It will all work out - it must...

Debbie - I'm doing OK, just really tired but then, who wouldn't be after this past week?  Sorry to hear Chuck is having such struggles.  I hope you are taking care of yourself in the middle of all this...hugs to both of you!

Michelle, how unlikely is it that the Secret Service would figure into your family's funeral arrangements?  Incredible!

Debbie, I hope your DH gets better and that his job is there when he's able to return to work.

Deborye, how are you holding up?

Laurie, I'm hoping that your health has improved.  You seem to handle your busy life well, but there is probably some stress in all the multi-tasking.  And stress is not good for us.

Moonflower, thinking of you and your family at this sad time.

Friday is one of my golf days but everybody was out of town or unavailable to play today.  SO I went out and bought some pansies and gerbera daisies to plant in the pots on my patio.  It was so humid outside that I was dripping with perspiration.  This weekend is supposed to be much cooler.

Dinner will be leftovers:  pork loin and red beans and rice.  Plus a nice tossed salad with avocado and Greek olives.

    Michelle,

I wonder if the Nashua police would help? Generally, they will provide a police escort for funerals. Might be worth a call. Unfortunate timing to say the least.

Oh dear, Michelle. Good luck with avoiding the chaos and blockades. Maybe the good news is that Obama will probably be there all of ten minutes with the major blitz he is on, covering so many cities. Just too bad that you have this complication to deal with.....

Debbie, (((HUGS))) to you and Chuck, and hoping for the best, first with his health and then with his work position. I know this must be such a stress for you.

DH and I just had carrot ginger soup and leftover veggie chili for dinner.....early for us. We are headed out to see Argo......

Michelle, I guess nothing is easy..sigh...

Debbie....If your DH hates being sick even half as much as I do...He's going nuts...and taking everyone else too! I hope they can quickly get to the bottom of it.

Moonflwr....thinking of you. I remember both my dad's and Mickey's travels down that road.... Hugs to everyone there.

Everyone that needs to, stay safe in the storm. I'm hoping the storm is a "no event". I'd rather not get called up for storm duty.

Dinner tonight....nothing.... I took the day off to watch Chrissy (DD) swim in the district qualification swim meet....She qualified, so she'll be swimming in the finals tomorrow. Chrissy was starved, so after the meet, the three of us went to lunch and stuffed ourselves.

Debbie and Moon, so sorry for your family troubles. Too much stress there. Michelle, I truly hope this works out for you, what a development.

Dinner tonight is potato leek soup and more bread sticks.

Eric, tell Chrissy we wish her luck.

Thanks for the prayers and good wishes. My MIL is actually doing a bit better right now, but will remain in hospice. I think she is waiting for the weekend so people can visit. I am home now because with so many of the siblings and their families visiting, there are a lot of people for her. I will probably go back on Sunday afternoon with my daughter as people go home to do night shift and the sibs need a good nites sleep. All depending on what happens. So kind of a holding pattern.

Will eat leftovers if I can find good ones, otherwise guess I will be cleaning out the fridge! LOL. Much love to all .

I thought this picture was funny-I just don't get why the lady has such big boobs?  Maybe its me....

Debbie- Hope your Dh is ok- sounds worrisome:(  Hope you are feeling ok too and your Dad.

Michelle- I can't believe you have to deal with the stress of getting in and out of the funeral in addition to just putting your mother to rest.  I hope things go smoothly tomorrow.

Carol- Thanks for thinking of me.  I am still battling the whole sinus crappy feeling thing- but I just keep plugging along and trying to find my own way.  Allergy meds have helped the past few days I hoping that will solve the problem.

Tonight was tacos.  I am hoping this storm is a bunch of hype.  I grocery shopped today so we are all stocked up for the next week or so.  Lots of good meats on sale.

    Hope everyone is well.

Eric- Sounds like you had a great day!

    HUGS Debbie.

If I go anywhere it will be myself at a B & B like the Sugar Hill Inn in NH or On Golden Pond on Squam Lake in NH.  He would not go to anyplace like that.  I wish my DD lived closer, she would go with me in a heart beat.Kiss

    And hugs to all xxx

She has big boobs because she went to a male plastic surgeon. Sharon's plastics guy still, I think, feels she is making a mistake because she didn't have the tissue expanders inflated well! past the point of grotesquely large.

Eric- lol!  I will add that comic does NOT apply to you!  Funny I had a male PS and he was the opposite and wanted to be conservative on size.  Although he was also obsessed with natural droop :/ I explained if I was going through all of this they could at least not look like they were 100% natural after having 2 kids, some perk would be nice!

Laurie:  LOL!  I copied that joke off my FB page to send to a friend of mine who is down with the flu right now.  Hope he will see the humor in it.

Debbie:  So sorry your DH is not doing well right now.  Hopefully he will get better and can return to work soon.  They usually have to hold the job open or offer him another position for at least ninety days.

Michelle:  Your plate is really full right now...how much can one person be expected to bear.  Please take care of yourself.

For everyone in the storm's way...take it seriously and prepare!

Lots going on with this post!

Debbie  so sorry your husband is not feeling well.  dont be so sure he cant be fired...make sure you check the fine print...they "let me go" because I was out too long for treatments....I knew there was a time limit so I worked all through chemo...sick as a dog, and with kids that were always sick....but anyways my surgeries kept me out too long and I was let go.  sometimes things happen for a reason, though.

