Carol - I meant to say about your neck. I used to have huge problems with my neck. I had two car accidents when I was younger about a month apart and had whiplash injuries in both. My neck was in a really bad way, and I used to get the most awful headaches - and they were just as you described them - in the back of my head. I found a great chiropractor about 15 years ago (after trying physios and acupuncturists) and he keeps me upright and sane. I almost never get a headache these days and I used to get at least three a month before him. I couldn't keep working without him - it might be worth a try? Pillows also need to be good for your neck, and everyone is different.

Hope you get some pain relief for your neck soon.

    Trish

Awe Trish, I hear you big time about the fear and dentists!........I made an appointment with one over in Clare (that's my closest place) and twice I have cancelled......I just can't get there but I know I need to as I have a small hole in my second pre molar on the top right.  The problem is the implant I have next to it is so close that I can't even get floss in there and if it weren't for the little twinges I'm starting to get in that tooth with hot and cold things I would never know its there......sigh.......maybe the next appointment I will have enough courage to go........... So glad to hear that you have your mouth under control....lol.

I'm getting excited as my new camera should  arrive early next week.......I guess I will be doing a whole lot of playing to get to know it.  Trish I bought a Fuji X-E2 mirrorless with two lenses........it's nothing like yours but should give me the quality of shot that is very superior to what I have been using.  I'm hoping Monday but I won't be surprised if it's Wednesday.

    Enjoy your weekend girls!

    Love n hugs.   Chrissy

    Hi all

Trish I'm the same as you and Chrissy as I hate dentists, I've got some teeth at the moment that are pretty bad but they haven't been hurting so I haven't been to get them checked. Last time I got a bit of work done I got knocked out, didn't remember my Dad driving me home!! Best dentist visit ever. LOL.

Trish I had whiplash in 2006 but have felt good for years, maybe my neck now is to do with that, or maybe it's doing checkout 4 days a week as my back has been getting sore too. I worked today on checkout and was sore within 10 minutes but managed to get through the day.

    Have a great weekend

Ditto, i hold on to the arms of the dentist chair like i am ready to fly out at any moment. I was only little at the time and i bit the dental nurses finger, she was a bag though, really rough and a grouch. lol, wonder if she still is, be retired ages ago, Miss Tinsley.  I remember the last school pupil  who would go 2 her, would get a note 2  go and get her next victim, and when we heard knock on door, the class room would be in complete silence knowing some bodys number was up and if it was not you, the sigh of relief was heard by everybody doing the same  sigh, except the class mate who was having their turn, the days with the old drills at the murder house, those were the days (NOT) lol

Oh Mandy what ever you take before going, can I have some please??!!.....lol.

My fear stems from my child hood and from my first visit as a pre teen.........the last one ended with me telling the dentist to stick the drill where the sun don't shine and walking out never to return to a dentist until twenty years later and I only went to him because he promised to let me use the gas........yup, that's how much I love them, I can count on one hand the visits I've had throughout my almost 63 years.   Just lucky I have have really good teeth until later in life.......lol.

Agreed, I don't like going to the dentist, neither, especially getting those horrible needles to numb my mouth, but after that, I find myself nodding off, very embarrassing.  And then when I walk out of the dentists room, I still feel dazed and I have drool and slobber coming out of my mouth. hehe

Tammy, ouch!! Thank you.  Maybe it is the position that we are lying and it becomes hypnotic.??? Anyway, still embarrassing. :) I am off to Adelaide for the day to have lunch with my daughter in law's mother. We get on really well and I do enjoy her company. ( I feel more comfortable with her than my DIL??)  Then off to see Mum and bring her some shopping and food. No aquarobics today as I think I might be cutting it fine. Well, this time next week I will be at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and seeing the Radiologist so this darned shoulder can get zapped. My arm is getting bigger and bigger even though I wear my sleeves religiously every day. I still think that when my shoulder gets fixed, then that should fix the lymphodema. Keeping my fingers crossed. I seem to have my feet in reasonable shape, so now I just have to concentrate on the damn arm.

I hope every one is having a good day.

    Warm hugs

Oh Mandy!  I can believe your arm is bigger than it was when I saw you!  You poor darling, I'm betting it aches a lot as well as feeling like a piece of lead hanging from your shoulder.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the rads sorts your shoulder (it should) as well as allowing the lymph to drain better when it's done.

