WildT, yes it was good you didn't give her today's dose. It can take roughly 2 weeks before Zithromax is completely cleared from her system so the rash might linger at least that long. As long as the rash doesn't get worse, I wouldn't worry.

Sensi and JunieB, best wishes tomorrow.

Susan, DD is doing better. She might swim for the school (depends on the cuts) which is a good distraction for her. Hopefully, she will learn to manage her time and balance her schedule. Hard to grow when you are too comfortable at home. I need to remind myself that she needs to develop strength in her wings so she can fly. We are driving down there again this 3 day weekend to visit her. Most of the people she met will go home for the weekend. We might need to temporary adopt one of her friends whose family is from Chicago.

Shepk, Mitzy seems to do better. Dd2 tries to give her more attention and keeps her occupied.

Hey, Sensi. Completely understand. You need rest, but if you are up for lunch we can come to pick you up and take you to wherever you feel like going. Thanks for letting us know about Lori.

Ms.Wren, I think I need to get a red plate for myself too. I think I have gained 8 pounds since dx. There is no way my implants weigh that much.

Well, love you all, came here about 8:30 checked housekeeping threads and got into the fray. Been pontificating ever since.

    https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/73/topics/847566?page=1#idx_20

Anyone whose been pissed off about their drugs and the damage drugs do, and the stupidity that attitude can make a difference. Please, post I've pushed hard on the Mods to take a main post item off from a newly published German study.

Attitude about getting through all this does make a difference, I'm not clueless to that. But this stupid German study is going to be trouble for years and years. You will understand when you read the two threads.

Sensi, OUCH!! How long does it take to complete? Hope tomorrow isn't too bad.

Newest one of Evie. Her mom posted a video of her. I'll have to try to load it from my computer, doesn't work for my iPad

I'm here from Aussieland. I suffer from insomnia which only started happening 2 years ago when diagnosed with mets to the bones. By the way do you all know of F.lux on your computer. One of the worst things to keep you awake at night is staring at the computer/TV/lighting with all the blue light that emanates from them. This blue light prevents the melatonin in your brain from activiting your sleep especially when it starts to get dark. The brain gets confused. So download it, activate it on your puter when it starts to get dark, get a pair of orange glasses on Ebay and watch TV with them on. Watch TV in the dark. Sounds a bit extreme but if you really want to add some more sleep to your routine but still watch your TV or puter while that is happening, it may work for you. Works for me.

Hi friends- super busy with work this week, vendor on site for three days and leaving tomorrow. Leaving early tomorrow after I wrap up with my client from the vendor visit and going to exercise and then do some phone bank work for a political campaign.

Sassy- well that article is certainly disappointing. How often are we women told things are "in our head" or not as bad as we think. My male provider told me women have a whole range of symptoms from the AIs from nothing to all kind of quality of life issues. I still really wonder how much these drugs do to our hearts.

Loverly- balloons go up here year round, but more of them come with the cooler fall weather. I have been seeing them launch on the way to work the past couple mornings.

Smarty- that Evie is a cutie pie

Sensitive- you hang in there girlfriend and push through that second infusion. I can tell you have spunk by that photo and will get through this.

Wildtulip- your DD is on the mend and back in school. Good to hear.

Gotta get to bed. Tomorrow is an early morning.

There is a cashier at our locally owned drug store chain who is getting chemo for something. She's 50-60 years old with white hair and just leaves any head covering off. I really admire her for working when she's able and letting the fuzz be itself. Has a great smile.

Sensi, you don't have a port? How many total chemo treatments are you getting? I swear, all I did the entire time was sleep. I know I must have fed my kids and stuff, but all I remember doing is sleeping. My DS grew so much last summer that I joke that he grew while I slept.

Loverly, it sounds like you have some experience with Zithromax reactions! That's great that you are going to visit DD this weekend. I'm sure it will be good for all of you as you adjust through this transition.

Junie, Wow..15 days! I'm glad you are being cautious.

Jazzy, I hope you get a chance to catch your breath soon.

This afternoon my DS had ENT appointment for enlarged tonsils. I noticed this AM that both actually looked enlarged and the Dr confirmed this. He said several things..they don't do anything about enlarged tonsils unless it's affecting breathing or unless there are 4+ infections per year. He asked me if DS snored and I told him I didn't think so, but I'm often sleeping when he is, so my assignment is to sit in his room a few times for 10-20 minutes and monitor his sleep. As far as the asymmetrical aspect, he said everyone's tonsils are asymmetrical..they are positioned different and if you take them out each one weighs different. The Dr said that if DS was an older man who had drank and smoked for 20 yrs, he would be concerned about cancer, given the enlarged tonsils, but that DS has less than 5% chance. We will go back again mid-October and go from there.

