WildT- Laundry is one of my least favorite chores. I did 6 loads myself today. Wanted to make sure I have clean underwear if the power goes out from the storms.
There were 2 Tornados here in Oregon today. Lots of damage. Saturday (today) is going to be even worse. Today about 800 homes lost power in the Portland metro area, and they say that that number will be far greater later today when the next storm hits.
Shep - The breeder is going to post a video of the puppies once they are about 4 weeks. I should be able to get a better idea of their personalities, since I can't see them in person until I actually go to get my baby boy.
Funny Cat fishing pic.
Does anyone have any contact info for Wenchie?
Smaarty - I hope your cold is getting better.
Feline - Waving Hi too you.

mammaray and I keep in phone texting contact. She is hanging in there.
I think hole in one moved. I have her old address
Have a good Saturday gals

Junie, They keep their dire warnings up until I'm almost ready to go buy cheese and a can of tuna fish. We have a gas stove, but I think it may require electricity to work. The tornado was quite a surprise.

Thanks for that news of MamaRay Susan.

Well, everyone, I guess it's time to welcome me to the "Insomniac Club". Bad enough that I'm in the Stage IV club, now I'm in this club, too.
Yippee....
I'm on Xeloda, and one of the delightful SEs is NOT being able to sleep even tho this chemo also makes you hella fatigued. It's maddening. I take medical cannabis, and sometimes it helps, but a lot of the time it doesn't.
After about 3 nights of this madness, I'll finally sleep for maybe 5-7 hours, but on bad nights, I'm lucky to get 2-3. It sucks that your eyes are so heavy and sticky, and it's easy to keep them closed, but you just CAN'T seem to drift off. I've tried guided meditations, prayers, and sometimes I'll just put my ear buds in and listen to ocean sounds.
Will I EVER be able to sleep like a normal person again?
When they switch me over to Aromatase Inhibitors, I hear the insomnia is even worse. Oh gees, I can't wait.

JazzyJune, Oops, forgot to add, prayers to everyone in the Pacific Northwest facing the storm. I live in the Bay Area, and we haven't been hit too bad...yet. Mostly a lot of wind. Part of our back fence fell down again yesterday. Some part of it usually goes down in one of these storms. I've made sure DH and I have plenty of clean underwear, too ;o). But in my case, I have to keep Depends on hand because of the wonderful diarrhea I get with Xeloda.
Stay safe,
Lita

Susan ~ Thank you for the update on MammaRay! Please let her know she's got a whole buncha Owlies thinking of her. Sending up prayers for her and family.
Wren and Junie ~ Tornado's? I didn't think you got those out your way. Scary! We had a couple last weekend during the hurricane - not near us, and no one hurt. Those things are sneaky....one can just appear outta nowhere! About ten years ago there was a tornado that destroyed several hotels on the ocean front. My neighbor's husband called her to warn us all that he could SEE it heading our way - he was driving home and was about 4 miles away. Our kids were young back then, middle and elementary school ages. My usually calm and rational neighbor was in a panic and wanted to come over with her 2 kids to hide in my tiny half bathroom. She figured it was the safest interior spot to go. Can you imagine two adults and five decent sized kids cramming into an itty bitty space? We would have been standing on the loo, sitting in the sink........ Thank goodness her DH called to tell us the funnel spun back around to the beach and away from us! May you stay safe and fully electrified!
Clever Junie - I always make sure my skivies are prepped too!
Wren - Unless it has an electric starter your gas stove should work. Is it cold there yet?
Wenchie's address would be awesome if anyone has it. I'd like to send her a card to make her smile and know I'm thinking of her. Plus I need to know where to send her this fun surprise......