Enjoy your lunch with DIL's Mum!!

Tammy and Mandy - I think there's definitely something wrong with both of you!!

Mandy - you poor love, I wish I could be there in person to just give you a big cuddle - but here's ((((hugs)))) instead and xoxox I hope that your appointment next week brings you some relief.

I'm lucky that I've found a lovely dentist who is so gentle and understands exactly how I am. I get gas for almost everything, and I'm also lucky that the gas works for me. DH had to have a tooth out a couple of months ago (he hadn't been to the dentist in at least 30 years!!! and hates them too) and the gas didn't work on him, apparently it doesn't work on everyone.

I'll have the tooth out tomorrow - hopefully my dentist doesn't get sick again - but hey she's human like me and gets sick lol. The other tooth has settled back down, so hopefully will behave itself for a while longer.

    Trish

Have been given a different drug for my fibro which is working but makes me feel spaced out. Now all we have to do is get the RA under control.

We have organised our Aussie holiday in September. Visiting my brother on the Gold Coast then going up as far as Gympie to see a cousin. We will then drive back down to Sydney via Bathurst and Wollongong, yes I know we are mad.

    Big hugs to all.

Yes ALyson, i am too, i remember him in Mork and  Mindy, kind of out grown that, but yes i am surprised about him..

My sister is in Canada at the moment,  going to Vancouver island and then they doing a cruise on the century ship around Alaska and then home, they are up in Calgary at present and then going  by rail to vancouver, i will have to read her programme again. she sent us an intinery, they are on a guided tour. they said, there is a boy from Tasmania there, lives and works there with the tour  company and said,  in the winter, its so cold, yr spit freezes, before it hits the ground
, probably too cold for her DH, he hates the cold. Kathleen would love it, me too. My hubby like her DH. have  good day  girls. XXXX

    Hi ladies,

I hope you don't mind me posting here, as I am not diagnosed... But I'm looking for anyone from Wollongong or Sydney that can give some advice?

I have been told to have a breast MRI after a palpable lump didn't show on US or mammo. I'm concerned whether the place I have been referred to (PRP Imaging Wollongong) has enough experience... The girls at the desk said they rarely book breast MRIs and didn't really know what to do.

Just wondering if anyone else has had an MRI there or can recommend somewhere good? I want to make sure they don't miss anything... I'm happy to travel to Sydney if I have to!

Thanks in advance and again I hope you done mind me posting here...

My thoughts are with you all xxx

Hi Jacqui - my advice - find a breast screening centre that is experienced in MRI's. Hope you find somewhere capable.

Hi Jacqui, I lived in Wollongong for 28 years before I moved to Canberra, mainly in Wollongong itself and Figtree - where are you?

If the only place in Wollongong that has an MRI machine doesn't do many breast imagings, then I'd look to go to Sydney, it's not that far for you. Alternatively, there's a new MRI machine that started here in Canberra at the end of last year and is a state of the art machine that images much more finely than the older MRIs. It's a bit further than Sydney, but when you take into account Sydney traffic, probably not too much further. The appointment wait for it isn't too bad either, just a couple of weeks at the moment, I know as I have to have one before the end of the year and talked to them about how busy they are at the moment.

I don't know of the availability in Sydney for MRIs, but Jenn or Tammy might know?

Let me know if you want more info on the machine here in Canberra (and we could probably catch up for a coffee if you came down here too Smile)

    Trish

Hi Jacqui!  Sorry I can't help lovely but I live a long way away but I wish you all the luck in the world that the MRI comes back clear!

Guess what girls?  Yup, THE camera has arrived!!!  About two hours ago and I have been sitting here going through the booklet, putting on the strap, moving it from one hand to the other marveling at how light it is, attaching the lens and detaching the lens just to make sure I know how, checking out the zoom lens I also bought and kicking myself I still have to wait till I go over to Clare so I can get a new SSD!  Would you believe it?  I didn't even think about that.......mmmm.......maybe I can use my old one for the time being so I can go play!  DH bought the parcels home for me as the postie dropped them off at the shop and then he stood next to me while I opened them.  His comment when I handed him the body?  You paid $800 for that??? and another $700 for the lenses???  I'd hate to think what his comment would be if I bought the same thing here in Australia as I know the body alone is retailing for $1400. He just doesn't get it, but I do and I'm sooooo happy!!!!!   Yippeeee!!!!

