Hello ladies. Just wanted to post because I am very excited that I got to meet Jo today. We had lunch on South Padre Island. It was so nice of her to drive all this way. We could have chatted all afternoon, but I had to get back to work. Thanks Jo for coming over the bridge to see me.
I hope that you all have a spectacular Easter.0 -
Hi All! Seems Ceeztheday beat me to the punch so to speak. What a fabulous time I had with her and DH. They took me to this wonderful bistro on the island and the food was fantastic. It is so nice to be able to sit down and talk with someone else about what we are going through AND the bonus for me is we have the same job so we were able to share some of our "war stories." I took a couple of pictures so everyone can see us at lunch.

Hi all, Haven't been here in a few pages - I was blind for a couple of weeks with some keratitis but getting better and can do my computer job again - but with sunglasses.
The reason I am here is that I wanted to share my "Happy Dance" even though I don't feel happy... Yesterday was my 1 year anniversary of being Cancer-free... I SHOULD be happy - Being my process from finding the cancer-surgery-radiation was so quick, could I be finally grieving? Just need some support today...
Jo, Granny and all my other friends - I need to catch up on the pages but don't have enough time today - back to work and taxes after :-P Love you all and thank you for all your support.. I promise, I will be back soon!

GMA - Big Congrats on the one year cancerversary. You could very well be grieving now. We all do that in our own time. Wish we lived closer - I would come right over to your house and big you one great big hug. (((HUGS)))

(((((Hugs GmaF)))) I think when everything happens quickly it takes longer to process. There is a left over 'what the heck happened!' thing.0

GMA-congrats on your cancerversary and glad your eye is doing better. I go through the grieving process from time to time as well. I think when I finished radiation, I felt an immediate letdown, and now that I don't have as many checkups it gets harder. I have my mammo and MRI in a couple weeks, so I should go through a good cycle if results are good. I think it is the "not knowing" that makes it hard.
Having a wonderful time here with shingles. My neurologist put me on gabapentin and amitriptyline for the pain, and now I feel almost normal. The amitriptiline makes me tired but I think this is starting to subside. I had another outbreak of blisters on my back after I had an allergic reaction to a hotel hot tub on vacation last week(big mistake!), but hopefully it is uphill from here, Just one blister is still hurting.
Hope you all are doing well. Haven't been checking in because I am busy finishing up my coursework for my Masters Degree. A couple more weeks and I am done!!

SusanHG - When do you take your amitriptyline? I was on that for awhile for permanent nerve damage from rads. I found it best to take it at bedtime. It does have a sedative effect so you may want to keep that in mind. I am so sorry your are suffering with shingles. They are terrible and glad to hear you are getting some relief.

Ok, I'm brain dead this morning, but can someone please explain what the swelling under my armpit is again? I know it's been discussed here but I am drawing a blank. I have swelling but not down my arm and there is just slight pain, more like a stiffness or sore muscle. I kinda know that this is normal but when/or should I worry? I'm only out 4 wks post rads. Also I have lost sensation in my nipple. How long does this last?

Hi Joe, I take my amitriptiline at bedtime, and honestly, it is getting better. Just very hard to wake up in the morning. I find it kind of ironic that the same medications given for nerve damage from radiation are the same given for shingles. I'm wondering if the damage to nerves during raidation causes the nerves in the body to be more vulnerable??
Granny-Do you know if the vaccine is just for women over 60? If not, then I will get it! I don't want these blisters to keep coming back!! Shingles is an awful disease. It affects your whole life.
Why don't all cancer patients get the vaccine? That is the big question.
Happy Birthday, Tori!!
