Saw the plastic surgeon's PAC yesterday - looked at my scarring from surgery and asked point blank: "Did Dr. talk to you about revision?" Say what??????- "I see you don't have a nipple... Was Dr going to make you one? - I said we discussed it and decided it is not necessary. Then he replies; "Oh great, then he can take care of your 'dogears' in the office. It will take about an hour with local anesthetic." - Ok, I didn't see that coming..even though I had that question.. He also said the dogears won't get better at this point, they need to come off. It seems like they haven't billed me for any of my post-op visits. Starting to think that is included in the surgery. But I will be glad to have the extra 2 boobs under my arms gone...(DH calls me a quadra-boob LOL). Guess they lyposuction the extra swell under the arms then flatten out the pointy scar..
Having fun with the grandsons this weekend even though we couldn't get their online game working on 2 computers so they can't play together . They are taking turns - not as much fun that way, but oh well. When I come up to stay a week, I will bring my work computers and then all three of us can play together.

Good Morning Goddesses,
Jo, sorry to hear about having to have surgery. The SE's do seem to be never ending. I must admit that I'm glad to still be around for all the crappy SE's!! I just wish there weren't so many. I hope the insurance ends up covering it for you. I was supposed to have some kind of surgery on my eyes before my BC diagnosis. Something is detaching - I can't remember what it was. They haven't said anything since, and I don't think I'll bring it up!! I get freaked out with putting eye drops in my eyes, I can't imagine a surgery - how do they keep your eyes open???
Kracker, sad news about your GD 's dog. That stuff is always so hard. Happy birthday to your GGson! Hope you had fun playing rub-a-dub-dub. I don't think you're meant to have purple boots this year. Sorry they were so fugly. Those two boys are just adorable and look so mischievous. What fun they must be!! I bet they have you wrapped around their little fingers.
Lucy, if you ever come to the States, I will make you a yellow butter cake with chocolate frosting!! I'm so thrilled to hear your colonoscopy went well. You must be so relieved.
GMA, I only wear a bra when I leave the house. I also had some luck with the Danskin bra from Walmart. Since surgery, I find they are all pretty uncomfortable, but I can tolerate the Danskin one. Sometimes I just wear a double shirt when I go out. I hope you enjoy your GS's party. Kids always make things better!!
scvmom, Are you new to the Bonfire?? If so....WELCOME!! I don't recall ever seeing you here before.
Ducky, It is so good to see Grayson sitting up!! What a wonderful accomplishment!! What a dear, sweet girl.
OMG, Your story about your DD made me laugh so much!! So different from my DD. I took her for her colonoscopy and she would rather explode rather than pass gas in front of anyone (including me). She's so funny that way!! I'm happy she got good results!!
Lucy, Happy 4th birthday to your GD!! I hope you post pictures!!?? I love seeing everyone's pictures.
Hope you all had a restful, pain free weekend. I'm going through my old pictures to find one for the party. Boy we sure had BIG hair in the 90's. Love to all.

Pretty day here in So. Cal. It's quiet in here.
Haven't seen you around too much Poppy. Hope you're healing is going better.
Thinking of you Tomboy. Hope things are getting better with your bro.
I've got an evaluation tomorrow before I start pain management.
Think I'm going to ask for an MRI before I start in March.
The only scan I've had is a bone scan since this all started.
My older dog has a big lump on his leg. I've got to find a way to get him to the vet.
He is so neurotic. Last time we took him for his shots, he started crying and carrying on
before the vet even touched him. He will be 16 this year. I hate to put him through a check up.
My other dog could care less about going to the vet. He doesn't even feel his shots.Hi Lucy!!
Happy Tuesday to all!0 -
Slow - From what I have read on the internet, numbing drops are applied to the eye. The eye stays open and in some cases you are given a mild sedative to help you relax. I have an appt on March 3rd for the consultation. Will let you know more after that. I should also know when the surgery will be done.

