Hi Jenn, good question. My MO said that he was going to give me minimum possible as I had no SN involvement. He did say he was going to discuss this with his Professor though. So I'm hopoing that doesnt change, but I'm done with making assumptions. Oh and he also said he was going to tell a few porkies, I guess to get me the H without the T.

    xx

Welcome Pommygirl, sorry your going through this, but glad you found our aussie room. Try and not think about it till you get your results and further info on Monday mate. Think its safe to say we all have learnt that worrying doesnt help lol.

Kate, so glad your feeling good and like Susie & Chrissy said, take the pill. They tell you to take it the second day for a reason.

I wont say hi to Jenn as I might be interrupting something *giggles*.

    Thanks for the explain Kate,

The reason for the PBS ruling is that all the current research shows that Herceptin gets better results (progression free survival) when used in combination with a T.

I know your cancer was caught at an early stage but the fact that it was Her2+ automatically makes your cancer "early stage with high risk of recurrance" (exactly like me even though mine was a little bigger), so it might be worth asking your onc about the T if you're serious about wanting to give yourself the best chance of this not coming back.

LYNDAL: no worries.. we're in our forties you know, not our late teens ;-)

No :-( Gave the sheet to my onc and she seemed very sceptical and is going to "look into it". Doesn't sound promising huh? She seemed concerned that there were some "serious" ingrdients in it and also wasn't sure if they would be available here in Aus...

Anyone else asked their onc about it?

Hello all!!!  We are back from our fabulous weekend, and I'm downloading pics of the wedding now :-)

Pommygirl - welcome, I'm so sorry you are joining us - but you never know your results tomorrow may mean you will leave us very quickly.  We are a great bunch of ladies and we'll help you with anything you need.

Kate - hope you took that Emend today!  You DO NOT WAIT TO SEE - you take it.  It's easier to stop the nausea before it starts.  Once you start being sick it's hard to stop.  You didn't tell me that yesterday in our texts - you naughty girl - how are you going today?

Jenn and I had a lovely date - don't let her know girls, but she is an absolutely lovely lady and she looks wonderful.

Wedding!! It all went very well, the storms that had Jenn and I jumping in our chairs from the thunder in the morning stoped, and the afternoon was lovely.  The bride was absulutely stunning, I know all brides are, but she was heart stopping.  I'll post a pic here if I can work out how to.  She has a 17" waist (can you believe it? and she's 30!)  Reception was a lot of fun too - but I was completely buggered by 9.30 last night.  We came home early, (back to the hotel I mean) made a cuppa and sat and watched the tennis - bliss lol

    Trish

    xoxo

LOL Trisha - I deferred to those who have walked before me, and I took my Emend this morning before my feet had even hit the bedroom floor! So far still so good. I feel a bit spacey and disconnected from everthing, I suppose a bit floaty but really that is it. Is that a SE? feeling floaty?

Would love to see a picture of the bride. All you have to do is click on the little tree next to the smiley face icon when you are composing an email and then you can select it from where you have saved the picture on your computer - easy peasy.

Glad you had such a great weekend and I'm sure you celebrated as well the end of your Herceptin journey.

Kate, i think it was around chemo treatment no 3 where one of the chemo nurses sat down with me and asked me a series of fairly simple questions designed to see how my memory and general cognitive skills were going. First question asked was how is my memory going. I answered great, then she asked me what did you have for breakfast. Stuffed if I could remember lolz. About 15 questions later (and I was only able to answer something like 3 of them and got my current age wrong) It was pointed out to me that I was a bit foggy and shouldnt be behind he wheel of a car or playing with fire or sharp instruments lol. Chemo brain is real. I havent worked out if it was just the drugs, a mild case of depression, distraction cause of so much going on or a combination of all, but it sure was a real fog/spaciness that has receded over time. My long term memory is still a bit stuffed, but I think and hope its the Arimidex cause I saw a thread that says the drug can cause fogginess.

    Glad you took your emend

Chemo brain is real, least it was for me.

Were you really banned from driving Lyndal? My life would be a bit stuffed if that happened to me. It would take me 1.5hrs on public transport each way to work (and my treatment centre)...

So far no memory problems noticed at day 12 - and any spelling mistakes you ever see on here are because of the stupid ipad "keyboard" :-)

KATE: you are doing so well... I'm very jealous after all that nausea and the oral thrush I had... I have a couple of tender places in my mouth so I'm being very good about cleaning my teeth and using the bicarb mouthwash they sent me home with.

