Hi Trisha, thanks for all the support you've given me, aren't you just the bees knees That would be so wonderful if I get Dr Price and he is able to give me an idea of what he sees in the scans! I'm not worried about the MRI at this point, but who knows how I will be once I'm there! I'm sure I'll be fine with the combination of valium, breathing techniques, not being able to see the tunnel anyways, and some funky clanking rhythms hehe!
Hi Chrissy, thanks for the info about the ranuculas, I had a bit of a google, and they really are so pretty! If I change my mind about wanting just one huge flower in place of a bouquet, I will definitely keep them in mind! Maybe I can give bright red ranuculas to our parents to wear on the day
Can't wait to come back on here and tell you all that I got the all clear! xxx
(How's that for positive thinking, eh?)0 -
We'll all be waiting to hear how you went Jacqui - so keep calm and keep breathing and Friday will be here before you know it.

Jacqui the red ranuculas would look stunning as the buttonhole for the men! Great idea! Keeping everything crossed that your scans are all clear and yes, we will be waiting to hear your results. Good luck!!
I'm heading off to Adelaide tomorrow for a followup appointment with the ENT and then I'm going to hang around for a get together/meeting up dinner with a whole heap of Adelaide BC sisters on Friday........I'm really looking forward to that! I found on FB that there is a closed group called 'Adelaide chat' which is supported by BCNA. Anyone who has been dx with BC is welcome to join but new members have to be approved by the mods. It was started in Oct. last year and there are already well over a hundred member (and not all from Adelaide). It makes me sad to think that there are so many women being dx with this disease and they are not all old women which is even sadder.
Haven't been out with the camera for a few days but you can bet your boots that I will be taking it with me on my drive down to the city as the conola is starting to flower and is making the countryside look wonderful! I better leave an hour earlier that I usually would to give me time to stop......lol.
Take care all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Jacqui, positive thoughts are the only ones to have :-)
Chrissy, enjoy the catch up!

Chrissy, have a great time. I have my 3yo GD staying with me again, otherwise I would get there too.
Jacqui, sending you positive thoughts xx
Annette, I hope your BIL gets his health all sorted out, it must be quite worrying. xx
I am waiting to hear from the Radiologist for my next lot of radiotherapy dates, the darn shoulder woke me up last night, so I took some panadol osteo which reduced the pain considerably.
Everyone else, have a fantastic day, the weather here is just divine... bright sunny day and a hint of a cold breeze with an estimated maximum of 18 degrees and tomorrow it will be 20 degrees..The walk along the beach is just so refreshing.Happy Days!!

Chrissy those photos are gorgeous, what beautiful countryside.
Tammy - well done for getting that shot, that type of light diffraction isn't always easy to get.
Everything is good here, have been busy with work, and have been lucky enough to get some corporate photography to do, with more coming up.

Hi Girls, how are you all doing, well today i am 53 and celebrate another year of reaching another Birthday, in 2011 on my DX, things were looking alot different, i was facing surgery which was the 31st Aug. and have had three Birthdays since. and its a freezing cold day. i think about how blessed i am to have survived, when others have been less fortunate and am thankful for life.
Hubby was saying if i had gone earlier for mammo, with it been so very small it may never of been picked up, yet it was grade 3 and if i had gone later, it would of been too late as they said, the out come would of been grim and i would of been in the last stages of life early the next year as it was a pretty nasty agressive tumour and i would not be alive when it reached a lump form to feel it. so am a very lucky lady. Gosh its a cold day out doors, Grrrr.

Happy birthday Annette! It's great to celebrate birthdays now isn't it!
I wish many, many more birthdays for you to celebrate xoxo

Happy birthday Annette. Hope its been a really good day.

Happy Birthday Annette!!! You were meant to be here to be able to celebrate life..........and each year that passes is testimony to that. Hope you have had a great day!!!
Went to BCNA Forum today which was help a the National Wine Centre. There were two speakers which were interesting, one a Medical Oncologist and the other a Clinical Psychologist. I didn't learn anything new but they did reinforce what I already knew so that was good. Tomorrow I am attending again and the subject is stage IV so I'll see if I will learn anything to add to my knowledge.
Love n hugs all! Chrissy

Hey ladies,
Just a quick update! I hated every second of the MRI! But I got through it and have kept myself distracted at the snow ever since! The Dr wasn't there when I got my scan so I have no idea if they saw anything. I've been told the report will take 5 days so hopefully I'll know by Friday. Just had a look at the MRI disc and I can't see anything!
Hope you're all well xo

Hi Jacqui, we were wondering how you went........we'll be keeping our fingers crossed for you for Friday's report.