My DH is at the point where he is talking of selling our business and retiring..and I am in panick mode, as I dont know what I will do with him around all the time...besides the obvious (kill him)

Debbie Alone time!...priceless.  Me and the girlfriends are planning a trip to NYC, always said we would do this when I got done with treatment....well a year and half later we are finally getting around to it.  One of the friends husbands is having a fit and saying that he doesnt think his wife can go..she works and has her own money wo what the heck is his problem?  Hope she stands up to him and tells him she is going anyways.  We will visit my daughter and she will be our tour guide.   Girls gone wild!! ha ha

Halloween party tonight, so I will make a pot of soup and we will have a mid day lunch.  Have a big loaf of "everything" bread (like the bagels with the seasoning on top) and have grilled ham and cheese sandwiches.

Trying a new recipe tonight: Roasted Pork Chops with drunken apples. I liked the name ;-)

Auntienance - OHH Drunken Apples sounds good. Having a pork loin tomorrow. Sounds good with it.  Freezer is just stuffed and trying to use some things up. Googled recipe and found with rum or bourbon both of which I have. Sometimes looks like we own a bar in "that" cabinet. Which do you plan on using?  Share???

Very cold this morning. Pulled houseplants up next to house and wrapped with fabric cloth. Out in the country where it is significantly colder. But forecast back in the 80s by week's end. Hate to bring them in yet. Hope my tomatoes and figs didn't freeze. Think it was just a couple degrees warmer than they predicted - and yet another cold one tonight.

    Luv, certainly!

5 large honeycrisp apples, peeled, cored and sliced

    2 Tbs. Butter

    1/4 cup sugar

    1Tbs. brown sugar

    1tsp. Cinnamon

    1/8 tsp. Nutmeg

    2 Tbs. Rum

    1/4 cup water

    1tsp. cornstarch

    1 Tbs. fresh lemon juice

Melt butter in medium saucepan over medium heat. Add apples, a pinch of salt, and remaining ingredients, stirring to combine. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to medium low and simmer until apples are almost tender, about 5 minutes. In a small bowl, dissolve cornstarch in lemon juice. Add to apple mixture. Simmer until thickened, about 2 minutes longer. Set side and keep warm. Serve with pork.

Only two tablespoons of rum? New England apples take more than that to get drunken.  :-)

Supper for me will be popcorn.  I am soooo tired.  Wait 'til you read this:

My aunt, my mother's older sister, is as JoyceK can attest, a bitch.  She was unhappy that we had to pick her up (instead of my sister) and we had arranged to get her at 10:15 for the service at 11:00.  We had to provide the name of the driver, make and model of the car that would be going into the lockdown area to fetch her and her sister.  So since I am not familiar with my sister's car, I gave the Obama folks our car information, figuring we'd pick them both up and take them to the church.  Well, she got a hair across her a$$ and decided she didn't like those arrangements, so she decided not to attend the funeral mass.  There was no convincing her otherwise - she is the most stubborn human being I know, who doesn't care that she is hurting me, my sister, her sister, and herself.  She'd rather cut off her nose to spite her face.  So, she didn't go.  Unbelievable!  She is a miserable human being!

Oh my God Michelle, as if you didn't have enough to deal with. I'm thinking she will regret that decision down the road, even if she doesn't admit it. So sorry.

Susan, well the pork chops have a white wine sauce so maybe between the two it will be enough to get me, I mean the apples, drunken ;-D

Michelle, In a word, I am horrifed. I hope that your popcorn has tons of butter and that you have some sloppy sweatpants on. I have no idea if this woman will ever care, but that truly isn't your concern. Toxic people just make the world a worse place.

Auntie, we can only hope that your apples a giggling in glee as they are served over your chops.

My husband's client stayed until 7pm, a full two hours, so my thawed lamb went back into the fridge and we went to Five Guys. Husband wanted a burger. I will make the Turkish Koftas [seasoned lamb] with tomato and yogurt sauce tomorrow.

Hand is getting better, but still can't mince onions. Maybe tomorrow.

My younger brother came from Atlanta this weekend to visit our mother.  I went to her house this afternoon and made chicken and sausage gumbo and potato salad  for supper.  My dh joined us after he had finished playing in a golf tournament.  I had a small bowl of gumbo over rice and a moderate helping of potato salad.  The food was so-o-o-o delicious, if I do say so.  I haven't had gumbo or potato salad in a long time and the cool weather today was perfect for comfort food.

Tomorrow will be another food challenge as my mother is cooking a beef roast AND a pork roast in two slow cookers.  My youngest sister will make mashed potatoes with cream cheese one of the ingredients.  I'll cook green beans and make a tossed salad.  And, yes, there will be gravy with the roasts.

Monday morning is my WW weigh-in!

Wish the storm would fool all the meteorologists and turn out to sea.  I'd like to see Jim Cantori standing on the beach looking puzzled because the wind wasn't blowing.

Why is it that there is frequently one borderline relative who just cannot allow the family task to get done without making sure that his.... usually her,.... need for attention and entitlement is totally met by being miserable to everyone in her path. Oy! We would have had a similar situation with one of my mother's relatives, but there was no way she would risk missing the food at the repast. ;) Just think of the perverse satisfaction your aunt gets to have in feeling that you all deprived her of today's services. It was obviously just too hard for her to say good-bye to her little sister.....even tho you did your best to help her do that.

Enjoy your popcorn, Michelle. You more than deserve it!