Hi Lita! Welcome to Insomniacs. This is a happy and silly place. Our ladies are all different stages with different experiences. All are kind, caring, wise and gosh darn fun! Life can be chitty and stressful. This is where we gather to lift each other up and forget our troubles for a little bit. And look at hot half nekkid men. Very important 😋

What a difference a week makes! Last Saturday Marti was swimming in the back yard - she is a big doggie, 28 inches tall at the shoulders.....the water was kinda deep! It's gone now and Marti is sad.............
This is how the yard looked "before" . Lots of trees were knocked down during the storm....

shep, sent you PM.
Evie at 9 mos. this was taken when they were here for the wedding.
Ben at 1 mo.

Hope I'm not posting this twice. Still learning how to do a video. Today marks 5 years that I brought Chance home for a trial adoption. Love my boy
0 -
I never thought of celebrating adoption day. With a rescue, you don't know their birthday. But adoption day is a good idea.
0 -
I actually know his DOB. He's extra spoiled....we celebrate both

Sensi - Happy Adoption Day! to you & Chance. Did Chance have his name already when he came to you? or did you give him his name. I have a list of puppy names, with a couple at the top of my list.
I prefer to think of Chance as appropriately treated, rather than extra spoiled. He was adopted by a mama who loves him a lot.
Smaarty - Very nice pics of Evie & Ben.
Wren - The storm was quite bad on the coast and in the Portland metro area. Salem (where I live) had winds of 52 mph most of the day, but thankfully no power outages. Plenty of rain though. One town (I forget the name) had a wind speed of 102 mph. Yikes! The Portland area also had quite a few tree incidents where they fell on homes and cars. One couple were in their car and looked up just in time to see a tree falling on their car and were able to jump out with only minor scratches. Thankfully!
Shep - Ms. Marti looks quite content looking out over the water. If you manage to get Wenchies' address would you please PM me? I like your idea of sending her a card.
Well I'll say goodnight to you all. Sleep Well I hope.

Hi ladies- got back last night from the NYC immersion trip. Five days of so much fun, food, shopping, and visits with family and friends. I feel all filled up by the Big Apple, but have one short day to get myself back into the groove before I go back into my busy project. Will share more with time, but just wanted to say hi and tell you we had a great vaca!

Shep - great photos!
0 -
Smaarty - you must be soooo proud of them!

Sensi - thats a great doggie! I like that you got to do a trial with him at home. I'd like another dog but we've been without for a few years and want the right one ... especially since the cat has now become queen.
Shep - Yes I do think mine were definitely from the Femara/Arimidex. My doctors never wanted to admit to that. I'd had zero arthritis symptoms ever before cancer/chemo/AI meds. Then wham joints could barely move and trigger fingers over and over. Glad the shot has brought relief for you.

Lita, Welcome!
Junie, Good you prepared for storm, even better you didn't lose power. I don't mind the wash/dry part, but the folding and putting away of laundry is what I really hate.
Smaarty, cute pics!
Sensi, that video made me smile!!
Feline, hi..hope you are doing well.
Jazzy, welcome home. I'm glad you had a good trip!
Loverly, I like the rain too. Love to sit and watch it, and my DD is the same.
Shep, that is so cool you have potty trained your cats! I want to see a picture of a cat using the toilet, seriously. I hope you are getting the bank mess straightened out. Bummer! Good the water is receding. Did it stay out of your house?
My DD's appointment went fine, and we were able to get her in for vocal cord surgery fairly quickly..on Thursday, 11/3. She so funny..she's so excited that she walks around telling people. Typically it's just a day for recovery, but 11/4 the kids don't have school, so she'll have lots of time to recover before school the following Monday. DS had a check up on his enlarged tonsils Thursday, and yep, they're still enlarged. The Dr suggested a sleep study and said at some point he will need to have the tonsils taken out. He said it's about 7-10 days recovery (bad sore throat)...UGH! Friday I was kinda down...DD surgery Nov, my surgery Dec and then at some point (maybe next summer) surgery for DS. SO, SO tired of planning life around surgeries. I put a pulse oxcimeter on DS (that thing hospitals put on your finger that reads heart rate and pulse..we own one) while he slept, and he is breathing fine. The sleep study will tell us more, but considering he's breathing fine, the sleep study isn't a rush. I'll probably do the sleep study some time this winter, check up with Dr in the spring and talk about surgery at that point.
Last night I went out and listened to some music..nice and relaxing. Off to exercise and get ready for a friend's party.

