Granny - It is kinda quiet here.  Perhaps that means everyone is doing well and out enjoying the weekend.  I can't think of a thing I need to burn.  I will meet you down by the fire and we can warm ourselves and share some hot chocolate.

Thank you so much for your support!  I am trying to let it go but as of yet have not spoken to my father.  I have no idea what to say?  So I say nothing at all.  Honestly, it is a long and sorted story- but if he can just leave me out of it I think I am good.  I am lucky in many other ways.

    Hugs to all of you.

I hope I have enough for everyone.  I have been busy roasting the marshmallows for the top of the hot chocolate.  Looks yummy doesn't it?

Don't have anyone specific to toss in today, but tossing in neuropathic pain AGAIN!!!!  Had about 6 weeks of relief, now back to misery.  Have appointment on Wednesday with pain specialist, hoping for another minor miracle and a few more good weeks. If that's what it takes to wake up and not be disappointed that I am still alive, then I will put yet another appointment on my schedule.  Spending all day Wednesday with medical appointments, so tossing in Wednesday as well.

GrannyD, let's just have a cup of tea and badmouth that DIL of yours, toss her into the fire, watch the flames leap high .... then let's find something FUN to do and forget all about her - she's just not worth getting high blood pressure or ulcers over ....

Linda - That really sucks about the neuropathic pain.  I have that as well and ended up having to go to a pain specialist for relief.  He did put me on medication and so far, so good.  He has closed his office and my PCP is now managing the meds.  I had him increase the dose recently - cold weather reeks havoc on the pains.  Next time I see him, I will ask to reduce the dose.  I sure hope you get some relief soon.

Jo, thanks.  I have tried just about all the drugs available for the pain, they all gave me intolerable SEs and mostly did not work - just put me to sleep or made me stupid, made me dizzy, nauseated, constipated, cotton mouth, and just plain crazy lady.  Tried acupuncture, got some great relaxation but not pain relief. Using mindfulness-based meditation & breathing, helps me deal with it but doesn't take it away. Problem is, I have several types of neuropathic pain - first from the chemo, which affects fingers and deep muscles, then traumatic from surgery, affecting chest and arm.  The injection helped the arm pain, which then seemed to help the chest as well, and when both were settled down, the other stuff bothered me less also.  Maybe it was the steroid having local as well as systemic effect, which is fine by me!

OK, GrannyD, the hot cocoa does sound good! Maybe spike it with a bit of creme de menthe or kalua....

Tossing in deadlines for filing paperwork... geez, I can hardly figure out what is due when, and so paranoid I will miss filing for Flexible Spending Account reimbursements for 2012, and we definitely spent the max, so would like to get it back, just hope I don't miss the deadline. And trying to track down all the receipts in the stacks and stacks of bills and papers from this BC crap ....

Linda I so hear what you're saying with all this paper, getting ready to start income tax return here and going to have to learn what all I can use, and how, for all these expenses. Such a huge pile of )()^%(&$

Just joining you for some cocoa and a chat...looks yummy, Jo!
The paperwork is endless and same stuff over and over...as if BC isn't enough.
    Paper burns really well...toss!
    Taxes...toss!
Family members who don't get it...toss!
    Hugs,

I'm in for hot choc too, maybe with some butterscotch schnapps mmmmm!

Jo, that does look yummy, especially with the mini-marshmallows.

Throwing in the weatherman who seems to have gotten it wrong again.

First, it was a foot of snow (so I stayed home and burned a day of vacation).

Then, it was 8 inches (OK I still might have stayed home for that).

Now, it's looking more like 6 inches (which I would have driven through).

Four inches so far & still snowing.  I'm rooting for more snow to justify my decision. Tongue Out

I'm gonna come in closer to the bonfire today and sip that yummy hot cocoa with you all. I would throw in this blasted snow, but don't want to dampen our flames. I have to drive in for my first rads tx today and am determined though not excited about driving through this. So, instead I'll throw in these seemingly everlasting grey skies.....so ready for spring!

Thanks, Jo. It went well, I suppose, minus the mini meltdown I had. Not sure why that happened just then, in front of all the techs no less. I was feeling somewhat stressed about radiation and the drive in was a little dicey with our snow today. I've just been feeling pretty good 7 weeks post surgery with everything healed up nicely. Have been feeling close to normal. Going in for radiation today was another reminder that I had cancer. :-(

But they were all very kind about it and said that it happens. Anyway, 1/16 down...15 more to go. I think emotionally I'll be more solid from here on out and keeping my fingers crossed and holding good thoughts for easy sailing from a side effects stand point. Today I just visualized the radiation clearing out any clutter from my breast that didn't belong there. Now, if it could just do my closet....

Destina - Sounds like you have a short course of rads - good deal.  I had 30 treatments and after the halfway point, they just about did me in.  The fatigue was so bad.  Long ago I threw in my RO and all the techs.  I had a nightmare of an experience.  It's a long story and I won't bore you with the details.  For now, this is about you and how you are going to sail through and come out on the other side feeling great and moving forward in this journey.  Please keep us posted on your progress and ask any questions that you might have.

