Patty, you have a beautiful family. I hope they spring you soon. It is NO fun to be incarcerated. Well, unless the drugs are good. And don't worry about sassy too much. She's used to me ignoring her advice! She's the best and she puts up with all of us for some obscure reason.

Heck now I've forgotten what I was going to post. Not my first time for that!

    Maybe sleep will come soon.

    Hello Ladies!

Well, I've gone back to page 730 to catch up a little. Sorry I haven't been on much this month. The loss of my BF's mom has just wiped me out emotionally and physically. Still battling a cold that came up the week we got back. It is easing though.

My grief is now compounded with the loss of Leonard Nimoy. He was my first love, and I am not sure I will get over his passing. .

Thank you everyone for your kind words and encouragement. it means so much to have you all here, sharing your lives and supporting each other. It is so wonderful to see, and gives hope no matter what is going on in life.

Very sorry to hear about DP. She was very sweet. And Raro as well. Condolences to everyone that was close to them. F*ck cancer.

I really hate cancer, but at the same time, am grateful to know you all. I have to find positives in this, and you are all definitely in that category.

Also, for the record, I enjoyed Neil Patrick Harris in his undies. what a dish!

i am also very jealous of all your snow, even though i know all of you are tired of it.

Rosevalley- Amelilia Island sounds so nice! We should all take spontaneous trips. It is good for the mind and body. Your aunt sounds like a hoot! That is a great ditty she taught you. I also enjoy classical music, and some opera. Did you ever get good bloodwork done on your kiddo? She sounds like a typical teen :) Re: different Drs/diff opinions: I think just as each patient is different, so is each dr's training, and experience. There is a reason they call it a practice. Each experience they have with each patient is different, and just like you, they have to do with what they have seen in their careers. Chinese bakery sounds heavenly! and *APPLAUSE* to you and your friends for saving that poor dog!

I am sorry for your weariness. But know that everyone will be very sad to see you go. I think everyone has the right to make that choice, and if you and your family are prepared, no one should stand in the way. You seem like an amazing woman, and the world will be the lesser for your absence.

MammaRay- I am not sure if you are still deciding, but I would go with my Dr. You can always add complementary treatments, but personally as a massage therapist and someone that whole heartedly believes that there are valid Eastern medical options, cancer is one of those areas that I think requires more force. Get 2nd, 3rd, 4th 20th opinions from drs. Whatever you decide, know that we are here to support you and send love. Party ideas? baseball season is starting soon- an afternoon at the batting cages might be fun for him? Or what Chevy said :) and whoa to being a doula! how exciting and congrats to her and you! and you are right, you have to be prepared. Really kids or no, cancer or no, "getting your house in order" should always be a priority.

Momof2- Did you make to the candle store? I have a Bath and Bodyworks candle problem myself. Sounds like your kitten is precocious. I use pain dropcloths from Big Lots as slip covers. They are inexpensive, washable, and durable. And i dye them too. Sorry to hear you had issues with your "girls" hopefully no more!

Chevyyyyyy- Thank you for always being funny, sweet, and throwing in a pearl of wisdom with your wit! Your friend Jackie is pretty smart. the DBF and I go to Red Robin all the time! those fries! and they have vegetarian options, which for me, is awesome. Your neighbors sound like they shouldn't have pets ggrrrr

Susan- Hope you are doing okay these days. Nice to see you here more. It is great that you can tussle with your ONC and he pays attention. How was your visit with your daughter? Glad DH had a successful surgery.

Sas- Holy crap! OD on chemo? WTH? please tell me someone got fired. Glad you go tot visit Spookie and see your DR to get the answers you needed. I like this "counseling with cake" idea you have!

Smaarty- Woohoo Ireland! where all are you going? I can't wait to see photos! Your GS's quilt is awesome! he looks so proud. That FRIENDS photo, so true. and what you said- i feel the same. LOVE your quilts, esp the bees! and a big fan of Chihuly. amazing work. And that view! the spiders are neat.

