Annette that is great you are going to the doctor.  Some clear answers would be good, then you will have a direction to go.

My back is ok thanks everyone.  I went and had it worked on by a friend. She always laughs because I hate massages.  The soft 'relaxing' ones really make me uncomfortable, strange I know.  Hers was great, nice and firm and although tender I can walk fine now.

It was interesting, she has a lot of BC clients. I have a lot of shoulder and neck pain which I have been ignoring. She said my shoulder is rolling in permanently and pulling my neck and apparently this is very common with people who have had lots of nodes out (26). She suggested that lifting children as a job should be temporary.  I have been studying so I will keep going with that.

Chrissy fingers crossed that the pop was nothing serious.

    Hugs to everyone x

Ariom - good afternoon! lol about half an hour ago the fog lifted and the sun came out and it is now an absolutely glorious winter day - warm in the sun, not a cloud in the sky and no breeze Smile

Hey Trish, no such luck here, it has been cold and damp all day......the dog won't even go outside! It is too easy to sit and watch movies all day!

Im seeing him at the end of the month. I have researched and most doctors dont recommend a d&c to women with fibroids under 35 unless there is no other option.

Quite a while ago they did say they could try and do a laproscopic myomectomy which would only make a small incision and they could get it out that way. I would prefer that option if thats medically possible.

hi girls Chrissy I spoke too soon hope your leg is on the mend. It has been cold and miserable here in Bendigo I am a borderline diabetic but have been making myself walk about 3.8 to 4km per day and eating a low gi diet had my blood sugars checked every 3 months and they have been perfect so it really does pay off. It's hard to get going but I feel so much better when I make the effort daily. I hope everyone's backs are ok lol

HI Girls, went to the Doc, he says i have a rather deep curvature to the spine which makes it look like a lump, he suggests a new mattress maybe in order or turn it over,  and see if that improoves it also has given me a whole lot of panadol and anti biotic as i have tummy wound from a cat  scratch and its infected. he said, i have to be careful with wounds, with the diabetes. and all this stress with everything is not helping, i told him and he said, no wonder your blood sugars are all over the place, you are going to try and eliminate some stress there. i did also get a finger prick machine and have to do a three day a week thing and record it so they can be getting a pattern and may  seing why sugars so high.. be back later

Hi Annette, well that wasn't too bad a result from the Doctor. You'll feel better if you turn that mattress or get a new one. I hated sleeping on the water bed that Colin always had, but when we researched and found that he could actually sleep on a really good latex mattress we went out and bought one. It has been the best thing ever, for me, just the change from the waterbed was indescribable, but for Colin, this is a great support and no pressure spots.

I am sure you'll find things will settle down once you have all this worry out of your life. Take care!

Alyson, have a safe trip home to NZ and would love to hear about your meeting up with the others.

I hope everyone is keeping well and warm....nearly at another weekend, doesn't time fly!

Annette, yes stress can do bad things, glad to read that you are getting some good advice.

Delvzy, great work with the exercise especially in the cold weather.

Ariom, I'd never thought about getting a latex mattress....could be something to look into when I buy my next mattress as both DH and I have back troubles.

Alyson, looking forward to hearing the stories.

I'm feeling a little down this afternoon.  I went to the oncologist for my regular check up and my blood test this week showed elevated LFTs.  She thinks it could be the shingles...or something else is lowering my immune system and that caused the shingles. So, a bone scan, abdominal ultrasound and another blood test, including Hep tests are now scheduled next week and I'm back to see her the first week of July.  So much for feeling refreshed after my holiday.  On a positive note, I'm getting a thorough investigation!

    Take care everyone!

Tammy what are LFT's forgive my ignorance. Get your vitamin D and Zinc levels checked they are very important for the immune system. I have IVC vitamin C and Zinc done every winter .Alyson looking forward to hearing of your travels I am dreaming of nice hot beaches but it won't happen this year. Midnight have you thought about getting a meditation or relaxation CD they really work and even 10 mins can change all your brainwaves and relax your whole system for hours . Try and keep warm everyone remember a brisk walk will get that blood flowing and keep you warm for hours!

Delvzy, LFT is Liver Function Test.  Some of my liver enzymes are high.  I did have Vit D tested and it was OK....at least that was good!

Sue I'm glad to hear that........I know the op is nasty and the recovery is long but the end results are all worth it or I wouldn't have gone back for a second time.  Exercises are going well for me and I am getting out and a bout (went out to dinner last night) so I'm on the mend.  I still have pain and my skin on the knee is super sensitive because of the cut nerves but that will settle soon.  I had and have maintained a ninety degree bend but the knee still has a lot of swelling so makes it hard to push for more but I keep trying........lol.

