Chevy, Beautiful poem you posted!! Yes, I do love wild tulips. I love that their scent is subtle and they have such internal beauty..and you have to be close to them to see that beauty. I love that they are soft, yet strong enough to be in the frozen ground. I wrote a poem about tulips once..not sure if I ever posted, or if anyone's interested. I could always PM if someone wants me to share.
Jean, I am short on time, but wanted you to know that I am thinking of you and have some thoughts I want to share that may (I hope) motivate you. I will be getting back to you tomorrow morning, at the latest. Hugs!

Good morning Owlettes! I got sprung last night and home around 7:30 but was too tired to do anything but fall in bed and sleep. I am still sleepy and feeling drugged but the headache is much improved. Last thing before we got the paperwork last night was a visit from staff neurologist, who we liked a lot. After much poking and prodding and conversation, here's what he came up with. The headache was most likely caused by the combination of problems in my neck (cervical spine mets + compressed discs), the lousy bed & pillows, and not having my usual dosage of zanaflex for muscle relaxer. I've been on this stuff since '08 and I pretty much have my dosage pattern arranged to work optimally. Of 4 pills, 4 mg ea, scored to easily split, I take 1/2 of one morning and afternoon, 1 or 2 around 8 and the remaining 1 or 2 when I go to bed. At the hospital I was allowed 1 as needed but I didn't know that and didn't think that I wasn't getting them. So the problem just compounded. The neurologist also prescribed some Valium to help me sleep and lidocaine patches for my neck pain. Thus ends the tale.
M0mmy, can you post the link to the Richard III story? I am a history addict and I love that kind of stuff.
Thanks everyone for the well wishes. We never did find out what the infection was, even with an infectious disease specialist consulting. She said that it probably was the UTI all the time, and having been on Cipro for 2 days rendered all cultures negative. And we still don't know what the chest pain was. I've had costochondriitis for years off and on, and though this didn't feel like it, after everything my chest has been through it may well be a new manifestation of it. In any case, I'm nowhere near the end of my journey, not time for hospice or that sort of thing. Shirley's death so soon after stage 4 dx at the same time as mine truly threw me for a loop, I'll confess, but each of us is unique and our cancer paths are too. Good thing for all of us to remember.
So Loverly, don't bury me yet! I still want that hug from you one of these days! I feel for your DD, I had many dreams like that through the years, and now that my mom is almost 13 years gone, she visits me often in dreams. The cord is never broken. In fact, even when I don't dream *about* her, she is there somewhere. But then, my mom was quite a lady.
Leaving you this now, as I was reminded this week that I could connect with you all when I was at my lowest point. You are my tribe.

Mags! I had a UTI not too long ago.... Did I just post this? I got a prescription for something, then after tests came back, they changed me to CIPRO.... I had the WORST pain in my shoulder after that! I quit taking THAT med also.... Sometimes these meds can drive us crazy.... er..... I'm glad you are home!
I googled the SE's of Cipro.... and found out that yes, pain can happen in joints....
Tulip.... Do you have your poem handy? I love that you find beauty in a flower most of us take for granted.... ! I love when they come up every Spring in my garden.... just as beautiful as the year before!
I have a Kangaroo Paw plant,,,(fern) and that thing is just beautiful! It grows these "paws" that go outside of the pot when it gets root-bound, and the leaves are beautiful... Doesn't shed like any Boston Fern's I have had...

Mags ~ You are home! You have a f'd up neck! Whoopie! Now you have a cause for those awful headaches and a plan to get 'em under control. Lidocaine patches for your neck? Never thought of that....do tell us if they work!
Fingers crossed for no more infections.
(((hugs))) You had us scared girl (((bigger hugs)))
Gotta go before I get all blubbery and mushie.....
So, so happy for you
And so happy for us - all you had to do was mention Sam Elliott and Chevy came back!

Sam Elliot? That's all it took? Well then, here you go, Chevy!

We were going out for a ride on his Harley, and I stopped and took a quick picture!

I can't believe what I just did. I had a whole post typed and ready to click submit, then for some reason I scrolled to the top of this page and clicked on "My Favorite Topics". Lost the post I'd typed. Good Grief!
Anyway here goes again.
Hallelujah! Mags you're home. Glad you have more answers and more help for your pain. So glad you're planning on being here with us a lot longer! (((HUGS))) Love the pic of the "Tribe" saying too.
Susan - When do you guys head to Calif.? I hope you all have a great time together.
JeanQ - Good luck with your appts. and fittings next week.
WildT - Have you been able to accomplish everything you wanted in prep for Monday?
Chevy - Such a handsome sight it is of Sam!
Smaarty - Did you get to your laundry yet? I had plans to do mine today, but didn't make it. They are predicting snow in our area and had hoped to get some things done (like my laundry) before it hits. I have to haul my laundry to the laundry room on the complex property that is about a half block away. Way better than having to haul it to a laundromat though.
My thumb is still sore, but much improved. Thankfully! Apparently I had what they call a Cortisone Flare reaction. I had a similar reaction two months ago with the Faslodex injection on my left side. I sure hope my immune system isn't working on a full fledged rebellion.
Sheppers - Is your FIL still in the hospital? Any improvement? How is your body/spine handling all of this stress.(((HUGS)))!
Only 14 days until Kirby comes home. :0)
Have a good night ladies.

