fire-dancer if you get nauseous from the anesthesia I hear there is something they can give you before hand. This was my first surgery so I didn't know that I would get nauseous. Found out my mother & sister do too. Mom told me about this.

Susan I too have been wearing cami's or nothing. Who needs these bras digging into your sides?

Hi Ladies - I am back from TCH 4 of 6!  And next big milestone is vacation in nince days to the keys!  Can't wait!

It is so fun to hear all the fun things everyone is doing , from auctions to dances, to biking, to bra fitting, to parties. This is ONE FUN GROUP!  And, you all are getting closer to your dates.

Megan, i can not believe you are less than a week out!  After I talked to my PS, he said right out - "this is a piece of cake".  You will be back at life in a couple of days. Easy!  SO, I am going with that. I can not wait to hear how yours goes!  I feel giddy for you all!  Mine is coming up too...June 7th!

Question - does anyone had a too large (spread) cleavage?  My PS said that he bring it in, but you never create a close cleavage, that is what is bra is for.  He said a close cleavage where the breasts touch is not anatomically correct.  Thoughts?  These twin girls are wide now...but then again, it really looks like two ginormous coconuts.

Since I am on steroids, it will be a busy day...hope you all are well!

I don't have cleavage (large spread) but I didn't before either. I'd like to be as close to looking like what I did before so I'm not concerned. Not even a push up bra gave me cleavage.

Your surgeon doesn't want you to end up with symmastia (uniboob). Yes this can happen, typically more common with small women (count me as one)… and a bad plastic surgeon.

Hi Cameron - I stopped taking it for "good measure" like you mentioned the Vit E.  I don't take anything regularly anyway except for a gummy vitamin too (dontcha just love em?!?!) and advil when needed.  I felt that I would try to clean out the ole system, I don't think there is anything wrong with Vit C, tho...it just happens that I only take the multi so I stoppped it.

The other weird thing I didn't notice on my list of pre-surgery notes from the first-go-round, but is on the "don'ts" list this time was no red grapes 1 week before surgery.  Maybe I missed this back during the bmx?  It's listed right after no red wine, something in the grape itself getting in the way of blood clotting...hmmm, no mention of white wine or green grapes, tho - haha!!!

Lago, the bmx was my 1st surgery too - I had no idea I would feel like such crap!  It took me a day and a half to be able to steady myself to get to the bathroom alone, my eyes could barely stay open, I felt sooo drugged & nausous.  They gave me the patch to wear for nausea, I think it took the edge off.  I mentioned this at my pre-op appt with the anesthesiologist and they said this time it's a much shorter surgery and I will get less drugs.  I just wonder about how I'll make it home without wanting to vomit ;-)  ...thanks for the info, I'm gonna ask about that!

Annie - so glad you get to go enjoy vacation - you deserve it!!!  Soak up some sun and relaxxxx!!! Smile

Yes, I was told by my PS I'd feel awesome, recovery is a piece of cake!  That's a relief to hear - although he did say more than once that I'd feel so good I would have to ignore the urge to be active, we might feel like we could vacume, lift stuff, but to RESIST THE URGE!!!  No one wants to find an implant that's slipped to a wacky location! Tongue out after all this - yikes!!!

About the cleavage-thing, yes - my TE's, or at least one of them has been hanging out under my armpit more than the other, which makes the cleavage "off".  At my pre-op appt, my PS said he would take that side and do some work to get them back centered,  I think this is when they do pocket work and add a few stitches inside where it "slipped" to secure the area (I could be wrong in my understanding, but I think that this is pretty close to what happens)  I WAS told that he would do his "best" in the cleavage dept, but there's no guarantee.  I was quite adamant about how important it was to me, but yeah, I'm starting to think I've set my goals too high after being used to the look of the TE's, the implants will never sit with this much projection, hence the bra shopping will commence post-surgery!

I'm so excited to be going for exchange with such a great group of gals!  I'm excited for each one of us!!!

