Beautiful pics Chrissy.
A cold wet day here but I will have to get moving soon as I have to take my sister to the doctor.
You have made me get my camera out and here are some from the weekend.
A touch of spring:

Thanks ladies for taking the time to give me your input! I really do appreciate it I spoke to my partner about it and he told my I'm going to somewhere with more experienced, end of discussion! Haha. Problem is I have a very unpredictable cycle so can only book 6-10 days in advance...Most places are booked out by then!
Congrats on your successful extraction Trisha:) Did they put needles in the roof of your mouth? That's the worst ugh! Makes me squeamish just thinking about it haha. Thanks, I will give Universal Imaging a call today!! (Already on the 2nd day of my cycle so I quickly running out of time!)
Lovely photos Chrissy, are those poppies? Just beautiful!!
Have a lovely day! Xo

Woohoo thanks so much Trisha, I'm booked in at Universal Imaging next Friday, was only $480 I feel really good about being booked in there, just feels right! Next step, get a script for valium as I'm very claustrophobic haha!
I honestly can't thank you enough! Who knows, you may have just saved my life, but at the very least you have ensured I will have peace of mind if they can't find anything
I will let you know how it goes xx

Jacqui, when you go for your MRI ask for the eye mask and they will give you ear plugs as the machine is really noisy. I am a little claustrophobic as well and find the eye mask helps as I can't see and even though I know I'm in the tube, to take my mind of it I listen to the noises (yes, even with ear plugs you can still hear it.....lol) and try to make rhythms. That always gets me through. Well done on getting in so quickly!
Good luck with the getting a clear result.
The red flower are two different Ranuculars. I have a huge pot of them in my courtyard and they are the first two to flower. The purple plant is old fashioned Rosemary and of course the white is Almond Blossom. The landscape is a hill about two kilometers from where I live and the detail on it is barely visible normally so I am pretty chuffed that it came out so well. The very last photo is just a patch of weeds with some soursobs about to open but they looked so pretty sitting in the shaft of sunlight I just snapped them.
Aly I love your Magnolia! and those little dew drops look so delicate. Is that last one an Azalea or Rhododendron......it's magnificent! Yes, spring is on it's way! Do take care and don''t do too much until your RA settles down.
I'm going over to Clare this afternoon so I shall be doing a little of the snapping away on the drive so I must remember to leave in plenty of time so I'm not late for my appointment.
Love n hugs all! Chrissy

Nice Chrissy - you are getting the hang of it - what sort of camera is it?
Sue - hope you continue to improve xoxo

Thanks Trish.
I've been neglectful in telling you all I had a knee replacement 2 weeks ago, if you haven't guessed. Each day is a bit better - I can even walk without a crutch today but will only do it occasionally. Still hurts a lot but the long term gain will be worth it.
Chrissy - the physio got 110 degrees bend today - is that good?
0 -
Sue are you kidding me?! 110 degree bend is fantastic!! Well done you!! For 2 weeks out you are doing very well........the pain will diminish a little each day but the trick is not to over work your knee as the inside still has a lot of healing to do.
Thanks Trish. It's the latest Fuji X-E2 Mirrorless digital and fully loaded with the zoom weighs in at about 400gms so I have no trouble holding, aiming and shooting without the wobbles.......lol. I still have a looong way to go before I can say I am proficient with it but that's fine as I do like to play.
Here's one from todays play.
Love n hugs all! Chrissy

just beautiful Chrissy so clear and bright

Chrissy, you're obviously having fun! I love the photos!

Chrissy - I'm sure he said 110 because it was 103 the time before - it is certainly worth getting someone to come to the house. Going to the surgeon today to get him to check the wound - it's still weeping. Best to get it looked at and see if I can stop the blood thinners.
Had a shower by myself - standing up!!!