Hmm..How weird.. Everyone has disappeared..?
Slow.. Hope that they can get a plan to help you control the pain..It must be so distressing living with continual pain.. and that they give you the MRI you want . You know, my biggest fear is having scans !! Or any medical tests for that matter.. Which is silly I know... Just wondering, do you have any vets near you that do home visits.? Maybe your dog might feel less stressed if the check up was on his own home turf..??

Slow...I have had numberous procedures done to my eyes......torn retina laser surgery, glaucom also laser surgery, cataracts both eyes 2 weeks apart.....and hav macular degeneration which is under control but no one knows for how long......
None of the procedures caused me any pain or distress......plus I also had eyelid surgery becaue of excess skin hanging over my eyes.....it was medically necessary and ws paid for by insurance.........
It is only natural to wonder...."my eyes" how is this all going to happen.....trust me.......it is not a big deal........you will be fine......I fear the dentist more........LOL..........

Having MRI this morning for my neck problems. I just love laying in a tube that sounds like I'm inside of a kettle drum. Good times! Back later!0 -
In your pocket Glennie!!!! I sometimes wish they would do an MRI on me - I think things are hiding in there. Haven't had one - even through all my BC and all - they keep telling me there is no need for it.

I had 1 when I was having a back problem......knew what it was, but my MO insisted.......would have felt better had they done one of my boobs.......to make sure that area was ok........I knew the back pain was from the broken vertebrae, and I was right.............

I had an MRI when I started thic crappy journey, hated it!

Jo,That's interesting. So the numbing drops keep the eye open?? I wondered how they did that for people that can't even put in eye drops. I would want to be knocked out for sure! Good luck on your consultation. I'm interested to hear how your consult goes.
Good grief Ducky. You've sure had a lot of things done to your eyes. You're a seasoned eyeball patient!!
I had a diagnoses of iritis when I was younger (18), before I was diagnosed with RA. The doctor kept asking me if I had juvenile RA. I was diagnosed a few months later with RA. My Mom didn't believe in doctors, so I never got checked out when I was younger. That is the only problem I've ever had with my eyes. I had a heck of a time with iritis for many years. Once I got on my RA meds, it kept the iritis under control, and I had very few problems over the past 20 years. Right around the time of my BC diagnosis, they found this macular pucker in my right eye. I cancelled the surgery - just too much to think about. Then I conveniently forgot about it. hahaha I didn't even remember what I had until I looked up my past visits yesterday, thanks to Ducky. I really am the queen of denial.
Lucy, my dog is SO neurotic. That's a good idea about the home visit - I will check into that! Somehow I don't think it will matter though but it's certainly worth a try.
The last time we had his shots, we decided to get them done at the park. Our vet was doing a clinic and we thought it would be less stressful for him. He loves the park and other dogs. They were doing shots on a raised platform in the middle of the park. My DH stayed in line with him and he (the dog) was having a grand ol' time. I was sitting down at the benches. Suddenly I hear this bloodcurdling scream - it sounded like one of the dogs was being tortured. People went running to see what was happening, including me. Guess who it was??? YEP - our dog!! He didn't even get up to the vet yet, and he was acting like someone was poking his eyes with sticks. They had to put a mask on him just to give him his shots. My husband was so embarrassed!! LOL Poor dog - he was so traumatized.
Glennie, we will all be in your pocket today!! I hope it all turns out well for you, and they figure out what's wrong with your neck.
GMA, I asked about an MRI when I was diagnosed. My BS said the MRI's show everything and they would have to investigate anything that showed up. Knowing how I felt about needles, she recommended I not have one. I thought that sounded reasonable. Later I read in the chart that I had refused an MRI?? I thought that was pretty funny when she talked me out of one. I guess maybe they have to put that in there to cover themselves. Or, maybe that's just the verbiage they use when they don't do a particular test. When I did the evaluation for pain management, I was told they may want to do an MRI before they start to rule out progression.
I find it odd that around the time of my BC diagnosis, I was feeling better than I have in years. My RA was doing great, I was exercising, and on minimal RA meds. After treatment and supposedly "cured", I have worse pain than I've ever had - it's so much more intense, and I'm losing range of motion on a daily basis. I was told my RA would progress after treatment - that's certainly been the case. I'm hopeful that PM will work. If not, I will try acupuncture next.
Off to my appointments. Hope you all have a good day!!
Tomboy and FK, you've both been WAY too quiet!! Please check in so we know you are both ok??!!! Maybe you're both off on FK's broom sneaking in some fun without us??? Off with Ducky's pilot??? Love to all!!

