Chrissy - the 2 inch cut is for a total replacement - I think they do more than one - it's the latest method in use - I've been researching it for a while now. Google search for minimally invasive knee replacement.

    Melp, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Trish, too late for anti-viral, just more painkillers but if no improvement in a couple of days  back to the doctor for some other options.

Chrissy, so pleased you're doing well (((hugs)))

Jenn, lovely photo with your daughter...and nice weather too!

Racy, great to hear from you :-)

Aly, sorry about the hay fever but I'm sure seeing the grand children makes it bearable.

Happy birthday Melp. I hope you had a lovely day.

How embarrassing,  I actually came out of the doctor's office dancing a 'happy dance'. I got some strange looks but all my results are good.

Hello to everyone,  I am loving all the pict

It's good to hear everything is going so well for you Chrissy, keep up the good work!

I think I'm enjoying your trip as much as you are Alyson, vicariously, of course.

And Kylie, I know just how you feel today, as my Onc told me there was no sign of the liver lesions I spent six months on chemo

from Sept to March, in order to destroy ...yay for that!

That is until about 4:30 pm, when visiting my daughter in hospital, her Dr came in with some quite bad news.

My daughter has been in hospital since last Friday week ago after suffering a stroke that morning. It seems that the stroke she has been treated for in the last twelve days with blood-thinning, cholesterol reducing drugs, wasn't a stroke at all but the recurrence of the brain tumour she had at 10 yrs, 26yrs ago.  As there are more than one now, I haven't a clue as to how they will treat them this time around.  We are waiting for the Dr to consult with a neurosurgeon in Brisbane which could use up more time.  In the meantime, she was supposed to be in a rehab facility trying to get the use of her right arm and leg restored enough not to need a wheel-chair.

Due to the stroke-like consequences of her brain surgery when she was ten, she spent 8 months in a rehab hospital for children and knows what she is in for and was pinning her hopes on getting home and resuming her 'normal' life...now we don't know if they will even continue with it.

I guess, at this point, we can only take this one day at a time.

    Sheila.

An update on my daughter is that she does not have brain tumours as was thought on Wednesday--it seems that she had a stroke.  Due to consults with Neuros in  Brisbane and past scans being dug out of mouldy old dungeons, the 'spots' on the MRI scan are now thought to be scar tissue from her original surgery.  They will do another scan in three weeks to see if there has been any significant change and re-assess then.

Thus ends the worst 48 hrs of my life in recent history. I will be keeping my fingers crossed for the next three weeks.

    Sheila.

Sheila, I can't even imagine, what a dreadful time this has been for you, but I am so relieved to hear that it isn't what they first thought. It will be a tough couple of weeks yet, I wish you all the best for a great result of the further testing.

Chrissy, glad to read that you are safe at home....

Annette, I hope you're taking good care of yourself!

DH and I are off work this week.  We are in Port Macquarie today and heading off to Byron a Bay tomorrow.  Weather is so beautiful it's hard to believe it's winter!  I'm getting better from the shingles and it is nice to just be able to rest.  I now have Endone from my doctor to take at night so I'm also sleeping better and taking less meds in the day!

Hi girls!  Yes its really nice to be home!  I have to agree with Dorothy, there's no place like home.......lol.  Slept wonderfully in my own bed......so nice to sink into comfort......my hospital bed wasn't bad but my bed is waaaay better!  DH has gone to Broken Hill today but has left everything I need within reach in the kitchen and put a chair there for me to sit on so I will manage until he gets back later this afternoon.

Tammy goof to hear that your shingles are starting to feel better....they are soooo painful and after the window for anti B's has passed there is not much that can be done to relieve other than pain meds until they pass.  Enjoy your time off with you hubby, Byron Bay is gorgeous!

Shiela, I do hope things are slowly improving for your daughter and your worry is slowly being lifted.  No matter how old our children get, they will forever be our children and we will forever worry over them.

Annette are things with the shut down going smoothly for you since the meeting?  I sure hoping this is coming to a conclusion now as it has been going on for way too long.

Well I need to make the trek to the bathroom......no it's not far, it just takes me a long time to get there......lol.

    Have a great day all!

    Love n hugs.   Chrissy

Annette hopefully that meeting will be the last.  Doing the move sounds like a damn good idea, sometimes a complete break and new start are the best way to go.  Best of luck with getting it all done and dusted!

Hi Girls, I've been off the air for a while! lol

Sheila (((hugs)))) what a horrible time you've had.

Chrissy - yay!!! you are home!! So glad you are back in your comfort zone, I have been thinking about you girl SillyHeart

Yes - it was so lovely to catch up with Kylie yesterday.

I have had a very busy few days. I went to Wollongong on Saturday for our 39 year high school reunion. It was such an interesting night. There were people there that I had no recollection of whatsoever lol. Now we weren't a huge group, around 120 of us and we spent 6 years together, so you'd think we'd all remember each other. At one stage I was sitting looking at a group of men (about 5 of them) standing in a semi-circle talking to eachother with a beer in their hand, and I was thinking they look like a group of older middle aged men having a chat, almost like my dad and his friends when I was a kid. Then I thought, OMG these guys are MY generation!! It made me feel really old lol.  The girls have aged much better than the men though - the men look their age, the girls not so much.

It was so lovely to catch up with old friends I haven't seen for 30 years or more.

    Trish

Wow Trish! Your reunion sounds like fun.......lol........I remember doing one of those for our 25th and I must admit, like you there were some that I had completely forgotten and some tha had changed so much I would never have recognised them if we weren't wearing name tags.  I was so surprised at mine that everyone including teachers remembered me..........they all kept coming up to me saying 'OMG! I always wondered what became of you!'   Loads of fun at those things.

Yes I'm home but I have been feeling so useless and I am so over the constant pain as the level seems to never change.........sort of knocks you down a bit.  DH tries, all I have to do is ask but sometimes it would be nice to be asked if I wanted a cup of tea or something........just having a bit of a grump, I know it will get better and meals on wheels starts today so at least I don't have to worry about food.......lol.

Sounds like the load of washing that DH put in is done so I shall go put it into the dryer.  Catch you all later!

    Love n hugs.    Chrissy

Hi Chrissy, it sounds like you're having trouble doing nothing, you are usually a whirlwind! Sorry it is painful, I hope it feels better soon.

I went to one of my school reunions, felt the same as you,  Trisha Anne, either no recognition or couldn't believe how much some had changed.

I love to hear about catch ups, great to meet the girls you chat to. I have done some Skyping which has been fun! Great to hear Kylie and Trisha Anne had a good time.

Midnight, I am glad to hear things are moving along for you, a complete break in new surroundings will be good for both of you.

Tammy, I am so pleased that you've been able to go on a trip and that the Shingles haven't been too bad.

Sorry if I have missed anyone, I have been in town today doing some shopping. It was so busy, I have come home tired, may have a nanna nap before making dinner. Take it easy...M

    Hi all

I went to the Casino today and caught up with some old friends while we were there going to the restaurant we had some Medics run past us. Further round there was a guy on the floor screaming in pain, we found out it was a security guard who had been king hit. Other security had the other guy on the ground waiting for cops, this was before lunch on a weekday !!!!

The good news is I came out $150 better than when I went in. Yeah.