Got to go and play some more.........

    Love n hugs all!    Chrissy

Have fun playing Chrissy! Just tell him how much my body cost ($2500) and how much one lens cost ($2500) and that should make him feel better lol. Let me know if you need any lessons, or tips, happy to help.

Lol Trish, I saw lots of bodies like yours but I know I wouldn't be able to hold it let alone shoot with it!  I thought I was doing well by getting it cheaper from Hong Kong but it seems anything that costs more than a hundred as far as he is concerned is expensive so I didn't push my luck.........lol.   He paid for the body and I paid for the lenses.........little does he know, but I want a fish eye lens and that one for this camera is $1200 from the same place I got these so Lord knows what it would cost from here!  I might just wait a little while before I put that on him........lol.  Thanks for the offer of some tips, I might just take you up on that.......or even better come over so I can get some personal lessons!.......lol.

Chrissy, lucky you with the new camera...I'd like a fish eye lens too but I'm not sure how much I'd actually use it.  Happy snapping!

Jacqui, Mater Imaging offer breast MRI with cad.  I've not had an MRI but I've had other breast scans and I know that they have leading technology and are practiced at reading the images (just as important as the technology).  They are within the Mater Hospital where I had my surgery and they read for the Poche Centre which is across the road and specialises in breast cancer and melanoma.  Best wishes for your tests and like Trish I'd like to meet you if you get to Sydney.

    Afternoon ladies,

Thank you so much for your lovely replies, you are all so kind!

I have rung both Canberra Imaging and Mater, and was shocked to hear how much they cost! It's $400 here Wollongong compared to $750 in Sydney... Plus they can't get me in for this cycle, whereas Wollongong can get me in next week (1st day of my cycle today and needs to be between 6th and 10th day!) I'm not sure what to do, do you think it would be worth waiting an extra month and paying nearly double in order to go to a clinic that does them more frequently??

Trisha, I grew up in Kiama, lived in central Wollongong for a year, moved to Brisbane for a couple of years, and now back in central Wollongong. I absolutely love it here :)

I will certainly let you know if I head to Canberra or Sydney for my MRI :)

Thank you so much for your advice, and well wishes! xx

Hi ya Sue!  How the knee?  Hope the pain is beginning to settle a little for you.......one day at a time and gradually you will notice it getting better.

Been playing with the new camera this afternoon and I'm loving what it can do.  I have a load more to learn but so far so good.  Once I work out how to get the camera to talk to my computer and vice versa (it has wifi) I will be able to post a couple of the pics I took today so you can all see.

DH has just walked through the door and he's late......lol......so I'd best go organize tea before I eat him coz I'm starving!

Jacqui, I asked how much when I spoke to them last week, and it's just under $400 - but that's with an "Oncology Concession" stamped on my request. You don't get any of that back from Medicare either. The place I'm going to isn't Canberra Imaging (I think that's another lot- and an older machine) this one is Universal Medical Imaging and the number is 6126 5000 - you never know, you might be able to get it for the same price I will. I would be happier having the MRI done by someone who knew what they were doing .. but I know you will be stressing until you have it done.

Chrissy - any time you want to visit and get some personal lessons for your camera, you will be very welcome Smile

Had my troublesome tooth out this afternoon, all went well - I have gas and it's lovely! Mind you my gum is very sore now - not where the tooth came out, but where the needles went in Shocked, but I've taken some painkillers which should kick in very soon.  Feeling pretty good actually (apart from the sore gum lol)

Yay Trish for the successful extraction!!!! (shuddering as I type that word....lol)  Hope the pain killers have kicked in by now and you are feeling very well indeed!  May just need to take you up on that visit as I'm beginning to feel rather stupid when it comes to this camera........I will persevere and see what happens....lol....it's just that this old brain and advancing technology sort of don't want to mesh at the moment.......maybe I just need a break and try again in the morning......sigh....I so want to do it all now!.......am I showing my impatience or what?!

Jacqui, another option may be North Shore radiology which is in Royal North Shore Private Hospital.  They offer MRI and I've had bone scans there and my oncologist was very impressed with the report.  I can understand that you don't want to wait...I'm a need to know now person too.

Chrissy, if you sleep on things your brain continues to work on the problem.  I'm sure it will be sorted tomorrow!