Okay, just a heads up. I decided to go ahead and change my sign in name from JazzyJuneBug to JunieB. Since that is what I like the best and it lessens any confusion for others when both JazzyGirl & I are posting.
Goodnight again.

Mags, Glad you're home. Hospitals are no fun at all.
Chevy, Does your Kangaroo Paw grow outside? Do you bring it in in the winter? Or does it survive outside?
0 -
Hello all. I'm awake enough and my brain seems clear enough to read posts, take notes and reply . Running about a week behind.
JunieB-Kirby is so cute. I'm excited for you. Chance didn't get any turkey on Thanksgiving. I'm a mean mommy and give him very little people food. I'll watch out for Kirby's sister, though she'd probably be in the little dog park . I hope you are feeling better.
Smaarty-Welcome home. I hope you had a fabulous trip.!
Shep-I'm not sure if I know the meaning of slow down. I think my body might put me in check though. I worked 81.75 hours the past two weeks, and I was definitely dragging. I hope your FFH dad is doing better.
Wild-loved the pics of your kids with Santa and Albert the elf. I was referring to the SE of the Tamoxifen I started Thursday night. Hopping they are minor.. I'll see my MO next in February. Good thoughts to you on your surgery day.
Lita-Sofie is adorable and your lasagna sounds supper yummy.
Lover-I'm adjusting to work. Sort of wishing I had only gone back 4 days a week. Was pretty tired after a full two weeks back. Laughing at your comment on chin hair. I use to have chin hair before chemo and it went away. And now that my hair is slowly coming back, so is the hair chin. Bummed that I'm missing lunch with you ladies on Tuesday. I love a good burger.
Poppy-how's the new kitty? Does she have a name yet, or did I miss it when reading post?
Mags-Hoping that you are feeing better. Sorry to read that you had to spend time in the hospital. LOL and your toilet story though. Thanks for the laugh. Glad to read that you are home now and you were able to go over stuff with your husband. And yes NO to burying you yet. Lover as I call her is a great quiet sweet gal .
Was sad to hear about Holeinone. Did not know her well, but remember her posting here.
Think that is all for now. I've had a busy day off. Finished putting up my Christmas lights and cleaned out my garage some. Up at 5 tomorrow for work. Enjoy the rest of your weekend ladies.

Think I did a pretty good job. Have a couple bare spots on roof, might climb back up and add more

Name change here too, Poppy like my avatar, which was my mom's favorite flower! Formerly JeanQ.
JunieB, love that name reminds me of JunieB Jones! Is it just this site, I feel your pain about losing a post. I just did it also and have done it before. Sometimes I can right click and hit the undo button but not always.
Sensi - you didnt miss the kitten name, he is between names at the moment. Still trying a few out to see what fits! Your christmas lights look great, careful on that roof lady.

I'm sorry- i know you all said important things..
but: SamElliot.

Poppy - Loverly dubbed me JunieB early on and I like it, plus it just kind of stuck.
Sensi - Great job on the lights. NO you are not a mean Mom, you take good care of Chance. I won't be feeding Kirby people food either. Actually, I'll be feeding him a dehydrated raw diet, plus I got a slow cooker to make him organic bone broth to put over his food. I also have a water filter for myself and Kirbs will drink filtered water too. Good diet will hopefully keep him away from the vet.
I hope you get acclimated to your work schedule sooner than later and build up your stamina.
Yes, chin hair is a real annoyance. Have to use a lighted 10x magnification mirror to keep them under control.
Ok, goodnight & sleep well everyone.

It was on the Smithsonian Channel, Mags. I don't know if you get that channel but I am sure you can Google it. The program was called Secrets: Richard III Revealed

No JWow ! We didn't say anything important... Just Sam!
JunieB... I KNOW! Those little buggers were just gruesome... And stiff as a cue-stick.... I don't get anymore hair in un-familiar places anymore... Your hair-producing hormones, or whatever you have just get tired, and go to sleep, permanently. But you have to be over maybe 70 for this to occur. Just shave them off! They'll learn!
Wren, I bought my "little" Kangaroo Paw at Walmart about a year ago, when it was a little hanging plant! But I kept it outdoors on our little lattice porch, so it was out of the "elements"... and hot sun. I brought it in, putting it in a bigger pot... in front of our West window on a stand. That thing is so heavy now, it would yank the ceiling down if I tried hanging it... I'll take a picture later on... like when it gets light out... Ha!
Sensitive ! WTH???? You were up on your ROOF? You weren't kidding??? Can you come over HERE?
Poppy, who were you before you were Poppy?
And now I am so confused... JazzyB, I DID used to confuse you two... But now you are JunieB !!! Okay.... like I'll remember that.....I remember asking you if you still played the pan-drum... but it was JazzyG !
Okay... Tom Selleck & Sam.....

