I think anything that would help encourage and support everyone would be what Marybe would like. Like getting the word out about BCO. I found this place by sheer chance. I wish more people knew to come here for information and support, esp. newly dx people.

My DH does not get all moody and sulk when we get into things. He says Yes, Dear then does what I had ask him to do in the first place. I think because he does not want me to start with the waterworks. ;-) he cannot stand to see me upset or crying. He is such a dear man.
My youngest DD used to throw tantrums and hold her breath. When I had had enough of that I picked her up and put her in a cold shower. That stopped all her tantrums really quick, it only took 2 times.
Her daughters whine all the time around her, but not me. I told them that I could not understand them so I would not listen to them until the could talk in a normal manner. Once they figured out they could get anything they wanted from Grammie when she could understand them the whinning stopped and the older 2 have and are passing that along to their younger sisters. It was kind of hard to ignore them, but it is so much better without all the whinning and drama!0 -

wow that is great about the donations for marybe. I'm glad you are feeling lighter 3jays. It was a nice tribute thread.
I had no one to blame but myself when my little shed got filled up, but I had a great time last summer emptying it out. I had gotten a dumpster to clean out my parents house, and saw what a difference it made and how freeing it felt. So I did it for my house too. I got my DS and friend to help with the heavy stuff. Now the trick is to keep the unnecessary stuff out.
I need help deciding about how to get to my appt in the city on Wednesday. There is suppose to be a storm with lots of rain and high winds late Tuesday night into early Wednesday . I am suppose to get on the 6 am boat Wednesday to get to a CT scan by 10 am . Do you think I should go off the night before? I hate how hard it gets to get off island sometimes and that I obsess about this stuff instead of just making a decision and sticking to it.
Chrissy , hope the silent treatment is over and the heavy lifting (not by you) has begun.
Interesting suggestions about what marybe would want done at bco. I hope they give it lots of consideration.0 -
Nancy, i remember how hard decisions about the ferry is: leave Tuesday, before the winds, and stay the night by Boston.. its too imp an appt to miss, esp cause he's going over the results with you that day!(thats my 2 cent, girlfriend...3jays0

Looks I'm headed out today. The friend that was going to go with has to go to a family funeral, so that is up in the air, too. Oh well, I can take the bus or meet up with DS. It will work out just have to not stress about it.

ahhh Chrissy - I read your rant and felt all guilty. My hubby is the neatnik and I'm the one who's got like 40 different "hobbies" and tend to leave my sh*t scattered about. We have this gigantic house, and my stuff has been taking up far more space than it deserves. When last he "commented" upon it I told him that both nature and I abhor a vacuum...
Probably one of the biggest reason we both want a smaller house is so that there isn't so dang much space to fill (and clean)..... I agree about the cold shoulder business though - I've never understood why anyone would want to spend time ignoring someone when it's so much more freeing to yell at 'em.
hahahaha anyway - 'bout the tantrums. My son was the tantrum king. Once he screamed so much that he actually started to turn blue. Finally my mom suggested what she did with my sister when she threw a tantrum. So I tried it. When he started into screaming, I calmly walked over to the sink, got a cup and drew some (just a little) cold water, and threw it in his face. Complete shock. He stopped and never threw another tantrum.

The cold shoulder hubby thing chaps my hide, too. They just act like little kids sometimes.

Wren the cold shoulder doesn't bother me and it's definitely worth getting my sheds cleaned out. DH has Asperges and it's his way of dealing with conflict. I understand him well after 43 years I should and I make allowances for him but sometimes in order to get something through his head I have to blow my stack. It doesn't happen very often...........

Morning all
Just to let you know its back to another anxious wait, wait to get things done and then for results. Had checkup yesterday and onc found small 'something' on my collar bone. He is sure its fimne but justs wants to check it because in his words its very strange. Oh well. If I haven't heard from the hospital by later next week I will see my BS and gether to sort it out. I don't want to wait too long as DH and I areoff the Australia on the 13th Oct - and we are going to visit Chrissy.
Its a very cool spring day here. Must move as I have to pick DD up from the airport.

Hope it's over, PT, and wasn't as bad as you'd feared. And Lisa, the waiting is so hard. We'll all wait with and be hoping for good results.
Alyson, hope the small something is actually nothing, and hope you can get an answer soon! Maybe Chrissy and her DH will be talking again by your visit!
Just kidding you a little, Chrissy. My DH sulks and gives me the silent treatment sometimes too. I admit I'm pretty good at the silent treatment myself, but I really excel at stomping around the house!