I've heard of the "uni boob" on these threads and wondered about it - I guess it's a fine line between wanting cleavage and the foobs being too close...

OMG!  Lago, you always have the best links!!!  I wonder what the average distance between boobs/foobs is...just curious. i know all bodies are different!  I upt on a new swimpsuit and it was like va-voom. My 11 year old daughter said i looked "booby". I think that was a compliment!Kiss

Love coming to this thread...lots of laughs!

Megan - sounds like you are so prepared. Also sounds like your PS is listening to you and will make sure that you have a great outcome.  Yes, no vacuuming, no cleaning, no making food, no making kids lunches, no picking up after ANYTHING, no laundry, no nothing. Only shopping and watching the Real Housewives.  That is it.  OK?!!!

Annie mine are spread out a bit~don't touch.  My doctor told me about uni boob.  After seeing Lagos link I am very sure I don't want to deal with that.  My PS said its where my chest muscles are located.

Cameron I did stop all vits before surgery to keep things easy. I didn't want to get sick of course but I didn't want any bad reactions that I didn't know about.

The reason you need to stop vitamins before surgery is most vitamins have vitamin E in it. E is can thin your blood like aspirin type products.

    Annie and Meghan,

I never had cleavage prior to the implants and I barely have cleavage now.  the TEs were the closest I have ever been to having cleavage.  When I went in yesterday to see the nurse and get the eye stitches out (by the wya...easy surgery and they look great), I asked her about the cleavage issue.  She told me that if I didn't have clavage before, I wouldn't get it with the implants because the new boobs will sit on my small ribcage where my breasts would normally sit so tha there is a natural fit.  Over time, with the "smushing" up and down and sideways exercises that I have to do with the implants, they will settle and at some point, I could get a padded bra to push them in to create more cleavage.  Right now, they are very perky and look good (at least in my opinion and thenurse's opinion.  She gave me an A++ in terms of healing and asked if I wanted to not come back next week.  I decided to stay up here since I am 12 hours away and see the doctor one more time and then he can remove the boob stitches.  Seriously, this operation was so much easier than our first ones.  Good luck ladies!!!

GREAT NEWS ARLENE - so, great, great, great!  Your PS sounds like he/she knows what they are doing.  So great to hear about everyone's experience. I had already forgotten, that I had to push/pull/encourage by natural girls to "get a cleavage".  It was never easy!  Even in my push up bras i had to re-adjust periodically.  Funny how I have forgotten these little details.

So happy they are perky and looking good. Makes me smile.  I can already feel my new girls...

By the way, what kind of stitches did you get that need to be removed. I think I had all the absorable stiches on my BMX.  Is it different for the exchange. I had read about others having to do this too...

    Annie,

He put new incisions below the boobs and those stitches are the ones that need to be taken out.

What a fun group - you guys made me laugh out loud a few times. Wasn't expecting THAT on this website!

My exchange is 4/4. I was overfilled 40-50ccs. I'm hoping for a B+. I brought in a picture from when I'd flashed my husband when I was in my early 20s and said "I want that back." Before MX I was an AA after nursing 3 kids. Each time I nursed, I'd go up to a B+/C so it seems weird that my skin has to be stretched that much. It seems like the skin there is meant to stretch.

My pre-surgery notes said to go off all vitamins, but it didn't say anything about red grapes. Resveratrol is made from red grapes, and it's an anti-inflammatory, so it must be the same type thing. A lot of the natural things I take are anti-inflammatories (I have chronic lyme) so I have to go off all of that for 2 weeks ahead they said.

Are most PSs warm, compassionate people? Both my BS and my PS seem like touchy-feely people. Yes, I'm one of those New England people you guys were talking about before. Not a hugger. And my PS hugged me at Christmas and it was just plain weird. But he's a very sweet man and I joke with him too. Because I was adament that I wanted "normal" sized boobs, every time he sees me, he says something about giving me ginormous boobs. I'm in the overfill stage, and they just seem enormous to me. I also whack them on doorframes and things when I cut corners too fast. I sure hope the implants are easier to deal with.