Jazzy- What kind of consulting do you do? Congrats on your weight loss! What instruments do you play? I always try to donate usable items to the women's shelters and animal shelters first. They always need all kinds of things, and you know they will actually USE them. That Cloudcroft photo- just fantastic! and that pool- looks perfect! Hooray for a great checkup!

Wren44- How are you doing? A dear friend of mine lives in Seattle now, and he takes the bus to and from work. Seems to have 50/50 luck with the service. I am so surprised that the transit there isn't better planned. It's hard for those of us not living there not to giggle at the tunnel there. I mean, really! I can't imagine that he firm they hired will never get any work again.

Ibgal- thanks for your input and for joining in! What made you decide on research? Sounds like you have your hands full with a 7 year old and glad you finally got a pooch that won't make you sneeze. So happy to hear that your lungs are fluid-free! And that tangerine tree- so jealous!

Magdalene- Have you tried coconut oil for your eczema? I hope you are feeling a bit better and are almost done with your rads.

Maddie- You find the cutest pictures! Thank you for doing roll call. How are you feeling? xoxox Great photo of you gals getting together! where is Badger lately?

MostlyMom- omg those scooters are awesome! I agree though, a sewing machine is way better. 4 years out from dx- that is pretty amazing! Glad you are here. Happy Birthday!!

Cami- Hope you are staying warm up there! Your Joey just seems like the sweetest kid. What do you mean you will have 2 phones to screw up at work? Is your boss starting another business, or are you working at 2 different strip clubs? oH chit- necrophilia!!!! i can't stop laughing!! That is fantastic!! Brandy in your coffee, eh? well- make it the best part of waking up!

Beachbum- Sitting under a tree in the park listening to an orchestra? sounds heavenly! I use duct tape for just about everything. I used to have a car that was mostly tape. Duc it or f*$@ it! was my motto! Handiest thing in the house. Hope you are staying warm. Summer is just around the corner! Hurray rads are done! My friend Sarah just won "the golden whisk" of Duff till Dawn. She's in Ohio as well, along with her team mate Timbo. Lots of cake making in the great state of Ohio! I love beach glass. I like the way it feels in your hand. So great that you are donating your body- I am thinking of doing the same.

Hopeful- hope you are feeling less blue! Also surprised that Portland has bad mass transit. With the number of students, and tech ppl, you would think they would have it worked out. BUT- i live in Austin, and we can't seem to get ANY mass transit working correctly around here. It is a disaster.

Spookie- I love that you and Sas can get together! Whatcha smokin in the car, huh?? You are going to cause a riot posting those warm temperatures. Great photo of you Sas, and Phylo

PattyPepper!! Get out of the hospital and stay out! <3 Glad your back is better Your attitude is amazing though all of this. Please hug your DH from all of us. and happy bday to DS1! great photos of the DH and kiddos

Kjones! hope you are doing well! We haven't seen you in so long.

Holin1- Those sherbet cups are pretty! How is your shoulder? I loove that little candy dish that looks like a cloud. Cruise might be fun, but i think i would rather hit Zion. Being out on a boat like that scares me.

Tang- Glad your BRACA came back neg! that lump has gotta be scar tissue. No need to panic. Gotten your results yet?

Dutchie- I hope you have been able to get some rest. whatcha been up to? My ONC also wants me to look into the SOFT trial results, and we are talking about switching me up. I have a LOT of questions about it all though.

Blondie- sweet Blondie! cast's off- yay! How long are you in rehab now?

Teka! that is a BEAUTIFUL woodpecker photo! how ya doin'? was that you with Smaarty?

Footprints- always wonderful when you post. I hope your breathing is getting better. Happy to hear your service dog is learning for you.

Pawprint- good to see you here. Hoping your stomach bug departs soon. Please go to the dr for that!

3rdtime- it has been too long since we've seen you. So happy to hear that you are finally getting some sleep. Hoping they can get your bone pain under control.

PHYLLIS! - you better grab those cowboys! So happy to see you post. Almost done with rads- you got this!

Yoga-girl- Welcome and thanks for that info- very interesting.

Tbryer- welcome to you as well. I hope you are well, and that you can keep up with the antics on this board! Don't let us scare you off!

Enerva- how is Ontario? Getting to do much riding in this weather?