It wasn't too bad. Dr wanted to know if I wanted the three inch nails? At first I thought why? and then I said sure. I'll have my son design something in jewelry to remind me not to be so klutzy. Then I went to the ENT who wanted to know how my hearing aid was working out.He reccommended after severe loss of hearing in one ear after fall. I said I don't think I need it> He said okay lets recheck your hearing. Vast improvement although still some loss. He said "i"ve never have encountered this. I am glad you declined surgery. I want to see you in six months and recheck but I agree you don't need aids at this time." Happy dance for this. 0

I'm bad with the cold shoulder, it was my mothers favorite.. and she held grudges, also.. so i yell and scream, then e responds..

PTDreamer does your Dr think the hearing loss was from the chemo? It is just such great news.
Wren that is so funny! I would trade silence for DH to get all the household crap out of my sewing room that never should have gone there in the first place!

OK, it seems I missed something - PT, what cast was that? Or did I actually know it, comment on it, and store it in the never-never land of chemobrain? Anyway, it sounds like it wasn't too traumatic having it removed so that's a good thing.
My kids are WONDERFUL. We recently had our New Year's holiday (Rosh Hashana) which is a 2-day holiday. So a 2-day holiday means 4 big meals, and they did ALL the cooking. They made chicken, meatballs, rice, potatoes, stringbeans, sweet potato and butternut squash casserole, a turkey dish, and chicken cutlets. They also made yeast cake, choc chip cookies, and choc balls. We have a custom of eating things with honey on Rosh Hashana to symbolize a sweet year so before my surgery I made honeycake and froze it, but that was my sole contribution. I lost 6 pounds while I was in the hospital (yeah, hospital food is a great diet since it's close to inedible) but now I don't want to get on the scale!

Leah lol....... I hear you girl. I lost all that weight before my knee op and I was looking pretty trim. For some reason.......or maybe I know the reason but just won't tell..... Lol.... I'm not feeling quite so trim so I went shopping today and stocked up on the real good stuff with a few treats thrown in. Oh my but I like my diet!

Wow I didn't know you could suffer hearing loss from a fall. I am so happy for you that you are regaining your hearing. Having the pins out is super too. I hope it all just keeps on improving day by day.

You can suffer hearing loss from a lot of things including general anaesthetic like I did after my knee replacement. For a month after the op I was totally deaf in my left ear then gradually it has come back but I am left with tinnitus as well as permanent loss of the upper and lower registers. Bit of a shame really as I had perfect 20/20 hearing before that.

I didn't know your hearing could be affected by an anaesthetic...well, you learn something every day ! Trouble is nowadays I can't quite retain what I learn. Way back memory AOK, but what I did yesterday is hard to recollect.
Been quietly sewing over the last week or so....my behind is getting corns on it from all the sitting infront of my machine. When I come downstairs on an evening to watch some TV or read the papers I have some hand sewing with me to do. As I am finding it a chore trying to get around the shops now I order on the net. I've had some trousers which usually need 3"-4" chopping off, and some shirts which I also lop around 2" off delivered this last week or two....have to alter before I can wear.
Talking about DHs tantrums Chrissy, I hope yours has cooled down now. My DH would drive me to distraction with his untidiness, and tantrums if I pulled him on it. He would come into my tool boxes when I wasn't looking, take what he wanted, then just dump them wherever he'd been working with them. I would regularly almost trip up over a pile of MY tools going rusty in the long grass, just left, and forgotten. We would have spectacular arguments over this....then the silent treatment for a week or so. Trouble was it was "all my fault, I was possessive about my things" "Wouldn't share anything" !!! I like to know exactly where my tools are, just need to be able to put my hand out and pick up the exact tool I need at that moment and use it. NOT go into my tool box, and find, yet again, there wasn't one pair of pliers in there...and then have to go off and find DH and ask ''where are my pliers" get the reply he hadn't had them, and I must have forgotten where I'd left them...then go find them on the floor of DHs garage.
I remember one day I was beyond mad at him, something I needed had gone missing, he denied all knowledge, as usual. I found whatever it was I'd wanted in his truck, after getting more and more angry wandering all around the place looking for something that should have been in the house. I went into his garage and smashed 3 or 4 bottles of nails all over the floor, and whipped into the house innocently !!! When he came in rampaging at me I just said, exactly as he'd said to me, so many times " It wasn't me, I didn't do it, I don't know" !!!!!! I blamed the cats !!! Then I endured the silent treatment for ages ! After that I got a lock fixed on the little room I used to keep all my tools in, he was as mad as hell , but couldn't get in without me knowing !
Thinking of all of you who are waiting for results...glad you're back home Leah, and pleased the kids came up trumps on the cooking front.