Let me know how you get on..........that first one is scary but you can do it!

    Love n hugs.    Chrissy

I'm seeing someone on Tuesday, but I'm not sure about him - he was too easy to get in to see. I also have an apt with another one on July 4 but he only operates on the southside which isn't too good. I'll keep that apt until I've met the guy on Tuesday and see what I think of him. If I don't like him, we'll go to someone else.

Sue it's important to be happy with and have confidence in your surgeon so get as many appointments as you need to find the right one for you.  I know you well enough to say, don't use the not sure about your surgeon as an excuse to keep putting off the inevitable........lol.  I know this is a last resort for you but in all honesty, once you have gotten through the initial pain and discomfort and have had time to heal, you will wonder why you kept putting it off in the first place.

    Good luck with your search!

Tammy - are you feeling better too? (((hugs))))

Midnight, glad your dr found the cause for your lump, that will be a load off your mind Smile

Morning all, from chilly Gippsland, I think it is about 4c. We didn't get the gale force winds that were predicted but boy is it cold today!

I hope your knee has kept improving Chrissy and everyone else is keeping warm and doing well. Take it easy..M

Hi girls!  We have had very high winds here and it is ffffreezing!  It's so cold and windy that I have had to close the heavy back door as I was loosing too much heat!  It's 13 degrees here but feels like 9 as it is drizzly with a cold, cold wind.

The knee is healing well and I think my pop was a tendon slipping over the new knee........hurt like the dickins but no harm done.  I have graduated from the walking frame to two walking stick so progress is being made. DH and I are going shopping tomorrow afternoon, my first venture since coming home..........I am assuming that I will be doing a lot of sitting rather than a lot of shopping but the larder and the fridge is pretty empty and needs restocking so must be done.

Aly's back and we'll have to start thinking about the gathering in Auckland at the end of November.  I already have my ticket and can't wait!

    Love n hugs.    Chrissy

Good to hear you are both feeling better Chrissy and Tammy.

Today isn't as cold as yesterday, we finally struggled enough to get to a top of just over 5 degrees yesterday lol. But it's good news for the ski fields, they've had a meter of snow in the past few days, and - we know it lol. We didn't get any snow in the city, but all the hills around Canberra were white, very pretty Smile Today's still windy but not as bad as yesterday.

I wish I could be coming to Aukland with you guys, but I've almost saved enough to get my new plate done, and I guess it's better to be able to smile and talk without covering my mouth lol. I'll be there in spirit!

    Trish

    Hi everyone.  x

I am off to see a naturopath.  I am so sick of feeling like I have no stamina etc etc (you all know the feeling well).

Can I please ask for everyones input on  what to ask her?

What to avoid? What contraindications we have?

What they do that helps etc etc.

Thanks in advance, I have always been a bit sceptical and now I am hopeful. X

kylie I have seen a natropath that specialised in cancer for the last 6 years. My health and strength are better than ever she had me take Indoplex whilest I was on Tamoxifern ( finished 5 years in march) and I found it really helped the side effects. She also tested my estrogen and vitamin D levels She gave me a diet to follow and put me on supplements to detox my liver after coming off chemo and tamoxifen. It was the best thing I have ever done. I also try to exercise daily and meditate or practice relaxation. Good luck

Kylie, I'm so glad you are going to see a naturopath!  You will soon be feeling a whole lot better.  When you are there the Naturopath will ask why you have come.......just tell him/her about your journey with cancer, the drugs you have taken and how you feel.  From there he/she will work out the best way to help you........good luck!!!

Awe Trish you are going to be missed in Auckland but I do understand........being able to eat properly with your new denture is way more important than going on holiday.  How are you feeling?  Still having improvement with the lactose free diet?  I sure hope that by now you have had great improvement and are feeling on top of the world!

Hi ya Delvzy!!  Glad to hear that you have do e well under the care of a naturopath........they can do wondrous things sometimes.

Well girls I tried for the first time since the knee was done to do the grocery shopping with the help of DH.  It went well but I think it was a bit far as by the time we were half way through the knee began to swell and by the time we got home all I wanted to do was get off it and sit with it up.  I took a couple of ibuprofen, had a cup of tea, put a nice pack on and all is good.  I think it was just a little bit too far at this stage but it's done now and my cupboard and fridge is now full again and won't have to be done for another three or four weeks......yippeeee!!!!

Yes, I don't need to use the endone any longer as I find the ibuprofen plus is perfect for the pain level I now have.  That tells me that all is well and I am healing very well.  Another two or three weeks and there will be no stopping me........woohooo!!!!!!

