VR---------yes magical. My life was at the lowest point it could be when I met her, That's why I call her Saint PCP. Arimidex had caused severe fibromyalgia and joint pain. She fixed it---Fentanyel patch, oxy for breakthrough, Savella for the fibro, but it takes awhile for fibro pain to be brought under control. She addressed the immediate need for pain relief. Ativan for sleep. Valium for a special time for unique type pain/spasms of neck/trapezeius pain from old injuries and polio-----she covered it all. The Savella eventually did it's magic. I still take one ativan and melatonin for sleep. Used three patches in 3 months and oxy once may be twice. Had been previously weaned off patch and oxy for more than a year, Then went on aromasin. It did the same as Arimedex---starting in the 4 th month.--patch on , then increasing use of oxy. To the point I was going to dc aromasin(oncotype dx score 30) July 30th. Saint pcp cut dose of Norvasc in half for Bp. Within 24/36 hours, all symptoms started to improve. We knew there was a drug interaction. But Godsend that it changed with just cutting dose in half. Since July 30th I have had 3 flares wore a patch each time for a week. Flare subsided and didn't need to continue.
This is over long I know, but the key was medication with a plan and responding to changes. I'm not addicted to any of the drugs. Ativan and melatonin together are taking care of my insomnia.Sleep oh wonderful sleep.
I guess we caught my swimmers ear early b/c the eardrums were still intact. It just felt like someone sticking me in both ears with an icepick and the tubes felt swollen.. Quit swimming and it cleared. Now I just have to be careful how long I'm around Chlorine. Even in the shower LOL. Go figure the one activity that I dearly love swimming, now will have to be limited.
VR SO what's happening now are things improving b/c it must be at least a week since my last post----Progress?
How is DH since surgery?
Tells you how my brains been functioning last post was yesterday--------duh

Granny hope boob is okay? Did the EMU oil fix it? If it's fungal , I don't know anything about EMU oil, but skin fungal infections under the breasts can spread fast so see your doc, so you can get prescriptuion stuff versus OTC. Had them there before they are so uncomfortable. Sorry babe.
Chabba-------yes it's very nice to hear good things
Linda, I agree----I have loved nursing since childhood, might have been related to polio. In a do over I would choose something different Besides at the end of countless unpaid hours, my retirement monthly check is 93.25$. My twin sis who was a cop(Sargent) and retired 2 week before our 48th b-day is 40,000$ a year. I retire at 59, get <1200 a year. Thank God we had life insurance and mutual funds. Into the fire goes all those countless hours of unpaid time and my stupidity for letting it happen.

voracious. I was put on anti biotics for a sinus infction a week after surgery...my sister said i was whining but it was about the pain in my face, not my breast! take a probiotic too to help things out....and a netty pot!
0 -
Sandee... You are soooo sweet! I have to agree with you regarding the neti pots! My younger son has had recurrent sinus infections and the doctor recommended that he use one and he swears by it. In fact, he just had his first sinus infection since he began using the neti pot two years ago. The doctor was ready to do surgery back then, but since we realized that it isn't as successful surgery as other surgeries are AND that he would have to use the neti pot afterwards, if he had the surgery, he decided to try it first and it worked like a charm! (Just a note...Yesterday they issued a warning about Neti Pots.)
In my situation, I developed a severe sinus INFLAMMATION, not an INFECTION, due to the TOXINS from the FUNGAL ear infection! Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was given an antibiotic, only briefy, due to the ear perforations. When you have a fungal infection, the TWO worst things for it are antibiotics AND steriods...because they make the fungas flourish! Yikes again!! Sooooo....as the fungal ear infection was getting better, the sinuses were getting worse and there was nothing the doctor could prescribe for the sinuses, until the ear improved.... More yikes! When I was well enough for the steriods, he prescribed a traditional dose, but that did NOTHING. Then, on Thursday, he was confident enough that the fungal infection was gone that he then prescribed a powerful dose of steriods....and guess what???????????????
Today, VR is finally feeling better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT BONFIRE IS MAGICAL because I dumped my ear and sinuses in the fire last week and since then, I've been on the mend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who knew ears and sinuses could be soooo complicated!
Speaking of complicated...SAS-SCHATZI--- You seem to have your own complications! But isn't it nice to know there are some doctors who will continue to work with you and have the patience to help sort things out? Bless all of those doctors!!!! I'm telling you!
And SAS...thanks for asking about the DH. He's vertical now and active. He'll always have the underlying genetic metabolic muscular dystrophy that can, at times, dibilitate him, but like the rest of us, I always say, "You have to work around the devil." Thankfully, we know what his "devil" is, and have a team of doctors and dieticians that work with him so that he can have as much quality of life as possible. Regarding the heart procedure...well, the cardiologist is AMAZED at how well he is doing. You see, SAS, what is so "complicated" about his illness is that when he is "well," well, you'd never know he had this potentially catastrophic illness. When he is feeling well, he feels terrific. He also swims and has a body like Michael Phelps...Well, maybe not Michael Phelps...but you get the idea...long and lean... So when people see him or have the pleasure of watching him swim or coach swimming, they can't believe he is disabled. But they don't see him when he is weak or when he has episodes of rhabdomylosis. Scary.
So, for now, dear sisters...sorry for all of the prattling...Life is good today. I look forward to coming down to Jo's Bonfire...because, after I toss something in and then leave, I know there's something magical in the air on my way back home that makes me look forward to the future.....

