Michelle  i was thinking the same thing as Joy....you may look alike but you got the smarts!

It truly must have been " Whacky Wednesday" for sure.  I was so stressed with all of the school work that I dont understand, I was freaking out, along with numerous phone calls to the school (which just gave me more things to do) Was too stressed to go to hump night activities, my DH went and I sat here eating oreos (which I dont even really like) Today I am going to remove myself from the situation and do some retail therapy with my sister.

Moonflwr  You have certainly had your challenges. So many nurses are unable to access the ports, she should have admitted defeat after the second try instead of torturing you. I would call the home care company and request a nurse that is better trained and if they dont have one maybe you can go get the port accessed and have the home care nurse meet you there to do the infusion...will save time and stress and pain and suffering.  Hope you are healing and on the road to recovery Thinking of you.

Debbie  Nope you are not the only one  I was thinking the same thing about the affair, but thought it was funny how casual she was about it.

Today is baking day. I'll be making English muffins, pie crust for apple pies tomorrow and rye bread. I'm having family from out of town tomorrow so I'm fixing a crown roast of pork with salted potatoes (told you I was hooked), roasted Brussels sprouts in a honey Dijon mustard sauce and the rye bread. Tonight I think I'll roast a chicken that's been languishing in my freezer for a while with some asparagus with lemon butter. Then I can use the leftovers for chicken salad for lunch.

I'll be wearing my iPod during all these activities because roofers are putting a new roof on and man is it noisy!

Carrie- I forgot to say lol at your dream of me!! I hope your Thursday is way better than your Wednesday was and that things have calmed down a bit.

Moonflower- So sorry you had such a bad day yesterday.  I hope you were able to enjoy your evening and wake up to a better day today.

Auntienance- Your chicken sounds good.  I think I might roast a chicken tonight myself :)

Michelle- Love the picture!  That is too funny!  You really do look a lot like her!  I'm glad your mom is doing better and the meds are working for her.  It must give you so much relief.  Also love the five questions thread you have all started so interesting!!

LOL at all the pirate talk!!  We talk like pirates here all the time.

Does anyone know if you can freeze eggplant?

Last night I made some soup that my neighbor had given me the recipe to.  It is so good and I don't even like what is in it.  Here is the recipe if anyone wants to give it a try.

    6 cups chicken broth

3 cans cream of chicken soup

    1 1/2 cups diced onion

    3/4 tsp oregano

    3/4 tsp basil

    salt and pepper

    1 clove of garlic minced

    4 cups cooked cubed chicken

    1 package frozen tortellini

1 package of frozen California mix veggies

put broth and onion in a pot and bring to a boil cook until onions are soft add seasonings and cream of chicken soup and return to a simmer.  Add chicken, tortellini and veggies and simmer for about 25 minutes.

Tonight I might roast a chicken.....

We had a beautiful day here today and we took advantage of it.  We met some friends at a local farm and did the three corn mazes and brought lunch and had a picnic and finished off with ice cream.  Of course we missed nap time so now the boys are wired and a little out of control!  Is it 7 yet?   Lol!!

Just had a moment of brilliance I wanted to share.  I had two of those plastic "in box" "out box" shelves you put on your desk to organize papers.  They were not being used and sitting on the floor next to the desk, where I manage to trip over them daily on the way to the shredder.  It occurred to me that I could put them in the freezer to organize small things like frozen hamburger patties and individually wrapped steaks.  I always lose them at the back of the freezer!

Special K....love brilliant new ideas...good one for your unused desk organizer! Maybe there are freezer uses for many of my unused items around the house! :)

Did lots of walking along the Oak Bluffs shore line today, then stopped in to my friend's favorite fish store where we picked up some huge scallops and shrimp, which we shall saute and have (after some potato leek soup),with baby romaine with fresh tomato salad, and ratatouile. We also had some really yummy clam chower from the fish store, which had some picnic tables in front so we enjoyed chowder while basking in the sun!

Nice day....DH takes the ferry home tonight so he can make some work meetings tomorrow. I think we will BOTH miss him, since he has been a great addition to our girlfriend duo, and my widowed friend misses her DH terribly.

    Have a good evening everyone......

Lacey - it's a great day for soup!  Your day sounds fantastic!

SpecialK - I love the idea of using those trays to corral the small stuff in the freezer.  The magazine "Real Simple" publishe ideas like that.  You should submit this one, I really do think it's a good one!

We're having a chicken stirfry with lots of veggies for dinner tonight, and dutch apple pie for dessert (from the nearby apple orchard).

Whole roaster chickens are on sale at Shaw's.  I might actually pick one up this weekend and make some Mama Mandola's Sicilian Chicken Soup (a Carrabba's copycat recipe).

luv - for all I know I read it in Real Simple 6 months ago and it was there in the back of my mind subliminally, lol!  I will go on their site and search for it though and then submit if I don't find it!