    Take it easy all!

    Love n hugs.     Chrissy

    hi Kyliet

Be very cautious - live blood analysis is a load of bunkum - also there is a disconnect between being able diagnose and then also sell you the remedy !! An ethical dilemma right there

Avoid falling into the trap of alkaline diets etc - the pH in your blood  remains at about 7.4 below 7 or above 7.7 you would be dead !! - any alkaline foods end up in an acid (pH3)  bath in your stomach and would be neutralized.  Sure you can monitor your urine pH and watch  it fluctuate  but that is the exact way that your body maintains its pH by using its excretary systems .

I hope the N can help you - but there is a lot of woo and hocus pocus there too - its easy to demonstrate stuff in a petri dish - another story in our bodies -

Most N'paths end up taking a grain of truth and extrapolate it into nonsense !!

If you want to research google Wiki and also Quackwatch websites. Theres some pretty damning stuff out there !!

    That said re stamina ......

    - lifestyle changes, regular exercise,  mediterranean ( rainbow) diet, minimal/no alcohol/caffeine,  meditation, yoga and less stress are probably the best advice -

iron levels?? Arimidex side effects? - but you probably know all that and have heard it all before.

Just keep your healthy scepticism !!!

Good luck and please report back on your experience - i do hope it is constructive for you

Kylie - I've never been to a naturopath before, so would be interested in your results. I think nocompromises is right that there is a lot of quacks out there, but I also think there are a lot of good ones too, who can help you. It's the same story with chiropractors v physiotherapists. They each have their place, and chiros are a great help if you have a good one.

Chrissy - good to hear you are on the mend still, but not surprised you tried to go shopping a bit too soon, that is so like you lol! Patience girl!  I'm feeling pretty good most of the time now. My major trigger is lactose, and now I have that under control I'm feeling so much better. I can tolerate a small amount of gluten, but cannot overdo it. Missing onions, mushrooms and garlic though, have also found pumpkin doesn't agree with me too much. I'm not getting any pain now, which is fantastic Happy I do have days now and then when I have no energy, no get up and go, but think that's mainly from the Aromasin. Still very achy in the joints, again Aromasin. I've had a fairly serious problem with my shoulder lately, it could be a rotator cuff tear or a pinched nerve in my neck, or both. It's responding to treatment and exercise though, so that's good too. Overall not too bad, certainly 100% better than this time last year!

Today the morning temp is twice what the max got to on Tuesday - but soooo windy. The people who bought our house down in the country said they had a mini cyclone on Tuesday!

    Hope everyone is keeping warm!

    Trish

Great news Annette! I bet that's a relief for you!

Morning Trish! I had years of messing about with food intolerance too, once you find the main ones it makes all the difference.

We have really high winds howling this morning, and it's freezing cold!

Chrissy, I hope you feel better after a sleep, it is so easy to overdo it.

I went to an amazing Naturopath for many many years after I was Dx with RA. She did much more for me than the conventional stuff did. I took the steroids, anti inflammatories and even 7 years of a Chemo drug injected every Tuesday. Every one of those wreaked havoc with SE"s which she counteracted with natural stuff and recommendations for diet. I pulled the plug on all, but a low dose of the steroids and still continue with her recommendations, I am better now than I have ever been.

If you get a good Naturopath, they are gold! There are sheisters out there as Nocompromises said, but if you've been recommended by someone, all the better.

    Take care all....and stay warm!

Morning Trish, I'm pleased that things are better for you now but I didn't realize that things like onions and mushrooms upset you as well........they are they flavour makers and I understand how much you would miss them.

Annette having a clear mamo and good to go for the next year is a really good thing and has got to make you feel a whole lot better.  Hope everything else is going as it should for you.

Moira, I agree, when it comes to naturopaths there are some quacks out there but I have a good one who has worked hand in hand with my GP so he has given his blessing for me to be seeing her.

The leg is rather sore this morning but I will have a busy day sitting on my butt so it should be better soon.  It's not so much painful but it is still swollen so there will be much icing happening today......lol.

Take it easy and stay warm!

    Loven hugs.     Chrissy

Thanks everyone for your input. One of my main concerns is I don't want anything to affect my hormone levels. I am on Arimadex and Zoladex injections monthly to stop raging hormones!

I am seeing one of the mothers of my childcare children.  I think it is in her best interest to have me feeling good as she can't go to work without me lol.

Seriously though she is well qualified and her Mum died from cancer so it is a passion of hers and something she specialises in. I will keep you informed, it has taken a year of thinking about it to try.
