Hi everyone!  Got home from chemo about 4:30 or so and took a quick nap.  Wow!  Mainlining benadryl put me in quite the stupor!  But the steroids were in conflict and I couldn't sleep, just lay there, closed my eyes once in a while and tried to keep up a conversation with DH and DS.  I think the worst has passed and I'm just extremely thirsty.  I drank fluids the whole time I was in the chair, and now I am eating grapes.

We are having leftovers for supper - there's plenty of stuff in the fridge.

Everything sounds good - I'm actually quite hungry!

Debbie - the fog has lifted and I don't feel so hung over...I was able to form some seemingly logical thoughts for my blog.  Well, at least I hope they were logical Wink  I feel ok but I think I'll sleep tonight!

Michelle- Just finishied catching up on your blog, the story of your friends brought a tear to my eye. Is it standard to give benadryl with taxol ? I had never heard of that, but i didnt have taxol as part of my tx. Sounds like it really threw you for a loop! I never liked taking the steriods either, i had to take a ambien so i could sleep. I will be thinking about you and hoping you get some rest tonight! *(((((hugs))))

that benadryl really knocks you out.. i could feel it surging thru my veins and boom... i was sleeping.. and on only just a few milligrams.. a low dose.

    LuvRVing Member Posts: 2,409

Debbie - I am only getting 6 mg of steroids - a pretty low dose by most standards.  Apparently the Benedryl is standard with Taxol because of its tendency to cause quick and serious allergic reactions.  I haven't said anything to Rick yet, but I would like to walk with my friends next year.  Either I get them out here for the Boston race or I get myself to KC.  I suspect I would have to go.  It would be nice to see some of my other girlfriends, too.   And maybe meet Apple/Mary!

I think for the next treatment, I am going to have Rick leave once they start the premeds, and give him a time to come back and get me.  It would be almost exactly four hours from the start.  It's kind of hard to sleep when you have family in there with you.  We are less than 20 minutes away, he could come home and work, then come and get me.  And maybe I could get a nap.

Hopefully Kay is resting comfortably in ICU.  I believe she'll be there for a couple of days so that the nurses can use dopplar to monitor the blood flow of the transplanted tissue.

    Good night, ladies!

ok.. i could meet you for the walk/run.. i hope.

One of my favorite things about cancer is the chance to take naps.. which I learned about in the infusion room on Benadryl.

Apple - have you ever been to the KC Walk?  It's an amazing scene!  Even if you're not up to walking, you could participate in some of the survivor events and the very short survivor parade.  And if that doesn't work, I could drive to you, meet you somewhere convenient, whatever would work if I get that close!

Michelle- I hope you're continuing to gain strength.  You're one tough cookie!

For lunch I just chopped up some fresh cucumber and tomato from the garden and threw it in a wrap with some dill havarti cheese.  It was awesome.

I've been searching for some new eggplant recipes and found a couple of interesting ones I think I'll try.

Glad everyone is doing well and hopefully resting.  got turned down for my herceptin today due to heart...gonna go for another echo tomorrow and then if ok, infusion.

Funny story.....my daughter is a fashion major and lives in NYC, has loved fashion and clothes since born, and works for a design company....ok....well she sent me a text that she was watching a cooking challenge show, so I asked her if she was learning how to cook ( she doesnt have a clue in the kitchen)  anyway her reply was.."  yeah right, I just figured out I have been wearing my shirt backwards all day and you think I can cook?"   Guess we have to take her back to kindergarten and start over.  That was my giggle for the day.

Made macn cheese for dinner cause thought I would be infused today and dinner would be all set when I got home...oh well...will throw some veggie next to it and call it a day.

Joyce - I sat out and read for a while.  We are going to have dinner outside, then off for a little boat cruise!  Dinner is pork loin with bbq sauce, potatoes on the grill with dill, chives, parsley and rosemary, and waldorf salad.  Rick is cooking the pork right now.

Lena - you got your cottage cheese!!!

Carberry - hope the echo turns out OK, that has to be a little worrisome.  Funny story about your daughter...maybe she is starting a new fashion trend!

Debbie - I haven't had coconut shrimp in forever.  Sounds yummy!  And yes to the summer veggies, we had BLT's for lunch.  I have figured out that my dislike for tomatoes only applies to those anemic things you get in the store or on your restaurant salad in the dead of winter.

Laurie - woohoo on the potty training.  It's like getting a pay raise when you don't have to buy pullups any longer!

Laurie- Missed the comment about your 3 yr old, Yay! You must be thrilled

    Lena- LOL!

Joyce- Hope your evening was nice and quite

Carberry- I hope you are able to have your infusion tomorrow- Funny story about your daughter, I have been known to do that too and wear my shirt inside out or leave a strip on it that tells what size it is LOL!

Michelle-Your boat ride and dinner sounds good- That is awesome that all you have to do is walk out your yard and hop in a boat!

Damn right I got the cottage cheese, Michelle and debbie! LOL! I even bought two containers of it. It goes really well (IMO) with canteloupe. And I can eat the cottage cheese straight out of the container, so no extra dish to wash, only the spoon. ;-)

We're going out for prime rib tonight - to a restaurant we used to go to 20 years ago.  DH is all excited...lol.  I am tired, just spent the day with my mom, took her to the doctor and they are putting her back on Aricept (a good thing).  And we have to move her next week into her own studio apt in the same facility.  The whole roommate thing has turned into a big bust.  Big giant ugh!

Those cod fillet recipes look familiar, except I do it with chicken breasts, add some artichoke hearts and sun-dried tomatoes, a few Greek olives and call it Chicken Carciofi.  One of our favorite little Italian restaurants in Missouri had this on the menu and it was my favorite dish.  Sometimes I'd add in a can of cannelini beans and that made it a complete meal.
