Mandy, good to hear that most of the mets are stable but boo! on the shoulder progression.  Here's hoping the rads kick cancer's butt quickly!

Wow Annette!  What a horrible thing to happen!  Just goes to shoe we really have to be on top of testing and getting copies of all tests done.

Getting better slowly, today I started on the second course of anti B's as only one has not cleared the infection......I'm still getting the sweats and fevers as well as the cough but I am soldiering on regardless.....lol.  One of these days I will be feeling on top of it all again!

Hoping you are all doing well chasing life.

    Love n hugs.   Chrissy

Mandy, keep up the Dragon Boat membership!  One of the girls had a lymphoedema flare up on the weekend but contributed with timing. (((Hugs))))

    Chrissy, take care of yourself!

Annette, a good warning that we need to keep an eye on things.

    Hi all

I had my ultra sound yesterday, I had to drink 1 litre of water an hour before and not go to the toilet. I was busting so luckily was called in pretty much straight away. They checked my kidneys as well which I read that they normally do. I go to my GP tomorrow to get the results, have been sore all day today and yesterday in the stomach but still haven't got my period yet.

In other news I also had a job interview yesterday for a chemist, lady was supposed to ring today but didn't. The interview went well so hoping I may get good news tomorrow !!! Am feeling scared as well to resign from a job I've had for over 5 years although I hate working their.

Yay Carol!  Congrats on the good interview and keeping my fingers crossed that you get good news tomorrow!  Don't feel guilty or funny about leaving a job that makes you unhappy no matter how long you have been there.......stress is not your friend and neither is anyplace that causes you stress.

Good luck with the doc visit to get results of your ultrasound!  Yeah, that litre of water you have to drink and hold before hand is real torture, just as well you don't have to hold it for too long.......lol.

Mandy sorry to hear about your shoulder, but good that the other areas are stable xoxox

Hang in there Chrissy - I hope you will feel on top of the world soon xoxo

Carol, I'll keep everything crossed that you get the job, and Chrissy is right - you should never feel guilty or uncomfortable about leaving a job that's been horrible for you.

    Everything's going well here.

    Hi all

Haven't heard about the job yet.

My ultrasound results said there is a double endometrial thickness of 16mm which should normally be about 10mm. Luckily there are no masses found. I have got a referral to Gynaecologist at the women's hospital, don't know how long it will take to get an appointment. I spoke to my sister who is a medical scientist and she said it didn't sound too bad, probably from the Tamoxifen.

Carol I would agree with your sister, that thickening is more than likely from the Tamoxifen but it's not so much that it'a major but does need to be checked on and watched.  I do hope the appointment at the Women's Hospital doesn't take too long.

Gee the person doing the hiring sure is slow to make up their mind!  Hope you get some good news soon.

    Hi all

Mum was at the shops today and fainted and hit her head, she ended up in hospital and has 3 staples. They did all sorts of tests and nothing showed up. This has been a bad week, just one thing after another.

Oh damn Carol!!  If it's not one thing then it's another.........nothing like keeping life interesting.  I do hope your mum is okay and doesn't have any lasting effect from the fall.  It is possible that her blood pressure dropped suddenly and down she went........that used to happen to my dad when he was in his eighties.

    Sending love n hugs.   Chrissy

Carol, that is no good. I hope your luck changes soon. Mum is also has fainting spells ( dizzy spells etc) and we think that it is due to her not eating and drinking. Probably dehydration and low blood sugar. I make sure that she has eaten and has plenty of water when I take her out now. A bit of a worry when you dont know what the cause is. (((hugs))) xxx

Hello everyone, I hope you are all keeping warm. I got a phone call late yesterday afternoon (of course I was driving, but I put it on speakerphone.... hehe). My first Radiotherapy appointmnet has been scheduled for Monday 18 August, and they will do a scan as well, so I will have my little tatoos again. I hope this brings some relief to my shoulder and hopefully that might lessen my lymphodema in that arm. Chrissie, thank goodness for Rocktape.... it does make a bit of a difference and is so useful, thank you..

This is my first day in 3 weeks that I am home. I am not answering the phone or opening the door. Time to do some baking, and sort out this house.

I hope you are all keeping well,

    all my love

    Mandy xxxx

Mandy, enjoy your day baking....mmmmm.....just the weather to stay at home baking!  I hope the radiotherapy brings some relief.  I always joke about my tattoos saying that "I never thought I'd be a rock chick"!  Maybe I'm not as boring as I thought :-)

Carol, sorry about your Mum.  I hope she's on the mend.

