Mags! - So good to see your post. ;0)

Egads - I found this "Roasted Cauliflower Rice " recipe on Skinnytaste.com and it looks like it will be quite tasty. Finally I have a reason to see all that my food processor is able to do.

Do y’all just love my new avatar pic? Puffy prednisone cheeks and a Mohawk! Well the Mohawk is gone now, just a millimeter of stubble all over, and what a relief not to have to worry about hair for a while! No brushes full of hair, handfuls of hair, hair straying into my mouth or eyes - now if I could just lose the Taxotere nose drip! It really interferes with this nasal cannula I’m getting oxygen from!

    Feline!

(Speaking of which, look what Olivia is up to!)

Olivia checking out the shower? Wondering why you can't just lick yourself clean?

Feline, did you find the pages on W&F's regarding posting? A BCO sister taught me long ago. It was blessing. What was written on those pages were from multiple sisters. There is more than one way to skin an avocado. Avoiding the common old term.

Sas posts on Warm Fuzzies about how to post images? Yes thanks.

Appreciate the new term, for us cat lovers and vegetarians Smile

Paleo gals - Okey dokey, so the thread is finally up. I wrote for days on end and came up with WAY TOO MUCH info....think Encyclopedia Britannica. Worrying about turning people off, I tore it all down to a simple (yet still long-ish) thread. I hope it's a good start and am excited to see it evolve....even more excited to see good results for everyone. All are welcome to this thread...even the veggie peeps. Here is the link (under Fitness & Getting Back Into Shape setion):

I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day! Magdalene, I do love your new pic....and think you look awesome rocking your look!

Well we had a scare here in my city last night. There was an emergent alert for cyanotoxins in our water supply and of course everyone was quite freaked out. Every store in town was sold out of bottled water in short order. The 911 dispatchers were apparently overwhelmed by frantic callers as well. There is an algal bloom in the reservoir that supplies this city's water and the toxin levels have increased to above normal safety levels, healthy adults are still able to drink the water, but those who are immune-compromised, the elderly, children under 6 and pets are told not to consume the city water. On the other hand they say that it is ok to bathe, wash dishes and do laundry. Then this morning I see that the "Emergency Alert" was apparently called "Overkill", but the same warnings remain in place for the groups listed. Rather confusing!

Junie, how awful. Were you able to get out to get water? Odd that the city doesn't have water distribution centers. Are you on the EMS disaster list? Here each county service has to maintain a list of folks that need assistance. I asked Mags to post the info about the Omron. Model number and app info.

Egads, I'm a very bad student right now. In a non studying mood.

    Anyone hear from Shep?

Sassy, it worries me when you are asking if anyone hear from ShepK! I thought you, JunieB or Loverly will have direct contact with her! Please let us know if she survives the fire ok?

    junieb Member Posts: 945

Sas & Eeyore - I spoke to Shep a week ago and she said that she, DH and Pris are staying in a hotel for now, and that Ellie is at a boarding facility, I believe. She also told me that their whole house will need rebuilding and that could take a few mos. I just left her a message on her cell.

  • junieb
    junieb Member Posts: 945

I just received a text from Shep. She gave me permission to post here for her. She and DH are very busy dealing with the Fire Investigators, insurance adjusters, cleaners and salvage people, so she has been extremely tired from all of it, not to mention the pain she is having in her hip & leg. They are no longer in the hotel, but have been moved to a house very close to their burnt home. They will be staying there until the repairs on their home are complete, which could be several mos. Shep says Hi to all and that she misses everyone.

While I know all of this is stressful for them, I feel better knowing that Shep is doing Ok.

Goodnight to all. Sleep well! Good morning Feline!

Junie, thanks for the update. I’m glad they got into a house. But what an ordeal. Hopefully they get everything settled with insurance and all that quickly so the rebuilding can begin. Give Shep our love and let her know we are all thinking of her.

Eeyore I said last week I wouldn't be calling Shep b/c I know how these recovery operations are so stressfull with all the coordination. I left it to Shep to call me. Junie and Loverly text with her and each other. I don't have a cell phone, I only talk. :) They are all trying to get me to get a cell. I'm still resisting.

