Dinner tonight will be last night's leftovers from my birthday dinner out.  DH and I both had oysters and spaghetti in olive oil and garlic sauce.  Since there aren't many oysters left, I bought a carton of lump crab meat to add.  Would have bought more fresh oysters but there weren't any at the closest supermarket.  I'll also prepare the baby artichokes following debbie's recipe suggestions.

Kaara, your meal for today sounded delicious.  Michelle, your meal out at the Spanish restaurant also sounded yummy.

The house is full of the aroma of roasting pork.  I cooked a Boston-butt roast for tomorrow's noon meal at my mother's.  We'll have sandwiches (buns) and a green pea salad.  Thawed frozen green peas, sliced boiled eggs, small cubes of cheddar cheese and sweet pickle relish with mayo dressing.

Hope everybody had a good Saturday.  Mine was lazy.  There was much that could have been done, but I went for a walk, made a quick trip to the supermarket, and made up my bed.  That's about it.   Oh, and put the roast in the oven after studding it with garlic cloves and sprinkling heavily with salt-free cajun seasoning (Paul Prudhomme's Magic).  Four hours at 325.  It's tender and falling off the bone.

Carole:  That pork roast sounds just like the ones my grandmother used to make!  Boy, were they good!  That green pea salad sounds interesting too...is that an LA specialty?

Everything's done for dinner tonight...just waiting for the company to arrive.

Deb, Well, thank you for telling us that.  I was all set to head up to NH next Friday.  What time  and date are we meeting again?  D'oh!

I can't wait to meet a new face, I have met many sistahs on the discussion boards and chat room.  I met Michelle, Laurie, Haunti, Joycek and another gal who's name slips my mind, CRS again.

Edit to say I just remembered her name, LuLu.

I also went to Las Vegas 10/4, 2008 and met 27 of the most wonder gals we had a fantastic time did a lot of things together while we were there.  Lost 3 of them to this beast.

    bedo,

Glad to hear that you being away was due to being tired and nothing more serious...

A total network crash is a huge deal resulting in lots of lost dollars to a company... Here's hoping that this is the kick in the butt that they need to realize that they NEED to upgrade their equipment... You can hire the best people possible but, if they don't have working equipment, it is all for nothing...

    Lacey (Pat),

Sending you a huge hug.... It's sure not easy to lose a beloved pet....

Have felt all of your wonderful hugs all day. Thanks so much...off to get some sleep..... a very long day...and was not successful yet with the photo attachments. On the positive side, when I turned on my computer and it was frozen solid, it looked like it was "virused" but DH in his patient way cleared whatever it was up and I'm back. Maybe I'll send him down to RI, Bedo! :) Good Luck Monday!

For take out dinner we had a very interesting Greek lentil soup, along with shrimp scampi over linguini, and caesar salad, from a favorite restaurant up the street, Sweet Basil. All so tasty, but my fingers already feel the salt.

Happy Sunday everyone!  I can't believe we already back on daylight savings time...it seems I just set the clocks back!  Might as well just change it and leave it that way.

Dinner was great last night....good company.  My friend prepared the most awesome crabcakes with sweet mustard sauce over baby arugula.  It was to die for!  She just loves to cook, and is kinda like Paula Dean...doesn't spare the calories, but when you eat, you don't mind!  She is suffering from cancer as well, a form of lukemia called CLL, which she has been living with for 10 years.  She has yet to have any treatment for it, and holds her own, but is ill quite a bit because her immune system is so bad.  She still works full time in real estate, and I wish she would slow down a bit, but she loves to keep busy.

DS and family are coming by today, so will get to see DGD.  Looking forward to that.

Deb, wish you could get here too....

Kaara, sounds like your weekend is going beautifully...what a wonderful dinner.....and your friend sounds amazing....is there no treatment for her condition or is she choosing to decline it?

    Enjoy your visit with DGD!

    Kaara Member Posts: 2,101

Lacey12:  There is treatment..chemo..but once she starts it, she is stuck with only that treatment, so she is waiting for some of the new treatments to be approved that are currently in trials.  She is holding her own so far.

If you wanted to post a pic from the internet, on the google home page click on images and type in the search engine/area like picture of a tiger or what ever you want when you find the picture you want, right click on it and select "copy URL" then come here, select the little tree the says Insert/edit image, a box comes up, click in the image URL which will show a blinking cursor, then right click to paste the URL you copied in the image URL in the blinking cursor box, then click in the first dimension box then click insert.

