Special k glad you are ok. Laurie, I am happy you had a good(if wet) campout. Lacy you will definetly have a good story to tell about the play! My brother in law had a cookout today. My DH went fishing with the big brother, big sister outing to help and came home with some fresh salmon so we grilled it too, Yum.Much love to all.

Laurie - I thought about you yesterday when we were on our way home from Boston and the radar showed storms still lingering up in your direction.  Good thinking to have the fire going before the rains came!  We ate many a meal inside during a passing rainstorm!

Debbie - we'll just have to come up with something nicer for Debbie...but right this minute I'm so tired I can't even think...LOL!  We were in the lake all afternoon with the kiddies then Rick and I made teriyaki beef kebobs with grilled veggies, rice, and bread for dinner.   I may not move a muscle all day tomorrow!!!

SpecialK - oh my, tornadoes and 24" of rain???  We lived in the Kansas City area and most of the tornadoes were around us but not over us.  But 24" of rain is indication it's time to build the ark!!!

Lacey - what a great story to remember 20 years from now!  And chicken cutlet - ah, you can order them on Amazon!  Land's End is a good place for mastectomy bathing suits.  Also, some of the two piece tops have an opening so you can "enhance" your bustline.  I think I saw some at Penney's.  And that breakfast place sounds like something we need to check out!

I'm still dumbfounded that house guests, relatives or not, would help themselves to their hosts' possessions.  It just blows my mind.

Houseguests stealing??  This is why we have no guestroom at our home in Florida..lol!  When relatives come to visit they can stay in a hotel or sleep on the sofabed in my office...NOT!  I can't imagine accepting someone's hospitality and then stealing something from them.  Now I've heard everything!

Ok- I am going to have to go back and read the three pages I missed while camping and having no cell coverage.  House guests stealing???  Insane.  I remember in my early 20's having a friend who crashed in our spare bedroom on a regular basis.  One night he had too many drinks and used "the good towels"  I had a talk with him about it :P (there is no such thing as good towels anymore, the boys have seen to that) Stealing?  Apple I am so sorry!

Debbie- How about Little Debbie- I know a lot of people who get smiles from her snack cakes:)

Darling Determined Debbie, do not stress about all of those unflattering associations to your name....I know we can all come up with more fitting positive ones! Your determination has gotten you through so much!!

Just to finish my day of oralmania, for dinner we went out to a little pub down in town, and while I didn't think I was even hungry before we left the house (just really tired after so much exertion sitting and talking at the beach!!), a lamb burger caught my eye on the menu. OMG! What an appetite enhancer! It was made with garlic and rosemary and served on a ciabbatta bun with feta, lettuce, tomato, and red onion slices (sorry). I ate the whole thing! Have never had a lamburger before, but I'll be back for that one! Maybe not on the same day on which I've had a big brunch!

Laurie, "Little Debbie" is such a cute reference....but of course I'm all about food today, so I'd love it! It does erase all those downer references.

And how about Debbie Dynamite? OK I'm shutting myself off now.....

Lacey- lol- I need to shut myself off too!  The lamb patty burger sounds great!  You just confirmed for me thatI need to go to the "other" grocery store.  I used to make lamb patties with tomato and mozzarella and oregano all the time, fry up zucchini sticks with a hiney mayo dip. I haven't done it in forever becaue my regular store never puts their ground lamb on sale it's 8.99 a pound!  But.....if I go to the store I HATE I can get it for 4.99 a pound.....I am going to go this week.  I love that dinner.  Glad you had a great dinner tonight!! Nothing better!

    HONEY mayo dip;P

I think I mentioned the swim poofy here. There is a new thread under reconstruction that has pics of how to do it. Sorry I can't link. But just FYI.

Moonflwr- I will check out the swim puffy i didnt have much luck when i went to hawaii with anything i was happy about. I have no cleveage what so ever on the left side, its kind of conclave so really cant wear anything that is low. I often wonder what those w/o recon handle this.

  • LuvRVing
    LuvRVing Member Posts: 2,409

Debbie - there are some women without recon who are starting to go topless...there was a lawsuit in WA, I think, and the decision was made to allow women without breasts to go topless in the city pools.  I couldn't do it.

Moonflwr - I tried, rather unsuccessfully, earlier this year to make a swim form out of a bath poofy.  I'll check out the thread and see if there is something I missed earlier.  But you still have to have a suit that has an opening or one where you can make a slit to cram it in there, or somehow stitch it in place.  I have actual mastectomy bathing suits (not exactly the most fashionable styles) and I can use my real breast forms with the suits.

I'm so not doing anything today except reading and I "might" vacuum if I can muster the energy.  Yesterday wore me out.  It was a fun day but next time I need DH to be around to help out.

Yesterday I went fishing with my hubby.  He caught a nice little (13 lb) King salmon.  So, for dinner we had poached salmon with lemon sauce and stuffed portabelo mushrooms.  Blueberries for desert.  :)

On the different topic - I don't know how anyone with a mastectomy could go topless - it would just freak me out.  After the mastectomy and before recon I purchased a swim "falsey" and converted one of my bathingsuits into a mastectomy suit by sewing in my own sleeve.  It worked out OK.

I couldn't imagine going topless?  Why?

I am thinking dinner tonight will be eggplant parm.....

After a very busy weekend we are having a stay at home and do nothing day.  Made some banana bread, doing laundry and odd chores around the house while the boys play with play doh.  Thunderstorms are supposed to be off and on all day. :(  Michelle, it looks like you might have gotten the big ones this morning?  Hope all is ok and you are enjoying a quiet day.  We were lucky and it stayed south of us this morning....I am hoping we luck out this afternoon too.

