Shep - I'll certainly share those recipes with you. In regards to my making cupcakes for the MO's office, it occurred to me over the weekend that there are a lot of people with peanut allergies & I probably shouldn't make the peanut butter frosting. So, instead I'll make the chocolate/mocha/sour cream frosting instead.

I need to go and make my shopping list for the ingredients I still need to get.

Now I'm off to make breakfast and have my second cup of coffee.

I talked to SAS and she is doing well. Just taking a break as someone said previously. I think she was happy to have someone check on her. We all like to know we make a difference and am missed. Encouraging those who are close to her to pm her. Not sure she us checking pm's now but am sure she will be happy to see them whenever she logs back in.

WildT - I seem to remember that you bake gluten-free, so here is a delicious recipe for some mini muffins.

Lime & Avocado Streusel Mini Muffins

Start to finish 30 mins. Makes 24 mini muffins.

    For the muffins

    1/2 of a medium avocado, peeled & pitted . . . . . (about a 1/4 cup fresh)

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temp.

    2/3 cup sugar

    1 tsp. lime zest

1 tsp. vanilla extract, not imitation

    2 eggs, room temp.

3/4 cup gluten-free flour or whole wheat pastry flour

1/2 cup of Almond meal (finely ground almonds)

    1/4 cup coconut flour

    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder

    1/4 tsp. baking soda

    1/4 tsp. salt

    1/4 cup buttermilk

1/4 cup of fresh squeezed lime juice

    1/4 cup of applesauce

    For the Streusel

    1 tablespoon of unsalted butter

    2 tablespoons packed brown sugar

2 tablespoons flour (gluten-free or whole wheat pastry)

    1/8 tsp. salt

    Directions

    1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 24 count mini muffin pan with mini muffin paper liners.

    2. Cream together the avocado, butter & sugar until pale & fluffy, about 2 minutes.

    3. Mix in the zest and vanilla.

    4. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing until incorporated after each.

    Set aside avocado mixture.

    5. In a medium bowl, sift together flour, almond meal, coconut flour, baking powder & baking soda.

If the almond meal is too coarse to pass through the sifter, whisk it into the flours to ensure even blending.

    6. In a small bowl or measuring cup, stir together buttermilk, lime juice & applesauce.

    7. Add flour mixture and buttermilk half at a time, blending on low until completely incorporated.

    8. Spoon batter into paper muffin liners.

    9. Use fork to mix streusel ingredients.

    10. Spoon a small amount of streusel on top of each muffin, then bake until the muffins are turning golden and spring back when touched lightly, 15 - 18 min.

    Enjoy, once cooled!

Hi friends, I logged on with the intent to catch up and post, but no energy so decided I'll keep this short and catch up tomorrow, hopefully. I haven't slept well the last few nights because of fill on Fri and my SE aches (despite muscle relaxer). Thanks for the recipes and virtual hugs and thoughts. More later..love and hugs to all.

    Loverly- great news!

Mags- that is hilarious, laughing my butt off over here. Thirsty over here too!

Balloons from this morning. The yellow one seemed dangerously close to the power lines but nothing bad happened.

Susan - Please post a pic of the knitted dress & hat. I love to see what other knitters & quilters are doing. Sorry your tummy feels like a boxing ring gone amuck.

Jazzy - Aren't those balloons associated with some celebration in New Mexico this time of year? It seems like I heard that on Jeopardy this evening.

WildT - Sorry you haven't slept well recently. I hope tonight will be better. I'm looking forward to hearing your thought on the Lime/Avocado muffin recipe.

Loverly - How are you feeling today? Glad that your mammo result were good. If your DH has a sweet tooth, maybe you'll wanna make a double batch.

Hi Mags. I hope you get some relief for your mouth pain. Do you have an appt. yet for the oral surgeon?

I lol at the bunny who is outta carrots and ready to kick some a_ _.

Shep - Until you asked, I hadn't considered having my thumb done again, but it is definitely worth thinking about. Was today any better for you?

Does anyone here get a bit annoyed in October with all the happy pink, pink, pink promoters! Or is it me? All types of cancer need the same amount of promotion and research.

PattyP - I was going to call Sassy today and got side-tracked and forgot to do it. Will make it a priority tomorrow.

    Good night Ladies!

Jazzy so funny that we happened to see a balloon from our backgarden recently.

Ours was further off though, yours was wow!

    Still not an everyday sight...

Jazzygirl - I think I found the answer to my question and wanted to share it here in case anyone else is curious.

Each year in October in Albuquerque, New Mexico hundreds of balloons are sent into the sky—hot-air balloons that is. The fiesta, as it's come to be known, lasts nine days and draws hot-air balloon professionals and onlookers alike. It all started in 1972 as a celebration of a local radio station's 50th birthday. Today, the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta has become a massive gathering of gigantic colors over the desert landscape. It remains the world's largest hot-air balloon festival and has shed light on the unique culture of the American Southwest.

Good morning friends- JazzyJ is right, this is the time of year for the International Balloon Fiesta. The largest hot air balloon in the world and it draws people from all over the world. Close to a million people visit the event over the 10 day period.