I'm getting worried about bras now. I can't wear a bra because it gives me painful back spasms (which was why I didn't want big boobs). I haven't worn a bra since 2001. After the mastectomy I kept wrapping the ace bandage as loosely as possible, and then they wanted to wear a bra with prosthesis for compression, and I kept waking up crying trying to get the thing off me. The PS finally relented and I only ended up wearing it a week. So now I'm worried that some of you are saying you have to wear a bra for 2-6 weeks after exchange. I'll have to be on painkillers all that time. That rots.

I really do love you gals!! What a great thread.  Now we are taking about uniboobs!!!  Love it!

I feel so far behind you guys because of my delays!!!  I assure you that I will be bitching about my TE slipping to my arm pit or my lack of symmery or what-have-you soon enough!!!  Now that the incision is healed I will be getting a first fill next week.  PS says, it wont take long to fill me up but that is SUCH a relative thing!!!  What does that exactly mean, sir???  Will I get to go swimming in a fab new suit BY summer?  Sometime DURING summer?  Hmmm???  LOL

I did get to go to my first Zumba class today since surgery - 7 weeks!!! My BFF came with me today and made sure I didnt do anything stupid and I was very good not to overdo!  We'll see how the arm feels tomorrow I am sure.  Ive been finding it achy when I am on my computer - but feels fine when I am in motion.

LOL - i love you all too!  I laughed at the whacking on the doorframe.  I did do some hugging recently.  A friend commented on how big they were. I did not even feel like I was hugging her.  So, then I got home, pulled my husband in our closet (away from the curious eyes of the 7,11,13 year olds) and made him hug me a bunch of different ways.  He final comment was "they are big and hard".  Nice.  So, I guess i have been giving big and hard hugs - THAT I CANNOT FEEL - to anyone and everyone who has hugged me.  Good grief!

Sue - do you have a tentative date?  That was crucial for my mental health.  My PS thought I was so crazy to schedule 3+ months out.  But it has really helped.  I am thinking i will be waterskiing at the cabin by 4th of July.  Not even sure I will be able to waterski...maybe just drinking a nice cold beer as I watch the others!.  A girl can dream....

Hi Ladies!--this is my first post :) I am having a revision the 31st. Only I am going bigger. I had a c bbc and now i am very small--to small for my frame. because of this--- my implants move around :( It is painful. I don't look right either. I don't want to be too big----I have to wear a sports bra night and day because of the movement. I was told if I get bigger implant they will stop moving. I only had my implants put in 9.10. Hope this works---It will be nice to put surgery behind me--this will be my 6th....Have a nice day everyone :)

Hi Susan--I didn't read the answers you received and how you are/what you decided to do before posting.

I was a 38A before my unilateral mastectomy. People said "Oh cool, you can do the other side and get big boobs!" A guy friend even said that I would get more dates...lol! I decided that I am who I am (me and Popeye) and as Jeanie, I have always had small breasts and never felt inadequate for it, seldom wore a bra, and liked that. I was never rejected for having small boobs-that I know of--and if a guy is that shallow, I don't want to know him!

So now I have a breast on my right side that is as close to my original A as plastic surgery can come. My natural breast is still "perky" (no kids) so I have an even match. I don't care if I get "droopy" on one side and the implant stays high--I can just camouflage. (Or if I want, "augment").  I will have to read back and see how you are doing. I hope things are wonderful.

And LOL on the hugging!!!  Now that I am healed, I dont feel anything either....well, on one side.  I hugged my friend so tight today and dont think I noticed either way.  hmmm.

Annie ~ Congrats on being  over 1/2 way through the chemo! And vacationing in the Keys?! How delightful!!  You crack me up visuallizing you having your husband "test hug" you in the closet!! lol!  "His final comment ~ they are big and hard" ........... that's what she said. Tongue out

Sue ~ So glad you got back to Zumba!!  Hope your arm doesn't stay achey!