I liked Sam Elliot in the movie Gettysburg. He played General Buford of the Union Army.
0 -
His VOICE! I'll have to look up that movie... Do you watch Blue Bloods with Tom Selleck? Good series!

So I thought my DH looked like Johnny Cash & Elvis.... He was just 17 when we met...1955... I was 18... We got married about 2 years later.0

Chevyboy - JeanQ was my former name...nice to meet you.

Good morning!
Mags, SO glad you are home! I like the tribe pic..I agree! I second Shep..let us know if the Lidocaine patches work. I have occasional migraines and always start feeling them in the neck. I wonder if the patches would help.
Chevy, I'll send you a PM.
Shep, How are you?
Loverly, what's up with you these days?
Junie, You said you got a slow cooker to make bone broth for Kirby..do you make it now for yourself? I just made my first batch of bone broth with my turkey bones. I have a bunch in freezer for later this week. No, I haven't gotten to everything on my to do list, but I'm expecting today to be very productive. My kids left last night, then I took time to go out and listen to music. I did running around throughout the week, so today I'll be doing everything around the house that I need to do...cleaning, bills, laundry, packing, etc. I'm going to make at least one soup today too. My mom is picking me up about 5pm, and she sounds so excited to have me staying with her for these couple of nights.
Sensi, I wish you could have eased into your full work schedule. I hear you on the chin hair..a daily maintenance for me. I have said to people..I could easily be a vegetarian, except that I LOVE a good burger.
Poppy, As promised...I completely understand being uncomfortable about going to the gym after MX. I felt the same way..about going out in public, in general. Less than two months after my BMX I had a trip planned (to Disney!) and my MO planned chemo around it with one dose 1.5 weeks before trip. It was too early for prosthesis, so I toured Disney and went in a resort pool flat. The day before we were leaving I started losing my hair, so went somewhere and had it shaved off with my kids, my mom and brother watching. Okay, off track..sorry..keep reading. Everybody has different interests and abilities with fitness, and motivation is one of the hardest things. I'm hoping that if I share what I have done the last year it will either motivate you, or give you ideas for options if you are not ready to be in public.
I was lucky..at the end of chemo I was given the opportunity to attend "chemo rehab." I worked with a PT learning stretches and walking on a treadmill to build my endurance. Once I was stronger, I was able to continue to go to the facility without PT (rehab gym, primarily used by chemo and cardiac patients) for 3 months on my own for free. This was the best thing for me, because I was comfortable there being flat and bald. I know I could not have gone to a regular gym. About a year ago my 3 free months was up, and I needed to come up with a plan, so I decided to invest in a treadmill. I knew I was looking at more surgeries, and the treadmill would be helpful with recovery. I have not regretted this decision! I am one who needs variety and am a self proclaimed exercise video junkie. I have many I have purchased at a used book store. I gained 25 lbs with chemo and in early March had lost 15, but needed to change things up. I found out about a new website, www.gethealthyutv.com founded by Chris Freytag. (She is local to me, and also has a free website with nutrition info. www.gethealthlyu.com) It is like a gym membership, you have an annual membership fee, but then you stream videos. There is everything from yoga, to walking, to high intensity. You can go to the tv website and access samples of workouts, if interested. By June I lost the additional 10 lbs I had gained. I have been striving to lose more before this next surgery, but it has been harder this time. Loverly, if you're reading, I know you are keeping track..I did not meet my goal, but I have lost an additional 4 lbs, and I am NOT giving up!
And no, exercise is not all about weight loss for me. It's important to me for overall health..flexibility, strength, BP control, energy, etc.
Sorry for the long post...I hope I didn't bore anyone.

So I see Chevy is up to her old tricks with that Sam what's his name. She really meets him in her alley on her pole. Don't let her fool you.
If you really want to get warm come on down!!
0 -
I prefer John Travolta over Sam.
0 -
Oh sure.... Here comes SPOOKIE! See, she thinks I broke my hip by pole dancing in my alley. I did.... but she wasn't supposed to blab about it!
Hi JeanQ... I mean Poppy! Okay.... nice to meet you too!

My Kangaroo Paw fern......

The only show I watched with Tom Selleck was Magnum. I watched it just for Higgins's dogs, Zeus and Apollo.
Chevy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Missed ya gal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chevy, That fern is really pretty. I'll check and see if it is poisonous to cats. So many plants are that you wonder how they've ever survived. Of course one of my cats chewed up a mother-in-law's tongue which is on the poison list, so perhaps they're just cautious. We had to do away with house plants while we had her. We have a big African violet. We know it's ok because she ate 1/2 of a previous one. Sneakily from the back side too.
