Ducky... I agree! It's not that bad! I do mine in my doctor's office with the same audience every time! I have a wonderful tech, the doctor's wife, an RN, and often the doctor on hand! You should see the three of them... Drooling at the screen! I am still waiting to have one that bores them to tears.....
Another thing that I'd like to mention is that OB/gyn's should have training in ultrasounds. I am surprised that some of my friends' doctors send them to radiologists. I know the recommendation was made almost two decades ago that OB/gyn's have training. I am very happy that mine is done in my OB/gyn's office and there is NEVER a delay in going over the results.0 -
Ducky - I also agree with you on the trans US. It isn't bad at all and I like the idea of getting instant results. Heck, you can see everything on the darn screen.
I have my annual pap tomorrow afternoon and am going to insist on having one again this year. Last year's revealed a sizeable fibroid tumor that needed biopsied and a very thick uterus and ended up having a D&C at the same time. Curious to see what is going on down there this year.

I have a great story on trans US. I suffered from ovarian cysts all my life so have had many of these tests. On one occassion I had a tech say to me, "OMG, you have two uteruses!" WTF.......I looked at her and said there must be a problem because I have never been told that before. She left and returned with another wand and told me that there was a problem with the equipment. OK, I return in 6 weeks for FU and this time I'm asked if I had still had my uterus? Again, WTF........I never went back there for US and switched to using the hospital for this test.

Kingjr...Sounds like the "faulty equipment" wasn't just the wand.....but was one of the techician's body parts instead....like his or her brain.......
So...today, into the bonfire goes "faulty equipment"....whatever that may be...

thanks voraciousre......let's also throw in that technician too.......one mistake ok, let it slide, but two.......

Into the fire with all cancer again and again. Until it does not make anyone sick anymore.
I just heard today that my neighbor from my very first home died this week. She had hospice [so probably cancer]. I will find out tomorrow...Patricia was my very first friend at my new home in 1972; and I remember cutting through the back yards to visit with the kids or share freshly baked goods... I'll never forget her kindness.About the US and Gyn - some docs prefer to have the radiologists read because they see more of them and are more experienced. That doesn't mean the gyn doesn't read and interpret as well. Two opinions could be a good thing.
Into the fire with spending precious summer days in doctors' offices and labs. Bring back the sanity, please!
PS - King - my oldest daughter has two uteri and requires two pap tests. This was not discovered until she was pregnant with first child - at 35 yrs.0 -
The place where I go, you get 1 Radiologist to read your picture..........then a 2nd one reads it, and if they agree on everything the Dr. looks at it with them.............if all of them do not agree with the findings, then another Radiologist is brought in to look at them...............finally they do a Computer Assisted Detection to further access the picture......................all great...........but then they also say.............a small number of cancers are not found with a mammogram......................so do a self breast exam...........................well my thought about that is............................bullshit.........even the BS, could not feel mine, and he knew right where it was by looking at the US report which was the final test.
So in my opinion (which in the real scheme of things doesn't matter), until the insurance companies make the absolute "best test" out there, (and we know they are out there) available to all women, or at least the BC women, tumors will still go undetected............but that isn't going to happen because "insurance" won't pay for the expense of the test............although once the equipment is paid for, the hospital could certainly drop the price of the "more thorough tests", but they won't.
So ladies we're in a Catch 22................................bet if it was reversed, and BC was a disease of "men", you would see changes in the way things are done...................................oh well, got that off my chest..........

Insurance companies go into the fire today!

hi everyone!!!!---back on boards with a new computer. there will definitely be a learning curve. had a bad virus. Now have a refurbished HP. I believe laptop. Anyways it's on my lap, i'm sitting in bed , head & legs up , with bed head/foot vibrating. I could get to like this. Will at least avoid swollen ankles.
having trouble making cursor go where I want it too. Hit something and the background is black.
I did catch up , but have aLREADY FORGOTTEN. It's small. 13 inch screen, but I like that. I was trying to make type a bit bigger and that's when backgroung went black Could be good with my vision.
it will let me use my fingerprint for sign in--is that a thing I should do?
So many questions for this rookie?
Just glad to be back missed you all, I did read of some strange things and that many techs are going in the fire.
Okay--let'em burn.

