GORGEOUS!!!!! Well worth the effort, sweetie!!!! What was the first colour of flower your DD wanted on the back of her dress? Where were all the hearts you crocheted? Did I miss them in the pics??

Barbe the hearts are under the tulle at the back of the dress and around the base of the flower. The color of the tulle in the first instance was to be black with the latte hearts and a pale pink flower but she decided she didn't like the effect so changed it to what you see. The hearts are hard to see in my snaps but I'm hoping when we see the 'official' photos that Steen captured them much better.
He has posted five shots from the day and if they are just a sample then I can't wait to see them all........they are amazing! I will show you all a sample........

Here's one of my latest projects
Weird, it rotated the image. The blocks are set on point. The backing is the blue paisley. Need to get some binding on it now.0 -

my paper pieced center for my class project will have multiple borders, appliquéd leaves & compass roses. The dark blue will be outside border and the braids will be a middle border. I need to fix one segment of yhe compass.0 -

it's just a wall hanging. My sadistic teacher couldn't make us make anything very big because she crams so many hard techniques into six classes. I just love her, but man, does she ever make us stretch. I'm doing better. I think I cried over something on my beginners class quilt.0 -
It sounds like that teacher is a good one......lol......even though I know you want to hate her at times. She is teaching you some really good stuff and you will thank her as you start putting your projects together.
Once you have learnt the techniques you can make anything! I am self taught in all that I do but have wished at times that there was a class or two I could attend to polish my techniques......lol. Unfortunately where I live there is not even a store to buy crafty stuff and I have to wait till I go to the city to get supplies.0 -

Look on the news for the winner of the art quilt contest. It would be a good painting, but it's really a quilt. The first prize was $200,000. Like any quilter, she's going to use the money to buy a new sewing machine, more fabric, and enlarge her studio.0 -
i wanted to do her hand appliqué class next week but nobody has signed up, so doesn't look like the class will make. I've bought most of my fabric online. The lady who owns the quilt store near me has very different taste in fabric than I do.0 -

That $200,000 quilt makes me ill. I've done many, many wall quilts like that and never won $200,000!!! The most I've ever been paid is $1,200!!!! The trick is to do it in one piece and then cut it apart. Thus the unity. The pieces are probably just torn and then free-motioned on. Good for her, though! (There was a time when regular artists would draw on fabric and then quilt it and try to submit it as a quilted piece. Caused quite a rucus!!) I'll try to find some of what I've done. I like to find stone houses or churches on mls.com and then print the picture out and make up the wall art. There used to be fabulous "stained glass" fabric that I used for the church windows.0 -

DH and I are in charge of putting on a koi show, and it is coming up this weekend. We have spent every waking moment that we are not at work, working on the show so there has not been any time for stitching or crafting. A couple of days ago I got a crazy idea to make some little banners to go on the winners' tanks so that's about all the sewing I've done lately.0 -
i'll bet the koi show is a lot of work. My cousin shows dogs and I know how much goes into that.
Here's the top, almost completed, but the applique is not fused down. I finished that, and we sandwiched and started quilting in class last night.

Thanks Chrissy. I'm having so much fun! The fabric really makes this but doesn't photograph very well. It really is pretty. I'm going to have to use dark blue thread to quilt down the lighter leaves so they'll show up on the background.0
