wildtulip, I know a lot of people don't want to take pain meds, for all different reasons, just a little ditty on me, I have been taking pain meds for 5 years, couldn't make it through the day without. For me, we are all different, but for me, I have never increased my dosage in 5 years. 1 tramadol in the morning and 1 Vicodin at night. It was scary at first cause I had no idea how it would play out. You know, how many pills am I gonna be taken in 5 years...and so on. Don't know if I am in the majority or minority on how my body handles them. And they don't make me tired at all...I guess I am one if the lucky ones. The pain has gotten a lot worse, but haven't increased dosege yet. Hope you start to feel better and find a course you are comfy with.

Those ballons are great. But made me kinda scared. They look so close together.

Hope I sleep good tonight. Usually don't remember my dreams, but last night I kept waking up with a ton of tension everywhere. In my dream, I was the only one who could save the world...ha. That darn debate caused me to have nightmares...lol

    Night night

WildT, yes, symmetry is important. Infinity scarf is good to hide behind. Wow, what a blessing you happened to work at the kid's school yesterday! You deserve a break. Hope your appointment went well today and you got your questions answered. Yeah, I was pleased and surprised I got the mammo result the same day. I had it done early in the day and got the email from my MO at the end of the day. Bless her.

ShepK and WildT, it probably took about 10 minutes for the security pad to reset. I had the key to open the front door but it is was useless as we had the door guard latched. There is a way to open it from the outside (shh, don't tell the robbers that), but I didn't have the right tool. Not the first time I locked myself out. Had to borrow my neighbors ladder to get over the fence the last time. Yes, we have a lock on our fence gate too. Good thing my side garage door was not locked at the time. We do have a spare key in a combo box inside the garage.

Mitzy still breaks out in rash. Trying her yet on another limited ingredients diet- potato with bison. Had to remind DH not to sneak her any dog biscuit. Told him to be strong and not to let Mitzy fools him with her sad puppy eyes. She is very good at it. Tough love. In your pocket tomorrow for the doc visit.

    Jazzy, wow!! Balloons galore!!

JunieB, that is less than two weeks! Yay! Did you say you get to pick?

shep, are you affected by the hurricane?

Wildtulip, hope you and Susan's pain gets better.

Loverly - Don't feel bad. I just took an hour to post a quick note to Patty........I want a keyboard that types what I think at it! I have a terrible time with the speech to text on my tablet and phone. Oh well. Glad you got back in without going over the fence! Mitzy is a puzzle. Lawn chemicals, cleaning products on the floors or bedding, too many doggie baths? Grains, rice, gluten, BHA, BHT - usual triggers that you've already eliminated....... What in world is it that is bothering her? Something bacterial or an internal parasite? Just so odd. Can the vet do a scraping of the affected area and test it?

Stupid Governor that we all hate is going all whack a doodle about the Big Hurricane. She loves making a big fuss and getting her face on the news. The storm is tracking to be far off our coast but the lady is calling for coastal evacuations and has closed all the schools today (Wednesday) until next week. So of course my thumb appointment was rescheduled to next week! I go Monday and will see the NP and not the doctor. Little concerned about this 'cuz I haven't seen anyone from that practice before. Thhhhhp.

Hurricane Matthew is headed straight for Sas though. Right now it is predicted to be a Category 3 for Florida. Prayers for safety for all in the path of the storm.

Sassy - Hope you are hunkered down somewhere solid n' safe!

Aww WildT, you are NOT a failure. Don't let your mind takes you there. Maybe a drug holiday is not a bad idea to help your body recover. What dose were you on? Could you start again on a lower dose and titrate up and take something to help with the pain temporarily? Just thinking out loud. I am sorry you walked away from the MO visit feeling somewhat defeated.

Susan, is it liberating to purge? Crazy how things accumulate over the years. I have this coming Monday off so am thinking where to work on next. So easy to give away DH's stuffs, but hard to give away mine. Haha! The guy hadthree electric drills and forgot he had that many. He only has two hands. Why in the world anybody needs three? I was able to convince him to give away one. Yay! "The extra one is there just in case...." Sigh Well, two is better than three. LOL at your dream

Mommy, I am curious too what topic you chose?

Smaarty ~ Right now the storm effects are just inconveniences. I needed to go to Costco tomorrow but I'm not sure if they'll be open or how bad the traffic from the folks leaving The Beach will be. Darn sissies!