Speaking of unusual uses for things in the kitchen - you guys will think I am a nut but all during the time my children were growing up we hid silly things around the kitchen - we had a little rubber alien that was in the pantry, a plastic Mowgli (from the Jungle Book) in the cupboard with the dishes, a little monkey with a hula skirt in the fridge.  I don't remember how this started but they are still in my kitchen now, and my children are 23 and 24!  Even now they laugh when they open the the door and say "Hey! There is the pantry alien!"

Just heard from DH - he is stranded in the airport in Miami for a couple of hours so won't be home for dinner.  I went out to lunch with a friend and had a brisket sandwich without the roll, and I am still full!

Laurie- Your day sounded really fun. I will copy/paste your recipe it will be great since winter is just about here. I made eggplant parmesan for my dad and when he couldn't make it, I froze it and pulled it out of the freezer when my sister was here it was delicious.

Lacey- Yumm on the scallops and shrimp!

Specialk- What a brillant idea, I have some of those in my spare room just sitting there collecting dust tomorrow I will see if they fit in the freezer.

Blackened cod with brussel sprouts for dinner for me and chicken with a peanut sauce for DH.

All dinners sound fantastic! I would eat any of them. My daughter who lives close dropped by, and helped me decorate for fall. It made me so happy. I took her out and treated us both to a nice dinner. She had a seafood platter, I had Bengali shrimp. Ooooh so good. I justified it as a late bday dinner, what I would have had if I wasn't in he hospital that day. The really good news, is when my DH gets home this weekend, maybe I can talk him into taking me out for crab or shrmp for my birthday. That might actually work, hmmmmm....... LOL

Oh you guys are killing me with the seafood dinners.  We are going out to dinner tonight, I may have to indulge.

The TV show Parenthood is "giving" the lead lady breast cancer this season.  I do not watch the show but it will be interesting to see how they present this.

Moon, I am so glad you had a nice dinner with your DD!  You have been blasted with some rotten luck lately, it seems like your luck is turning around.  I agree, the seafood dinners are killing me.  I love seafood.

We had leftovers last night.  I ate some leftover eggplant parm too.  Mine was good as well.  That is one of the things I like about that dinner, it tastes just as good as leftovers.  I don't think I can say that about a lot of things.

Michelle, that really is quite a resemblance!  You should put a picture of Tina Fay playing Sarah up with it too, to see who looks more like her.  I took your advice and booked the Eurostar yesterday.  It was $65 for a one way ticket from Paris to London.  Well worth it to visit Paris while we are there for that!  I feel like we're moving along with plans.  I better get started on a passport.  DH has one.  Mine expired 20 years ago.  I guess we had time to travel before kids and not so much since.  I really can't wait, I bet you couldn't tell.

Moon- Sounds like you are on the mend. And happy for you that you got to celebrate a birthday dinner with DD, you can make your birthday a birthday month and celebrate all month long with DH too! They owe you big time for all you have been going through.

Kay- I need to get my passport too, you can use it to get a pass (can't remember what its called) so when you go to the airport you don't have to stand in line forever, you jump right ahead of everyone or at least until everyone else does the same thing it seems like a good idea. Happy for you that you are going to paris.

My new bed arrived this morning I am so happy, we bought a 12inch foam mattress bed it usually retails over $1,000 but got it brand new and unopened from Amazon and only paid $ 400 for it. Our old mattress was sinking in where I met my husband in the middle every night so uncomfortable and made my back hurt. hope this one  helps now I have to find some one who will come and get it and take it to the dump for us.

Going out to dinner tonight with some old friends whom we havn't seen for awhile, yay don't have to cook tonight!

Dunno what is for dinner tonight....was thinking ribs but they are still in the freezer ?   It is so warm here (34 at the mo) so something bbq'd with salad and corn methinks.

Everyone have a fab weekend whatever your may be doing.

Oh Special K and Debbie you got me in trouble!!!! At the end of our 8:30 am conference call I informed everyone that it was National Talk Like a Pirate Day and started reading some of Debbie's top 10's until I said, 'the rest are kind of... racy"  My boss cut in by saying "ANYway... I will not be using any of those pick up lines..." but I heard muffled snorting in the background and everyone called me to tell me they loved it.  Discharged some clients today, faxed my other boss note, "Had to make em walk the plank.." AAAAAAAAAAAARRGGGHHHH They be land-lubbers and then they be PIRATES!!!!

Made a huge pot of Southwestern Corn Chowder for the girl with fresh corn, sweet potatoes, green chili, red pepper, vegetable broth, cumin, onion, garlic and graced with cilantro and lime slices. With fresh bread and chocolate ice cream, then watched the Marigold Hotel on Netflix or where she found it.  Family is the best.

And so are you  (all)   youse-guys, y'all.  From a New Yorker, Colorado-er, Bostonian , Georgian, Alaskan, Rhode Islander.

Moon, it will get better.  I am keeping my fingers crossed

Michelle, I loved reading your answers!

It would be fun to do that here. Do you think anyone would mind?  I, for one, would like to know what drugs Debbie is on that makes her keep her sweet disposition, and Apple so organized artistic and Laurie so productive among others.  I need them