I must have still been in la-la land yesterday - answered to Chrissy's post on the previous page, not realising there was more!
Jacqui - so glad you got an appointment, what time is it? What time do you think you'll be at Calvary? I'll try to meet up with you for a coffee if you want to and have time.
Don't worry too much about being claustrophobic, when I had my breast MRI on that machine I was lying face down with my breast hanging down into a "container" lol - it's the only way I can describe it! I had earphones and earmuffs for the noise, but didn't really feel like I was in a tube as I was face down.
I was one of the "guinea pigs" for the breast MRI on that particular machine. My radiologist (Dr Price) who is the most lovely man was the one who found the lobular bc in my breast, along with the IDC lump that I knew about. He lobbied hard for another MRI machine in Canberra as you could wait for over six months for a breast MRI before that. He raised the money and got it installed in Calvary Hospital and asked me to have the first breast imaging on that machine while they were working out the kinks in it. I did - and promptly threw up all over their brand new machine lol - it turns out I'm allergic to the particular dye they used! Apart from that it was brilliant, even without the dye they got fantastic imaging as the machine is so sensitive. You'll be in very good hands there.
As for the needles - I had gas so didn't really feel them much at all - it was a lower front tooth that came out so not in the roof of my mouth, but I know I squirmed a bit and wasn't happy with something she was doing. She said to me "ok I'm not doing that anymore" and I asked her what she had been doing, and she said putting needles in. It was all very fuzzy and while uncomfortable, not painful - that gas is amazing stuff!
Aly - lovely pics too - we don't have anything flowering at the moment, but after record breaking cold mornings here I'm not surprised lol.
Sue - I thought you'd had the knee op, good for you - I'm sure you'll be running around soon lol
It's my day off today, and will be meeting with one of my brides from last year - she's a bc survivor too, my age and went through treatment at the same time I did. We have the same onc and had the same breast surgeon. Didn't know about each other until I did the photography for her wedding - we are now really good friends and meet for coffee regularly.
Hope everyone has a good day
Trish

Hi Girls, hey i have a very sick bil at the moment, he started with a cold, but then got hiccups on monday, that have never gone away, the doctor gave him tabs, but never worked, he went back today as he developed pains in his ribs, across chest, anyway he is now in Hospital, they putting a line in him, he weak and hubby took him to toilet. had to help him, but hubby is horrified as the, ( sorry to say on this) but his bowel stools were black as the blackest ink. he said, his heart just dropped, never mentioned to Bil as to not scare him, as this morning he was so down. but is that not a symtom of something, i know he makes me mad at times, but i hate the fact he is like this and feel really sad for him. i am hoping it is not bowel cancer. Do you girls know much about this with black bowel motions.
0 -
Annette, so sorry to hear about your BIL and even though I know he has given you a whole lot of angst it's not nice for anyone to be sick. I am horrified that he has black stools.........that is usually a sign of bleeding somewhere and is called old blood meaning not a fresh bleed but really needs to be investigated thoroughly.
I know where your mind is looking and that is bowel cancer and yes, it is a possibility but it can also mean an ulcer bleed somewhere in his gastric system or even an internal varicose vein that has ruptured. Don't go borrowing trouble until you have all the answers as there are many causes for black stools.
He is in the best place to find out so take a deep breath and wait for the docs to report.
Trish I wish I could find a dentist that uses gas........neither of the two over in Clare do and I think maybe that's why I keep cancelling.....lol. Maybe I need to look further afield and check out a few down in the city another reason I will have to go to the city......sigh.
Sue, your wound is still weeping after two + weeks? Mine was totally sealed at the end of a week one but good you are going to get it checked out. I guess we all heal at different rates. Yay you!!! Good on you for being able to stand to take your shower.......now in that you beat me hands down! The physio coming to your house sure is proving his/her worth. I need to get my ass into gear and get over to the heated pool in Clare (80k round trip) so I can get moving on mine. It's doing okay but slow by comparison......I will admit though that I have been able to walk up the stairs like a real person the last few days so I'm pretty chuffed at that.
Didn't go picture shooting today as it was miserable.......hopefully tomorrow will be better.....lol.
Love n hugs all! Chrissy

Annette, sorry to here about your BIL. I hope it isn't something major.

