Awards show was great...we missed it last year flying home from skiing in Co.  I like Billy Crystal...he's such a dynamic host.  Why do they try to improve.  As much as I loved Meryl Streep in The Iron Lady...she was awesome...the girl that played the lead role in "The Girl With The Dragon Tatto" absolutely nailed her role.  She made the book virtually come alive on screen.  It was a tough year for competing in the best actress category.

I didn't see "Moneyball" but I would really like to see Brad Pitt finally win an oscar...he's been up so many times.  At least George won the Golden Globe for his performance.  And what was up with Angelina and showing off her slit dress?  She was beautiful but I don't think she needed to exaggerate the fact that her dress had a slit...oh well...that's Hollywood.  All the dresses were beautiful!

Those blender soups sound so good, I was never really a soup person but have been trying because my husband loves the stuff.

We did steaks on the grill.  Tried a new healthy rice blend with all the super grains that are supposed to be good for you, my DH did not like it at all.....it had a different taste but I didnt think it was bad.

Larie that ravioli recipe sounds good and easy.

Michelle. I agree a road trip is always fun, we dont go too far cause my DH works 24/7.  We used to travel all the time, but with the economy we have laid off a lot of our employees and my husband takes on a lot of the work himself.  I have a girlfriend from Boston, may have to see if she wants to do a roadtrip.

Carrie - when my kids were young, we used to meet my ex-husband halfway from Pulaski, NY, at the Friendly's in Lee, MA, right off the turnpike. It's 2 1/2 hours from here. Maybe we could find a halfway spot in the same area (a little more upscale than Friendly's...lol) and meet for lunch. I'd be up for that and would be able to make that drive, no problem.

Kay - glad you enjoyed the jambalaya, sorry I missed your comment. This one will be buried by the time you're back on the 'net! I don't think I could give up my internet access, we use it for everything from recipes to shopping, to Facetime on my DH's iPad to talk to the grandkids to paying all our bills. I am wondering how we lived without it!!!

Joyce - welcome home! Sorry you couldn't sleep last night, I hate it when that happens. Now I just take a sleeping pill when all else fails.

Debbie - we are going to Ft. Lauderdale next Sunday for 9 days, and will see Joyce and her DH while we are there. Paris is coming at the end of May. Lucky me!!!

Bedo - aka Pat - nice to finally "meet" you!

OK girls, I'm going to throw a date out for Pickety Place, then we can figure out how it works and whether or not we need to make an adjustment...how about Saturday, March 24th?  Joyce and I will both be back from Florida.

    Is Saturday better than Sunday?

    My preliminary headcount would be

    Me

    JoyceK

    Laurie08

    Hauntie (Lynda)

    Bedo

    Lacey (Pat)

    Deborye (Deb)

Ok, if I forgot anyone just slap me silly and say "me too!"  The more, the merrier!  Deb - there was someone that was part of the group that went to the Glenview, I'm sorry I don't remember her name.

I think we might have to make a stop at Parker's Maple Barn and get a supply of this season's maple syrup as production should be in full steam.  And it's located in the very same area.

OK, I need to get off my butt and do some laundry, take a shower, and generally get on with my day!

Laurie - hope you're feeling much better today!

OK Michelle, watch out!  I'm gonna have to slap you!

    Lacey=Pat (Because that's her dog's name.)

Bedo (me) = Sally because when I was diagnosed, I definitely did not feel like a cheerful good "Do-bee"  so I decided I was a "Bedo" the opposite.  I obviously was not thinking because all this time I pictured it pronounced Bee Dough until just now, so maybe I am Bee D'oh!

Kaara- I agree, what was up with that? I didnt know if she was really trying to be sexy or funny! LOL!

Carrie- And here i thought healthy was suppose to taste good LOL! When i buy my bread i usually only buy the 3 grain, never did like the taste of the 7 or 9 grain bread too much stuff going on, maybe thats the same with the rice.

Michelle- Yes, Lucky you I would love to go to paris some day! Hey, since you are willing to meet Carrie halfway, hows about you all meeting me halfway LOL! I know, I know!!

Sally-Haha! Thats how i thought it BEE-Dough! LOL! Thought it was cute though!

Getting ready to go to the ER with DH he has had dizziness going on for over 2 months now, its constant, not like menieres or vertigo, this is 24/7 with nausea, bloody noses hearing loss, I have been fighting with his insurance to approve the MRI for 3 weeks now, even though the DR. said it was a high priority (finally was approved), his bp has been high, they are Thinking (not for sure) that he could of had some mini strokes, they also ruled out a inner ear infection. So worried about him, please keep him in your thoughts and prayers please.

Debbie- I hope things go well at the ER with your DH.  I'll send all of my positive thoughts and prayers your way.  I hope we get some good news from you later.  I hope he hasn't been having mini strokes and find something simple that will give him relief right away.  So scary.

Sally aka Bedo- add me to the Be Dough group:)

    Meatloaf is for dinner.

    Again- Debbie- thinking of you-

Sorry to miss the get-together in NH.  Sounds like much fun.

