Rose, I'm so sorry to hear about your troubles! Just because they're in the skull doesn't mean they're in the brain too. But you've been through a lot of pain and a lot of treatment and that can be very traumatic. I think for all of us it's a quality of life issue and sometimes we just feel we can't take it anymore. I think one thing that gives me courage is that at least we have some measure of control not over how things go but what we decide to do about it. And it is wonderful to have such an understanding and supportive community like the one here.

You lucky duck!!!! Chevy throw snow balls!

Ibgal- what you said is true. Skull mets do not mean it's in the brain, however skull mets do not generally produce any symptoms at all. You would only find them on film usually. I have had symptoms numbness, flashes of odd sensation that wouldn't be caused by skull mets, but are being caused by something.

My only question here is why is a man sleeping in this? Do they get hot flashes too?

  • Rosie, words fail me but you're in my heart and prayers.

Patty - so sorry you're back in the hospital.

Sheila - haven't seen the research on statins, coffee (and chocolate?) - have to look it up in my spare time.

Love the photos and the camaraderie here, even when I can't keep up with it. Thank you for letting me share it.

Yes! She gets snow-balls! I'll bean her with one.... I would DO it, but it's too cold out....Ha! You SEE how she just gets such a kick out of posting her beautiful yard, and palm trees and YARD? That is GREEN?

Well, I turned my bedroom around today.... I mean moved the bed and dresser, etc. It just feels so much cleaner, even though there wasn't even any dust bunnies under the bed. I changed and washed the flannel sheets.... put it all back together, and now I'm happy.... Even cut up 12 grapefruit into sections and froze them. They are on sale here, and I just LOVE them.... Those Texas Ruby Reds! 4/$1!! And I already bought 2 bags at Sprouts for $5.......

I'm going to fix a chocolate coke.... just to treat myself......

Oh? Did you used to say that? Ha, ha! Oh, me and my Brother used to get into sooooo much trouble throwing snowballs! And we survuved!

One time, they were remodeling our house, so the back yard was torn up..... And he decided to dig a CAVE! He dug it out.... put in a mattress that he drug up the alley, put in snacks, candles, and even a fire-place! And he put sheet-rock on top, with a place cut out for his "chimney"....

So I crawled down there one time, and the fire was going, and it was so cozy! Then he covered the chimney, and I started coughing, and gagging, and crying, and screaming, and Mom came running out of the house with Kenny standing on top of it all, and I thought I was dead.

We were too little to know what really could have happened.... and he has apologized to me so many times for damn near killing me.... Ha! I love him sooooooo much.... This is him....

    Chevyboy Posts: 10,258

Rosie.... YES, if there WERE any neighborhood kids, Ha! I don't know where all the "kids" are! There used to be tons in this neighborhood when I was growing up, but not any more... We are the oldest ones around.... All the neighbors are in their 30's and 40's..... And not many of them have little kids....

All of US could get together over here in my yard, and drag Spookie and Sass, and all the other warm/weather friends, and make them get into a snow-ball fight! And then we could come in my house and have drinks and snacks ..... and have a slumber party! Ha, ha! And watch Magic Mike!

If anyone still has questions about good insurance companies, I'll tell you not to count Pacific Life among them. Have them for my house insurance and wished I didn't. For the reason that when my house got broke into in Jan. 2012, whoever did it, took my hubby's laptop and the laptop he had gotten me for Christmas because I was taking more classes that spring, and some jewelry that wasn't worth much. But they also took a handmade ring that had belonged to my daddy and a pair of earrings that had belonged to my step-great grandmother after she passed away and a pair of pearl earrings that hubby had given me when I earned my Associates Degree. Well when we submitted the claim, they didn't reimburse us for the loss of daddy's ring and my step-great grandmother's earrings that were lost because we didn't have any receipts for those items.

Let me ask you this: how are you supposed to have receipts for items that are passed down from deceased family members, especially if one of those things was handmade like my dad's ring?

  • jazzygirl
    jazzygirl Posts: 12,047

Mommy- I have family heirlooms insured separately. I have an antique family ring from my mother worth a lot and was told to get a separate rider on it. I know most insurance policies won't insure jewelry very much, unless you have a rider for it. One of those things they rarely will tell you. I learned with family heirlooms too, take pics of everything as well. Really hard to loose these things to creepy thieves. Sorry you lost your dad's items, that stings.

