HEAR HEAR Michelle.  I have been busy and just jumped on the computer, noticed the troll has been removed. We don't need that crap, people preaching to us about food and what is in it. WTH!

I have the stuffing baking in the oven, I don't cook it in the bird any more.  Along with the corn bread and regular stuffing with celery, onions and garlic, I put a lot of herbs and 2 granny smith apples a handful of dried cranberries and raisins.  Smells good.

Now to clean the cranberries and make that relish that is on the side of the Ocean Spray bag, LOL.

This was my Mom's fav holiday. :o

My DH will pick up my DD at the airport tomorrow afternoon then she is taking off with friends :o(

I thought I would get a little help with the preparations.  Oh well, I will be glad to see her.  She is making the cranberry relish also for her fiances party he is having at the office.

Deb - hope your DD is able to land OK.  The weather tomorrow is supposed to be dreadful.  Hopefully she won't encounter any delays.  It's tough when we have to share our kids with their friends Undecided  My DH and I were always the ones flying in to visit family and there was never enough time to spend with any one of them.  And we frequently passed on visiting with our friends because there just wasn't enough time.  It's hard...

Michelle- Yes, we are having really high winds, im surpised my power is on right now, i have set my clocks about 15 times today, some of the roads in and out of here are completely closed. Are you suppose to get bad weather tomorrow?

Deb- Happy for you that you get to spend your TG with your DD.

Debbie - yes, it's supposed to rain...a lot.  And some places, more to the north, may get a dumping of snow.  And then it will clear and warm up with temps heading to 60 by Saturday.  It's been a crazy November!  I hope your power stays on overnight.

Debbie, let us know how that sandwich was. I share my birthday with Elvis and love all things Elvis!

Hope your DD makes it in okay Deborye. My DS and his girlfriend (whom I have never met) are supposed to land at ten tonight. I hope there are no problems. They are coming from Minnesota, don't know what the weather is like there. Haven't seen DS since July, can't wait to see him.

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I have been cooking all morning...pork pies, mashed potatoes, squash, cranberry sauce.  Now I think I can get out of my pj's and shower...lol!  And we are going to deliver the food to my son's house so I don't have to worry about fridge space.  Right now it's outside on the back steps...it's cold enough.

Carrie - enjoy the house full of kids!

I hope everyone has a wonderful, bountiful Thanksgiving!

Michelle- You are way ahead of me, i still have a lot to put together but since i dont have company tomorrow im not in any rush DH is going into work for a bit tomorrow, he said since he is making everyone work a few hours tomorrow its only right he shows up too.

Carrie- I hope you dont get any flooding near your house, wild crazy weather here lately, we just had a wild ride for the last couple of days, i think they clocked some of the gusts to 97, they have had flooding, heavy winds, lightning and thunder, surf has been 30 ft, i could hear the waves crashing all night, and trees down, the great thing is now it is calm, rainy but calm. Love it!  Hope you stay safe!

Kay- Im eating the sandwich as we speak, its pretty good, i wouldnt make it very often as michelle said its probably what killed him LOL!  Wow, what a great legend to share your BD with, i love him too!

Hope everyone has a safe and Happy Thanksgiving, xoxox

I have a mud room that is not heated and the pies and beer and wine and cider and what every else I can't fit into the fridge goes out there.

DD is home, no sooner did she get here she was back out and won't be back until tomorrow morning about 10:00, I told her her job will be setting the table and making sure all the dishes and glasses and silverware and napkins and bowls for condiments are out on the table. LOL

She came from Bermuda and there were no delays, it was raining pretty heavy here, I thought for sure she would be delayed.

Debbie- Holy smokes!  I can't believe that sandwich- do you like it?  You must as it sounds as though you've had it before :)

Carrie, Deb and Kay I am so glad that all of your children are making it home for Thanksgiving.  It honestly warms my heart.

Michelle- That was my plan for the morning, good job on getting it all done!  I had forgotten my oldest had a follow up to make sure his pneumonia was gone so I've been cooking this afternoon.  Stuffing has been cooking for almost two hours now, pie is in the oven and the squash is going on the stove.  No idea about dinner, I am thinking pizza?  lol!

This thread helps me stay focused about so much, yesterday I went and got new Christmas lights, tree skirt and a couple of decorations so I am not as far behind.  Got to love State Farm Ins.  I scanned the receipts to him when I had gotten home and he cut a check to me right away for what I had spent.  Love them!

I hope everyone here has a wonderful Thanksgiving.  I am very thankful to have found all of you.  Everyday you make me smile and support me in anyway you can.  And....you help me figure out life's daily challenges :)

    Thank you!

When my lazy DH wakes up from his nap, I am going to put him to work helping me with the leaf of the table and the extra long and heavy folding table to put up in the kitchen.

This is why I hate baking.

Pie is in the oven, stuffing on the stove, squash cooking too....everything is good.  I have my timer set, yup, all good.  Boys have a blow out on the second floor.  I go up and diffuse the situation, make them clean up the huge mess they have made, come downstairs, stir the stuffing, stir the squash and clean the kitchen.  Mash the squash mix in the butter etc, clean that up.  Stir the stuffing.....hmmmm am I forgetting something?  Yes. The pie. The timer is on 0- I never heard it go off, I must have been upstairs so I have no idea how long I over cooked it for.  It looks ok- a little brown but not burnt but I know it had to be in there at least 20 minutes extra.  I used all the apples so I won't try to make a second pie.  At least my SIL is bringing a second dessert.  Seriously- I HATE to bake!