Hubby and I went to the movies tonight! Saw Sherlock Holmes in Gold Class (less people, so less likelihood of me catching something!). Had fun...

    regards Jenn

Hi Pommygirl. Best of luck for tomorrow. The worst of this is the not knowing, and for everything you don't know you can just about be certain that someone here on these boards has been there - done that, and then it is not so scary. It's all about taking baby steps and one thing at a time and remembering that you are not alone.

I still have my 'L' plates on but the people here have kept me sane.

Please let us know how you get on.

    Cheers

    Kate

I wasnt well enough to drive during chemo or for a while after anyway Jenn, Chemo knocked me around too much physically, but hey I would do it all again in a heartbeat if I needed to. I remember mum taking me to my shop for a short visit each time a day or two before the next treatment, she outpaced me and she was 70 yo lmao.

WOW Lyndal, it really did hit you hard :-(. hugs....

For the first 5 days I couldn't drive but that was mainly because my port was new and I couldn't comfortably turn my head. I've been ok apart from that. Even managed to go to the supermarket yesterday briefly, although I was so paranoid about "germs" that I think I almost had a panic attack!

Have a good Monday everyone. Today our 18yr old daughter who has Down Syndrome starts her post high school training course. It's a big day for us. She will be catching the bus home by herself for only the second time (we've done some travel training over the break with her), so I'm on annual leave in case something goes wrong and I have to chase her around Sydney (her mobile phone has a GPS app so I can track her from my phone).

I think I need a photobucket or flikr account (I do have both, but can't for the life of me remember my account details lol) to be able to upload an image.  Will have to try to work that out.

Hope everyone is well this morning.

Pommygal - keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Kate - hope you are still feeling ok.

Jenn - good luck with your daughter today - I hope you don't have to go chasing all over Sydney lol

    Trish - try http://www.tinypic.com/

You upload an image, then click on the IMG code box on the left and copy the link eg

[IMG]http://i41.tinypic.com/f03zq.jpg[/IMG] - paste it into the image url field for the pic on here and then remove the IMG tags at each end so it looks like this http://i41.tinypic.com/f03zq.jpg

Then enter a size - I usually use say 480 by 320 - then click insert. Here's one of Poppy

Racy, she is in a 2yr Transition to Work program and the place she is going has an emphasis on the arts and have their own gallery. Rachael's speech skills aren't very good so we're not really sure what she will end up doing at the end - that's what the program will determine!

Trish - I remember having trouble when I first tried it - it was only because I looked at the properties of someone elses pic, that I found out about TinyPic - then it was trial and error :)

Don't forget, I'm a software engineer and am used to writing instructions.

Trish, you did a great job with the pics!  The bride is beautiful and her dress!.. well what can I say, that lace is amazing!!!!  Up close it would be mind boggling!

Jenn keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well with your DD and she manages her bus ride without incident.

Kate hope you are still feeling okay.

Pommygal, any news yet?  We are all on the edges of our seats hoping for the all clear.

I had a great weekend with my girls and Saturday was just fabulous.  They took me to a vegan restaurant called Bliss for lunch and the food was pure bliss in the mouth then we headed to the theatre to see 'A Chorus Line'.  Now that was a show well worth going to see!  It was two hours long and it ran straight through but the time just flew by and it left me wanting more .................. to me, the sign of a very successful production.  The dancers and the voices were fabulous and made the difficult look so easy.  Their energy left me gasping to think about it.  If you get a chance to see it do so, I highly recommend it.

Trying to stay cool with an aircon that won't turn on.....grrrrrr!  It always happens when you need them most......................

    Love n hugs all.  Chrissy

I'm on 3 days annual leave before Australia Day (organised months ago) and decided to go to Myer this afternoon to buy some new pretty underwear (we all need that sometimes huh?) and at the first counter I paid using EFTPOS without a problem. Then at the second counter the stupid machine told me three times my PIN number was wrong and then locked the card....

So I put the purchase on credit ok and headed for the bank - thinking OMG I have chemo brain and I've forgotten my own PIN number :-(

Got to the bank and the woman there tells me that the same thing has happened to a few other people today and it is a bank problem and showed me my card was actually ok.

So all that panic that I'd lost my brain - and I haven't. But maybe I'd better write my PIN number down in case I really do forget it later....

Oh I feel like crap.... sorry for being so blunt. I'm not sick or anything but I am in such a fog I can hardly function. I am still in my pj's and i'm going back to bed to sleep. I am dead tired. It is day 4 today. How long does this foul feeling last for. I am not human at the moment.