When DD was at home, we had her music instruments on a seperate rider. Electronics should be.

A slumber party sounds fun, maybe at Sas's house. She has a pool.

Sassy- did you notice how blue and bare the map of NCCN centers were in the Pacific North West? There is no place to go. There isn't one in the entire state of Oregon. I would have to travel 1500 miles to hit one in Southern CA... then there is Seattle... land of moss and rain and drizzle. I tried Seattle in 2010 and it was a failure, oncologist refused to do any labs or tests. I left.

Hey there Blondie- I just found out if you scan me twice in 2 months my cancer vanishes! Of course it reappears in new spots. But that gives me hope that if I leave well enough alone the cancer will run out of food! There are some holes in this theory! I think I have spent enough money spinning wheels in sand getting conflicting answers or no answers, that letting nature do it's thing is the saner, cheaper, kinder and less aggravating path to managing disease. We are on the same path sister!

My kids will be sad and I am sorry to be leaving them, but they are strong and will do well. DH will manage well; he's organized! I will miss my furballs and my garden, but I will not miss cancerland, not this city or the people in it, or the healthcare system... or these miserable meds and the damn side effects or the achy breaky annoying bones.. free at last. The longer I ride this journey the more I see death as deliverance and not a punishment or stolen time.

I would like to come back as a monastic or a sea slug (very cool creatures, no enemies and they just boo-pop along in the ocean depths in amazing designs)... maybe a big lovely Doug Fir tree.

  • Rosie, I understand and support your choice to do what you need to do - as a fellow Oregonian I voted to retain the ability to do so. I'm so angry though that it comes to this - for you and for so many others. And I'm terribly, terribly sorry that you're in this place. I hope though that you somehow have comfort and peace and time with your family and furballs. I'm sure they are strong and capable but... I feel for them, as well as for you.

I apologize if anything I've said hits the wrong way. It's not meant to, and I've tried not to. I haven't known you very well or long - not like the rest of the women here but I sure as heck like you and care about you.

Yes Spookie.... a slumber party at Sassy's house.... BY the pool! We can have it catered..... Haaaaaaa!

And Blondie and Rosie will be there with bells on... YOU guys are my inspirations! I don't know when my time will be up either, but I want to face it head on like you gals do.

To go through sooooo much, and still facing the in-evitable..... But not today! All the rest of can do, is learn, and hope for your same attitude.... We ain't gettin' out of this either.... but for now, we are all together.... and I want so much for you two to be pain-free, at least for today.

Tomorrow is another damn day... You have to walk another mile in those shoes.... and we don't know what it's like.... but we're with you.... I'll always be here.... SOMEtimes with that brat Cammi...

Now SHE has problems too, but mostly to do with her phone jobs... I mean "job"..... I don't think she is healthy. She probably doesn't eat right either.... Oh never mind..... she'd probably get lost trying to find the house....

Hopeful.... Good Morning! If you ever said anything to anybody about something or someone, we probably missed it.... speaking for myself... so don't worry... Half the time I miss something tucked in a post, and it isn't until someone ELSE talks about it, then I have to go back... (no, back FURTHER) and find what I missed.

As long as you guys hang around here, and just talk about "stuff" we are all in this together....

So I guess my house is out for the slumber-party? It's 10 degrees out.... about 2-3 feet of snow piled up.... If you're into that sort of thing, I'll make it work.... if I have to.... Ha!

Now you KNOW Spookie what's ner name, will be up, searching for her phone, and walking out to take another picture of her damn yard and beautiful palm trees, and something green like "grass?" Is THAT what it looks like?

GOOD MORNING OWLIES, yes, anyone wanting to come for a sleep over is welcome. Even a few nights sleepover. Most beautiful month in Florida is April. Not to cool, not to hot. The doors and windows open. Up north folks find the pool is not too cold. No hurricane troubles. The weather is just stunning in April.  Spookie and Phyliss came last April. In light of the fact that the weather is just gorgeous in April, a visit invitation is extended to any Owlies that want to come. I'll pick you up at the airport. I have beds for 7. The van seats 7. Try for a +- 7pm arrival time that way you won't be traveling in the middle of the night leaving your home base.  An afternoon departure +- 3 pm figuring that at Orlando you need to be there 2 hours ahead..  I will send the DBF away during our visit. The air, sky, and weather is wonderful in April for recovering from ice & snow. Hope this works :)