I don't mind baking as long as I am not rushed.  I burnt my fingers with hot tap water and there is no way to regulate the temp.  Oh well, as long as I don't chop a finger off, LOL.  Dh woke up and took his guitar in the other room cause it's in the way of the folding table.

Laurie - LOL!!!  Kids can manage to derail most anything!  I am sure your pie will be just fine, especially if it's not burned.  I like my crust to be a little brown, so your pie is right up my alley!  I hope you are relaxing with a glass of wine now that the boys are nestled in bed.

Deb - your veggie dish sounds very yummy.  I might have to try it - minus the cauliflower as DH won't touch it.  Oh, now that I look at it, he won't eat turnip or brussel sprouts either.  LOL, I guess I won't be making it any time soon!

We delivered all the prepared food to my son's house tonight, then we went out for dinner.  I wasn't too hungry so I had a bowl of French onion soup and a dinner salad.  It's really cold out tonight and the soup was delicious.  Plus we had a table in front of the fireplace so it was very cozy.

I hope everyone has a fantastic Thanksgiving Day filled with family, friends, fun, food and ... football!  Yeah, we'll be watching football, I was already warned that there are three games tomorrow.  And the one concession will be that they will MUTE the tv during dinner.  It will be fun, no matter what.  We are spending time with our kids and my mom, and that is what's important.  We'll have a bit of a repeat on Friday when we head to my daughter's house for leftovers and a party.  I hear karaoke is in the plans.

Sweet Potato Casserole:  Cook and mash the sweet potatoes (or buy canned and mash them) add eggs, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg to taste.  If too thick, add a little milk or cream.  Mix well and put in a baking dish.  Top with butter, brown sugar and chopped pecans.  Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes, or longer if you make a large batch.  About ten minutes before they are finished cooking, top with minature marshmallows and more chopped pecans, and let the marshmallows brown.  Yummy!

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Deb- Oh that turkey is too pretty to eat, is that your dinner for tomorrow LOL!?

Laurie- It was the first time for the sandwcih, just saw the recipe last night. I liked it but so filling and i will make again but probably not for awhile, bet your kds will love it? Your so sweet, you all have helped me so much too. Dont know what i would do with out you all on this thread, i love you all!

    (((((((((((((((Group hug)))))))))))))))))))))

Michelle- Glad that you got all your stuff done. sounds like we have all been busy today! Kareoke!! I love kareaoke, i have to have about 3 drinks in me first so i think i sound good LOL!

Kaara- Sounds similar to mine. I microwave my yams ( since they are hard to cut and peel much easier this way), and then use I can of sweet potatoes,  mash and cook on stove with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, a little pumpkin pie spice, vanilla, a little butter, and half a bag of marshmellows melt and cook then turn out into a casserole dish, heat when ready to eat then top with marshellows roasted under the broiler.

Got my dressing, sweet potatoes, green bean bundles, orange pudding for fruit salad, whipped cream, fudge pie. roasted garlic about 5 heads, turkey prepped all done. All i have to do is cook turkey tomorrow and make the mashed potatoes and gravy, other than cook what i already prepped it should be pretty easy.

I was just looking at Deb's Pie on FB and it is beautiful! It made me remember when I wanted to make a raggedy-ann cake for my DD when she was 7yrs old, I worked so hard on it and wanted to make it special. It ended up looking like a frog! It was so ugly everyone laughed, but it did taste good LOL!

I bought these plastic pie cutters, I guess that is what they are called and they make decorations on the dough.  I bought them at Zebs country store in North Conway, NH. That is what made the design out of for the Apple Pie,  There is a Apple Orchard in town here and the owner is an old German lady, I asked her what apples make the best Apple Pie and she filled a bag of all sorts of different apples.  I will let you know how it tastes tomorrow.  I have 8 ppl coming over.  My DH will pick up my Dad and he will come over for a sample of all the fixings and dessert.  I pray that his stay will be without incident.  He is very incontinent, need I say more.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!  I am so thankful to have found this site and all of you!  Breast cancer definitely turned my life upside down and yet I feel very blessed to have such great friends, and even more so to have found Joyce and her DH through this site.  Love you too, Joyce!

Deb - your apple pie crust is a work of art!  I had no idea they had templates, what a fun idea!  I have heard that using several different kinds of apples makes for a good pie.  I bet yours will be delicious!  And what a great turkey picture.  In MO, we saw wild turkeys and deer almost every single day, especially this time of year when dawn and dusk were during the commuting hours.  They were no more than five minutes from our house.   And I hope things go well for you and your Dad - I'm sure he'll enjoy a home-cooked meal!

Debbie - sounds like you'll have an easy day today, now that all that work is done!  Enjoy!!!

Laurie - I'll bet that apple pie will be yummy - don't worry about it!

    Enjoy the day!!!
