Laurie- Do you know when the Big C starts again? You got me hooked on it and have been watching for it to return again.

Laurie, what is the Big C? Is it one of those greatly addictive series like MadMen and Breaking Bad, or The Killing? MM starts up again soon. Anyway, curious....
Have a good day!0 -
Debbie Boy when it rains it pours...they should be so lucky that your husband has been working during all this, given his symptoms, dont know how he makes it through the day! Thinking of you! and I am with seaside,,I think in large numbers we could definitely kick his A#$$!
Michelle Glad you are back safely....you know you had a good time when you have to rest from your vacation. He He
Last night was barbecued chicken leg quarters, with a good mesquite barbecue sauce, side of pasta salad and corn. Strawberry shortcake for dessert... the berries were buy1/get 1 not great but good enough.
Tonight is hump night YAY going to a mexian restaurant with huge margaritas

Debbie, I agree with Kaara about the lawsuit business. There is also a thing called a Hostile Work Environment. Not sure how it works, but I think if your husband wants to quit, he can for reason and still get unemployment, not that he wants to quit. I don't know what the new GM is thinking. It sounds like he is a D..k Head. I will be thinking of you and your husband tomorrow.
I made a very easy cold black bean soup for dinner. 3 cans of black beans, some chopped onion, garlic, salt, and enough vegetarian (can be chicken) borth to make it smooth blended in the blender.with some tobasco sauce. Topped with sour cream (or plain yogurt) and cilantro if desired.

Debbie- that is such crap what is going on at your DH's job. This is the last thing he needs to be thinking about. It amazes me how heartless people can be. The Big C starts again on April 8th, yay!
Lacey- The Big C is on showtime and is going into it's third season. It's about a woman who is diagnosed with stage IV melanoma. I've been told the series each year will address one of the stages of grief, fear, acceptance, anger, denial etc. It is pretty funny and very heart wrenching at times as well. I really like it! It's on on demand with my cable company, it was for Debbie too. So you can go back and watch the first two seasons to catch up. The shows are only a half hour long, so it goes quickly.
The boys are at my in laws for the morning so I have been grocery shopping and am about to vacuum and wash the floors. Bleck!!!! But it needs to be done so--here I go.
Have a great day ladies!

Debbie,
Thinking of you and sending up prayers that the surgery is a spectacular success tomorrow!!! Saw the weather channel this morning and it sounds like the weather is still nasty out your way... Travel safely!
Laurie,.
Many moons ago, you posted a recipe that a friend that you went camping with made with zucchini spears and ground beef. I wanted to make it and did find where you you posted it but, when you say to pour a jar of tomato sauce over it do you mean tomato sauce or spaghetti sauce... Also any idea how much?0 -
Seaside- You brown a pound of burger and add enough spaghetti sauce to make it into a meat sauce, sorry I have no specifics, it's to the taste. Cut zucchini into pickle type spears and lay in bottom of pyrex dish, top with burger mixture and cook at 350 for about 20 minutes, top with shredded cheddar cheese and cook till melted. Serve one white rice.
I hope I saw your post in time for dinner!
Chicken cor don bleu and sauce tonight with rice and zucchini.

Thanks Laurie!!
That sounds perfect and I have everything!!0 -
We were supposed to cook steaks on the grill tonight but I think the gloomy 41 degree temp will force us to postpone grilling until tomorrow when maybe the sun will come back out and warm us up. I think there will be tacos for supper tonight.
Debbie - sending positive thoughts to you and Chuck.
And I am sure we'll take pictures at Pickity Place! Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Wow - missed one night & hard to catch up. I'm with Seaside in volunteering to teach Debbie's DH's boss a lesson. Debbie - hope all goes well w/surgery tomorrow. Deborye - love the doormat.
Had a wonderful trip to Penzey's this afternoon - freeze dried shallots, crystalized ginger, Madagascar vanilla in addition to the regular garlic, etc. Dinner is pork roast & three bean salad.

I checked in the member list since we've all been missing Hauntie. Her last post was 2/17 on this thread shortly after her arthroscopic surgery. Hope she is OK.

MinusTwo,
That is concerning that Hauntie hasn't posted anywhere in almost a month.... Sometimes people just need a break so I hope that is the case for Hauntie...0 -
I never met Hauntie, but I hope that she is OK
Beer. Beer was for dinner tonight. I have finally been driven over the edge. It's my work computer that never works, not my home one and it makes it impossible to do my job and stresses me out because I am supposed to do my job and document online! I've finally decided that if they want to pay me what they do to talk to technical support everyday and drive around, ( I make visits to places sometimes an hour away from each other) hey, that's not a bad job, and certainly easier than the one they hired me for! And as for putting in a schedule and accounting for what I do every day, (another silly thing I have to do,) I will just put it "Spoke to technical support for 3 hours! Put in notes, computer crashed, they are gone! wrote paper notes 3 hours! Explained why notes weren't in computer (after multiple text messages from corporate), one hour! Drove to scheduled appt 2 hours! Gas, please reemburse for 90 miles!
Deb, take that mat out before I come or I may leave! See you all in NH
PS beer is really easy to prepare.