But,however, Shep called shortly after I posted. I can't add much to what Junie posted. Shep has high praise for all that are involved with them. Ellie is being boarded b/c she fell on Sheps scooter and messed up Shep's bad hip enough that she had difficulty taking her out. Her docs want her to go to Charleston to have the evaluated, but she's not going b/c of the house work. The house they are moving into sounds lovely & very spacious. The insurance company is buying the furnishings.

Glad to hear Shep is doing as well as possible under such stressful circumstances. Sounds like she is not going to let this particular big bump in life's road get the better of her. Heart

Feline, Shep is sounding good, that was very encouraging. She's finds the silver lining in every cloud.

OMD Insomniacs hasn't gone this quite since page 180.

    Update.

Mags is doing good. Oxygen turned her around.as did the Prednisone. Even went to a church event. Moving around better. CRP back to normal. WHOHOOOOOOOOOO

Loverly is in wine country with Dear Hubby (so romantic). DD1 (post head injury) is good and informed Loverly today that Mitsy isn't eating. The assumption is it's b/c Loverly is gone.

Junie has had a couple of bad days..........but we talked for a couple of hours..........now she is off to sleep. Waiting on bone scan results

Phyliss is starting a new trial chemo Monday. Had a tough recovery month from Gamma Knife.

Shep happy with how folks are treating her and all the stuff they are doing to determine why the fire occurred.

Me, I put Schatzi on prozac.three days go. The script/dispensing was two years ago. Loverly felt it was expired. but Oh well drugs last, the FDA requires expiration dates.

Poor Shats. Noise and barometric pressure are her downfall. Her anxiety has been a long standing issue. There was a horrible dog attack when she was 6 months old. (now 11 1/2) She wasn't hurt, but Greg and Rascal were. The medical bills between the two were just under $10,000. Nothing was recovered.for Rascal $2500. Basically, Greg was covered by my insurance. Greg was disabled at the time. Medicare covered some.

Sad, she's never been able to leave the front door without evaluating the front scenario. That dog has been dead for years. He's still in her mind. She's fearful of noise. Thunder shirt no longer works. Her anxiety level had so increased, I chose the Prozc route. Will evaluate till her yearly exam at the end of the month. Sucks. But can't see her being basket case.

Is this still an active topic--the last reply was 2011 until the edit 2 months ago? I'm always up til 3am at the earliest, enliven around 10pm, unfortunately it really adds to the few emotional days because no one else is awake and I'm asleep when they are. Don't usually let myself dwell on being lonely and not used to being weepy but tonight everything hit. I'll check in for a few weeks and see what's up. Thanks.

This is my first non-lurking visit and I guess I need to learn how to sign off because none of my info appeared on the bottom.

Stage IV at diagnosis last July, along with connective tissue diease diagnosed six months before that. I don't know anyone else who's close who had cancer and feel that maybe I'm not supposed to feel so sick and very tired all the time, maybe I'm just a weenie.

Wow, maybe I'm a weenie and not able to wead either--just saw that the most recent post goes to the bottom.

Rejoice, Hello sweetie, the last post here was on the 3rd of June. It's quiet now because the folks on this threead mostly connect by text or phone. We just got into a thing. But it does appear the thread is dead.

    NEW folks welcome YAY.

It was good. We spent two weeks in Wisconsin back in late April/early May. We were looking at property or a house to buy for our retirement years, plus we were seeing some of my family that are still there.

Mommy, get that. There were folks here at one time that described that we shouldn't open up here about what was important to us.This place was unique at on time. Drawing in all stages., with many thoughts, with many skills. There were many lurkers. The thread has seemed to die. Mommy you had a care about your Brother. Bummer. TOTAL bummer. The Steam room was a good place to go, very good place to go.

But if we were a group, here it is where we should have supported you. That is what makes me sad. You were here for years, and felt you needed to go some where else for support.

    Love you sweetie.
