Chrissy, that is so unfair...I know what you mean about services being almost non existant in the bush.

I'm about 7 1/2 hour drive from our capital and it can be challenging finding services in a small town...guess that's the price we pay for living in beautiful remoter areas.

Are you still finding it hard to get help where you are or have you managed to tap into some services?

Sharon, I still have no services but I just muddle through and if the house isn't as clean as I would like it and if the washing doesn't get done when it needs well that is just too bad.  My DH does as much as he can and he keeps the garden for me but house keeping is just not his bag......lol.......I guess like most older men, they were not taught as youngsters.  I have managed to teach him how to cook the basics and put a load of washing in the machine and then in the dryer but that's about as far as I got he still has no idea how to fold things neatly.........or maybe I'm just a bit too fussy.....either way, we get by but I really don't know what is going to happen later on down the track when things get a whole lot worse for me.   That's the thing that bothers me the most about this whole BC journey.

I did the LGFB course and it was fun. I was selected to be the model so bonus I did'nt even have to exend the effort of doing anything for myself. I picked up a couple of tips, but I know a fair bit about make up so it wasn't like I learnt a lot. Played dress ups with different wigs as well. I must say I am very happy with the wig I already have. All in all it was worth doing. Oh and I got lots of nice make-up to keep. I started to feel really off about half way though though, but I ate some fruit and I bounced right back. I am learning that feeling off means I need to eat, even though it is not the usual hunger feeling you get when you get hungry, but the difference in just putting something into the stomach made all the difference.

Whoa Chrissy, your boys are certainly big. Fine strapping lads too.

Kate - was wondering how you went - glad you had some fun.  I think I told you I sucked on jelly beans while on FEC - it seemed to keep my tummy happy.

Chrissy - I know what you mean about teaching older men housework.  My DH was pretty much pretrained when I got him (22 years ago) but he can't cook well - he does a mean soup - but needs a day or so to get organised. He does all the washing and ironing - and he's not bad at it.  But he can't clean the bathroom to save his life lol.  He's pretty good though - and now he's retired, he does a lot more.  It would be nice to come home to a dinner occasionally though lol

I hear you Trish about the dinner on the table occasionally.....lol.......when I was away, DH learnt that it was nice to have someone else cook for him so now he does dinner once a week and if I don't feel like cooking for whatever reason, he's happy with scratch that he gets himself.  It's just the cleaning side of things that he's really hopeless with.

Wow, my son killed the computer, I hadn't realised how much just being able to log on to this site means to me.  Glad to be online again.

Kate, thanks for info about moods, sometimes its hard to know if you are over-reacting to things. I hope you are feeling ok. I am sick of feeling 'sick', just that constant erkkk.

Jen, it is so unfair that your support hasn't been there. The McGrath nurse was there when my hook went in for lump, after surgery and also came to oncologists appt.  I have regular sms contact (I hate phone calls) for any questions.  She has also helped organise a local support group dinner next week, we are really blessed in that regard.

You are all a lifeline in a really turbulent time, thanks everyone. Kylie xx

Yes Kate, they were my grands; I probably wouldn't have them yet if I hadn't been dxed with mets.  Speaking of training them young, the little blonde fellow is already helping his Mum with the housework.....in fact I gave him a toy Dyson for Xmas last.  He gets it out and follows his Mum around as she vacs the house. Smile  What a great husband he will make one day.

Aaaaaah, has anyone contemplated writing a book on what NOT to say about breast cancer???  A "well meaning" friend told my daughter that breast cancer 'is not a real cancer, that it is just like a 'practice cancer'????"  She actually said this and went on to say that "because breast cancer is so 'common' its just not an issue any more."  Doesn't feel that way from this end.  Kylie x

Kylie - OMG!  It stuns me that some people are just so stupid!  And I suppose the women who die from this horrible disease are only "practicing" too?

    How did the wedding go?

Kylie. That person's statement is the epitomy of ignorance, but I do believe that because there is so much exposure to pink these days that people are begininng to think of it as just a common, garden variety disease and with treatment heypresto - no problems - you get cured from it.

I've had people say to me how lucky am that it is 'just'' breast cancer. Seriously I don't have the energy to debate this when I am told this. I just say with a dead straight face, well that's your opinion but its certainly not my Drs.

Sadly as it is so prevelent today, in time every one of these people will be directly involved with BC, either themselves or their loved one. Ignorance won't be bliss for them anymore.