JunieB ~ Yay! Puppy time! Will you change your mind and adopt a baby girl if there aren't any boys? My "oops" was from my back surgery last spring. One of the tools snapped off and is forever in my spine. It can't be removed and is not a material that is safe for an MRI. Us stage 4 gals need proper detailed scans multiple times a year. MRI scans don't use radiation and give the most clear images. I've had several issues where not being able to have one has been a problem. I had a different surgeon and team this time with no "leftovers" 🙄

Sorry to hear your appointment was rescheduled. Was going to ask you if you would be affected by the storm. I remember you mentioned you now live about 10 minutes drive from the beach. That sounds rather close to me. I do hope that Matthew will change his course and move into the Atlantic Ocean. My younger sis lives in Florida about an hour drive from Ms. Sas. Chatted with her (Ms. Sas) this afternoon and she is prepping. Also checked on Ms. Spookie. She said that most likely she won't get hit as hard as the folks on the east side. We had an earthquake warning starting last week for Southern Cal where DD goes to school. She is not far from where the southern end of the San Andreas fault is. There have been many tremors near the Salton Sea where they found a new faultShocked We are really not in control.

Loverly ~ Earthquakes are way scarier than Hurricanes! What do you do when the ground isn't where it's supposed to be? At least there is some warning before a storm hits..... Prayers for your Sister to stay safe. Glad Spookie is on the other side of the storm and that Sas is prepped. Now if only Matthew would blow out to sea! My house is just barely beyond the edge of the area that would be evacuated in a super severe storm. Flooding will be a big problem everywhere if the rains are bad.

WildT ~ Ahhh, I was wondering why it was so uncomfortable in your pocket. Anything to do with changing meds is scary. I took Tamoxifen for 2 years and had to switch to Femara when it stopped working. I was off the Tamoxifen for 3 or 4 weeks before I could start the Femara. I was terrified of having something bad happening during that time but it was okay. We can't control how the meds affect us, we just have to keep trying to find what works best. Femara has been easier on me than the Tamoxifen was, so it all worked out. Switching meds may be a positive thing for you. Hopefully less of those bad side effects. Have you seen a neurologist for your feet? Nerve pain sucks. Lots of people have good results from Cymbalta for nerve pain and numbness. Some Drs get weird about supplements. Most of us here have our own "mix" that helps with stuff. My MO has me take Calcium and D3. I take Celedrin and Peridin C on my own. As for pain pills - take them! Tramadol is excellent for bone pain and doesn't make you wonky. Everyone is different as to how narcotics work for them. Depending on how they hit you, you could have one type that you could take and still be functional and another type for severe pain to take when you can stay home and relax. Being on pain meds long term is no biggie. You are taking them for a reason, not recreation! Just "listen" to your body. If you hurt, take something. If you feel okay, don't take anything. And talk about your pain with us! We understand! Big hugs and prayers for you 💟

Susan ~ You pill popper! (teasing) I wish I could get by with what you take. Metabolism really is so different person to person. I hate that your pain has gotten worse; maybe you should take an extra med? I wish there was a little switch somewhere on our bodies that could be flipped to turn our pain receptors off. And I agree - that is too many balloons all together in Jazzy's sky. Made me nervous to look at 'em! Maybe your dream was a sign? You are the Iron Lady....of course you can save the world! 💪

Ack....running outta steam and thumb power. Hugs & Love to all! I'll leave y'all with this.........😊

Wildtulip, hope you are feeling better today

Everyone in Florida, prayers your way

    Morning all

Funny story....found a hiking group that is more like a fun tour group. They do a tremendous amount of things from hiking, to biking, to kayaking, to overnighters. They are very fun. Something for all abilities. Their hikes are great, the "guide" stops to explain, plants, animal tracks, historical stuff...exactly what I need now while walking or hiking...breaks. Then we bring our own lunch and hunker down somewhere outdoors and eat. I know, you aren't laughing yet....well, they said everyone goes by a nickname...well, I have never had a nickname.....my lanyard now says Iron Lady. Ha

    Bye bye

I love this thread ... have a hard time keeping up. How do you regulars do it? I read and enjoy the balloons, good test results, pictures, sillyness, advice but I need a reply button to each post. Otherwise I feel like I'm ignoring you and you and you ... and all your stuff deserves a comment.

So havnt been posting but reading and enjoying. I'm a quilter and see there are some other crafty folks here, will post pictures someday. Love the knitting pics, would love to learn maybe nows the time. Any baseball fans here? I'm so happy my team will be playing October ball so I'll have something to watch during recovery.

As my surgery date closes in I am sleeping less and less and overthinking did I prepared enough, read every list, ask every question? My surgery is tomorrow Loopymorning. Having BMX, no recon - thanks ladies for all the recon/radiation tips you gave me last month. After this mornings insomina and reading of posts now wonder if I need a wedge pillow to sleep, we dont have a recliner.

Happy fall weather to all, careful if your in the hurricane weather.

After brainstorming and much researching with my husband, I chose to write about the negative aspects of Obamacare. I was able to find lots of information to help me with writing my paper which has to be a minimum of 5 pages but no more than 6 pages. Just have to do my reading assignments and two discussion posts and then a journal entry about my topic before I start on the paper.

Keeping an eye on the path of Matthew even though it won't be coming my way. I have family in Georgia who could be impacted by the storm.

