Melissa you could see the sparkles on it when you posted a sample of your block so I can imagine just how beautiful that top really is.

When you do any sort of craft you should enjoy it otherwise its a chore and you tend to not want to keep going. I'm so glad you are having a lot of fun doing the quilting.

Melissa, as Chrissy says, you are truly gifted!!! Don't you just LOVE looking at new fabric and wondering how it will look cut up??? When Alyson visited me from NZ I was showing her my craft room. (T'was truly a mess, but I don't apologize for it!!) I picked up a bag of fabric I had bought recently and pulled out the fabric to show her. "Great!" I said, "Now it's used and I can buy some new stuff!" We then went to my local quilt store...hehehehehehhehe

Barbe, in a way I am saved from myself by my local quilt store where I have been taking all my classes. Their taste in fabric is very different than mine, and when they do have something I like they don't have a wide enough variety of things that goes with it. I fall in love with lines of fabric and they never stock them. I am more restrained in ordering things online because I don't want to run up my credit card bill.

Thanks Chrissy the sheep are fleece I appliqued. Isn't there something about weddings and new babies for creating.

    I loved your daughter's wedding.

Thanks Quinn........I just have to be doing something but oh yes, babies and weddings sure do get that creative flare happening........lol.

I learnt a new technique for crochet a couple of weeks ago so now I'm applying it to an antimacassar set for a friend.......it's called Bavarian Crochet and it's really nice as it has a texture to it. It would also work well for thicker things as in rugs etc.

Quinn, that baby quilt is adorable!!! How clever to apply the fleece for the baby's touch!! You have done well and I'm guessing this isn't your first rodeo, so we are looking forward to seeing more of your art!

I looked up Bavarian crochet. I've seen it before but didn't realize it had a name. Is it fun to do?

Nice baby quilt. I'd like another baby around to make a quilt for. Step Daughter had a baby in July, but the last quilt I made for her she left at out house for nearly a year. She just doesn't appreciate things from me.

This weekend I got a bit motivated in the the sewing area. I put some buttons back on some of DH's clothes and I finally made the bed skirt for the guestroom actually fit the bed. I downsized from a queen to a twin trundle before we moved here, and I have been using safety pins ro make it fit. It wasn't really creative, but it was gratifying to get a few things out of the sewing room.

Thanks for looking at my baby quilt. No I'm not a new quilter but now that I am retired I get to quilt when I want. I crocheted years ago, a friend at work would teach on breaks and at lunch, we had fun.

Here is a quilt I made for a dear friend for her birthday. Boy was she surprised.

You have all shared your work so I thought I would show you one of my first attempts at quilting after being away from it for almost 40 years!

    Hugs to all. AJ

It is wonderful. I really need to get some of my quilts actually quilted. I'd feel like I could justify doing another quilt top or two.

Melissa - was there a pattern that you were using for your class? Your quilt is stunning and has so many skills used to create it. I was wondering if you could give me the name/designer of the pattern if there was one. Thanks, AJ

Elismo, are you talking about the Mariners Compass with braids? It is my teacher's pattern, but I don't see the pattern being sold stand-alone on her website. I'll email her and ask her if it is available outside of taking the class.

I love your quilt. Great sampler and I love the fabric/colors.

AJ, your quilt is just gorgeous! You have such a gift for choosing color and you use it well.

I have been working on some crochet using a new technique that I learned.........Meece you asked if it is fun to do and my answer is it's an easy one to do as it's just the way the stitches which are trebles are put together.

image It hasn't been blocked yet but this is what it looks like. I have used No. 8 crochet cotton.

I'm trying to crochet a foob. I found some yarn that's silk and bamboo and really really soft. I'm making up my own pattern. I made one out of material and microbeads, so have an idea what I'm aiming for. My microbead foob is too large and I need a smaller one. I don't wear the silicone to the animal shelter. Wouldn't want a claw to pierce it. Pretty unlikely but it would be very expensive.

Love the crochet and it looks intricate Chrissy. I mailed the baby quilt to California, hope it makes it safe and sound.

Wren, I have felt that silk/bamboo yarn. I'd go for crocheting a whole bra with a foob in it. That yarn is amazingly soft!

Hey where are all the beautiful creative folks on this thread?? I've been lurking and so enjoying all your work (and hoping some day to do something creative) but I live vicariously thru all of you for now ... did you jump to another thread? (pun intended ... lol)

    Hugs from Canada, Patti

Hi Patti, life and family seem to have robbed me of my time for crafting at the moment as well as preparing some of my photos to be hung in an exhibition at the local gallery........mmm, and just a thought, maybe the helter skelter of getting organized for the holidays has kept others otherwise occupied as well.......lol.......I promise that things will return to normal.

In the mean time you can always re read what has already been posted if you need a fix.

Love n hugs n Happy Holidays to you. Chrissy

LOVE it!!!! Looks very romantic Alyson, and I wonder if Chrissy has even sat in that chair in your home?

I have been knitting my heart out so each girl is getting those new kind of wrist mittens where the fingers are exposed and an infinity scarf for Christmas. Each family is getting an afghan and I embroidered a stocking over a printed panel for the new babe to be born in January but then my DD wanted one made for Zach, so I'll have to put his name on it when I finish it. I'm pretty happy with Santa's beard as I did it with thin white ribbon and just "scooped" little bits of ribbon and tacked them down with white thread to made a 3D beard. I wish I could post pics......I'll try again.

just checking in to say Hi. We had an ice storm last Thursday and a falling tree limb pulled my phone line down, so just got my internet back today. Just thanked my lucky stars my power stayed on this time.

I'm trying to finish the quilting on a largish throw quilt for a present. I really need to get with it.

DS had surgery and was staying with us and it just seems there hasn't been enough time to relax and craft. I want to do something creative, but holiday stuff is crowding in. I cannot find all of the snowflakes I made this past year! I know I starched them all and put them in a clear zippered pouch. But where is the pouch????

Oh my gosh! You made a ton of them too. Look in linens? Using method of "looks like....".