Hi everyone! Hope you're all enjoying Sunday.

Debbie, thanks for looking out for me, but I'm guessing it would probably be about an eight hour drive for me to get to pickety place. I wish I could join the group. I think Michelle mentioned being in new jersey sometime and I said I'd live to get together if that happened,

Debbie, very sorry to hear about the insurance ups and downs with your DH's sx. Is everything resolved yet? I am continuing to think of and pray for you both.

Lacey, I am sorry about the "real" Lacey. I am glad she had a last hurrah with your grandson though.

Happy birthday Carole! Hope you enjoyed it. Hope you're enjoying your vacation Apple.

Bedo, sorry work is not going so well for you. Hope things get better. But I agree with the others, you are more important than th job. Don't miss that onc appointment.

Laurie, summer food sounds good. I was out all day at a mindfulness retreat and roasted some asparagus and had a Mediterranean wrap with it for dinner. It was so light and refreshing! I spread hummus on a wrap, then put on marinated cucumber, grape tomatoes, calmata olives and a little feta cheese. It was Delish! Had some strawberries, grapes, blueberries and kiwi for dessert. There may also be some ice cream in my near future. LOL

Will check in later. Take care everyone. Hugs to all.

I know this is off topic but---

For some time I've been trying to think of some way to check on cyber sisters who just disappear from these forums.  Sometimes it is just that they have been busy elsewhere, but no one knew how to reach them.  I'm active on over a dozen topics and I've noticed that several of my sisters frequent some of the same topics.  I figure that it would take only 3 or 4 of those women willing to keep my phone number and call to see if I'm OK should I disappear for an extended time and I would be happy to do the same for them.  If we start a movement to do that we would have few if any instances like the current one in The Fuzzy Room, where we are left wondering and worrying about someone we care for with no way of finding out.  This way personal information would not need to be published but someone could always check.

Just send a private message to someone to talk to frequently, maybe feel a connection with and talk to them about the idea, see if they want to exchange information.   Chabba

Kay, so good to have you check in. .....your dinner sounded wonderfully tasty and healthy!

Joyce, you are too funny with your weather attributions. a good friend of mine just flew from your area to NY for the week. Maybe she took the wind with her and Michelle can be off the hook!

Have been thinking of your DH and the painful time he is enduring. He'll be so happy to see you on Tuesday....and you'll no doubt be happy to have a good home cooked meal!

Our house feels really empty today...and it was hard to make our salad tonight with no one to throw the lettuce spines to. It takes Lacey not being here to totally realize how extensively she was woven into our life fabric.

I started writing an article about her and this experience (because no one has ever written about losing a beloved pet, right?! :) But it is giving me some compulsive pleasure, and a chance to think about my parental losses too. All in all, fairly therapeutic....hope I can actually get it done. Would love to be so self-indulgent as to take a sick day tomorrow just to work on that, but life goes on especially in my heavy caseload. Am writing phrases of images as they come with the hope that they will mean something to me when I have time to organize it into a whole. :)

Have a good evening, all....not into this early daylight saving time!

I agree, this daylight savings time is for the birds!

Chabba, that is a great idea.

Joyce, I'm sorry, I forgot to give my condolences on the loss of your friend. I am sorry you couldn't be with your DH for the services. Hugs to you.

    Have a wonderful week everyone.

Joyce- Hugs to you and DH this has to be so hard for you all right now, if you cant sleep and want to talk i will check in and see if you are still awake, im a night owl as you all know.

Chabba- Sounds like a great idea, i notice some ladies too that i havnt seen for awhile and havnt logged in and worry about them- I do have some of the ladies on here on my FB so know that if something happened they would see it on my fb but think its a good idea to have someone have our numbers, i would give my cell phone to some one just let me know.

Lacey- Thinking about you today also. I had a dog named bear that i lost about 6 years ago and i still mourn him. All my dogs actually, they are family and with there won personalities just like our kids do too,

Kay- I was wondering if you were going to drive that far LOL! Maybe some day we can all meet up in vegas or someplace fun like that!  Hopefully we will find out tomorrow something from the insurance they know he has his appointment set for the 15th and are anxious to get it approved, the insurance guy at the casino that is like the go between guy did a lot of leg work yesterday i was surprised since it was a saturday but he really is trying to help him.