Lago ~ I've never had cleavage in my former life either.  I actually kinda like the "open cleavage" look personally.  And my PS reminded me, and I agree... there is no "natural" cleavage..that just doesn't happen in nature.  That's what bras are for! :)  I def would not want the uniboob!! ...I would have thought it would be "impossible" to achieve that when implants are subpectoral?

Meg ~ I have alot of "play" on my skin too..my TE's don't feel tight at all.... you are less than a week away!!!!!!!!!

Arlene ~ It's great to hear you are doing so well!  And your eyelid stiches are already out? .. I might seriously have to ask my PS about doing this!! :)

KJ ~ Welcome to the Jungle! ;P  Your surgery is just around the corner!!  Too bad about the back spasms! I sure hope you will be able to go braless :)

Meg & Lago.. the BMX was my first surgery as well (if you don't count wisdom teeth at 18 :) , so I was really nervous going in since I didn't know what to expect.... my PS gave me the anti nausea patch that I put behind my ear for 3 days, starting the day before surgery.  It seemed to work.. I only got sick the next day when I tried to get up too fast..but felt better after my first meal.

Boy, it sure sounds like most of us will be through the exchange and be showing off our new girls come summertime!!!  Maybe not in a bikini for me... but depending on how much fat grafting I end up getting...you never know! Tongue out

Sadeyes2 ~ Wow, six surgeries! Sorry you have had to go through all that.. I hope this one will be your last! :)

Hi Jeanie!!  I wouldn't want a guy that didn't want me if I had small boobs either! ~ Sounds like you are very happy with your choice. :) .... I am a little over a month out from my exchange surgery.  I am currently expanded to 430ccs which seems to equate to maybe a 34C/36B on me with the expanders....so I'm hoping for a nice full B with the implants. (My PS doesn't overfill).

Speaking of the hugging and not feeling anything.  I was worried that it would really bother me (not having some feeling)...but I really don't seem to notice / or have just gotten used to it.  Or maybe because it feels SO much better now then when the TE's still felt so tight under my muscle and now it's more relaxed?  I can't even imagine how the implants will feel! :)

Well to be fair my first surgery was the US biopsy but you're awake for that… granted I was scared shitless. When they ask you questions like "do you bleed a lot?" and tell you about hematomas and they are going to cut into you and take pieces of stuff out it's a bit scary.Oh and of course one of the complications of any surgery if you had read the consent form is death.

Yeah I had wisdom teeth out as well as 14 other extractions at various times when I was younger and tonsils when I was 5 but that isn't like getting cut open.

BTW the biopsy was pretty easy. The lydercaine wore off by the time I got dressed but the pain was gone 20 minutes later by the time I got home.

Love to hear your great news, Arlene - glad all is going well!

kjbrown - good for you for exchange date, it's coming fast!

Sue - I know it might not seem it, but the fills will go fast, because it will keep you busy, at least that's how I felt.  I think back and even though January (when I 'really' started fillng) seems so far away, it has gone by in a blink.  I went every week pretty much for fills and the wait time of 6 weeks even went fast - but don't worry, we'll all still be here having fun and helping to pass the time with you! Smile  Our great humour knows no bounds!!!

Yeah, Annie - I saw a dear friend this wknd for the1st time since surgery- she was "like wowza!  they are like rocks" when we hugged...all I said was "told ya!" ;-)

...and I love it - just me and the remote catching up on the Real Housewives - might have to "milk" this recovery a bit "oh, honey, could you pick up the kids, yeah - I reallllly need the rest"   ...*as I flip the channel to the newest episode* ;-) ....

sadeyes - good luck with your next surgery, sounds like you've been thru a lot with this recon-stuff, hope this surgery is the ticket!

Jeanie - good for you - being happy in your own skin is the most important thing - glad you are sticking with what works for you!

Susan - I totally LOL'ed at your 'thats what she said comment'!!!!!!

