Mommy, so funny, Hope you weather the high temps well. Ironically in central Florida our history doesn't go above the 90's. Heat idex is something recent. We have storms almost daily. Then an hour later everything is dry, but humidity high.

Queenie, seriously suggest you somehow play with touchscreen. So fast.

PULEESE. I do want a new computer. This one is like a POS. WWhy do I put up with for ever so long before I buy something new? For something that irritated me this long , I'm too cheap? Thinking . I know we went through the advice before. Sorry. I am just ssoooooooooo cheap. I said I purchased the IT package from HP. So, likely should stay with HP b/c it covers all devices for 5 years. Frugal is another word. But cheap is the reality

Queenie, so get your words. I just wish I could say on any new purchace what is the best. AND Poof, the answers comes without any work.

Junie, those glasses are an enigma. I see characteristics of several. Looked a few up. Didn't work. If they were mine, I'd spend days seeking an answer. Now lazy.. But will play with them.

JUnie, Whats this clot thing you never talked of it before?????? Loverly said you were put on maybe Xarelto. It has no reversal agent. I dislike the whole group of drugs for that reason. Exactly what vein? What relationship to compression stockings? We will talk. To many details.

working on it. Thinking Champagne flutes from the Avon pattern of Cape Cod

    Nothing on the search.

Where did your friend find these?

Dutifully went through many sites and 17 pges on Ebay.

So, 1. they' re fun. 2. they are not easily identified. 3. they are unique b/c they can't be easily identidied by a usual glass sleuth.

What happened when many of the glass companies went under over the years was they would sell their patterns and formulas's to the receiving company as part of the take overs. As glass production declined in the USA,other countries bought the molds and recipes. Particularly, China. Not sure about other countries. Never saw any other names buying molds other than China, but it seems reasonable they would.

This has the shape of a flute. But it is very heavy i.e the bowl is very thick. Flutes are, generally, very light

The collar is Diamond point------diamond point is a common glass work.. No clue when it was first interduced. The rest of the bowl I have seen witht he Avon collection. Couldn't peg this to that group. The cuts are usual to many cut glass. But But this is very heavy, not fine cut class.

But that doesn't make it not useful at all. Glass that looks and feels great in the hand, with an unknown value from dollars to thousands can be a very nice feeling.

My working glasses are Wexford--Anchor-Hocking. Tough glasses, great on the hand for texture and gripping. They stand up to the dishwasher just fine.

As if Monday being wicked hot wasn't bad enough, Tuesday is going to be just as hot!

Sas, I live in the Ft. Myers area when I was younger for two years and I was miserable. I’d visit friends we have down there, but I could never live there again.

Mommy, the oddity is northern folks move here to Florida. Florida folks move north to Georgia, and the Carolina's . As you say, it has to do with the heat.. If Ac wasn't available most of Florida would be empty.. I like where we are at. central florida. Odd place across from the space centers. Musk's and the governments. A bedroom community for the space centers and orlando. Cheaap housing compared to elsewhere. Five cars is a traffic jam. Almost joking.

That’s what they say about the highway back home in Wisconsin where hubby and I want to retire to! But instead of it being 5 cars, it’s 4 cars is a traffic jam!

Yeah, I can imagine cold fingers aren't an issue in Florida. As for the touchscreen question, what I'd really like to learn how to use is a smartphone or tablet. I have a seriously retro cell phone (because in the past I've only yaknow ONLY used it for placing telephone calls) and a full size laptop.

Queen, Our senior center has classes to discuss smart phones and help people decide what they want. I have an iPhone and a Mac desktop. It would be lovely to have a tablet as well. My friend used one to take photos in Morocco and it labeled them with the place automatically. Really nice because after a while, all the mosques look alike.

(definitely interested) i'm coming to realize that the time is coming when I'll need a device with photography capability AND internet connectivity. That said, I'd be more inclined to the PC-compatible variants.

    Yep, Sas. We do!!!!!

Keeping an eye on the weather in northwestern Wisconsin. They have been getting a lot of rain and now I have seen reports of flooding back there so bad that some of the roads are being closed and traffic being detoured. Most of my family and friends back there are under a tornado watch until 9 p.m. their time.

Mommy hope the family does well. I go any where near a big city now, it's just tooooo busy. One hour from Orlando. Haven't been to an attraction in years. Not even Harry Potter. That has to do more with price. I should break down and do HP b/c I have some found money. I could pay for the kids and us. Hmmmmmm that sounds like fun

    So far everyone is okay.