Chrissy - we went grocery shopping today - only the fresh outer aisles - didn't take long but got enough food for a week. It's really strange how I'm suddenly now in charge of cooking and washing up We had home made pizza tonight - roast chicken tomorrow - trying to pick things that don't need much attention.
Surgeon changed the dressing - no more blood thinners and said to leave the new dressing on over the weekend - still weeping a bit, but not a large area. It looked very clean. They didn't charge me - just as well. Got the Medicare refund for the surgeon today, now waiting for the anaesthetist receipt. Not fair you found bulk billing people.

Sue I don't know how you are managing to stand for that long, cooking and clean up? Wow! I'm still just doing the cooking and Arie does the clean up......Oh...hang on a tic, I'm quite capable of doing the clean up but why mess with a good thing?....hahahahaha! Seriously though I think I would be telling Steve to give you a hand if not do it for you
Pleased to hear that the wound is clean....that's a good thing but I still don't understand why it's not sealed completely yet......guess it just come back to how quickly we all heal. All the docs I have dealt with, not just for my knees but for everything, have all billed Medicare and my fund direct. I got the statement from my fund totaling what they paid out for this last op and it was just over $17,000 and that doesn't include what was paid by Medicare. I found out that the prosthetic itself cost nearly $8000 on it's own........Lord help me if some thug wants to rob me, I'm walking around with valuable knees!!!.......lol. Yes, very happy that the docs and the hospital all billed direct!
Take care lovely and hope the healing continues well.
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Chrissy - out of pocket for the surgeon was $1475 - no charge for the implant. Hey imagine what it cost BUPA for 2 days in intensive care - not my problem
For the pizza I sat down to chop up the topping, so no real standing up time - that's why I'm picking things to cook that won't involve much supervision.

Chrissy - the nurse at the surgeon did say it might weep due to taking the blood thinners. He said to stop them yesterday, so we'll see how it goes.

Suzie pleased that you are doing well.
I will be in Brisbane 13-18 September then going north and bit and will be in Sydney 28 sept to 2 Oct. So would love to meet if anyone is around.
My picture of the day. I didn't think I had him as the birds were crazy, the Tuis actually get drunk on the nectar.
0 -
Hey Aly - I'll still be on leave then - we absolutely have to meet up!!! I'll PM you my contact details. Where are you staying?
0 -
Wow Alyson and Chrissyb such beautiful photo's, aren't you clever. Jacqui when I had my MRI I actually fell asleep it wasn't at all frightening. The only trouble was I woke up with a start and jumped and you're not supposed to move haha!
0 -
Fizzdon, the same thing happened to me when I had my MRI
Aly, I'd love to catch up when you're in Sydney. Let me know when you're free.
0 -
Sue I'm still surprised as I was on blood thinners for a month after the op. The good thing for you is, it is done and you are healing and getting the movement......most important. I will assume that your physio will help you work on the strength side of things and you will be soon getting around pain free!!
Aly I love your pic!! So funny that the bird gets drunk on the nectar.....lol. Have any actually fallen out of a tree do you know?
Lol Fizz and Tammy.....so funny about you two falling asleep in the MRI!! Glad you like the pics Fizz!
Our Almond blossom is out but that is the only hint that spring is on it's way........but if today is anything to go by, it's a loooong way off yet. At midday it was barely 7 degrees and I went over to the creek to meet up with another BC girl and her family for a BBQ but it was so cold we ended up coming over to my place and cooked the BBQ on the stove in the warm.........must admit it was far more pleasant at home that sitting in the freezing breeze.
I did manage to get a couple of shots in while the kids were feeding the ducks.
The first one is the creek now that it has been cleaned out and new benches installed.
Love n hugs all! Chrissy

