Granny, sending you hugs whenever I can...I know you are tired of being strong.   I believe your son does not hate you.  Being sick and in pain just sucks the life out of people.  I am so sorry for this and am still saying prayers.  I lit a candle lite a week ago and it is on 24/7 and it reminds me to pray...it just keep glowing.
    Hugs & prayers....

Edit - PS - throwing pain into the fire tonight.

Granny, sending hugs and much lovingkindness to you, your son, and your family.  We all know how pain can take its toll, and we generally do not actually hate those who try to help us, and I am sure your son is just tired and frustrated and lashing out at the persons closest to him - namely YOU. Tough love is what is often needed when the gentle approach doesn't work.  For you I am sending gentle love because you are already tough!

RiderGirl, yes take a bit of fire with you, in a jar or like the ancients, an ember in an amulet.

Rider, wish we could carry the fire with us and feel the glow...and not feel the cold or harshness of the world ...sorry about your round of Txl ... I pray that you will have minimal SEs and be able to sleep and rest as needed.  Sending positive thoughts & hugs to the sisters here...
One thing I'm sure of here...winter's not done yet.  (18 degrees tonight)

Granny, I didn't know anything was going on. I am sure glad to see all the support you have here and want to add my support as well. I am not too good at comforting phrases  but hope you know it is in my heart.

One of my sons has had a series of major operations and it was always me he would be hateful toward in the hospital. Many told me it was because he was safe with me to express how he felt. He has also over time, decades, told me he remembers and is sorry. Your son is likely acting out on you in the same way.

Please be very gentle with yourself during this time.

    Love and hugs

Joan, that is a great cartoon!  Thanks for a laugh this morning.

Started this morning off with hot cocoa and raisin toast with DH; it is sonwoing and cold outside.  We are preparing for a weekend of work to get ready for the floor installers to put in new hardwood floors in most of the house, so it was a nice way to ease into the day.  Thinking of all you wonderful ladies by the fire this morning, offering you some cocoa with us.

Linda - thanks for the hot cocoa, good luck with the wood floors.

I found some dark choc morsels and will make tollhouse cookies with them.

Double batch so there's enough to share!  L&H&P's to all  ((GrannyD))

Linda, snowing here too, but not until about 8 PM.  Good for you - soon you will have beautiful new floors.  I need same badly; but first comes baths then yard clearing, then floors & kitchen (years here).
Badger, am kind of too full for the cookies...had gourmet birthday cupcakes with DS who came in from Chicago to NYC to celebrate. He goes back Tuesday, but I won't see him again.  I am sad that he had to move so far to get a job in this economy.  And he just had to cool off a deep friendship because this sweet girl back here in NY fell in love with him.  I just wanted a happy ending for them. Undecided  I'm not supposed to have favorites, but DS#1 has my heart.
Essa, I join you in throwing Granny's stress and her DS's health issues into the fire.
Happy Super Bowl Sunday...even though I don't buy into all the hype.

Another day of snow & more on the way this weekend. If I hear one more story of someone at my workplace tropical vacation I think I will scream. Sorry..small pity party today. All I can see are huge medical bills & needing a small getaway.

These folks who claim to be weather forecasters... They're going into the fire! I mean one weather model tells them we can expect 5 inches of snow-- while a second weather model tells them we can expect 2 feet of snow. So which one is it? Are they a bunch of entertainers? How can we take them seriously? They get paid for peddling such garbage? I guess if we could make it through Sandy and three weeks without power, 2 feet of snow shouldn't be that big of a deal... Oh, then again the potential for 60 mph winds with the storm can be a little worrisome...

Oh goddesses, let's hope it's not too bad...it's ONLY Mother Nature....

VR & pegs - I call them weather guessers instead of forecasters.

I'd like to be wrong that much and still get paid, heck still have a job.

Throwing into the fire a heap of political BS, it will keep the fire burning a long time.

    L&H&P's to all

    Hi Godesses,
I also am awaiting the snow...first a dusting, then warming and heavy rain, then a mix, high winds, and all snow.  Chances of having power all week end??? Not sure.  I am not in any mood to be snowbound with no power.
My colleague and assistant department chair is a meteorologist and he provides local forecasts.  I have to say, this time he was really good, explaining why the uncertainty.  He thinks we still can get less than a foot; but the tv media are going for the big numbers.  If it cools down quickly, more snow.  If the storm stays off shore longer and moves east, less snow for me.  It doesn't matter...it will be pretty awful for awhile.
Granny's home for awhile to get some rest as her DS continues to improve slowly.  Too bad she now has to deal with a stormy week end.
Stay safe and keep warm by the fire.
    Joan

Grannydukes...I tend to be a little lazy...so do NOT make me do extra work by having to get up and drag you back to the light, warmth and camraderie of this bonfire. We need your light up here too much to hide it under a bushel my dear!!

Granny,  I am trying to be somewhat lazy today too.  Don't make me have to help geewhiz bring you back to the fire.  We do need you here with us. We have missed you terribly.  Baby steps sweetie.  Take it one day at a time.

Granny, I am right there with the other girls here, with a stadium blanket and lawn chairs so we can sit by the fire, watch the flames leap high, mesmerizing flames that warm us, crackling pops and hisses, scent of wood smoke, open arms to hug you. Do you prefer hot cocoa, hot toddy, or whisky neat tonight??

Wishing you all a good night.