DH cooked red beans with andouie sausage today.  We'll have red beans over brown rice and a garden salad for dinner.

Debbie, Thinking about you and hoping that you both find some answers very soon. Positive energy coming your way. I hope you have someone to be waiting with while DH is being tested. Good luck!

SALLY - Bedo:  Guess I'm getting old.  I tripped right to 'doobe' (no pun intended), and not doo-be,doo-be, do.  Oops. I'l have no problem remembering Sally since I don't know any others. Jan

    Debbie,

Just read you were taking your DH to the emergency. Prayers for answers and that whatever is going on will be taken care of very soon. I am sorry that he has had to wait so long. That's crazy!

Tonight was an easy dinner. I bought the prepared seasoning packs for rosemary chicken. You just add olive oil and use bone in chicken thighs and red potatoes that have been quartered into bite size. Bake about 35 mins. My DD really liked it. DH is still at work, but I know he'll enjoy it, too.Smile

That's funny, in high school my friends used to call me debo. pronounced deeboe.

I have a hair appnt. March 24th but I can call and make it on a week day after work.  We also can celebrate my 5 year cancerversary.  That would be great.

    Debbie,

So frustrating when something hangs on like that and even more so when you have to deal with insurance to get the testing that is needed! My prayers that the testing gets to the bottom of what is going on and that it is easily treatable! Thinking of you and your DH! Prayers going up for you both

Thanks to each and everyone of you for the positive thoughts and prayers!! I really appreciate it alot! Still dont know much at this point, but the xray tech said he didnt see anything jump out at him like a baseball size tumor or anything, but said there was a dark spot that he didnt think there was anything to worry about but that the radiologist will have to look at the scans and say for sure. So, sounds like everything might be ok. We will see,,,

Oh sally i think i called you pat but edited it to correct. but if you are like me you will go by anything LOL!

Deb- they called me debso, One time i wet the bed when i was younger, and my brother started calling me wetso debso LOLOL!! the name kind of stuck but told DB he better drop the wetso part or i would kill him haha!- Congrats on your 5 years!

Lexi- Your rosemary chx sounds wonderful.

    Minustwo- LOL!

OK, is there anyone for whom March 24th doesn't work?  To confirm, please PM me in the next few days.  I'll make the reservation this Saturday.  Looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones!

Debbie - on the one hand, it's good to hear there was nothing obviously going on with your DH.  On the other hand, it leaves the mystery unsolved.  I hope he's feeling better soon.

Debbie- I too am glad there was nothing that jumped out as really bad with the tests, I hope they figure it out quickly and it is nothing serious.

Michelle- Count me in for the 24th!

Feeling a little better today, each day I seem to be improving and I am grateful that I managed not to pass it on to the boys.

Hope everyone is having  a great day.  It's nice that the sun is shining- since they are saying we will be getting some snow.

Laurie:  Glad you're feeling better...if you had the same thing I had last week, I feel your pain!  For a couple of days I thought I had to get better to die!  Apparently it isn't too contagious because my boyfriend didn't get it either.

Kaara- thank you and I am glad you are feeling better too!

Tonight I am making salsa chicken, nice and easy and haven't had it in quite awhile.  I used to make it too much and took a break from it.  I am looking forward to it though.  Tomorrow will be grocery shopping and getting errands done with plans to hunker down for Thursday with the snow coming.  Although I will believe it when I see it.  So far every storm they say we will get we don't.  So, I won't tell the boys to expect it so they don't get disappointed.  Thursday will be a cooking and cleaning day.  I've got to try to come up with my meal ideas!

We're going to have steakburgers on whole wheat buns with peppers, onions and mushrooms and crispy crowns (like tater tots).  Yup, it's a "fast food" lover's delight tonight!  No chocolate shakes, though.  Gotta draw the line somewhere.   DH has a routine doctor appointment at 5:00 so we're keeping it simple as I don't know what time he'll be home.

Michelle- Yummm that sounds good!  What kind of steak do you use for the steak burgers?

  • LuvRVing
    LuvRVing Member Posts: 2,409
Laurie - it's 93 - 97% lean angus beef, I'm guessing ground round would be the only thing that lean.  They were really yummy, especially with the caramelized peppers, onions and mushrooms.  I bought the burgers at McKinnon's Market, the same place where we got the not so good rib roast.  I like that they do their own grinding.  DH loved them and the crispy crowns, so dinner was a big hit.  He's currently on KP duty Kiss

I'm in for the 24th.  What time?

Debbie I'm glad things were negative and hoping that things turn out to be something that is minor and can be dealt with.

Deb.  We are opposites.  My twin couldn't say Sally so she called me Da/ doo.  Accent on the Da.  She and my brother still call me that sometimes if they are feeling affectionate..  I am the smart twin.  I called my sister Ann and my brother John. Haha!

Tired.  Going to bed at 8:00pm.  It was 7:30 last night and I felt great when I got up at 7:30  am!

Night ladies!  Gotta do the nightime 'hope for morning beauty' routine!