Slow......you can't be given anesthesia for anything eyes, cause most things done to your eyes require they be open..........With cararacts you have to have them open because they need to put a lense in them......glaucoma they need them open too...
If you have eyelid surgery they need to make sure they don't take too much skin off your upper lid to make sure you can close your eyes after the surgery is done.....
They also give you something to relax you.....trust me.....your talking to the biggest coward out there.....and if I can do it anyone can......I am horrible, and the biggest baby there is..........No heavy anesthesia......just enought so you don't...."give a shit".........LOL.....

I'd be perfectly happy with DGAS!!!
Back from my appointments. She ordered an MRI on my neck and hips.

We had an inspection of all the apts.never done that before but I was a wreck
Of course been cleaning for days and all they wanted to see was in case of fire or an ambulance had to take U away they could get in...
When I went for my glasses about 2 yrs.ago they said it looked like a little cataract but I never went back...the new meds im takin cause blurred vision so I think it's time...I'll wait till after jojo has her done to get all the details,,,,although Ducky made it sound like nuthin
I read once again every post but don't remember anything except the eyes and the MRI.I had one when I got the beast...they put headphones on me and I went to sleep..
Just wanted to remind everyone the party is Friday.....and....if U remember I asked everyone to put a pic..that would be sooo cool...and old one,or a new one,,,anything even Marilyn Monroe.lol.just something different.

Oh no Kracker! Did you hide all your CFM shoes during the inspection?? I can see where that would be stressful!!
Thanks for checking in. Now we've got to track down Tomboy.
I'm done with my appointment - time to get in Glennie's pocket!!
Ducky ALWAYS calms my nerves. She is the best!!

ducky - when you said you were given something to relax you before your cataract surgery what kind of something? Is it a pill? What? Not sure I could deal with an IV. I am petrified of those and certainly wouldn't be able to relax.

Glennie.. In your pocket...let us know how you get on. Xx
Slow.. How weird they wrote up you refused an MRI..Hmmm...they could lie about anything on their records... When is your MRI scheduled for? When I was diagnosed I had a full body CT scan, abdominal ultrasound, and a bone scan all on the same day.. I was pleased to get it over and done with in a hurry!! Your poor dog does sound like a nervous wreck .. a lot like me really!! 😃
FK.. Look on the bright side.. At least your apartment in lovely and clean now... I'm thinking about which photos to share at the party.. Ones where I'm sitting a long, long way away... And with VERY soft lighting :-) :-)
Tomboy.. Come and play.. We miss you!!

But I did buy this year 2 pairs of black, one brown and a beautiful pair of white.
They never even opened my closet..
WHERE IS TOMBOY???????

Ok, its early, I'm up and ready to answer questions.....
Jo, I can't remember if it was an IV.....doubt it was a pill......anything for twighlight sleep would be IV......whatever it is it workds.....your eyes have to be open.....and the worst part of the entire thing is when they have to dilate your eyes........mine do not dilate well.....it takes time ........I was one of the first ones in the damn place, and the last one taken......why because my eyes would not dilate to the extent that the Dr. 'needed them to do the operation...........but then it could be because they told me to "keep them closed", and I kept peeking......LOL
Here is the proble with waiting for cataract surgery.....some Dr.s will tell you "its not time", and the Dr. I finally went to said "there is no such thing as "not time"........after the surgery they will check your eyes right away with the new lense in........that was when they found out I had macular degeneration in the early stages..............you wait, and you have macular degeneration, they could find it when it is further gone and then your in big trouble........
They do one eye at a time.......the first one is done, and then 2 weeks ater they do the 2nd one.....wish I could have gotten it all done the same day.
Another thing...you will be required (if I remember right) to put drops in your yes before the surgery....this is important.....SLOW..........thought I can't do that......guess what.....I did fine.....you will too......then after surgery you have to do drops again.............
Do what your told, and you all will be fine.......like I said "big ass baby".....and I would not lie.....it was easy.........would rather do that then the dentist........don't wait.......remember.........its your eyes..............if anyone of you have any other questions feel free to PM me.......hugs..........GET IT DONE.......you won't believe the difference.......

