Hi All.  This is my first attempt at posting.  BMX 2/15.  I have mentor 650 exanders & currently am filled to 400cc.  I've been trying to convince my PS that I really liked 350ccs.  I too want to be small, willowy, athletic, boyish - whatever is the opposite of the 36DD I was before surgery.  There has to be some compensation for the loss.  Like Fluff Queen, I'm sort of tall - 5'8", so I'm told I may have to fill more.  I did get some advice from Whippetmom - and thanks very much - and am scheduled for the Allergan 410 research implants.

Yes Insurance is paying for some new bras from Nordstroms.  It seems in Houston that you pay up front and Nordstroms files with Medicare, who will reimburse me directly.  I don't have my paperwork yet, but I think it's around 50%.  Don't know if my medigap will pick up any of the balance.  She brought in at least 50 bras - many very lacy & feminine.  I got one Wacoal & one Amoena.  You do need an Rx from your doc.  I also have an Rx for camisoles that I didn't use.

I have really appreciated the opportunity to read all of your posts.  I with I'd started reading before surgery since I'm learning so much every day.  Thanks to all of you.

I am not sure what size I ended up with after exchange. The PS said he was going for a full B. I was fitted to wear a D. I can tell I'm bigger than before (I was a small B on one side, large A on the other) but it is really impossible to know if I truly am the full B or a small C. I'm a bit larger than I wanted but it is not much of a difference and is not making me unhappy. BUT, when the Nordstrom fitter put me in a padded bra, well, that I did not like at all. I bought it because I tried it on and looked great in the mirror. But when I put my own clothes over it, that extra padding just pushed me to a size that was NOT okay with me. It was making me unhappy.

So I ordered some bras without padding online. I got some recommendations off of the Bras 101 thread. The Anita 5690 is my favorite.

I never liked padded bras....in junior high when I was a AAA, I tried on padded bras and didn't like them then (and thats many decades ago)....ppost exchange and revisions, I don't wear a bra....I have 200cc midprofile silicone implants and do well without a bra.....I was lopsided with my expanders so really haven't worn bras except post surgery since the whole BC saga....I hope you get teh look that you are after....

I had been a 34C for years, was a 32B in high school.  My TE's are 375cc's and I expect to end up a nice B when this is all done.

I have worn non-padded, no underwire bras forever.  Underwires gave me bruises and I felt like I didn't need any padding.  I pull the underwires out of bathing suits!   Maidenform had a model that I bought repeatedly for  20 years.  They still have a similar one, but for full figures.    This one starts at 34D and goes up from there.

Minus two~ I'm glad you are able to get the figure you've wanted! I like that look too. :) Do you know when you may be having your exchange surgery?

Ann97~ I know what you mean about trying on some of those padded/pushup bras and just feeling ridiculous in them!

Karen1956~ How nice that you don't have to wear a bra. I would think at 200cc they don't have gravity working on them too much. :)

Michelle~ I rarely, if ever, wore underwires either. I guess I will see if I want to when I try them on after I'm a little bit further out from my exchange.

I'm about 10 days out from the exchange and so far so good. I still think I'm going to end up measuring a 36c technically because of the width,as they say, but I look like a nice full B. Plus the fact that I got the med high profile makes 'em look more "natural" I think. All my clothes still fit. I can wear my same tanks and scoop neck tops and I don't have foobs spilling out the top or cleavage to hide at work. Everything just looks a little better and padded bras aren't needed to make certain tops fit right like before. I know, a significant percentage end up needing revisions, so im gonna cross my fingers and hope things continue going well!

Susan Im so happy youre liking your look!!!  36C eh???  Do we have to bump YOU off your own thread now?  LOL

Well, to add insult to injury, I got a letter from our local clinic this weekend saying "accoriding to the results from your biopsy in November, you are due for a 6 month followup mammogram on your right breast".....REALLY????  You can find it in some lab somewhere because I dont have it anymore!  I would like a replacement, however.