    Hi all,
Badger, how much snow fell?  Nobody can predict what will fall in my area...we're on the rain/snow line.  Wind is for sure.
Jo, I'll be looking for the fire next few days with icy weather.
Destina, I had a good experience with rads - had 27 tx I think.  Take care of yourself and let the emotions out...and keep focusing on the cancer leaving your body.  And rest when you can.
Hi Sassy, good to see you at the fire.

Badger - Hubby called off w a V Day too.  We got 8 - 10 inches. But when it was snowing, this is what it looked like at dusk and had snowed for 10 hrs then and snowed another 8 hrs after.  Inches aside, he was on midnights too so did not want him driving 1 1/2 - 2 hours one way in that stuff, probably would have been 3 - 4 hours in that.   Is not my pic but same way it looked.  My DD was out in this all day, night and now day and evening again delivering newspapers.  I want her to have a different job.  She makes real good money on the good days, but days like these, it is not worth it.  Then I think she could be in med school or over the road driving or in a dangerous job other than this one w fog and blizzards.  I hate seeing the little birds out in this stuff so I go out and feed them, sweep the ground and place food all over.  I came in after 1/2 hour w 3 inches of snow on me, hahaha not quite but seemed it.  Left Newfie out awhile, he loves snow. He came in in 20 minutes w 1/2 inch of icy snow on him.  NW Indiana by Lake Maxincuckee.  Lake Michigan is 45 minutes north as the crow flies.  Yes, let's do have butterscotch schnapps, never tried those.

    Watch out!

I'm throwing the waiter I had today at Olive Garden who wouldn't look or talk to me because I was enjoying eating lunch bald! I did complain to the manager and he gave me a nice sized gift card.

    AND...

A woman at K-mart that stopped dead in the aisle starring at me. Her jaw hit the floor. Then I followed her around the store.

Into the fire they go! Watch out for the flames!!!!

Veggy - woosh - big ball of flames!  LOL to following that rude lady around the store.

Essa, pretty pic!  Like by you, here it snowed & snowed & snowed all day long.  We get a morning newspaper delivered and I appreciate our carrier so much.  We make sure to shovel the walk, leave the porch light on, and give him a nice tip at Christmas.

Joan, we ended up with about eight inches by the time it was done Tues night, around midnight.  I could have gotten to work but per my co-workers the evening commute was miserable so glad I skipped it.

hi Destina, welcome to the magical fire.  Good luck with rads!

    L&H&P's to all

Veggy - Good for you.  What is wrong with some people?  How rude of them.

Everyone is talking about the big amounts of snow.  Perhaps I shouldn't mention that I had capris and flip flops on today.  LOL!

Badger, I drove home in snow/rain and high winds...but it's still warm so nothing on the ground.  We get more tomorrow night...maybe a few inches.
(((Veggy)))   LOL am picturing that woman in the fire hair first.  Seriously, it's hard to believe these reactions when so many people are open about treatment and hair loss.  But you made me smile with your stalking ways.Cool   Hey, I just realized, smileys are bald ...

Did I throw in Wednesday already?  I am tossing it in again.  I spent 11 hours at the multipspecialty clinic yesterday, including interventional pain clinic, lab, MO (who ran about 2 hours behind), and infusion room.  Came home exhausted.  Will catch up on reading and responding in a bit.  I LOVE the snow poto Bager! Veggy, thinking of you, and all of you here by the fire.

Damn straight Veggy. I hope they never have loved ones that need chemo. Burn baby.

Linda - Your clinic visit Wednesday is burning nicely. Sorry for the long day. Hope you can rest up today.

Jo - I could have joined the capris/flip flops on Sunday. It was 88, then a big fall for us to 50s. It was 27 out here yesterday morning.

Throwing into the fire yesterday. Spent all day caring for goats kidding. One tiny baby doe in house; bottle baby now. And yesterday was our 37th anniversay. Had nothing planned since DH was working until he had to take a personal day to help goaties. LOVE that man and don't deserve him. Creaking knees, back, wrists going in the fire. I have friends much older than me in the goat business.  How they do it is beyond me.

I need to warm up. I'll sit by the fire awhile. Thank goodness no "burn ban" here.

Happy anniversary, Mr & Ms Luvmygoats!

Veggy, I know you have had a rough time lately, but that avatar is really aweful! I hope you don't feel THAT bad! But it brought a little empathetic smile to my face - I think we all have those days when we feel like that. Maybe we should get masks like that and wear them when confronted with various waiters, clerks, other assorted uncaring persons ....

I am surviving today, actually feeling better than I had anticipated (knock on wood!!!). Pushing fluids and tylenol, finding beauty in the daffodils blooming all over the countryside.

Essa, I think I credited Badger with your snow photo - sorry about that - it is gorgeous! I remember some of my favorite days were when we had a home in VT, snowing fast & furious, then some gorgeous days of snowshoeing or cross country skiing in the beautiful wonderland. I now live south of the Mason/Dixon border and really miss the beauty of winter. Of course, I am enjoying the beauty of an early spring instead, just accepting WHAT IS for the most part today.

    Happy Anniversary, Luvmygoats!

Our 37th anniversary is coming up this summer, so now we know how to celebrate it - we'll go to our friends who have a few goats and spend the day with them. Since both nannies kidded recently we'll just have to kid around with them, not help them kid.