...and again I must say I secretly wish my PS offered fat grafting to me - after all of this, I would love the reward of losing the baby pouch!  ...it seems like a month ago everything was sooo much further away, after my exchange yours is juuuust around the corner - I am really excited for everyone's results!

Lago - when I went in for the biopsy it was a whirlwind...I think they "saw" something on a Thursday and I had my biopsy on a Monday...I didn't have time to do anything but freak out about not knowing what the hell was going on? biopsy?!?! really?!?!  ...and looking back, to think that I thought that was a pretty intense procedure, I had nothing to compare it to, only dental work!

...yeah, and the death forms are such a pleasure, right?!?! I joked with my husband that if I "went" all I'd have to fork over in my will was an old boom box and some cd's Tongue out   ...the nerves were completely shot at that point!!!

Fire- I hope it goes as fast as you said...I was hoping to be further along by now - 5 weeks delay - and with spring 'springing' it makes me want to go shopping for clothes NOW!!!  Ugh.

I kind of wish I had more belly to offer up too....I have a flap of skin where my former flat belly was...the doc said I couldve used it if I wanted to match what I was before but at that point, (I was shopping for implants before DX anyway) I just went ahead with plan A.  My BFF had a 'mini' after her son was born and man I envy that flat belly she's got!!  Soon Ill have better boobs though! LOL

Megan ~ I got you beat for a biopsy whirlwind ;) ... I had my mammogram at 9 am... ultrasound by 11am ....then they had me come back at 1pm for the biopsy!  So I didn't have time to freak out either...I actually went back to work after the ultrasound because I didn't know what to do while I waited for the biopsy!  I think I was in shock.  The radiologist told me she was 95% sure it was cancer.

I remember those "death forms" too at the surgery!!  Sounds like you guys (Megan and Lago) were able to joke about it too!  (like you said, Megan, our nerves are pretty shot at this point!)  Apparently, after I woke up from surgery...one of the first things I said was, "You didn't pull the plug when you had the chance?" to my husband.  I don't remember that! Tongue out

Sue ~ I may have missed how often your PS does fills.... mine did them weekly (about 60cc/time) and I was done by mid Jan (so about 6 weeks after surgery).  So I'm assuming you may be done with fills by May at the latest?  Exchange by July at the latest? :)

My friend also had a mini-tummy tuck too (and gives me her "fat" hand me downs!)Undecided ... but like you said... we'll have perkier boobs!  (well... at least until she decides to go have THAT done too! lol!)

holy cow - talk about no time to think, Susan!  That's amazing how fast they acted and got you in, at least you didn't have time to agonize over it, but yeah, definite whirlwind! - no one would "commit" that they were seeing anything other than calcs, but I knew it couldnt be good when the nurses/staff kept checking on me & I was the LAST one there for mamms/US, everyone else went in and left - I just sat there in my johnny-top thinking uh-oh, this isn't good!

...and about the forms - I was completely fly by the seat of my pants and had nothing "formal" for myself written up prior - um, maybe I can blame denial for that... ;-) ...I was such a wreck about them for bmx, I just handed everything to my hub and told him to tell me where to sign - good golly, he coulda signed me away and I'd never have known!  ...this time around I'll be sure to razz him about how I'll be checking them twice!!

About the fills, I was pretty much the same time-frame as you, Susan 60 cc's till I got to 450 cc's about 7 fills, so about 6-7 weeks with 6 weeks to'sit' after.Sue, ask yoru PS how he does fills, this might help you "plan" if possible

...I'd love the whole package, perky boobs annnnd the flat tummy, I almost feel entitled after all this - why, oh whhhhy didn't he offer it? I am sure my belly's got enough to "smooth out" the slope up top! Tongue out

Seriously, does your PS just not do fat grafting period?  Like you said...after all this, I feel like we should deserve a little treat!  Funny...I would have never seriously considered plastic surgery...but now that the "damage is done" .... I'm finding myself thinking ... "eye lid surgery? hmmm..maybe I should" ... "pay for a little EXTRA lipo? ...hmmmm... why not?!!"