OK- it is 5am- i should try to get some sleep.

If any of you are on AIs and also ovarian suppression and are willing to chat about things, let me know. My ONC is keen on the SOFT study, and it does look like the results are very promising.

Thank you all for being so amazing.

WTH Jwow! You are sooooooo organized! And you spaced, and paragraphed, and I can even understand you! Wait till Cammi sees THAT!!!

Peppermint! You LIKE texting? Although it does makes sense about not having to talk if someone is long-winded...

Uh-oh..... you mis-behaved. You did a test? But maybe they will learn something from it?

I had a "test" one time... YEEEEARS ago... My allergies were sooooooo bad I couldn't even HEAR. This Doc gives you this standard pollen shot... filled with all kinds of stuff that most people are allergic to... IN ONE SHOT!!!! To "see if I had allergies".....

Didn't seem so bad at first... but then I was standing there, and slid down the wall! They came running, and gave me another shot of Adrenalin, which will sit you right back up so you run a mile in an instant! Said something about Anaphylaxis something or other.

Got home okay, then started breaking out in these HUGE welts... I mean all over! Called the emergency number back... THOSE dinks said I was supposed to take the 6 pills they gave me ALL AT ONCE when I got home... not space them out over a few hours.....

I survived. Don't think anyone in their right mind does THAT test anymore. But in THOSE days, the allergy shots were just becoming standard... I finally sought help from a REAL Doctor... an allergist, and after all THOSE tests, the first allergy shot I got, I could HEAR! Blah, blah!

And don't go chewing gum.... and sticking it behind your ear. Did that once too.

    Yes... new Smiley's !!

And Rosie got a new car!!!!!!!!!! Yayyyyyyy! Is it yours too, or just his? My DH would never figure out all the doo-dads... I mean it was hard enough for ME, as brilliant as I AM to get MINE figured out! I don't have that back-up camera though...

My friend HAS one, in her car... get this.... I said "You got a TV in your car?" Then she explained! And when she backed up I thought for sure we were going to hit those cars! Takes awhile for my brain to connect stuff.

Yeah, don't ask Phyllifromthebighouse anything ABOUT the big-house. She will tell you! Like her exploits with Big Alice, or who-ever......

Hah! You forgot what you were going to say? I hope you are sleeping now....... THEN come back and post..... at least try to.

    Morning JWoW!

I don't know HOW you keep track of everyone!!! Fun reading about your opinions and stuff... I LIKED Neil Patrick, but not so much in his underwear...

I guess ANYthing for a laugh, but there is so much of that going on today, I guess I'm just getting tired of all the reality shows that do ANYthing for publicity, a laugh, or a show, or for shock value.

Yes, Red Robin is expensive, for a "hamburger" joint, but their Fish & frys are VERY good!

Warming up here now! And at least for the next week....

My onc is at a conference of some sort. She may get more info from her colleagues at Sloan-Kettering regarding the trial results. I should hear within a week or two. If I am switch to an AI and it is unbearable, going back to Tamoxifen is an option.

Oh....and good morning to everyone! Coffee makes everything better.

  • Today I am singing " I will survive " by Gloria Gaynor. And staying alive by bee gees. I am finally going Home today. Yes !

Monetary cost of 18 days in the hospital = outrageous

Physical and emotional cost to my body = complete exhaustion

Going home sweet home = priceless.

Not quite up to dancing but hoping you ladies will dance for me.

    Hootie Hoo

  • also singing Celebration by Kool and the Gang. Celebrate good times ..come on. Actually that's all I remember of that song. Anybody know of another happy song for me today?

Good morning insomniacs. I see you have been busy since I visited last!

Peppermint Patty- I am so glad to hear you will be going home. This one is for you!

    I will survive!

JWoo- I am a project manager. I do work in various industries, more recently in healthcare but making a move away from that as it has become too much for me. My new work will focus on smaller projects for private industry and government.

I am sorry about Leonard Nemoy too. He is a legend and was loved by many. Hugs to you during this time of loss on all fronts.