Just took a tour of the neighborhood!  OMG - less than 1/8 mi. up the street there are big trees down, entire pool cages ripped off, fences down, etc.  Fortunately no serious damage to the actual houses, and nobody hurt that I know of.  You can see the path, we live on the edge of the preserve and you can see the flattened trees  - we were lucky it stopped just short of our house. We had limbs down and roof shingles off, but that was it.  It is amazing where the decorative bark in the landscaped beds ends up!  A bunch plastered to the side of the house!  My DD took pics and is sending them to the news stations.  If they use them I will post the links. It is continuing to rain!

Laurie - we have had some thunderstorms and it's still raining lightly.  But they were not that bad - I don't think they were right over us.  And I am being a lazy slug...lol.  I did toss the sheets in the washer and sometime after lunch I'll empty the dishwasher and fill it with the leftovers from last night's dinner.  I thought about pulling out the vacuum hose (we have central vac) but I'm not so sure that will happen.

As for the topless thing, there was a thread here on BCO last summer, I think.  In this specific case, the woman said that wearing a regular bathing suit caused her chest pain.

I'm not about to start explaining to my grandchildren and the neighbor kids why I have no breasts, but to each his own, I guess.

At my age there's a limit to what I want to expose to the world...lol!  Years ago when I took a trip to Spain with some friends, we went to the nude beach at Costa Del Sol and I was willing to take off my top, but my friend said if I did, she would never speak to me again, so friendship won out.  Ah well...no opportunities presented themselves after that moment in time.

We're about to head home...hoping to avoid any major downpours on the highway....so much severe weather in so many places!
I just heard on the news that the black bear that has been traveling around the Boston suburbs is now in my town. After hearing that and seeing a rather large fox parading around our property (with a small critter in its mouth) up here, I am relieved that Lacey is safely in pup heaven. I would be a wreck worrying about her safety since she would probably try to assert her small self with any wildlife, with unfortunate consequences!

Thanks for the referral to the swim puffy info, Michelle. I may well try to make one...now that I will have time to get crafty.
SpecialK, hope, you are able to get to your appt. today.

Hope you are all having a relaxing Monday. If I didn't have a dentist appt later today, I'd stay here and watch a movie...or finish my book.

After 3 days on the road, we've stopped for a couple of days in Clinton, Iowa, on the mighty Mississippi River.  We're set up in the town rv park, which is very nice, within easy walking distance of the levee, which has a walking/biking path.  This morning we went for a long walk and stopped along the way for breakfast at a cafe.  We also stopped at the historic courthouse and went inside to check it out.

Best of all, it was so cool this morning that we SAT IN THE SUNSHINE!!!  The A/C is off in the rv and we have doors and windows open.  Tonight we plan to walk to the nearby ballpark for a minor league baseball game.

On the food front, there isn't much of interest to share.  Apple, we had Hebrew National hot dogs on Saturday night.  DH loves that brand and they are really good.

We bought some delicious IL peaches at a vegetable stand in Grafton, Il, which is another interesting river town.

Speaking of natural disasters, a tree fell on my car, which I'd left parked at my mother's house in an old garage.  I left it there to be used to take her places. The tree broke off about 5 ft. from the ground.  No rain.  No wind.  No bad weather at all.  I guess it was just the tree's moment to fall!

Deb, I'm glad the shower was such a happy event.

SpecialK, glad the tornado steered clear of your house!  Sounds scary.

My chemo brain is never going to allow me to catch up now Laughing

Happy to hear that all those near very adverse weather are safe and sound and back from camping trips.

Yikes.. topless and I havent even had my mx yet.  I agree Kaara... you get to an age where really less exposure is definitely best.

No idea about dinner tonight... whatever DH wishes to pull out the freezer and cook.

Michelle-  I agree, i could never go topless, im pretty modest always have been although i did have my younger days of skinny dipping but not where anywhere saw me. Just not me either, a womens body is beautiful with or without breast but i dont really wanna see them parade around. It seems like you have not slowed down much even after you got back from Paris, don't know how you do it, but now maybe your body is saying, time to slow down and rest a bit, hope you have a nice relaxing day. thanks for the links.

Specialk- Thats cutting it a bit close, wow glad you didnt get too much damage especially how close it was to your home. Hope you are able to keep your appointment today.

Carol-What a great trip you are having, I miss being able to travel either by rv or with a camper trailer my dh prefers a car and hotel type traveling.

Lacey- Be safe driving home. Pretty scarey having a bear walk around your neighborhood. we had one a (beer) walking around ours a few months ago never saw it though. (beer) was for you Laurie lol!

Got up early today and cooked dh a big breakfast before he headed out to play golf on his day off, even though its pouring out. Made oj from some fresh squeezed oranges. french toast, sausages and scrambled eggs with onions and cheese topped with salsa and avacado slices. pretty yummy.

Lucky me....only a few spots of driving rain during our trip home, so it was fine.

Debbie, I clearly recall that "beer" in your neighborhood some months ago.

I think he was the one looking for Laurie's hiney mustard ! ;)

We've gone to nude beaches in the Caribbean, but both DH and I have been too chicken to join in - even when we were younger and undoubtedly better looking than now....  old age sucks....  mastectomy sucks....  cancer sucks....

Back to the dinner shelf - we're having salmon again, except tonight it will be weber'd with a little smoke added.  Spinach and rice for side dishes.  :)

Carole- He has golfed in high winds, and hail too lol! Nothing stops these guys from golfing, he told me they told him they have only canceled there golf twice in all the years they have been playing so the weather had to of been really really bad for them to not play. The sun is peeking out now though.