ducky - Thanks for the info. I have no problem whatsoever putting drops in my eyes. That is a piece of cake. I used to wear contacts many years ago and I could put them in without a mirror. I have had my eyes dilated in the past and it works pretty fast - or it used to. Sounds like a piece of cake so far. I am the "big ass baby". The thought of an IV is freaking me out. Bad experiences in the past and can't get over them even though I know it hurts for a few seconds. Not going to stress over it until the time comes. I am having my left eye done - BC side, go figure. I doubt my right eye will be done right away. My eye doctor says it is pretty stable and doesn't think it needs to be done now.

Good luck Jo......truely it is not bad.....not worth the worrying.........really..........actually the only reason I had wished they would have done then both at the same time was...I had to pay for the surgical room co-pay twice.....could have been $300 instead because of the return for the 2nd eye it was $300. more.......

Hi everybody, I am sorry if i worried you, I was just ignoring my phone and computer and everything. Was playing at making jewellry, and helping my man finish up a job (used my muscles!) and have been trying to walk for an hour every day.. problems with my brother, i was trying to help sort out, its better, but not done yet. He is homeless at the age of 58, not pretty, and now he is forced to live in an expensive hotel, because his credit is trashed, no good place will take him. the money comes from a very ill and blind man that he has been living with and taking care of for almost 20 years. I am proud of him for that, but pi$$ed that he didn't look for a new apartment quickly enough, when the old one booted them out because of new owners, he had already abused his credit cards, so- when he applied for new appts, they saw that. now, it takes almost every penny they make just for rent. In really really bad parts of town. someone walked right in the room! Said they were looking for their girlfriend... So that has been on my mind very much, it was pretty close there for a little while, and he has refused to go to a shelter for housing help. it just sucks. So i have been terying to help, cause its been driving my mom crazy, who just turned 80, and who has just had both her eyes done for cataracts too! several weeks apart tho, one after christmas, and then one a couple weeks ago. She said the only thing she doesnt like is putting in the eye drops. I am concerned, because the first one went great, and she was amazed at how really well she could see after! But this second one, her eye has been hurting, so she is having to go back to the doc once a week. And she had cancelled a dentist appointment, and now they are saying she didnt cancel, and want to charge her 300! i will probably have to send that to her. so, my faily has been driving me up the wall. i think part of my moms problem, is she gave up her car, and now she is having to pay people for rides. I am going to check into para transit for her, I think she would qualify, she has arthritis in 75% of her spine, and has a disabled placard. I would think she would enjoy it, she used to love trains, and its similar! Safer than public transit, too. So i am thinking about those purple boots of yours fire, and think you musnt be deprived of them for too much longer.
I have seen blondie on other threads, why doesnt she come here anymore??? have we inadvertantly embarrased her??? If so, Blondie, I am sorry and wish you would come back, too.
Thinking of you today slow... hi lily, and duck

Kathy........don't let them get away with that crap.......get that friggin dentist number, call them and tell them "what for"......a lot of nerve asking an 80 year old for money for an appt........give me the friggin number, and Mom's name I'll call those greedy bastards.........horrible......I am fuming just reading it.
Family can upset us......take it from one who knows..........just hang in there and take care of yoursef.........we miss you when you don't stop by........hugs sweetie..........