Lovely photos Chrissy, some very nice ones for my screan saver lol.
Bil is out of Hospital, he has a chronic lung infection, his pulse was140 and temp wa 40.1 and niether GP took it temp or pulse, he saw two different ones, they did heaps of bloods at Hospital and stuck long gadgets down his throat that was horrible he said, one test was for a cancer that is quite irregular or rare, but the results were not back for that, when we took him home, i do not know what it was, he was hard to understand, he was hicupping and actually his body was shaking, spasming, that the lazyboy arm chair was shaking, really quite involuntry and hard to see happen. and very loud hiccups, probably why they wanted him to go home. they have calmed down, but the spasms are still prominent, he has anti B's. codine, metroclopremide, chlorprompazine. and sleep tabs as the spasms and hiccups driving him nuts. thats where we are with him, Dh is a good nurse. lol. anyway hope everything with all of you ladies.

Annette so glad to hear that what is ailing BIL is nothing really nasty bu do hope his meds kick in quickly so those hiccups can disappear. Thanks for letting us know the state of things.
Not doing anything special today, I think I over did my walking yesterday in the cold and my knees are quite sore today.........I guess it will have something to do with the fact that there is metal in there.......lol.
Take it easy girls and enjoy whats left of the weekend.
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Morning Ladies,
I've been purposefully staying off this site as I need to stop thinking about things so much! I'm acting as though I've already been diagnosed, when at this point it could still be absolutely nothing It's hard to stay positive though when your GP says to you, "to be honest, when I did your physical exam I was worried that you have breast cancer"... Thanks for that doc! haha.
Thanks for the tips for the MRI.I have twice had panic attacks from my claustrophobia, (once in a lift and once at a concert!) so the doc has told me to take a valium an hour before the procedure. Won't do any good if I start hyperventilating half way through! She also sent me to a site that explains some breathing techniques to stay in control of the fear. It would be a miracle if I fell asleep!
Chrissy, I love the idea of the eye mask, it will definitely help to not see the walls around me! And making rhythms out of the MRI sounds is a great idea too I love those red ranuculars(?), how big are they? I am currently trying to pick what flowers I want for my wedding and I want either white or red, but I want them to be really big flowers! Your photos are all looking very puuurty
Trisha my appointment is at 9am. My fiancé is taking me now though and he wants to take me out for a nice lunch after to reward me for being brave hehe! Thank you so much for offering to meet me though, if I was going by myself it would be a very big yes please!!If I need to head out your way again we will definitely have to grab a coffee J If I meet Dr Price I will tell him I’m there on your recommendation! So glad I came on here and asked for recommendations!! I feel so much better about getting it done there, instead of the dodgy Wollongong place haha! My gosh, a 6 month wait… I would be an absolute wreck if I had to wait that long! Oh that’s good you had gas J I’m not too bad with needles, but there’s something about getting them in your mouth that just makes you squirm!
I'll be staying off this website until Friday, as I am spending way too much time thinking about everything, but I will come back next weekend. Have a good week you wonderful bunch!

Jacqui - hope the MRI is clear - try not to panic too much.

Thanks Suzie Hope your knee continues to heal well! xo

Hi Jacqui - that's ok, if you are down this way again, you're on! And I'll reiterate - don't worry too much about it, a valium before hand will definitely help with your nerves. But honestly - when you are laying face down you can't see very much anyway - and I did what Chrissy said - the vibrations were kinda cool and I was making rhythmns out of them.
If you do see Dr Price (he really is the most lovely caring man) ask him if he can tell you what he sees, if he does see anything he'll probably tell you straight away rather than have to wait for the report. He does with me anyway, so I don't have to worry.
Good luck, I'll keep everything crossed that you get a clear scan!
Trish

Jacqui the ranuculas aren't really big flowers, the ones I photographed are average size around the 8cm across. My sister is a wedding flower person and has done heaps of bouquets and for girls wanting a bright springtime bouquet she has used the ranuculas because of their color availability and the reds can vary from deep burgundy reds to the bright lipstick reds. Why not check them out on the net then you can get a really good idea.
Good luck for your MRI! and enjoy the reward lunch afterward.
Love n hugs. Chrissy