Tomorrow my mom is having minor surgery (eyes), so I'm not working tomorrow or Fri. The sandwich generation! Friday I also have my monthly zolodex shot and my TE fills. So happy it's a long weekend!!!

    Sweet dreams, everyone.

Sensi - Despite being in the middle of your infusion in the pic, you look great. Hope the SE's are minimal.

My injections went well today, but my ANC did not bounce back like it should have. After a week off, it was only 1.14. It was at 1.13 on day 15 of 21 of the Ibrance. So instead of having bloodwork monthly, I'll be having it every 2 weeks. Yeah! more needle pokes :0(

But on the bright side, I spoke to the Cairn breeder today and she said that the mating between her dogs Tyson & Bonny took place 2 weeks ago, so considering gestation is 9 weeks, that leaves 7 more to find out if she's gonna have any male puppies. Then 8-10 weeks to get him. Waiting is so challenging. Then I remind myself of the potty training, chewing, etc. that I'll get to re-experience. Oh well, it doesn't last forever.

Shep - Love your little pic of the racoon peeking through the fence. Oh yeah, how is your tummy doing?

Jazzy - Hope the rest of your week goes well and you get a good rest for the holiday weekend.

Loverly - How's your DD doing at college? Cool idea for the window washers to dress up like that. I bet the kids were all kinds of excited to see them.

Wren - that is an interesting theory on the red plate. I should give it a try too.

Smaarty - As always, Evie is a cutie patootie.

WildT - Glad your DD is doing better. Hope the benadryl helps the rash.

Well I will call it a night and wish you all a restful nights sleep. Until next time Ladies!

Sensi, I loved my port so much I kept it after chemo, and so glad I did. My veins would collapse with every access. With blood draws every month or so, it has come in handy.

There was a great site I found for scarves, seemed like it was for Orthodox Jewish women. Here's one I particularly liked:

    image

The scarf is a long rectangle with fringe; start it way off center and twist the long end and drape it over the crown and around the back and tie in a knot. This was my favorite scarf, a friend gave it to me when I started chemo.

My Rose has been at the vets the past three days with some kind of tummy issue they have not yet identified. She was badly constipated and the last stool we found had a bit of blood so we were concerned. Hopefully she can come home tonight; life is just not right without her. She's the dog of my heart.

Jaw pain is insane from this faslodex tx. Pain is least in the morning when I wake up but I have to slather on the benzocaine (20%) before I even have coffee. And every hour or so thereafter, especially before I try to eat anything. The pain pills help it if I take them before the pain hits but I can only have 4 a day. If the pain hits first I have to drench my gums with the benzocaine several times before I have any relief. Oh well, could be worse.

Saarty and Lover-thank you for the well wishes on the infusion. They have been taking between 4-5 hours. Especially since my veins acted up yesterday.  As far as lunch goes, I'm going to have to say no for tomorrow.  I was planning on trying to join you if I felt up to it, but found out family is coming thru town.  I only get to see them 1 or 2 times a year, so if I'm feeling good, I'm going to try and meet up with them, since you ladies are local. ;)

Jazzy-yes....spunk and humor are getting me thru this and all you great ladies

Tulip-no port. only 4 rounds and MO said we'd just start with the veins to avoid the extra surgery of putting port in.  I try and hydrate and been drinking about 71oz of water a day, but the veins were stubborn yesterday.  1st round they got me the first time ;). Glad to hear your DS appointment went fairly well, and the doc wasn't concerned about any cancer worries.  Were you able to sit in and listen to him sleep at all?

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Hi you lovely folks, I've been on since shortly after 9am. All housekeeping stuff, my first visit here. Pee breaks only. That's a familiar nursing story. Look if someone needs help on something PM.

Loverly need your help. I know Thursday is a usual work day, but there is a gal on the STEAM thread that has a problem. I didn't identify you as a source, just said I knew a gal. You will see her post and my post on this link.

Patty, I have been here since near 9am and the first post that I see on this thread is you saying thank you. You are blessed. Been trying to get here all day. Made one fly bye post to ask Loverly to check in on another thread. Now 1:40 am the next day. Didn't eat today. Was focused. Chit, I should consider hunger? OH , Chocolate is in the can.

How ya doing baby? I backed off Fb b/c it was making me crazy. I took a break from lot's of everything except swimming. Now we have this (*^$# weather disturbance. Donnie, is between jobs and doing lot's of work around the house. Essex is lovely. Hope Duke and the kids are great. I love Duke's name. It's such a strong name. Not sure why I think it's a strong name. but it is. Gal, Love you. Thank you for sharing a life minute..........I have started the life minute thought recently. i.e "do I waste a life minute on reading this". Very helpful, to a reading addict.