Junie, You're right that we dodged a bullet with the wind. My part of town was settled by Norwegians and Swedes who cut down the big trees for houses and boats. We had a few trees fall, but the damage mostly is in the suburbs where there are lots of fir trees. It did rain steadily and hard at times. I guess I have no excuse for not raking up leaves. Much harder when they're wet.
Holeinone may be under the weather with nasty chemo. I'm glad you're going to drop her a line.

Patty, I pm'd Holeinone too. Got no answer. Hope and pray she is well.

Hi Lover, I'm around been reading but not posting. Trying to get the house ready for the all critical DS who is coming in with the grandchildren. Wedding is in a little over a week and a half. They are getting married on the 27th and reception on the 29th. DD decided last week she wanted to do gift bags for the out of town guests at the hotels. With her working, I couldn't see her being able to get everything she wanted and the bags put together, so I volunteered to do it. Got them all completed yesterday. On top of it, yesterday she decided she wanted flowers on the tables. Yikes! Two weeks to go and she finally decided that. Was thinking about doing them "in house" shall we say. Thank goodness I told her to check out florists. Soooo she stopped by Costco, found what she was wanting and they do arrangements for weddings. Yeah, she's the kid who can fall into a pile of crap and come up smelling like roses. Plus, she wants mini pumpkins on the tables. We shall see.
Have you talked with you dad anymore about his experience getting your family out of Viet Nam. I do hope you are talking with other family members who made this journey with you. If you can, tape it so you can have it in there words to pass on. It would be nice to have it in oral an written form. About six years ago, I started working on my family tree. Stopped work on it when I was diagnosed. Last month DH wanted me to start up again and work on his family as well. Got a good start on his family with the help of a neighbor who loves doing this kind of work and have taken it over. Started showing him how to work it but we are on hold now until the "shindig" is over.

JuneBug, can't wait until you get your puppy and post pictures of him. The litter looks very healthy from the picture you posted.
Patty, so glad you are posting more. Sorry to hear you were in the hospital but so glad you are out and yakking it up with the owlets. How's your back doing after the camping trip? Sounds like it was successful. So happy you can make wonderful memories for your boys.
Smaarty, Evie is getting so big. Hard to imagine she was a premie. I love the effect the picture frame gives to the photo. Such a neat idea.
Shep, argh to the banking mess the hurricane has caused you. I hope the bank gets its act together and gets you squared away soon. You don't need the stress.
Jazzy, your trip sounds wonderful. Nothing like making good memories. The photos of the hot air balloons were awesome. Hubby and I went up in one about ten years ago. Afterwards, he said he was scared to death. I loved it! Also went up in a glider that same trip. Needless to say, he stayed on the ground and waited for me. Loved doing that at well. He never really knew that I wanted to do those things and wondered why. I said the kids are grown so if anything bad happens he wouldn't have to worry about taking care of them on his own.
Susan, sounds like you really enjoy playing with Elana. Nothing like watching a baby grow and become their own person.

Has any heard from Sas? I PM'd her yesterday but haven't heard. Worried she was affected by the hurricane. Hope she is doing ok.
Mags, hope the dentist can work some magic on your mouth. It looks so painful. Can't imagine having to deal with it.
Tulip, sounds like you are having some well deserved "me" time.
Oops, Shep meant to say glad your hand is better and I love the picture of Kliban's cats. And, whoa, that's a lot of water.
To those having chemo, I hope it is being kind to you. To those who have had surgery, I hope your recovery is going smoothly and to those with upcoming surgeries, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Lastly, welcome newbies!
Oh this is what I get for not posting as I read. It looks like I'm writing a book. Trying to get everyone in. Sorry for leaving anybody out. Was not intentional. I have got to learn to keep notes.

