope you can get answer to your pain and jenn too. its fustrating when you can't  get answers to your pain  or replys to your phone calls. the waiting game is hard to bear at times. have a good time with chrissy.

Hope everybody is ok and coping as well as they can do.  meanwhile i will see if i can melt a few un- wanted kgs off in this heat, its actually giving me a headache. so may take something to stop it in it's tracks. take care ladies.

Hi Trish, I beg to differ with the non existent "Grumbling appendix" I used to have awful stomach issues that would come and go. We went on a holiday to Surfers and the night before we left I had one of these episodes. My Mum thought I was putting it on because I didn't want to go home. Sure enough, by the time we drove to Coffs Harbour I was in a bad way and guess what? Burst Appendix!  They told us it wasn't grumbling appendix too!

We had one of those storms last night too. It was really something to watch, and today everything in the garden is looking lush and perky green.

Jenn, I hope you get to the bottom of what is causing your pain, but great to hear the MRI was all clear.

Hi Midnight! I am sorry to read of all the issues you've been having too. I hope you get some answers soon.

I had my dog ear revision on Tuesday. It was a little different than I expected, but I am feeling good now, just about jump out of the chair when I lean back because the incision now curves around my back, and it is pretty tender. Glad it's done now, but can't remove the dressing for 2 weeks. Same rules as the Mx, no reaching, no lifting etc for the 2 weeks, so the joys of hair drying with one hand!

    Take care everyone!

Hi Emma, sorry to have to meet you here. Hope you are coping with this new world of ours. This is a great site for support.

Jenn, wonderful news but hope you find relieve from the pain soon. May I ask which hospital has got a good physiotherapist specialising in issues like ours? I sometimes have swelling issues and want to get on top of it.

Hi Emma - sorry to have to meet you here... :-/ This is a great group though.

Trish - there is such a thing! Our very good friend ended up in hospital the week before Christmas with a bowel obstruction. When they took him into surgery they found that he had had multiple flare ups of appendicitis that had caused scarring bad enough to constrict his bowel. His surgeon at Westmead Hospital is going to have it written up and published as an unusual case study.

Hi Ariom, one of these days I'll have the dog ear revision - it really annoys me under my arm, but I just can't work myself up to another surgery :-)

Interesting views about the grumbling appendix, I've heard from a lot of people that when they've gone into surgery for something else, it was found to be the appendix, my ex husband had one too - so I know very well that they exist, I'm just amused that the medical profession won't admit to it, and I really don't know why.  My GP said it used to be "fashionable"!! Now it's not, I wasn't aware that medical conditions could go in and out of fashion like that. Hmmm.... wonder if bc will ever go out of fashion...

Hi Emma!  Welcome to the Aussie Sisters thread - make yourself at home :-)

I'll be off to the Canberra show today - our work has a stand at the show to promote agriculture, so of course I have to go in and take photos, should be an interesting day.

Hope everyone is as well as they can be.

Trish, another one used to, was a chill in the kidneys, i know that if my back was exposed to the cold air, i woud get an awful sore back, and i got that pahooied by a doc to. i know you can get a grumbling appendix and i had mine out and then they went to deep and severed a nerve, the femoral nerve and i woke up with right leg completely numb and my leg in a brace for a year, off work all that time, ACC, it was medical  misadventure. I felt sorry for the doc who did it as he was trying to own up and his bosses were trying to hush it up. but it was admitted in the end and all came right, the surgeon actually left as he could  not work with dishonesty and came to us in the car park and personally apologised.. i remember in one of the meetings we had. that surgeon trying to say something, and the big boss guy waved him down to shut up.

But the old appendix caused that to happen as they would  not believe it was that and he was tyring to see what else was happening hence the nerve being cut, i had physio  for a year as it takes a month for half a cm to grow back on a nerve and that was a main nerve.. We have another hotty today. phew.  have a good day out Trish.  when do you see chrissy?

Annette I'm leaving for Canberra first thing in the morning and planning on being there Sunday arvo.  I'll be catching up with Trish on Friday before heading home again on the Saturday as both SIL and I have appointments that must be kept on the Monday.   Whirlwind trip but I'm so looking forward to it as I haven't seen my brother and family for a couple of years.

Loads to do before tomorrow including going to Wallaroo to pick up SIL so must go.

Hi Emma, welcome. It sounds like you have been through the works. I fell in a heap when I started my tamox. You feel like it should all be over and it's not. So please utilise this supportive bunch of ladies.

I am feeling so upset. Now my 20yo DS is being investigated for testicular cancer. He tore the muscle off his spine and has been in agony. So he decided while he was at the doctors  to ask about a growing lump in his scrotum. Hopefully we will know more next week. :((