The balloons you saw from yesterday were in my neighborhood, however, my client site is literally right next to the park. I am going in a bit early before my meetings to snap some photos and will continue to share anything interesting there.

Feeling- how cool you have balloons in Ireland. They are cool to see, yes? We never get tired of it here.

Wildtulip- hope you are feeling better. Those SEs can really be bothersome. Wishing you better sleep.

    Wishing everyone a good day!

Mags, you are stuck in the wine aisle too?

Susan, i know what you mean regarding GI issues. It has a mind of its own. You have boxer; I have opera singer. Yes, very noisy and lousy( have to add that in just in case our dear friend Queenie is reading) opera singer. You are blessed DH is a cook. Soup is good anytime.

WildT, how are you doing? Was the recent fill your last? My last was only 25cc. That is less than 2 tablespoons! I was in pain for nearly a week. Hope you are at peace with whatever choice you make.

ShepK, no wonder you haven't been as mischievous. Well, maybe a little bit on Patty's thread. You hardly complain about your ailment, not that it is wrong to rant. When you are quiet, it's usually not a good sign. Here praying and hoping your pain is only temporary. Gentle hugs.

Jazzy, looking forward to seeing what you captured.

JunieB, I think my body ache was from the weather. We had rain on both Sunday and Monday. When I had my girls, mom would nag at me for not keeping myself warm. She told me that the "wind" will get into my pores and will cause headache and body aches when I get older, especially when the weather changes. The same concept applies to post surgery. Now I wonder if she knew what she was talking about.

I managed to lock myself out of the house before our walk this evening. I was on the phone with DD. Didn't realize I went outside without Mitzy's leash until I closed the garage. Got distracted and punched in the wrong code several times. After 3 attempts, the security pad automatically locks up. While I was busy trying to get back in, Mitzy took the opportunity to rub her face in the wet grassShocked That little brat! Good thing I caught her before she rolled her whole body. YUCK!

Hi everyone! Finally caught up on the last few days.

Jazzy, I'm glad you enjoyed your massage and got your feet pampered before you abuse them in NY next week! I've never really liked to have my feet rubbed, and I still have neuropathy in my toes, so it feels odd for them to be touched. I'll leave to foot massages to you! Love the balloon pics!!

Loverly, I am amazed that you got your mammo results right away, but so happy for you! Stinks your body reacts to the weather. Did you have to wait a while to try the garage code again, or did you have to have someone rescue you? I hope you had a good talk with DD. Yes, my boobs have felt like rocks for a while now. I only got 25cc last Friday, and 25cc the one before. (I had been doing 50cc). I'm going to live with my current size a couple of weeks, but yes, I think I'm done. It's hard because lefty turned and is vertical, so I look horrible to me. PS said to just look at righty when I'm thinking about size. I tried on various shirts over the weekend, to get a better idea of my size. At this point I just want to be symmetrical!

Junie, Thank you so much for sharing recipes! So kind of you to take the time. I don't typically bake gluten free, but I could..I know someone who is gluten free. A couple of weeks ago I baked Vegan cookies for a niece, so that's probably what you are thinking about. The Lime and Avocado muffins sound good! Saving both recipes to try when I can. Oh, and yes, all the pinktober stuff annoys me too.

    Smaarty, Nice pictures!

Shep, Good you have your injection coming up Thursday. I think mine took about a day before it felt better. Thanks for the hugs. Yes, I got some rest last night. I hope you had a better day today with your back. Stinks when you have stuff going on and you don't know the cause, so hard to pinpoint what to change to feel good.

Mags, I can't imagine the pain you are in with the lost tooth and mouth pain. I hope you can get repairs soon!

Susan, thanks for the well wishes.

I did sleep well last night, and took an hour nap this afternoon. It felt good at the time, but now up too late and have to be up too early. Physically I felt better over all today. Tomorrow I have my 3 month check up with MO and I have a LONG list of things to discuss with him. I baked tonight though, so he can snack while I fire questions at him. I made a recipe for Oatmeal choc chip cookies, but made them into bars. I was also motivated by wanting to send some to a niece. Tried to save time by putting in a pan, but the middle wasn't quite done. Really not my best work, but got enough out of the batch to go around. That's what I get for trying something new and trying to rush.

Funny story about today...I was called to work at the high school, which is where my kids are. I haven't been there yet this year, so was excited to see how well they navigated the lunch room. The HS has 5 different stations, plus a salad bar! So, I got the kids off to school, and then went there myself. Just before 10 am, as food is being prepared, the power went out in the school. The supervisor talked with the director of our department and the school principal throughout the next hour. The power company was saying it could take 1-3 hours to restore. Since the first lunch is at 11:10 and we would still need time to cook food, around 11 the principal made the decision to cancel school for the rest of the day. Just as we finished cleaning up, about 11:15, the power came back on, but by that time buses had been called and kids were being dismissed. It would have taken us a long time to get lunch up and running anyway. So, I got to walk down the hall, grab my kids, and go home and make lunch. I'm really grateful I happened to be at the HS because if I was at a different school and I got the call that the kids were being released early, I would have had to bail out to be with my kids.