Watching the Weather Channel at the moment and I yelled at the TV because one of the nitwits on there was talking about some of the flooding going on back home where my family is and they were talking about one of the highways that is flooded out in areas and the dimwit goes "I think highway that goes into Superior is Highway 2 or something like that!" I looked right at the TV and yelled "Yes it is Hwy 2, you numbskull!" Must be getting old because I expected the twit on the TV to say "Ok, thanks for clarifying that!"

Mommy, Perhaps he doesn't know about Google Maps?

We use Verizon and have had coverage almost everywhere we've been. Exception was the middle of nowhere, Oregon.

    Mommy

I read that you’re from Wisconsin? What part? How did you end up in Connecticut? My ex in laws retired to a little town in Wisconsin called Dallas. They bought land 20 years ago, and it was nothing but trees. I remember thinking, why would they want to live so far in the country? Well, the nearest place with any civilization is Rice Lake, which is 20 minutes away, and basically just a Wal Mart.

The first time I ever saw a white Christmas was in 1994, at the age of 25. The ex in laws were living in the twin cities at the time. I was so mesmerized. It was so beautiful, just like a Christmas card. I love Minneapolis, and could have lived there if it wasn’t for the bitter cold. Can’t deal with below zero temperatures.

Before Paul’s(my ex husband) parents retired in Wisconsin 11 years ago, they had done a lot of work, building a big shelter for the four wheelers, and other stuff. Of course, they built a house, and with the many acres of land, I finally understood why they chose to live there. Paul, our daughter, and me would go twice a year. I miss it so much, especially the four wheelers, and seeing many deers. I loved his extended family, and the reunions every year. I have to say, never have I seen people who love so much beer. Ughhhhh😝😝😝

Sorry to get carried away, I guess I just got nostalgic. Paul and I have been divorced for 5 years, so he and our daughter go every summer. Reece loves it. In fact, they are flying up next week. Have you ever been snowmobiling? I always wanted to try it. Well, maybe someday.

By the way, how is everyone?

Even when I don’t post, I lurk through here, and enjoy reading you ladies stories every evening, well almost.

Junie, how are you feeling? Been thinking of you. You’re going through so much. Also you’re right, keeping busy has helped me so much.

    Sas

I think of Mags very often. I know you communicate with her. How is she doing, and feeling? Hopefully, I didn’t overstep. I also don’t want to invade her privacy. And Shep?

    Loverly

Where are you? Hope your family is well, and dear daughter.

Also, does anyone have updates on Patty?

Are you out for the summer from teaching? Any plans for vacation? I’m sure you love having a break from the students.

    Also, where is Kath?

Well, I’m lying in bed with my daughter, Mary, the fat cat, Nicole, the crazy one, and our kitten, Sebastian who loves to play, and instigate fights with Nicole. It doesn’t get any better than this.

    Good Night All😴😴😴

Jaymeb, I was born in Superior. How I ended up on the East Coast was a year after my Dad passed, my Mom moved me, my older brother and my older sister out to Rhode Island where my Mom's older brother lived at the time. Grew up mostly in Rhode Island with a 2 yr stint in Florida after my Mom remarried. We moved back to Rhode Island after my baby sister was born in Florida and her health was impacted by the Florida weather. End up in Connecticut after I met the guy who is now my hubby of 14 years. We plan on moving to Wisconsin after hubby retires from his state job here. We are either going to build a house or buy one out there.

    Hello Ladies,

Well I met with the neurosurgeon on Monday and he showed me my bone scan films. Explained everything going on in my Lumbar spine. Mainly arthritis, however T11 is a whole different story. The film showed my T11 as a large white blob, which the neuro explained is the MBC. We discussed the surgery he would do if the cancer is still contained in just the one vertebrae. But first I have to get a PET scan next Thursday to see if the cancer has spread to any of my organs, etc. If not then I can have surgery. If it has spread then no surgery, but other treatments will be discussed. I see my MO on July 2nd, so now it is just wait, wait ,wait. Can I scream now? Then yesterday I get a letter in the mail saying that my radiation oncologist is leaving the hospital she's been at for 13 years and is moving to Northern California. She's an excellent doctor and I'll miss her.

Junie - Thanks for the update. Good news about the lumbar, and not so good about the T11. Your picture is PERFECT, and I can well imagine I'd feel the same. This completely sucks! I'm so sorry you're going through all this...so freaking unfair! News like this always makes me angry at cancer. Are they sure the white blob is MBC? Is there any chance it's not? I'm not a religious person at all but I'm praying in my own way that your PET is clear and that the final word is better than what you've been told so far. Scream, cry & vent here as much as you can/want. These are rough times and we want to be here for you, offering all the support that might make a small dent in your wait. I wish I could offer more comforting words, just know I'm thinking of you and feeling your pain. Keep us in the loop! Big huge hugs!!
