Good luck Kylie, I'm so glad you have found someone who you are satisfied with.  Do let us know how you go.

Well today I have been getting around the house with just one stick but I don't think I'm ready to venture outside that way just yet........lol.  I have iced the knee well often today and it seems to be feeling much better and that is a good thing.  Each day a little better, each day a little closer to being able to start to get back to normal.

Hope you are all having a great day!

    Love n hugs.    Chrissy

Chrissy sounds like you are on the mend! Take it slowly! Kylie hope it all goes well my naturopath works in with my intergrated Gp they both keep a close eye on my blood levels what vitamins I am deficient in and any etra help I need etc. they also both worked in with my oncologist until he signed me off this year. I felt like I had a very good team working hard to help me restore my health after all I had 3 different types of breast cancer.

    Hi everyone,

I just thought I'd say a quick hi as I'm new to the site.  Currently based in Melbourne and finally through my chemo and about to go into the next stage, bilateral mastectomy and TUG flap recon in July.  A bit nervous but has to be done!

I'm BRCA 2, 3rd gen on the maternal side and 4th gen on the paternal side (male breast cancer) so it will be good to not have to worry as much about it coming back in the future.

Anyhow, hope to get to chat to some of you soon.

Hello Peta, and Welcome! So sorry you have to join here, but you've come to the right place for support and advice, if you need it. The ladies here helped me out so much when I arrived here scared, 18 months ago.

The others will be along soon, to greet you. I was from Williamstown, till I moved here 2 years ago. I still have a daughter living and working in Melbourne.

Please let us know how you're doing, I'll look forward to chatting, take care!

Hi PETA and a big warm welcome to you!!!!  So glad you have gotten through the chemo and are lining up for the mastectomy and recon.  Yes, it's all a bit scary but it's not quite as bad as you think and you will do fine and be done and in the healing stage before you know it.

The ladies here and through this forum are great at handing on knowledge and giving support so don't be afraid to ask question, have a rant, have a cry or what every emotion happens as we have all been there, done that so know exactly what you are feeling.

Keep on coming back and let us get to know you.  Oh, by the way, I'm in country SA, a little town called Burra but please don't hold that against me.........lol.  I look forward to seeing more of you.

    Love n hugs.     Chrissy

Morning all. Have spent ages reading what every one is up to. Welcome PETA you will get loads of support here.

Trisha so pleased diet is helping. Sounds very like the fodmap diet my DD uses for her IBS. I use it at times as well and cut out various foods that upset me.

Having a lot of problems with pain at present but it will settle down soon I hope.

Chrissy look after yourself and rest today.

    Big hugs to all.

Welcome Peta, sending good wishes your way. Please drop in and visit us. Sometimes it might seem like we are just a bunch of chatterboxes, but this group has been a fantastic support. I am always asking advice and it is great to get lots of perspective. Look forward to hearing from you.  Hugs, Kylie

Aly I sure hope you get that pain under control soon. I'm taking it that it is your RA that is playing up after returning from warmth to cold.......that sure is a shock to the system.

Still just taking it easy although things are progressing well.  In the house I can use just one stick and if I'm in the kitchen I can just bum around with no stick but the benches are close at hand.........lol. I am at about the same point as I was with the first one if my memory serves me right, and I'm happy about that.....lol.  The next step for me is to get In the car and see if I can drive it in the drive way unsing the brake and accelerator in turn........I think I'll wait until it stops raining first.......lol.  Yes it is still showering here and as wind as the dickins but I guess it is winter and to be expected.

PETA, how are you doing today?  Hope you are feeling okay and beginning to get the answers you need.

    Take it easy all!

    Love n hugs.    Chrissy

Welcome Peta - please drop in a visit us often, and we'll support you through everything you will be going through Smile

Aly - not happy about hearing you are in pain - hope it settles down soon.  Is it the cold? Yes - the FODMAP diet is great! Well it's not great, but it gives you really good direction lol.

Chrissy - it's freezing here too, showers most of the day - I keep expecting to look outside and see snow lol.

Have a port shoulder in the oven, thought it was a good day for a nice roast, so better go start doing something about the veggies.

    Hi Peta,

You and I had the same chemo, and I have also had a bilateral mx and a reconstruction, although my recon is a free TRAM.

    Big hug to you...

regards Jenn - just back from holiday and getting over the jetlag.

Mmmm yum Trish, that dinner sounds so good!!! While you are enjoying it please think of me!.....lol.

I will be glad to get back to cooking and from comment coming from Arie he feels the same......lol.  Even though the Meals on Wheels is an adequate balanced meal and quite tasty it's not quite what we were used to.....lol.  I'm afraid it will still be a couple of weeks longer before I will feel comfortable standing at the stove cooking.  I may start with something in the slow cooker for Arie for his lunches, poor darling has had to muddle through with just sandwiches and he's not used to that......lol.

Jenn I hope you get over the jet lag soon, it really is the pits!!  Even though travel is wonderful and by the pics you shared on FB you had a wonderful time, when you really get down to it there is no place like home.