I want to throw in the nerve damage from radiation. For 6 months it was under control with the help of amitriptyline but is now seems with the cooler weather it is acting up something fierce and keeping me awake at night. I really want to throw in the Tamoxifen - I feel like I am 86 not 56. The joints hurt and when I stand up, it takes me several steps to straighten up. Somedays I feel like I should have a cane to help me walk. Why can't this be a bit easier? Sorry for the rant but I know you ladies would understand.

Ok, Granny, can I throw in my "black and blue ass".....................went to Longwood Gardens the other night, got so pissed off with all the clothes I had on since its all outside.......................................and tried to put my coat on when I got out of the car......................I threw such a hissy fit cause I couldn't find the sleeve, I spun around, tripped over my grandson, and fell on my ass...............................ass was the only thing I hurt.........................had too many clothes on to hurt anything else..................................they said it might be cold............wore........a tee shirt, a turtle neck, a hooded sweat shirt..........coat with a liner, ear muffs, gloves, and a scarf....................thus when I fell I almost bounced back up.
My youngest daughter turned back and saw me on the ground, and yelled to her sister standing next to her "CHRIST, WE JUST GOT HERE, AND SHE FELL ALREADY................her husband couldn't control himself laughing, and my grandson tried to pick me up, but I was laughing so hard, I could not move................It cost me $15.00 to walk for close to 3 miles to see a bunch of friggin trees with lights on them........................guest I didn't see the festivity in it all.
Well now, I have dessert plate size bruise on my "ass", and will have to sit on the left cheek till it goes away.....................So all the trees, and Longwood Gardens, will keep the fire burning for a long, long time...................................Heeve Hoooooo, in they goooooo.....Would toss in my "fat ass", but since I need that for other functional purposes, I hesitate to do that.......................Gonna go find the Vodka.......

Ducky, you gave me a chuckle with your very explicit description of the entire scene. I AM sorry about the black & blue.... but just think, it will change to a rainbow of colors before you are done, with some brown, green, & yellow....
Jo, some days are just difficult. The nerve damage is what I was most concerned about, told my docs about, they blew me off as if it was irrelevant. I hate them for that, and into the fire go all their recommendations that have caused me pain and loss of my qualtity of life for the last year and a half, with no hope in sight. I see my MO in a couple of hours, and am trying to figure out a way to talk with her in a civilized manner without yelling at her or breaking into tears for the entire time. So, into the fire go the tears!!! And maybe some day I will toss in the anger, but not ready to let go of it quite yet.... but getting there a little more each day because I HAVE had some very enjoyable moments of life with loved ones and I often forget to be thankful for THAT!
In any case, I think something stronger than wine may be in the offing tonight.

Linda - If you suspect you have nerve damage then an appt with a pain management specialist would be in order. I saw one twice and am thinking about going again after the holidays. I resisted at first when my BS wanted to send me but in the end I was glad I went.

I want to throw in all my joint pain mostly likely from taking Tamoxifen. I am so tired of feeling 96 instead of 56.
veggy - throw in whatever makes you feel better - that is why I started this thread.

voraciousreader - I do have arthritis, nerve damage from rads and now the damn joint pain from Tamoxifen. By no means do I let it slow me down too much. It is more frustrating than anything else.
Hell, Granny, I will just throw myself in and that will cover all the body parts - LOL!
0 -

Okay....so the New Year has begun! My ear and my sinuses go back into the fire!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I'm throwing in my vagina too! No one's thown that in before now, have they? I am off to the gyno today because of all the steriods and antibiotics that I'm now on to clear up the sinus problem, gave me...well... you all know what..... down there! Or could I be possibly getting new polyps down there again, too? If I've got polyps, they're going into the fire too! Should have thrown the other ones in that they took out back in August! Yikes!
Tomorrow I'm scheduled to visit the allergist to understand why I got so sick from that lousy fungal ear infection. Six weeks and counting since I got sick...and I'm still taking meds...but who's counting??!!!
Grannydukes...I was on our stomping grounds yesterday! Headed over to Brighton Beach and Coney Island! My younger son had 6 friends from Texas staying with us since Thursday. One of the young men is Russian and all he wanted to do was head over to Little Odessa. Took them on the boardwalk too, and we headed over to Nathan's. What an afternoon! We all had a ball! They loved visiting Brooklyn! Did I tell you how much they love Brooklyn pizza too? The weather was spectacular and being on 60 mg of Prednisone wasn't bad either....... The Brooklyn ocean air was GREAT for my sinuses!
Sisters! I wish us all a GLORIOUS New Year! Hang in there! And let's do an even better job this year at keeping that fire going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