Annette, happy birthday for yesterday, I hope you had a wonderful day,
Thank you for those beautiful pictures, ladies, I loved them.
I have been vomiting and bed bound for the past couple of days but am on the mend again. I think it is this round of Xeloda, so I am taking 2 or 3 weeks off so that my body can recover.
Chrissy, I am glad that you enjoyed the forum yesterday, and it am going today, hopefully I will learn something. My son and daughter are coming as well, so hopefully they may feel more confident with my staging.
Warm hugs
Mandy xx

Hey ladies,
Just rang my health centre and my MRI report is in. The receptionist checked with the doctor and told me "they're all good". So I guess that means that nothing suspicious was found
Now I just have to wait for my appointment next Thursday to find out if they found anything at all to explain the lump and the pain.
If there is no explanation showing up in the MRI, do you think I should just accept it as one of those things, and let it go?
Hope you're all well xo

Jacqui, I am relieved that your MRI results came out good, and I hope that you get your answer to your lump and pain.
I went to the BCNA Forum for women with Secondary Breast Cancer yesterday, and bumped into Chrissie, wahoo! Although my son and daughter accompanied me, it was so comforting to know someone else at the forum and it was so lovely to see Chrissie again (and her hearing has improved ladies, lol, coz she is wearing her hearing aid. Unlike my husband who refuses to wear it and I have to keep yelling at him. The poor neighbours must think I am a right old bully.)
This Forum was extremely well presented and Fran Boyle, the oncologist, explained things so easily, that I walked out of there almost a new woman. I now know that I am going to be around for years, or at least, I have a very good chance of that. There are new drugs in the pipeline and technology is just getting better and better. Well done BCNA.
It is a beautiful day here today, 24 degrees and sunny with a slight breeze. The sea is almost a millpond here. I am off to yoga soon and ready to enjoy the day and everything it has to offer.
Wishing all you lovely ladies a lovely day.
Warm hugs
Mandy xxxx

mind if I join in , I'm in Brisbane and am seeing dr pyke on thurs for my consultation following diagnosis of IDC and positive nymph node . Anyone know what I can expect from thurs . I'm going to the mater . Thx in advance

Hi Doona and welcome! Love seeing new girls although not the reason they are here. I'm in SA so not up with what goes on at the Mater but we have other Brisy girls here so I'm sure they will chip in.
The usual thing that happens from here is that you will discuss your options for either lumpectomy or mastectomy including node dissection. Once this is done your tissue will be sent for pathology for confirmation of your diagnosis and then a further treatment plan will be put in place.
I'm not sure from your post if you have already had surgery but if you have, at your visit on Thursday you will probably find out what your treatment plan is.
Good luck with it all and do come here to ask anything, cry on our shoulder, vent in our ears........we have all been there and done that.
Mandy it was really good to see you at the Forum and I did enjoy meeting your children. Your son is so tall! and your daughter is lovely. The speakers were fabulous and I'm sure all of the women there would have left with great sense of better survival and comforted to know that even with the worst of treatments, the oncs are all about QOL for us.
I took a few pics on the way down on Tuesday evening, thought I'd share. They have for me a great sense of calm. I hope they are the same for you all.
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Hi Doona, welcome! A lovely group of ladies here, all very supportive.
Mandy, seems like you must be feeling much better!
Chrissy, more great photos please....

Hello Doona and a very warm welcome to this wonderful group. I think that Chrissie was pretty good in explaining what to expect next, and I know that it seems daunting and that you are heading into the unknown. Be assured, that you will be in the best of hands and that you will be given the correct treatment that will be appropriate for your type of breast cancer. Sending you positive vibes and warm hugs. Keep posting and let us know how you are and what is happening. You will find the support here invaluable.
Chrissy, those photos are stunning and agreed, they are very calming. The weather is just so beautiful the past few days and I know that we will get a change tomorrow, but I have certainly enjoyed the beautiful sunshine this past week. Did you have fun shopping after the forum, Chrissy? I am so happy and excited
I spoke to my oncology nurse yesterday afternoon and we agreed that I take a break from Xeloda as I have been on it for almost 22 months which is extremely good. I know that my feet have improved lately, they still crack and bleed each cycle, so the skin should have some time to heal....so, I am enrolling in the City to Bay fun run (6 Km only and walking..) on 21 September and will make sure that I have some ice ready for my feet afterwards. I used to go in the fun runs every year and I haven't been for over 10 years and I do miss not being able to run anymore, so I will be so happy to go in it again. My daughter will be doing the full fun run and I will meet her at the finish line, lol.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone
Warm hugs

Mandy - I'm sorry to hear of your vomiting, that's not good, but it sounds like you've recovered and I'm glad you had a good day at the BCNA forum - and meeting Chrissy there, that's a bonus!!
Chrissy - lovely photos, what beautiful countryside.
Doona - welcome, glad you came to visit us. Chrissy gave you a run down of what to expect. I don't think you've had your surgery yet though? Once you see your specialist you'll have more of an idea of what to expect. Once you know what your receptors are (ER, PR and HER2) you'll also know more about your treatment plan. That info won't all come through until you've had a mastectomy or lumpectomy and the pathology comes back. Yes - I'm pretty much repeating what Chrissy said lol.
Jacqui - that's good news about your MRI. That particular machine is super sensitive and if no cancer showed up then you can probably relax. When you see your doc on Thursday you should know more. Maybe it showed your lump as a cyst or something, but if I were you, I'd relax more now.
We've had gorgeous weather here lately, sunny warm(ish) days. I have a busy weekend, photographing a charity ball tonight. It's for a group called "The Cancerians" they have this ball once a year and the tickets are $1000 each!! Ouch!! But all the money they raise goes to the Australian Cancer Research Council, so we don't charge for the photography. They have just over 200 people coming tonight, as they do every year. A good cause. Tomorrow a pre-wedding shoot, so a busy photography weekend.
Trish

Mandy, you are such an inspiration! Enjoy the event.
I plan to do the 9Km run in the Sydney Running Festival on the same date. I've never run that far before and my training was on track, up to 7 Km, until I got that flu that's going around 2 weeks ago. I plan to get back to training next week and hopefully be able to run the whole run!