    (((Hugs))) to everyone

Yay Mandy on your rads!  Don't forget you get get a flare before the rads kickin but this is perfectly normal........just the little cancer cells imploding.......lol.  Hope the scans come back with good results.   Hope your baking went well and you got everything done that you planned.........wish I had your energy......lol.

So glad the Rocktape has helped.

Slowly mending, the knee is improving so long as I don't overuse just taking that one day by day.  Not sure what this infection is doing or not.......still got the cough and still tasting blood when I do cough.  A little concerned it is more but I guess I just have to be patient and wait until the anti Bs are finished and see what happens then.

    Stay warm!

    Love n hugs.    Chrissy

Carol I hope your mum is on the mend - that would have been scary.
Mandy - I'm keeping everything crossed that the rads help xoxoxo

Chrissy - keep up those antibs - we want you better!

I'll be having another tooth out this week .. sigh ... but it'll be better out than in. I'm also on antibs -  to get the swelling around the tooth down before it comes out.

Apart from that, all is going well here if a tad cold at minus 5 this morning lol.

Chrissy, I hope you get better soon. I think there is a real bad bug going around that really lingers, but of course if you are worried, go with your gut feeling and get it checked out.

Trish, I will be thinking of you with your tooth (ouch), but agreed, better out than in, hehe.

Carol, I really do hope your mum is going OK. it is such a worry, when they can not pin point a reason for the fainting spells.

I am going to take the dog for  a brisk walk to the beach  and then off to the local support group meeting.  I am also on the fundraising committee and their meeting is tomorrow morning, then I am off to Adelaide again until Friday as my daughter is off to Brisbane for work for a few days. I will be staying there so I can feed the dogs and the cats. My son will pop round to feed the horses for me as he lives next door (only 400 metres away).

I hope everyone is doing OK in this cold weather

    warm hugs

Morning girls, hope everyone is doing ok?

I was supposed to get my tooth out yesterday, but the dentist was sick lol - so it's been put off till next Wednesday! But I did get an abscess come up on a different tooth (grrr) on Monday night. It's another one that will have to come out eventually, but I can't afford to get them all done at once. So Tuesday was spent in bed on painkillers and having the most vivid dreams lol. Dreamed that while I was in the shower someone came into the house and stole all our furniture, when I woke up from that I had to get up and check to make sure everything was till there lol.

We've had record cold temps this week, four nights in a row at minus 6 or less. It's been cold! The days have been beautiful though, lovely sunny (although not quite warm enough).

Chrissy - how's that cold coming? And how is your knee?

    Trish

    Hi all

The family is going to have a meeting about Mum to see what needs to be done, hopefully we can sort something out.

I've just been to the GP again, since Tuesday I started to get a sore neck, then overnight it got worse. I went to work yesterday but thought that I couldn't do an 8 hour shift on checkouts as it was so sore. The GP said it was strained and has given me 2 days off work. When I rang up my supervisor this morning she asked could I go in for 4 hours? They don't even believe you when you are sick yet there are staff that don't even turn up for shifts yet they still have their jobs ???

I always thought that I was a pain in the neck LOL

    Hi everyone,

Chrissy, hopefully you are feeling a little better. How is your knee?

Trish, what a bugger about your teeth.  I hope you aren't in too much pain. I have been in Canberra 3 times in the last two weeks. At the hospital with hubby's back. I got a phone call to rush to Canberra emergency as they thought they would have to operate immediately - nothing quite like a 5.5 hour trip with 10 minutes notice.

Mandy, I will keep everything crossed that you get some pain relief.

Sending lots of good thoughts to everyone.  It sounds like a cyber group-hug is needed xxxx

Carol your employer is awful. They actually can't let you work if you have a dr's cert saying you aren't fit for work, if they did and something happened, they'd be in a lot of trouble. I've been off for ops etc and starting to climb the walls and wanting to go back to work early, and had to get a dr's cert to say I was fit for work before I was allowed back. Your supervisor needs counselling and the workplace reported to Fair Work Australia and probably to Work Safe as well!

Kylie - that would have been horrible - is your DH ok?  (((hugs)))

I'm ok, abscessed tooth is responding well to antibiotics, although my digestive system isn't lol. Yesterday was a day when everything was just running through me, but imodium helps keep the antibs in!