    Love n hugs all!   Chrissy

welcome Peta you will love this site. Welcome home Jenn I watched midnight in Paris last night and I got all nostalgic for Paris I went 1 year after my double mx anniversary and would love to go back one day. It has been  really cold I have been trying to make myself walk or jog most days as I feel warmer and much brighter but I must admit it gets hard when it is only 7 degrees! Take care girls x

Saw my gyno this afternoon and explained the symptoms. I am taking transemic acid to lessen the bleeding a bit and thats working good so far so im happy about that. He said as a safety procedure he would recommend a hysteroscopy to check that nothing else is going on. He reckons its not my fibroid that caused the bleeding its the tamoxifen. So i have to go on a waiting list for this procedure as well so it will be done in three months. talked to my breast care nurse and theres nine people in front of me on the surgical list so i wont have reconstruction until sept or october at the latest.

Melp, so glad you went to you gyno and came away with a few answers so that is good.  Sept/Oct will come around before you know it as this year is just flying by!!!  Yes, Tamoxifen can cause all sorts of problems, I hear of them all the time..........as weird as it sounds, I'm actually glad I was allergic to it as the problems just seem to keep cropping up.

Hope you don't have to wait too long to have the hysteroscopy done!

hi Chrissy yeah im glad i went too. My gp thought it was the fibroid that was causing the bleeding but the gyno didn't.. Anyway i told him about my concerns about doctors looking at that area as I've never even had a pap smear and he said he can put me under so i wont know anything. Hes pretty sure they wont find anything to be worried about but he wants to do it to be safe.

Melp he sounds like the right gyno for you and is very willing to listen to your concerns. None of us like docs looking at or doing anything to that part of our anatomy but most of us grit our teeth but I do understand your concerns and it's good to know so does your doc.  Hope he finds nothing but it's better to know than to be guessing.

Well girls I will be put to the test next week Wednesday as I am going to drive to the city.........my younger brother is coming over from Canberra for work and seeing as how the girls are on school holidays is bringing them with him.  They will be staying with our older sister so I want to go and see them while they are here.  I am planning on driving over to Clare to see the bone doc the day before but that will be my first time with distance so we shall see...........all I can say is thank goodness for cruise control!

Oh, Sue, when is your apt with the other do or has it been?

    Take it easy all!

Just wanted to say hello from Adelaide. Have posted a few times on other discussions but never said hello to my Australian sisters. I had my second mastectomy (no reconstruction) 3 months ago and apart from a little bit of cording and a nasty head cold, am feeling 100%. Hope you are all doing ok with winter. This is when I miss living in Darwin but glad I never had to cope with a prosthesis when I was there!

Hi SuC, glad to hear that you are healing well after your second mastectomy.  Boo on that head cold!  I can't remember the last time I had a full on head cold but I can tell you it is some years......lol.....I really feel for you.

Hopefully it will clear up quickly for you!

Welcome SuC, another one in the Adelaide area! I hope the whiskey and lemon helps with the head cold lol.  Now that I think about it, I don't think I've had one for a long time either! But then my memory isn't that reliable lol.

Sue - hope you get some answers for your knee on Friday.

All is good here - foggy freezing morning, but we are told that once the fog lifts (just before lunch) we'll get a lovely afternoon.

And am all agog at the news that Nick Kyrgios beat Rafe!!  Wow! Wish I'd been able to sit up and watch the match, it must have been a great one. Nick is from Canberra too Happy

Hi SuC, welcome and thaanks for joining us.

Trish isn't it fantastic about the tennis? Fingers crossed for the rest of the tournament.

Hubby said the car was covered in ice in the Highlands this morning,  brrrr.

Wow!!  Go Nick!!!  Didn't think Raffa was beatable .........go Aussie!

All good here, still taking things slow.  Did a couple of loads of washing today and am now sitting leg up once more.......just find it aches too much if I walk too far.  Hopefully that will soon pass.    My brother that lives in Canberra is coming over for a week (next week) with the girls so I have to be able to drive so I can go down to the city to see them.  They are going to stay with my other sister as he will be attending a few meetings for his work while he is here.  I'm excited to see them  again as those girls sure do grow fast!!  Days have been lovely here the last few days, still cold but the sun is out, but really Brrrrr  at night........it is after all winter and to be expected.........lol.

    Take it easy all!

It was such a lovey afternoon here, sun was out and very warm.  As soon as the sun went the temperature dropped very quickly and right now it's so cold outside I'm thinking thank goodness I have no reason to go out!  Well girls, I did it!!  Got in the car this arvo and managed with out too much trouble to drive my driveway so then decided to try the block.......success!!  I will be driving myself to the specialist appointment next week and also down to the city...woohoo!!!!   There will definitely no holding my back now!!!!    Hahahahaha!

    Stay warm all!

Yay Chrissy! Just don't try to do too much, you are going well, but don't overdo it lol, I know like telling Mt Everest to move. But it's good to see you getting mobility back.

SuC good to hear the whiskey and hot lemon working - go for a repeat dose - why not!? Sounds like a good idea to me.

Our fog didn't really lift - we had about 2 minutes of sunshine yesterday afternoon and that was it - we didn't get above 6 degrees. It was freezing!

Well our Nick didn't do so well last night, but still he did a fantastic job, one to keep an eye on I think.

    Stay warm today everyone!

    Trish