Patty, if you guys want a place to come to for a diversion. You can come anytime. Steve's getting married in Feb. But that's in Tampa. EVEN at Christmas, I am so flexible, just need a wee bit of notice. Love you sweetie

Ms. Sas, you need to take care of yourself. I dropped a post for Nay per your request:) . Poor lady.

Sensi, love the pic of you making a silly face. Plenty of time in the future for lunch. You made a good choice :)

JunieB, DD is doing better. Thank you for asking. We are driving to LA to visit her this 3 day weekend. Not looking forward to the drive, but looking forward to seeing her. I was told by a friend I don't need to cut the cord, but I can extend it. So I am. Hah! I know eventually I will need to let her fly.

Ms. S, I always smile when I see a photo of Evie. Oh, Susan, and of course of Elena too.

WildT, glad to hear ENT doc was not too concerned of DS' asymmetric tonsils.

Patty, is Chatty Patty back? Hope so.

Mags, you look awesome with that scarf.

Jazzy, hope you have a relaxing weekend.

Kath and Eeyore, I took your advice and talked to Dad over the weekend. Thank you! Boy, did I learn quite a bit about man's deceptive heart. Dad is an honest man so he often assumes others are the same. Very sad for him. I will share some day.

Good friday morning all! What a nice group of gals, glad to see the infusions went well this week for those having them.

Love how you look in that scarf Mag ... needed your instructions when I went through chemo. I could never get it to look good so ended up throwing on a hat and feeling like a little boy. I'm not a hat person.

Currently I'm at the plastic surgeon consult stage if anyone has advice about that. To recon now or later or at all, ugh such decisions. I've had previous radiation so that is complicating things.

I hear its a 3 day weekend, hope everyone gets to do something they enjoy!

Oh I've been back a few times ladies but reading and reading and not posting! I thank you so much for the warm welcome and deeming me quirky enough, I'm flattered.

Can you tell Im on the recon/plastic surgeon research path - first thought when I saw the caveman was flap surgery!! I'm not kidding.

JeanQ, Hi! I may be able to answer some PS questions. I was interviewing/researching just a year ago, and began my reconstruction (delayed, had radiation too) this summer. Ask away...

I will catch up again later. Thinking of you all!!

Thanks for the compliments about the scarf; remember that was 2 years ago. We had some group pictures take last weekend in Branson and it hurts to look at them. I look really sick, tired, and in pain.

This jaw pain makes me want to scream, or cry. Doc has raised my pain pills and had me add in ibuprofen but I'm getting no relief yet

  • PattyPeppermint
    PattyPeppermint Member Posts: 8,950

mags. Have you looked around the stage IV threads much ? There is a lot of good info and support there. You may have looked worn in Branson but hey I am excited you got to go.

Lovely. Casual Friday. Too funny. You always post the best pics. Wherever do you find them all. I like the idea of extending the cord. Much love sent to you. Be safe and have fun this weekend

Sas. Ah ha so there you are you sure stay busy on here but you got to eat. Glad Essex is treating you well. Me too!!! Wonderful without so much back pain and the dullness of pain meds. I would love to get to hang with you. I imagine lots of laughter. Are you involved much in the planning of steves wedding ? Duke is just his Nick name. His mom said wile she carried him he would kick so very hard try started calling him Duke. He is a strong wonderful man. Course I am biased. What is the weather like where you are at ? Not sure if you are close to the ocean ? My mom lived in Vero Beach ,FL when I was growing up so we would visit but never experienced a hurricane. Tornados are scary enough. Love ya bunches.

Hugs to all. Be safe this holiday weekend. Make good memories

    Hootie hoo

Thanks Wildtulip! I will have the BMX later this month. Had radiation & lumpectomy in 2012. At first my docs were all telling me how great it was that I could have recon at the same time as the BMX, kind of like a consolation prize. But then the Plastic Surgeon gave me sad stats on the success of immediate reconstruction on a radiated breast. Had a second opinion with another PS and now am leaning toward just the BMX, healing for a few months then considering recon. Your thoughts and experience would be helpful. Although it would be nice to have just one operation the odds of complications with immediate recon worry me. I never thought I'd think this but am leaning toward the Lflap after hearing about it from the PS yesterday. If I only go with a B cup he thinks we can do direct implant without expanders which sounds good to me.

Lesley, thanks for the tip about blue light.

I have read thru the thread, and am saying hello to all

SAS, I love seeing your dishes. I too love flea markets, their treasures and the thrill of a good find. I like the 4 mantra sayings too, need to commit to memory.