Back to bras....my old ones with underwires are KILLING me so I cut the wires out.  But it IS reallyhard to find bras without padding and wires these days.  Ugh

Sue~ you should go to the clinic and have them try to mammogram your hard TE! ;). Right before my exchange surgery, the nurse calls to get some preliminary info. One of her questions was if I've has surgery recently. "yes" ....for what? "uhhhhhhh...a bilateral mastectomy, have you read my info?" lol!

That must be especially hard for you, Sue, finding a comfortable bra right now..I forget you have your natural side you have to think about too! Not too much longer though...E-day will be here before you know it! :)

Sue - that's crazy - seriously, ...but I laughed out loud at your quippy response on here!  ...that'd really put the office who sent it in their place, no one would have a clue how to respond to that one!!!

I'm feeling pretty good about the new gals lately...I wrote this on another thread, but wanted to share it with you guys, too - I saw pics of myself from last summer the other night.  I happened to be wearing the same top in the pics as I was wearing that night.  Although the change was obvious, I was so bony in the chest-region before, it was somewhat nostalgic, but overall - I must say I filled the shirt out better now, I think ;-)   It also reminded me to not be so damn critical of these new boobs, I am always staring at them with a super-sensitive eye...they really are great, but I am always looking for the "imperfection"...anyways, it was refreshing to look at the pics and feel pretty good about the turn of events (exchange-wise) and that I am fortunate (so far) with my outcome...when I get uber-critical my lovely hub chimes in with "your real boobs weren't perfect either, remember?!?!"  He means this in a joking/gentle reminder way, hmmm, funny that I can forget how I used to complain that one was bigger than the other, they were both so saggy and impossible to "prop up" in a bra! Wink  well, anyway, it was`a good reminder to relax a little on the two "new additions" that sit upon my chest now, they are new to the neighborhood, too and need some time to adjust, too ;-)

...ok, I just re-read that last part, and it's pretty cheesy!!! LOL

Speaking of small anyone know about small areolas? I didn't have big ones and I'd like to stay that way. Do they only have a few "stencil" sizes or what? Hope they don't make mine too dark either.

Lago: I'm pretty sure you can get anything you want as far as that goes! With tattooing you can control how dark they make 'um. Skin grafting gives you one color but depending on where they take the graft from, that might work for you too.

The latter is what my PS is planning to do with me, tho I don't know if nips will still be an option for me. Gotta heal my TE enough first to get filled (which hasn't happened yet), then have both sides heal properly *after* exchange (which is months away), then have nips done...? Not sure I can go through it!

Anyone decided to go "no nips"?

Rennasus I considered it but after reading about those who did do it I'm going for it. They all say this really is the finishing touch. My PS uses the local skin already there.

What is the typical time between exchange and the nip (local skin) approach?  Lago, do you already have the nips/tats scheduled?  I only have the exchange booked at this time....

Are most of you having your PS do all the final work (nips and tats)?  I see many ladies go to tatoo artists.  My PS seems excited to do this part, wonder if I should ask to see photos of his work.  I also am thinking small and light color, do not want to have to wear a bra.

No I don't have the nip/tats scheduled. I need to do my exchange on the 27th before they schedule anything else.

Mine is on June 7th and I thought I would do the same...nips/tats discussions later.  My PS does both, though he referenced his nurses as being the experts in the tattoo arena. Not sure what kind of experience they have...I kind of wonder though!  I, too, want lighter ones.  I think.  I guess it would depend on my scars, because it would be nice if the tattoos covered (a bit) of the scar!

    Lots to think about!

Susan and Megan - yep and I have to call for a yearly on my left one so I am WAITING for them to notice in the system that I am due for Righty too....Ill have to go OFF on themWink Its funny because that day I remember the receptionist saying "so is this for Sarah?" (my DD) and my answer was 'um, no - she is 12.  This would be for her mother".  COME ON PEOPLE!

Lago - mine are small - Id be happy to be your nip model if you'd like. Tongue out Do you have 'before' photos you can show for size/color?   I have photos but I also still have her matching friend.  Mine are rather light though since I am so fair skinned.

