Mommy- good luck with your paper. If ACA goes away, I will loose any of my insurance. Might be worth talking about what insurance means to cancer patients too?

Thanks Wren, so true. I have some small pillows from my last BC adventure. Thought I'd never need this stuff again but kept it to share with someone. Glad to have it now. Thanks for all the well wishes, will check in when I'm home probably Saturday.

Susan I understand the laid down and cant get up. Did that after a C-section years ago, laid on the waterbed and was stuck. Oh how fun it was having a waterbed though, the next generation has grown up and never been on one I guess.

Smaarty thank you so much for the pillow offer. !! We are nearly neighbors if you are from Sac - I'm near Elk Grove. Thanks for being in my pocket. Off to dreamland soon, have to check in at 5:30 a.m.

M0mmyof2 - I couldn't get insurance because of my health history. Fortunately I moved to a state that had a program for the 'uninsurable.' It was expensive. The program was discontinued when ACA took effect. My insurance now is better and it costs us less. I know I am lucky to even afford what I have. Without it . . . not sure how we would handle the expense of cancer (& other) treatment. I realize this is the opposite of what you are writing about, so it isn't helping you with your paper, but wanted to share my experience. I hope you feel good about your writing and get a great grade.

Loverly. That's a long time congrats. We've been together since '91. 25 years but married 22. Amazing. Iweve been together longer than I was alive before him. I was 20 when we met. Feels like I had no life without him. Not sure we have any plans yet. He has a custoner pushing him to finish a job so he has been working a lot lately. Well he actually works a lot all the time but even pushing harder now. Probably wait 2 weeks or so before doing anything really. Iam ok with that

imageLover...rash area is ok. Still not sure if it was from weeds, bug or chemo. Let MO know about it and will see her on Tues. Last chemo is on Wednesday!

Sending positive thoughts/prayers for any and all in the path of the hurricane.

    Hope everyone else is well

Ok, doggie talk time. JunieB and ShepK, thank you for being a momma to Mitzy indirectly. ShepK, what parasitic infection are you thinking of? Vet did not think it was mange. Said that the last time he saw mange infection was on a piglet brought over from another state . Not a common problem in our area. Per vet, the fact that Mitzy responded to Apoquel indicates that she has allergies. No preservatives in her food. She is down to just potato and bison formula dog food with occasional apples, sweet potato or yam as treats. I have been given her Ark Natural Omega Mender for her dry flaky skin which seems to help a bit. Just started her on Vetri Science Cell Advance, a supplement to help her with immune system. Can you tell I am desperate? Hah! Good thing I have a job. Regarding floor cleaners, just researched and found out Bona has isothiazolinone, a preservative that can cause dermatitis in human. Darn! Back to vinegar and water to clean my floors.

As for her bed, there is a cotton cover that I wash every time I give her a bath (every 10-14 days). I wonder about the stuffings and the polyester material cover.

So sad about Pepper Ann, JunieB. I can understand why having a female dog might remind you of the terrible memory.

WildT, I hope you feel better today than yesterday. Jazzy is right. It's the drug companies that failus. Who wouldn't want the best defense against recurrence, but not at the cost of quality of life. We metabolize drugs differently. Wonder if another AI would give you manageable side effects. Maybe taking it with Neurontin might help with the pain. Will try and see if I can pick the brain of the oncologist who goes to our church. Very nice guy.

Sensi, that rash looks much better. Not that I know anythingLoopy. YAY to last chemo next Wednesday!! We should go out to lunch to celebrate after you recover, of course. I am sure Ms. S would love to get together.

Patty, DH and I have been together since '91 also. He was the most persistent of all the guys. Hah! I was really shy. Hey, we are around the same age.

Jean ~ Hopping in your pocket too! You'll know I'm there - I'm the "quiet" one that behaves. Loverly squirms and blames it on JunieB. May all go well for your surgery. Hope you have a comfy and fast recovery! And yes, so sad to think of the kids today who will grow up with out ever having the thrill of getting stuck in a waterbed 🙂

JunieB ~ Poor Pepper Ann.......horrible, horrible. Nothing bad should ever happen to our luvies. Your heart has been longing for a pup for so long, that is why the nightmare 😟 Just look at happy puppy pics before bedtime and push those bad dreams away! It's bad when you're happy about the SEs you have......and you have friends that totally understand. "Normal" folks are such wussies! I do hope your hair stops shedding. How much longer will you be doing the Ibrance + Faslodex? Why can't any of these meds make the hair we don't want fall out? I do adore you Miss Junie, however the pictures floating around in my mind of Cairn hair wigs are really creeping me out 😳

Patty!!!! Home with your boys, a big anniversary and your birthday....Hurray!

Loverly ~ OMD, my hand is killllling me to type. Short advice.....definitely stop using the floor care product. And stop bathing Mitzy so often. I know you like her to be clean but once or twice a year is really all she needs. Mitzy's skin produces it's own protective oils that get stripped away with even mild shampoo. Unless she gets into something really yucky, lots of brushing is all she needs. Much healthier for her skin and coat. (sorry) Have you heard from your little sister in Florida? Everytime I look at the weather that fool storm has changed course again. Worried for Sassy too 😟

Waving "hello" to Feline and "goodnight" to everyone else.........

sensi, does that hurt or itch...looks uncomf. Hope it goes away soon. Good luck and yeah for last chemo

Off to hike, sight see, with my trail friends. Gonna take extra pain meds...yeah. Then off to see Elena.

Jazz, thank you for the pain med post. When I take both tramadol and Vicodin at same time, I feel like " the Iron Lady". But doc told me I can't. Could end up like prince. I said, well, I only take one combo once a day and nothing else all day. I think since a feel so good, and are moving around so much, that the endorphins and serotonin kick in big time. And I am ok for the whole day. He told me don't do it. Now he seems very reluctant to give me anything. He hasn't renewed my tramadol in 4 days. Still waiting for him to call pharmacy. Need to go to PCP like you said. She can take over my pain management. Ahhhhh these docs sometimes.

Patty, yeah, home, and fun weekend. Have a blessed time with your family:)

love the cartoony balloons! Don't know if I'll ever go up in one. Jazzy, have you been in one?

  • PattyPeppermint
    PattyPeppermint Member Posts: 8,950

I've been in one with Mickey Gilley. Old country singer back when I was like 19 or 20. Went to the only baloon festival I've ever seen. My stepmom was waiting in line to get his signature and I waited with. I really didn't care anything about the signature. Anyway finally get our turn and he asks us both if we would like to go up in one. Was super cool. I thought he was hitting on my step mom which was pretty cool. She was flattered but wasn't the kind to cheat on my father. Turns out he was hitting on me. Ugh gross. He was like my grandfathers age. Soon as baloon set back down we were out of there. Can't say it was an actual ride. More just up and down. Still awesome. Would love to actually travel some miles in one