Wildtulip- you are not a failure for not being able to tolerate these drugs. These anti-hormone drugs are some of the worst part of treatment, certainly has been for me. Took me a LONG TIME to be able to adjust to them. I was ready to give them up all together, and know a lot of people do. I think pharma is the one that is the failure here, to create a protocol that makes it so hard to move forward from everything else we go on. Don't take this on personally, many MANY women have issues with these drugs. Getting the medication vacation is just what you need right now. I did that too and it helped when I went back on. These drugs are tough on a woman. Hugs sister. I hope you feel better soon!

Thinking of friends here worried about hurricanes and earthquakes!

jeanQ, good luck, best wishes, hugs and prayers for your upcoming surgery. I have wedge pillow for sitting up and another one for legs. Hard to get up when I am using both....lol. I find the wedge helps a lot. Sometimes you get bad acid reflux from meds too, and the wedge helps. I slept in recliner after surgery, layed down once, and couldn't get up...lol. So be careful there. I had BMX too.

Off to work....and I don't mean "off". I work out of my house. I am never lateNerdy

oh JeanQ, wish you'd said something sooner. I can still send you little pillows if you're in the US. they help a lot. Send me a pm if you want a pair. We will be in your pocket.

Susan, have fun with Elena. I didn't get to play much with Evie while they were here. Her grandma sure misses her a lot!

Everybody have a good weekend. Off to swim cLass.

Susan, Thank you for the pain med input. I appreciate your thoughts. I'm sorry your pain is worsening. Sending healing hugs!

Loverly, Poor mitzy! I don't think a different dose of meds are an option, or MO would have mentioned it. Thanks for the Sas update. Earthquakes sound scary!

Shep, Thank you to you too for the pain med info. I'll make a note of what you and Susan said in case it comes up in the future. I did ask MO if I should see someone about my feet, but he said not at this time. I'm sorry your thumb shot got rescheduled. I hope the rain is minimal for you and you stay safe.

JeanQ, Thinking of you tomorrow as you head into surgery. If not a wedge, perhaps a lot of pillows will be needed. I just used pillows, but if you are considering delayed reconstruction, a wedge may be a good investment for multiple surgeries. Take Smaarty up on her offer for small pillows! They are good for under the arms and I also used as cushion for my seat belt.

Mommy, Best wishes for the paper writing. It sounds like a lot of work, but an interesting read.

    Blinkie, Welcome!

Jazzy, thanks for the hug and encouraging words.

    Thanks, everyone for the support!!

Shep - Sorry that the last surgeon messed things up for you last year, but glad the one this time did well for you. I hope you are healing and as pain free as possible now.

Last night I had a nightmare about me going to pick up my puppy and finding only a chocolate brown female puppy that didn't even look like a Cairn Terrier. I think I panicked in the dream and was very disappointed. I question why I am so set on only a male puppy, and the only thing I can come up with is that when I was a freshman in High School I brought home a stray female puppy and named her "Pepper Ann". I adored that baby. But when I moved to So. Lake Tahoe, I left Pepper with my mother and step-father. They came to visit me one weekend and left their dogs, plus my Pepper Ann with a friend of my mother's. That woman was dating a much younger man and when she came to feed our dogs, she brought her boyfriend's white German Shepard. That Shepard scared the daylights out of my Pepper and she ran away. The woman didn't even have the decency to call to tell us, and when my parents got back home that Sunday afternoon, they found Pepper run over on the highway. I was devastated and I don't think I've ever forgiven that woman for her irresponsibility. To this day I will NOT leave my pets with any private individual to care for if I have to go somewhere.

Loverly - I am glad you finally got back in your house. Does Mitzy lay on a purchased dog bed? I just read an article this morning about the toxic chemical/flame retardants that come frome furniture and dog beds that can cause health issues in humans & animals.

WildT- Like Susan, I have been using Relafen (anti-inflammatory), Tramadol & Vicodan for at least 10 years. I also do not get sleepy from them. I take the relafen in the morning with 1/2 a Vicodan + 1 tramadol. Then use 1/2 of a Vicodan + 1 Tramadol throughout the day as needed. At this point I use one Relafen, 2-3 Tramadol and 2 Vicodan total per day. I function well and stay reasonably comfortable. But you need to make the choice that works best for your situation.

It is scary to be off the caner meds for any period of time, especially if they are keeping the cancer at bay. However, you also have to consider your QOL too. I hope your MO can make a treatment plan that works for you.

I am on round 12 of the Ibrance + Faslodex, and I am fortunate to have only dealt with fatigue and increased fibromyalgia/osteoarthritis pain so far, but recently I am noticing that my hair is thinning at a faster & faster rate. Hair everywhere. If this keeps up, I may be bald by this time next year. Well if that happens I'll just save the hair from when my dog gets groomed and make myself a wig.Loopy

Have a good day everyone. BBL

susan. My hospital didn't but the surgeons nurse made them homemade and gave them out. She had been there done that. If you used a different surgeon then you didn't get them.

Junebug. Oh. That's a sad story about pepperann. Sorry. Should be a misdemeanor crime.