I am definitely going for a nip and tattoo....my left one has excellent projection and after years hidden in a padded bra, I cant wait to have a little headlight action for my hubby sometimes.  But if my areola tattoo fades, I doubt I would do them over....I think both are worth a first try.  The finished product and all.

Suebee I thought all PS take before pictures. Mine did but I do have a set I took the night before my BMX. Haven't taken any other pictures of them since then. I guess I should take a photo of the fully inflated TE's before the exchange. I'm pretty fair too

Lago - Perhaps they do....mine didnt!  But like I said we are military so I am sure that has something to do with it?  We too before pix the night before UMX and then at ever stage of expansion so far.  But its more for DH....he wanted to.  I will probably start a thread on the photo boards when I get closer to Eday.  I never thought my nips we small until I saw some other photos...its OK with me...they go with the rest of me!!!

Maybe because the hospital is a teaching hospital and he's an assistant professor. Granted he's in private practice so I'm sure he wants before and afters. (yes I gave permission). He even took pictures of me a few weeks after the final expansion.

I never realize that I had really decent (although small) breasts until I saw all the before and afters (not on timtam site) online. I really didn't sag. Seemed to me that most women ended up with a better looking set from my initial Internet search when I was 1st diagnosed.

I've seen some amazing tattoo work on the picture threads!  But I've also seen some not so great work...so I would definitely ask to see photos of ones they have actually done. :)

....and I'm just sitting hear laughing to myself at the thought of a new thread...

Nipples ~ Anyone go/stay SMALL?? Tongue out

lago~ my PS takes before, during and afters.  He does mostly reconstruction work (MX and also excessive weight loss) so he had plenty of photos to look at.  Though I noticed he didn't have pics during the TE process ~ Just before BMX surgery and 6 months after implant exchange.  I volunteered for him to photograph my progression through the TE's, right after surgery, etc, because I thought it would be really helpful for new BC patients to see the process and make it less scary and unknown.  He thought it was a great idea.  He said oftentimes women are not so willing to share their "headless torso glamour shots" publicly.

I know being able to see the pics on TimTam's site was invaluable to me mentally.

Susans Garden:  I'm just hoping I can get willowy, athletic, etc.  Everytime I see the PS he keeps saying "bigger".  His nurse does drains, fills, etc. so you don't see the PS w/o a special reason.  Sigh.  Another battle coming up next Monday to stop fills.

Exchange scheduled for 9/13, but I hope I'm done filling.

I always hated my breasts because they were so small but then my PS said "oh you'll do great....you have young skin, your even and symmetrical.  Youll get great results" and I wanted to kiss him.  Compliments on my breasts is not something I was used to getting!

Susan I can see the trepidation about sharing the glamour shots but I agree that the Photo Forum has been a tremendous help and I appreciate everyone who has shared their journey.

Nips - anyone going to stay small?  Me me meeee!!!  LOL

MinusTwo:  Good luck with your upcoming battle Monday!!

Suebee: I wasn't used to getting "compliments" about my breasts either!  When I first took off my shirt and the PS nurse said, oh they are PERFECT for an NSM... I later called my friend and when she answered the phone I said, "Finally! An advantage to having SMALL breasts!!" ... well... it wasn't actually my friend that answered her cell phone... it was her 14 year old daughter who stammered... "uh..okay...um ... my mom's not here right now."  Good times, good times.

So bummed! I probably won't be back here for another three months. During the surgery yesterday, it was determined that the infection from the pseudomona was too great to save the expanders, which were fully filled and ready to exchange in 7 weeks after I finished chemo.

Everything had to be removed and now I am just flat. I hate it and hate looking at it. I can't have any reconstruction done for three months now. By then though, I will be all done with the chemo stuff.

So...good luck to everyone over the next few months! I hope the next set for me looks as good as the first set because I thought my expanders looked fabulous! Felt like baseballs, but looked great.

I had a pity party for myself today and now am moving on. Have decided if this is the worse setback I have then it is not that big a deal.
