Welcome back Feline, he it was a great trip.

Sheep thank you for finding Greer's poem. And eBay prices. I'll warn Steve not to pitch. I have both protected in zip lock bags.

When it was published in the Detroit paper, it was very well received. Brought lot's of tear because it was very close in time to the event.

Loverly, sorry Dad has to go through this, but they have gotten better at the radiation thing. It's not like it used to be. Perhs, the Salem thing didn't get the press because of the end of days thing. I was interested in the occurrence of the Salem and the Salem road at the crossroads of the 2024 eclipse.

Kathy how cool your doc included you. I did the paper cardboard and pon hole thing as a kid too

Patty is there anyone that could send you phone pictures or streaming? I'm not tech smart in that regard. maybe they could even Skype?

Morning Owlies, we do have several in the area of the storm. Beatsmom, Luvmyygoats, Phyllis's BBF whom she's stayed with over the five years she was in treatment. I have a niece.

    Beatsmom Yahooooopooo are you dry?

Littlegoats hasn't posted in quite sometime

Mags is above it in Oklahoma, but it looks like rain bands are hitting them.

With rain bands, the positive is the wind keeps coming in between bands so it can dry things out. But Texas is heaving the tripple whammy. The rivers, the storm going in almost a circle with a second hit. Three things the storm surge, the rivers flooding from above, and the circling storm. Praying for them.

Please, forgive all the spelling errors. Stupid machine. I correct the errors before posting. Then move on. Only to find out that the machine uncorrected them.i.e. sheep Sep for Sep for Sep. SHEP. and Junkie for even June. A new machine is not in the budget yet. I may have to type in all caps.

I had a family friend of almost 40 years in the path of Harvey. Heard last night he and his wife are okay. They evacuated to Dallas before the hurricane hit.

Sassy ~ I just found the best news article about that clever doggie. What a character! There's much more to the story - a must read 😉

    Dog carrying food goes viral

Happy you found his pic and shared the story - I'm still smiling 🐶

Hoping Jwoo and Eeyore are safe n' dry. 🙏

ShepK, thanks for checking on Eeyore07.I am fine in south central Texas. Texas is really huge, I am 160 miles north from Rockport, the landing of Harvey, and 160 miles east of Houston. Basically right at the very west edge of the rain and wind coverage. We only got 2 days rain. But what happened to south Texas coast and Houston area are heart broken. It is worse than Katrina! Watch out for the next storm forming in the area north of Florida coast. It may affect where you are.

Oh Shep, what fun, Otis is an amazing sensation. The story will go on for years. I thought he was a golden retriever from the rear. I just loved he was caring his food. Totally amazing how the dog knew this. AMAZING

The DAMN machine. I inadvertently hit the n key and it worked. Then hit the B key to see what it would do. It worked. GRHHHH. No clue why they started working because my IT folks couldn't get them yo work. Plus, if I did a space and a p, it wouldn't work. The p wouldn't appear... p, now it does.

This is a Donnie story. He went last Wed. to Ohio for a weekend family reunion. I said to him on the phone possibly Thursday that I missed him. He didn 't say it back. Next time I said Donnie, I said I missed you and you didn't say any thing back. Today, I said Donnie I missed you and he said I miss you too, followed by "Is that what I'm supposed to say?" "Yes dear". You'd have to know Donnie to know how much that meant.

Friends from Nepal sent us photos of the devastation. I don't think it's appropriate to post here.

Eeyore, so glad to hear you are safe, but so sad for those who have lost everything.

I thought about Goats and Jwoo also and hope they are ok.

I am not surprised to hear about a particular mega church in Houston. So many are blind. Hope they now see the truth.

Thank you Ms. Sas and Shep for the sweet story of Otis....what a character! How can you not love that face and his determination?

Feline, thank you for your words of encouragementHug Boy....you both went through so much!

Kath, DD started school last week and her job yesterday. She was so happy she got into the Anatomy and Physiology class. She was 16th on the waiting list! Seventeen people didn't show up for the class so he gave the spots to those on the waiting list who came to lecture . He did warn the people who were enrolled that he would drop them if they didn't show up on the first day. DD must have spent at least 3 hours listening to the online lecture (and taking notes) that the professor sent out a few days before class started. I am glad she listened to her mama and persevere. She needs to work hard in this class though as there are a lot of materials to cover. The body is such a complex and amazing thing. How could we come from nothing?

DD2 of course loves having her sister home and so is Mitzy.

    Patty, thank youHug

    Mari, thanksNerdy

    Hello to my other Friends.

    Oh...it's Wacky Wednesday!

Shep, I've reread Otis's story several times. Such a character. He's like Tramp from "Lady and the Tramp". Tramp being the dog with a route that everyone knew and fed.

If O'le Roy dog food doesn't take and make a commercial with him they are foolish. Their treats are the best except discontinued, but I don't shop at Walmart much.

Eeeyor YAY. Glad you are okay, sorry for everyone else. Flooding is the worst. At least with the wind when it's gone it's gone. Here very often the water that landed is dried out by the wind.

Plus, when we moved here it was different lot's of flooding. But our county is very very active on identifying flood areas and correcting drainage. We also, have a division known as "Surface Water Management". They develop swale systems. The difference is a swale is designed to take X amount of water with the earth able to absorb so much, with the wind able to pick up the rest, with the plan it's gone in 48-72 hours. A retention pond dug too deep doesn't allow for the evaproration.

The county north of us is Volusia.....always flood stories. They aren't as proactive with contractors and no surface water management. Obviously, Harvey wouldn't have been managed. But I am happy with the stuff that has been done here.

I do however carry flood insurance which isn't required. It's now $450.00 per year. I figure it's a weekend away, with the trade off of peace of mind. 75% of all flooded home are not insured.

Just had a call from and extended niece--my Dh Greg's sister's step daughter. In Baytown Texas, We are fb friends. She was in a shelter . I told her to call. She got a great rate for 3 days on expedia. 89$ per day. I said I pay for it if she got double beds and took three friends. Her real family offered no help and and close family in Memphis offered no lodging.

Littlegoats told me about a child that was already enrolled in her local school. She figures they had family in the area

My sister in Michigan put her name on a list to take in for an extended period for a family.

This isn't going to be over for years.

DUh, I could offer, but there isn't a room that isn't destroyed by the bathroom make over.

MammaRay, well suppossin it's a true kindness, wishing her family stepped in. But having a clean bed and shower is so important. Not sure what they will do after the 3 days. But it's certainly better than nothing. I give kudos to expedia and Hampton that they didn't gauge on prices. There have been reports of awful gauging.