Ugh..can't believe how late it is. I'm going to be so sleepy tomorrow!

Loverly - Yikes! We have the electronic keypad locks too. How long did it take to unlock? What an awful feeling to be locked out of the house. We also have an "emergency" key in a lock-box by the door. It has a combination lock on it. It's been so long since it was used....none of us remembers the code! Guess it's good that we have the pony size doggie door out back 😛

Poor Mitzy - she NEEDS to roll in the grass......unless that's what she is allergic to. How has her skin been?

For all our modern ways, our bodies are still so primitive. I wonder what purpose it served in the cave man days to have aches and pains with weather changes?

Lotsa (((hugs))) back at you lovely Loverly for "hearing" me when I'm quiet 💗

WildT - Cool how the day worked out so you and your kids were together and got to go home early. That cafeteria sounds huge! It must have been so crazy trying to get things done without electricity. As for pain, mine is aggravating but dealable. I don't have anyone depending on me and typically don't need to be anywhere. I can't imagine working, raising kids and running a household while having treatments and surgeries and such. Much admiration for you 🌷 Hope your fillings even out and that those "rocks" aren't painful 🙁 In your pocket for MO tomorrow. I'll try to behave and not nibble on too many of those cookie bars you're bringing. Hope you can get another good night of restful sleep 😴💤

Mags - I thought I recognized you in the wine aisle! Best apartment ever, lol! I'll sneak over to the bakery and snag us some angel food cake and Napoleon pastries - nice n' soft for your mouth - those will be so yummy with my Boone's Farm wine. (yes, I am a connoisseur) The legal people handling my surgical oops sent me "get well" flowers last week. The roses in the arrangement are the prettiest color....not quite purple, sort of a dusty mauve. They made me think of your lovely rose pics that you've shared. Any thoughts on what type they might be? I'd love to try to find some to plant in the yard. Hope the new pain med gives you some relief and that you can get in with a good oral surgeon soon. (((hugs))) 🌹

Sassy - Thinking of you and hoping that Matthew keeps turning east and goes way, way out to sea 💜

Feline - I much prefer your far away balloon to Jazzy's oh-so-close balloon. Low flying objects give me the heebie-jeebies!

JunieB - I HATE the pink gah-bahge! Check out the Pinktober Revolution Thread

Patty - Thanks for updating us on Sas. Hope your getting sprung soon. Don't forget your big girl panties when you do 😛

    Love & hugs to all!

Finally done with my second writing project for my class and started to move into the work assigned for next week. Have another writing project to start on next week. Had to pick a topic that was controversial and so after much hair pulling out and driving myself crazy in looking at various topics I settled on one. Have to do a 250 word journal entry on why I chose the topic for my paper for next week, so I will start that later after getting one last house chore done and then the assigned readings for my class.

This morning's mass ascension was spectacular! The cool air and the box winds made for quite a show. There were hundreds in the air today. Lots more close up photos coming but at work right now so cannot do anything with them until later. You will be in for a treat!

Jazzy - What an awesome sight! You are so fortunate to live right there.

Shep - It appears that I've missed something. The "Legal" people handling your surgical Oops? What surgical Oops? I sure hope it's not related to your recent procedure!

Susan - It sure does feel good to get those tasks done. Helps to make you feel freer.

    Hi there Feline!

Also, before I forget, (like I could), puppies are due October 15-18 approx. So hoping for a couple boys.

Shep, thanks for riding along today. Did you feel the curve ball the MO threw at me?! See below. The color of that rose is amazing!

Susan, I SO wish you and hubby would come purge my house. Much needed! I bet it feels good.

Mommy, what did you decide on for your controversial topic?

    Jazzy, that looks SO cool!

Junie, I hope you get the boy you are hoping for.

I know I've been complaining about my pain a lot lately..sorry. I can't remember, though, how much detail I posted. I had a check up with MO this morning and I went through a day in the life. I said I wake during the night with bad pain in my hands just trying to grab a blanket to pull it up. In the morning my fingers are stiff and painful, but they feel better at time goes on, but then worse with some activities. I told him my feet are creaky first thing in the AM, then feel better, but then at times I have so much pain that I end up limping through my day. I told him it often feels like I'm walking on a bed of rocks..hard and sharp and I'm worried about being able to do my job. After hearing this, my MO has decided to take me off my Aromasin and Zolodex for two months and then I'll see him again. I suggested supplements to him, but he didn't feel they would help me with my symptoms being so severe. And I'm not going to take pain meds every day for 5 years (we both agree on this). If my pain is better, he will likely put me back on Tamoxifen. I feel like a failure. He proposed this combined hormone treatment to me in Feb and said it would give me the best odds, and now I may be going backwards. I really expected that we would come up with a plan to try to make my treatment work, and being taken off the meds is scary. It will take 2 weeks - 2 months for the meds to get out of my system, so I guess time will tell.

Going to try to sleep. Hugs to all!