Thanks to everyone for the kind wishes after my BS visit yesterday. Always a big "whew" when I come out of that office. Two years post treatment now ladies. My BS also thought I had never looked better and she saw me at my absolute worst a few years ago so that means something to!

Happy Daylight Savings Day all of those here in the US. Don't forget to turn the clocks ahead.

  • Hello all, Let's all celebrate the arrival of Spring. Well I do have a lot of snow, and a lot of ice, and it's pretty cold today, but this is Spring in Ohio! We take what we have. And it sounds way better than winter. We all survived the coldest February in Cleveland - ever! The average temp was 14 degrees. So way ready to get outside and walk! Have a great weekend everyone!

Jwoo - thank you for taking time to answer each of us individually! You are awesome. I decided to do research because I felt quite unhappy with what we can currently do for patients in terms of treatment. Looks like I am in the wrong field (obesity and diabetes). Should have researched breast cancer! And thank you for mentioning my tangerine tree- it's more decorative than useful cause the fruits are sooo sour! :)

Jazzy, yes in regards to stalkers on BCO. I know of 5 including myself. Of those 5, 1 left b/c she didn't want to deal with it. 2 changed their names. 1 went to lurking only but would answer PM's. I chose to fight it by using the law. Of the threads I have started most include a statement about playing nice. That was b/c of the early gals that I knew that were being stalked. My stalkers were not common to the other four. If there were that many that I know of, I'm guessing that it's a BCO problem like anywhere else. Mods were involved with all the cases.  Yay about the good news :)

Hopeful, I agree on getting lawyer review. I have redone my legal stuff three times--70's,90's, then after Dh died in 2010. Each time done by a lawyer. But if someone doesn't have the money, there is a means to complete the paperwork. Rocketlawyer I used to do a promissory note. I was impressed with the process. You can't fill in the blank spaces without doing it right. Rocketlawyer is a law firm. They have done this as a means to drum up business. After the trial period it's X amount of dollars per month.

With the Dacey book--How To Avoid Probate. I redid my paperwork in the early 90's b/c the lawyer paperwork of the 70's was seriously lacking. Dacey's book teaches as well as provided blank forms. I wasn't happy after reading his book, then reviewing my documents. The first lawyer did not do the job right. Having the paperwork redone in the early 90's I was better prepared to have the new lawyer complete the job.

Patty, Phyliss is right, I'm used to being ignored LOL. Yay you are going HOME

Jwoo  hope you start feeling better soon :). Nimoy--will be missed.

Sassy- I laughed when you said you considered yourself a stalker! Did you get in trouble with the mods? And what is the difference between stalker and lurker? I sometimes lurk, but don't post as I don't always have anything useful to add to a particular topic. I would never harass anyone here. Women should be here to help and support each other on this site, right?

I have been cyber-stalked before by two men I knew from junior high school. Seriously, junior high school some 30 plus years later! One just has a crush on me from younger years, the other started sending me messages all over the place from all the social media sites. The later got really creepy with me and said he was coming out to the area where I lived and wanted to see me. Then I got scared. I called the police on him, told him to cut the $)%$# unless he wanted a visit from the cops in his neck of the woods. Cyber stalking is a federal crime.

He told me he was a lawyer. Really? Then you should know better dude. And by the way, I am the Queen of England. LOL!

Patty you can add the song-"That's way I like it huh huh...That's the way I like it!" or to pull one out of my Mom's record bin Englebert Humperdink..."please release me let me go..." May you be homeward bound!!

Wow Jwoo... do you take notes? Geez. Amazing. I can't remember things as well as I used to.

Ibgal- continue research on diabetes because it causes more suffering then cancer and is an awful disease worthy of all the attention we can throw at it.

Chevy- DH's car his baby. The mirrors are kind of neat.. split shows what's behind and one lane over. Then the back up camera which is good in this neighborhood. We are up from an elementary school 500 kids and a highschool 1500 kids... many wear all black and skate board zipping down the sidewalks on dark morning.. Shoot I have nearly nailed them. He seems very happy with his choice. I am happy it isn't a Passat.. the worst. I told him NO GERMAN cars. Sorry I have racist views on cars... Asian or American only! I am happy with my Dodge.