Hopefully, everyone gets a few more hours of sleep tonight. I'm sick of getting 3-5. I need at least 7. Spoke to an old friend who's been NED for over 10 years, and she says she STILL has sleep problems (they started when she was going thru chemo, too)...so I guess I'll have this to look forward to for the rest of my days...er, nights.
Time to ramp up on the medical cannabis. I hear it helps.

Kath ~ Good to see you busy lady! Love hearing about the wedding plans. Pumpkins on the tables? Nah....that would be like combining two different celebrations. Gotta love Costco! They do have everything.
I spoke to Sassy a few days ago. All is well with her, she's taking a break for a little while. I'm sure she'll be back soon. The hurricane wobbled just far enough away to not cause her any problems.
Smaarty ~ Is Evie talking yet? She looks like she is starting to say something profound. Ooooh, I can see her little toothers! Ben looks "all boy", the little cutie!
Jean ~ are you still having the trigger fingers? My thumb is still sore and clicks when I first get up but then it's fine. Index finger is good too. I grew up with Rheumatoid Arthritis and went into remission when I was 19 or so. The AI joint pain is different...I think it hurts more. And it never backs off. Uck. Does your kitty mind being an "only"? I've always had at least 2 critters at the same time. I really would like to get another Shepherd. Pris needs a more active playmate and Marti would enjoy having another dog for company. The Fart Face I married says "no". He is such a fart face.........
WildT ~ Hoping the credit card fiasco will be straightened out Monday. At least they fixed it so the bills were covered. The water in the backyard never got up to the house, but Marti's fur brought a ton of it inside! There's videos of kitty's using toilets on YouTube. I never took any pictures of mine because I didn't want to embarrass them. They are sensitive creatures you know. DD sounds like such a love! Excited and happy is way better than worried and scared 🙂 Too bad DS has to wait so long for his tonsils. It seems like the Dr. would want to take them out now since they are still enlarged? Out last nite and a party today - woo-hoo! Hope you had fun!
Sensi & Chance ~ 💜💜💜
Jazzy ~ Excited to hear all about your NYC adventures!
Patty ~ Camping stories? So awesome you are out and about and LIVING! Yay you! 😀
JunieB ~ That was a heck of a storm! Glad you made it through okay. Must have been scary with those high winds. Good thing you don't have your little Toto yet.....he might have been whisked away! 🌪
Wren ~ Did you ever figure out if the gas stove would have worked without power? Glad you stayed safe. You west coast gals aren't supposed to have those big blows!
Susan ~ Been thinking about Elena being a screamer in the car. I used keep tapes of lullabies and kiddie songs in the car for DS. For long trips I would buy some little toys and keep them as surprises when he got bored. Then there's good ole children's Benadryl....😴
Feline ~ There's been much talk of autumn weather and leaves changing colour.... Does Ireland have any changes in the fall? It's so interesting the differences in seasons around the world! (subtly requesting some of your gorgeous photos) 🖼
Loverly ~ Where are you???? I'm sorry I said your fishies were yucky 😢 Here's a few to make-up......
And now we can all go to sleep and dream about making a special catch 😛
Love & Hugs to all the Owlies!

Wren, I have a gas stove with the electronic ignition. Stove won't work but you can light the burners. I use one of those long butane lighters. The kind for charcoal grills. Works like a charm.

Shep, I agree about the pumpkins. The flowers with the tea lights should be enough. Pumpkins will just make it look cluttered.

Shep Autumn is late this year, weather has been extremely mild all the way through Sept and early Oct. Heard a man waiting in line in supermarket joking to another customer "How's your summer going?" as the glorious sunshine streamed through the foyer onto the queue. But here are some pics from last year.
The autumn fungi are doing very well in the warm weather though, it is a bonanza year and I am finding ones the size of dinner plates