Hi sas,
Here are a few things I probably think I know...if it's on your lap, it's probably a laptop. Are you using the touch pad or a mouse?
The touch pad takes some getting used to. Try not to let more than one finger touch the pad. The cursor won't behave. If you lose the cursor, try hitting the key with the windows symbol - somtimes it brings it back. Do you mean the background was black and all the icons and text were still visible? sometimes a right click will change things but it's not that easy.
Fingerprint is cool - I had it on my last laptop but did not use it. Try it!
My laptop is 3 lbs. and a 13" screen. Sometimes when I use my email, the ads at the top take up half the screen. But I love the portability.
Have fun!

Joan, I tried to wiegh it--wouldn't register---but very light. Using touch pad, yes it can be frustrating , but have worked through some problems. Not sure how I made the background black and the print white, but then I hit something else and it reversed, but have lost color mostly. on tool bars. But it may have corrected itself .Adoring the fact I can sit wherever, Vibrating bed the best. Doesn't bother computer at all. Haven't looked at email yet----rarely used > I will PM you if Iget stuck THANKS-------keyboard feels like silk!!!

sas - night owl here on laptop...
You can get the weight if you put the model number in google bar. Have fun with your new toy.
How is the weather there? I just saw the tropical storm is moving across the northern part of the state overnight.
Flooding? Be careful!
Joan0 -
Joan---weather>>alternatley wet then dry>>rain bands>>no flooding in our area, great "surface water Management" dept. that identifies and corrects problem areas. Not true of all counties in Florida. Thats why knowing county history is important before buying in Florida. Volusia county seems to be in the news all the time b/c of flooding. Includes Daytona area.......Whats nice about the interruption during the rainbands, the wind is usuaLLY HIGH AND IT DRYS THINGS OUT. But watching the weather channel close. Thanks for thoughts and concern and HELP.
Do know that this computer was 1800 when new in 2007. Of course it hS MOSTLY NEW INNARDS>>>need to play to see what is left over. bought it off the local shop owned by geek. Has good reputation in town. I liked the idea of being able to spend my money locally b/c of economy. and accessibility for help.

interesting about the weather and flood conditions...FL gets a lot of dramatic weather for sure!
When I bought my little Sony, it was even more than that....and it did not last beyond 2 years. motherboard went....$800 to repair so I bought my Toshiba Portege for less than that and no problems - 2 years old this week. And I am very hard on stuff. What a great idea to buy refurbished at a good price.
Beautiful day here today...my first at the beach.
Good night, all!0 -
Hugs and prayers
(((Veggy))))For you....

Veggy, sweetie you are in so many hearts. we care deeply about you. The tough thing for all of us , is questioning our decisions. You put much thought and time into your decision. The next thing that is human is second guessing our decisions. The best advice is too push those thoughts away. Repeat to yourself----"I made this decision thoughtfully and with care>>with all the needed info I needed at the time." Your pockets are so full.

Nicely said, sas...I'm in.

Sas - I couldn't of said it better myself. (((VEGGIE)))

We are on the same journey, we just skip off on our own little paths along the way, some getting there sooner than others. Just like Sassy said, we give great consideration to each decision on taking a path, great thought, so we won't need to say, I should have later on. Should is not a word we ever need in life, once we learn to live without it, we are always better off on the journey, more careful, more peaceful. I am still learning peace.
Onto the fire, PET CT scan readers that do not give enough info. See Life Extension magazine July for their PET CT scan article to see what I am missing, enough info. eh. Biopsy tomorrow noon, two questionable sites, one that makes it go to stage IV, one that is still lymph nodes but a II since it is same side, just more nodes w cancer after 8 months, go figure, but the breasts are all clear, all the fibroids and masses gone to dust so to speak, from all I have chosen to do so far on this path of mine.... just the nodes now.

Ducky, I take Letrazole - never had the Femara brand. Different labs have different chemistry, so there may be a few choices. There are some things I don't like, but not so bad for me.
Enjoy your much-needed trip to the shore.0 -
Well sisters... Just came off of a rough week.. Gotta celebrate now! Can we have some spectacular fireworks ahead of the Fourth of July???!!!! What am I celebrating??? The DH survived major unexpected life saving heart surgery. Gonna spare everyone the details of the high drama and believe me the drama was so high that it's nothing short of a miracle that he is alive and will recover. I think I can now say that guardian angels do exist and one was working very hard last week!
Party!!!! Now where are those cabana boys and who wants to join me in a game of beer pong!!???0 -