Kylie's right - everyone needs a group hug

    (((hugs))))

just an indication of what may be in  store for you when i come to the weekend in nov, hubby sometimes will come back to bed after he gets home from seeing bil off in the early morning and been pouring with rain, he did that this morning and we got a phone call to go to Wellington and could we take some freight down that missed the main truck last night, would be worth six hundred bucks to us and i was sleeping heaps obviously, and they asked hubby what the dog was growling at?  it was not the Dog, it was me snoring, lol, you sure you want me to come and meet you all, lol, i am giving you fair warning, dangerous to light sleepers. i am  He nudged me to wake up and shut up.  oh dear. lol i have a blocked nose this morning, was not helping my cause. we going to wellington soon. You may need your sleeping tabs  that weekend. lol

OMG!  Where did my yesterday post go?  I did write one but obviously it is off in the nether world somewhere......lol.....never mind, I shall push on and write an other.

Trish I am concerned over the fact that you keep getting these abscesses.  What is going on with your system?  Is your immune system so low that it is allowing any and all infections to take hold?  Do you have a naturopath that you see? If not you need to find one ASAP!  I know they will help get your immune system up and running and you really do need to get it going!   Yes, I know, I'm being mum but you need to face the reality that your body is not doing what it should and because you have had ops etc your immune system will be low anyway.  Hoping your digestive system doesn't suffer too much from the anti B's and you feel better all round soon.

Carol it's hard when we have to make decisions for our elders but the time does comes when we need to.  Hope you all manage to come to a consensus on what is best for your mum.  If you have a Drs. certificate saying you are unfit for work it is illegal for an employer to insist you do work and if you choose, there are avenues you can follow to bring it to the notice of the relevant authorities.  Hope you are feeling better soon.  Did you hear from that other job you applied for?

Kylie how is your DH?  Wow!  What a trip to do in a hurry!  Hope everything is going better and have calmed down somewhat.

Annette I'm used to the rafters being lifted as my DH is pretty good at that as well.......lol......anyway, there are always good old fashioned ear plugs that can be used if there is a problem..hahahaha!

Both lots of anti B's are now done so we shall see.  I am still coughing and still get very tired very quickly but I guess this old body will take time to get back up to speed so I will just plod along.........lol.  The knee is getting better by the day but it is still along way from being mine if you know what I mean.......it takes a full year to get there but at least I am able to walk......not fast yet but certainly better than before I had it done. As they say, healing is a process some are fast and some are slow but we all get there in the end.

Sue hope your healing speeds up a little and you get passed the major pain bit with the help of some good pain meds..........hang in there girl, it does get better, that I promise you.

    Love n hugs all!    Chrissy

    Hi all

Chrissy I didn't hear from the other jobs, most people don't bother now with letting you know, I suppose thay have heaps of applicants.

My neck has started to feel better this afternoon, the tablets must be starting to work. I start to feel worse during the night when in bed then have been waking up with a massive headache that's at the back of my head. I might need to find a new pillow. Am going to work tomorrow then have 3 days off, Saturday is our busiest day but I won't be going fast so customers will just have to wait.

Thanks for worrying about me Mother Chrissy lol.

It's ok though. I have had problems with my teeth for many years now, and am slowly loosing them Scared There's nothing wrong with my actual teeth, it's the jaw around them that is being lost. This means that I have deep pockets around some of my teeth, and that means that food that's caught in there causes the abscesses. My dentist and I are trying to save them, but there's three that are problematic and they are the ones I've been having problems with over the past couple of years. Chemo hasn't helped and seems to have speeded the process up. I'm having one of them out next week, and that will help overall, as there's a low grade infection there that just won't go away. The one I have the abscess on at the moment has been pretty stable for over 12 months now, but flared up out of nowhere this week.

Not my immune system - just have lousy jawbones lol. We're trying to keep it (and another one nearby) for as long as we can as it means a whole new partial upper plate for me. The one I'm having out next week isn't so bad as we knew it would have to come out sooner rather than later when I had the last two out and made provision for it on that plate (the lower one). My mouth is a mess, of course as I've always been petrified of the dentist - to the point of actually throwing up just before I have to go to one and needing valium to get me there. I'm a lot better now, have found a fantastic one who is very gentle with me and uses gas! lol.

I'm with you Aly - Saturday mornings are the best.

    Trish