Bedo- YAY BEER!!!! I hope it helped. When I have rough days I call on my friend....wine Hope you're feeling more relaxed now, and I would put that in there- computers were crashed!!! You make me happy I became an at home mom. I will try to remember you and the corporate BS tomorrow when I hear my name 500 times before 8 am...mom, mommy, ma, mommy, mum, ma, mom,MOM! And be thankful I can say back....shhhhhh! LOL!

Dinner was a casserole with ground beef, kernel corn, pinto beans, brown rice, sour cream, grated cheese, green onions, taco seasoning. It's a WW recipe that's vegetarian but I added the lean ground round. Delicious salad with heirloom tomatoes, cucumber, and fresh mozzarella. Oil and vinegar dressing. I bought the heirloom tomatoes at Fresh Market today. Also the fresh mozzarella.
A new Cooking Light magazine in the mail today.

Sally~Don't worry, it's not mine. LOL
I have to prepare my soil in my garden, I would like to grow some heirloom tomatoes. I did not have a very good crop last year, but the year before was red and yellow tomatoes, also had some great crop of peppers.

LOL Laurie
I used to be a preceptor at my job all day and then go home to my toddler. Why...? Why... ? Why...? I was asked all day long and then after I came home too! I didn't even want to talk! I tried to tell my daughter one day that I couldn't answer another question today.... she asked me.....you guessed it... "Why?" I used to love those talking books that would "ding!" when it was time to turn the page. It would jolt me out of my snooze long enough to turn the page when my daughter wanted a book "read" to her.

Is it time to prepare the soil? I have a plot in a community organic garden. Do we plant early this year because of the warm weather? Have to have my buddy turn the soil then! Goodnight!

Deborye,
Don't lose heart... Last year was a really bad year for tomatoes... Too wet and cool! I had a great crop the year before last but, last year..... horrible!
Bedo,
Beer for dinner is, sometimes, just what you need! Hope your job smooths out soon! That has to be just so incredibly frustrating!
Laurie,
A nice glass of wine is often my calm in the storm of life.... I so remember those days of the endless..... Mom..mama.... mom....mom... Mommy... And I thought back to the first word that they spoke, which was in my kids case DaDa...lol! So then I thought back to the second word... Mama... I was just over the moon happy.... Little did I know how overused it would become in the years that followed!0 -
Bedo: Let's hear it for the beer dinner. Did you add Chetos? My dinner last night was wine - Silver Range Cabernet Savigon. In fact I managed to put away 3/4 of a bottle while talking on the phone passing along the sad news that a neighbor had given up & passed on. That's why supper tonight had to be meat & carbs & veg. Now I'm ready for a bowl of popcorn.

Ah popcorn...my favorite dinner!!!

Morning everyone! Prayers for Debbie & DH...hoping all goes well for them.
Dinner last night was simple...grilled chicken breasts with roasted brussel sprouts and carrots and a salad. Tonight we are going to dinner at a Karioke place (sp?) with some friends.
Today I am having my first thermography...it's been three months since my bc surgery so want to see if anything is brewing in there. I am going to alternate with mammograms every three months for a while. It's completely non invasive and no radiation, so safe. I'm just hoping for no suspicious areas, although, they would probably be so small they would only bear watching because it catches them so early. Anything large enough to be a problem would require an MRI for further diagnostics.
0 -
Kaara Good luck today with your thermography, I have not heard of it before, but will now investigate.
Laurie, I remember those days...I once told my kids to stop saying mom for just a few minutes and give me a break....and guess what...they said...Carrieee Now I would give my right arm to have them here and talking my ear off.
Last night at mexican restaurant I had a really good pork something or other, really cant get all the mexican terms of whats what, but the waiter told me they cook the pork slowly in pepsi and orange juice WTH? It was delicious, and of course the frozen margarita was great too. I only had one small one. Ha Ha saving up for St Patricks Day
Debbie Prayers for your husband.
Have a great day everyone. Carrie O'Berry

Kaara,
That thermography is a new one on me... Will have to read up on it... I alternate Mammos and MRI every 6 months but, would really love it if I could ditch the MRI... Those freak me out a bit!
Carrie,
Lol on the kids switching to Carrieeeee...
Debbie and Chuck....
Thinking of you and sending up prayers today as Chuck has his surgery!!!0 -
Seaside...you would still have to have an MRI if anything suspicious showed up, as a mammo could not catch it that early, but at least you could go longer between MRI's if all was normal. The goal is to catch suspicious areas before they become big problems.

The only reason my onc and BS want me to have MRI once a year and Mam once a year is b/c I have dense breast tissue.