I hope you are pacing yourself and make sure you get lots of rest so that you can fully enjoy the wedding. PS we'd love to see a pic here of the beautiful bride please xx

Sitting in the car ready to go into the LGFB session. Already been to a parent teacher interview (8am) and my GP to check my port incision because one of the internal stitches worked its way out and split the incision open :-( Tired already!

Looking forward to seeing wedding photos :-)

Hope you enjoy the course Jenn. With a bit of luck there might be someone from the Cancer Council there (there was at mine) and she will be able to give you some support which you have missed out on by your BC Nurse.

katopet - you should post that on the thread "the stupid things people say" - should get a lot of comments - how stupid.

Decided to work from home today as hail storms are forecast and I don't want my car getting hit - I park it at the bus stop.

OMG!!! Kylie I'm so sorry that someone you know could be so stupid and unfeeling!  Yes BC is becoming common...........all too common unfortunately...........but that is still no reason to trivialise the devistation the disease causes.  I know those words were said in ignorance but that is no excuse...............if someone wants to comment on a subject they should make sure they have their facts correct before opening their mouths.  I'm sure that person was trying to comfort your DD but unfortunately did not have all the facts and instead of helping she hurt.

I had to put my own sister right on the facts of stage IV BC and that really surprised me as she is not a stupid person but had infact gotten caught up in the whole pink thing for extremely early BC.

Sure hope you enjoy the wedding on Saturday and if you can't post a pic just let me know and I'll do it for you if you would email it to me.  If you need say and I'll send you my email address.  Rest up on Friday so you have the energy to fully take advantage of the day!

Jenn hope you enjoy your LGFG experience!  Sorry to hear what that stitch has done........not heard of that before.........but sure hope it all heals well for you.  Take it easy and only do what you have to do and don't push yourself.

Sue I sure hope those hail storms pass you by!  They can and do indeed damage a lot of vehicles every year.  Thank goodness I don't get those huge hail stones where I live as my poor little car wouldn't have a chance as it is always parked in the open.

Kate I'm so pleased that the Neulasta is working well for you and you are feeling good.........that's always a plus while going through chemo.

Well girls I think the change of diet may be doing something for me as I jumped on the scaled this morning and to my great surprise I have lost 3kg!!  Yup I said 3kg............now that is down right amazing as I haven't been able to loose that much in a week for years!  So that's 3 down and 33 to go.....hahahahaha!

    Love n hugs all!  Chrissy

Chrissy - well done you !!!! that's fantastic. I put on half a kg between chemo's. Could have been worse I guess. I am finding out about joining a dragon boat team here in Bunbury. So excited. But I have to get medical clearance first, so it mightn't be for a while. But I am DETERMINED to loose weight too. I also need to loose about 25 or so more kgs.

Sorry Kylie - I thought the wedding was last Saturday! doh!  Looking forward to pics too! :-)

Storms seem to have abated for now - torrential rain last night all night, but thunder stopped at around 6.00pm thank goodness.

Kate - so glad you are feeling so good. Keep it up girl!  But to do that you'll have to rest lol

Chrissy - well done - I too could loose at least as much as Kate lol but they have biscuits here at work, and I can't seem to have a cuppa without one lol

Biscuit?  did someone mention biscuit?   lol...........Haven't had one of those for a couple of weeks now and no bread, potatoes or fruit but loads of vegies and an increase of protien.  Last night I made a yummy, yummy curried chicken and veg with rice............and the rice was the first carb I had eaten for the week other than what I got from the veg.  Sounds pretty strict but not really, I'm not hungry and I feel already a bit better on the energy front so that's a good thing.  We'll just see how long I can keep it up....lol......before I just have to have an icecream or such like......lol.  What I'm trying to do is cut out the bad fats and add in more of the good as well as cut the sugar and what I call 'white carbs' flour and potatoes.  I eat all day but I'm eating the right stuff instead of the wrong.......we all know those as they are always the favourites.  I really want t loose a bit before my knee op as I'm convinced that being just a bit lighter will aid my healing and won't put as much stress on the other knee as that also needs to be replaced.

    Hi Aussie cousins

Have been sitting watching TV, very tired because as Chrissy knows I try to do to much, its the other health problems that are playing up not the CB thankfully.

Talking about weight lose I haven't said much but but have been back at Weight Watchers and so far lost 6.7kg. It is very slow but I am really thrilled cause I know the Femara is not helping. Chrissy well done, and like you have lots to go but have broken it down to very small goals.

Had good support post mast from, BC nurse, surgeon and our District Nursing  and I know Stage IV girls can get help from a group called Sweet Louise - they will come and do house work etc for you.

Must be a wedding year as we ahve three wedding to attend the first one being on Saturday.

    Have a good day