Got a headache this morning, very sunny and gorgeous out. I took a antihistamine last night and I think that's the reason. It's a dooosey! DH and DD headed up to Cabin to unstuck the door and fix a few things. I am painting a bedside table, sanding first then painting it. It's 15 years old and so many marks and dings.. time to freshen up. Then while things are drying I need to spray rhodies and azaleas for bugs, before the flowers come. We have lots of bees and I do not want anything to hurt the bees. So any spray has to be done before the flowers open. We have had some tragic bee die offs because of folks indiscrimminate spraying. It's even been on the news. We have some of these lace wing bugs and have lost 2 plants.. normally we don't spray.

This morning my DD presented us with a magazine on Bible stories and a bunch of comments learned from her classmates. Did you know that God causes earth quakes because folks are bad and it's God's punishment? There were human giants that roamed the earth before dinosaurs... on and on. Needless to say my DH and his love of science went to work on crushing the myth of behavior causing earth quakes. We also reafirmed that our family does not believe in heaven or hell, that these are human constructions. I want to know why this is coming home from a state school???? Oy.. If they were handing out Muslim literature there would be an uproar, but this is quietly sanctioned and is evangelical Christian. There are many many Catholic kids at the school so I wonder what their folks think? What do the Jewish kids think and the Buddhist children; I am not happy about this. My kid said she was curious. I told her curiosity was good, but don't believe everything you are told.

This is my favorite video of the week, in honor of what would have been Karen Carpenters 65th birthday. One of my very earliest favorite music groups and the first concert I ever saw. So many good memories with this video...

Rose, you said it. Evangelical Christian. If the other religions, beliefs, get equal time to present their views, it's legal. If the others can't, if that school receives even one cent of Federal $$, they have a problem. At least that's the way I hear it here.

Jazzy! I love that song too! Anything by the Carpenters....

Rosie, I just know we do everything we can do, to influence our kids...

When our oldest started off to College, she was telling us about all SORTS of hair-raising religions going on there, AND they do have "enrollments" with all of them! I tried not to listen.... and yes, I was worried... but she survived....

My Mom was Nazarene, but we were baptized Protestant, but we went to an Episcopalian church. DH's family was all Catholic..... Before we got married I took Catechism thinking I would turn Catholic, because HE was...

But my folks had moved out of town, we couldn't afford a big wedding, NOR a church.... And I didn't like that when I would ask questions regarding Catholicism, the Priest told me not to question, to just "believe".... especially about children, and why is the baby more important than the Mother.... and blah-blah...

So I don't know what I am.... I just know I am Spiritual, and believe in God.... and Jesus, but then there is the conflict about is this ONE man? Or two?.... And never mind about the Holy Ghost.... So what-ever....

Kids will take the lead from their Parents.... I just thought it was really "cool" to go to Church with my girlfriend, to her Catholic Church, and all the statues, and when I would walk IN, and it just felt like I was in a magical holy place. Our Daughter's were babtized Catholic, because my In-laws were sort of raising hell.... although none of THEM ever went to church!

I also thought "confession" was sort of repititious, because what-ever was "confessed" then you were free to go ahead and mis-behave, and then confess that AGAIN the next week! I thought they CAN'T be really TELLING what they are doing, can they? I mean I KNIEW what they were doing.

I just would think it very interesting to know about each religion.... I don't think ANY of them are free of fault.... I just like to believe like I do, and live every day like it is a wonderful gift.... and pray every night for another one.....

SASS!!! I made that DISH again! THIS time with 1/2 Kale, and 1/2 spinach, plus the Ricotta cheese, Romano cheese, bacon bits, steak seasoning, lemon rind stuff.... some of that spaghetti water AND capers! Hah! THIS time it is even more deliciouser.. I mean delicious-ness.... delicious-est.

    It's good, anyway.

I just remember that one time, years ago, I was at my darkest point... I was so alone..... I found this Church.... and every Sunday, they opened their service with this song, and video.... It was like this was just for me.... It just hit home..... And "believing" and friends, and "time" took care of this whole darkest hour... actually months.... Thank God.....

Spookiesmom- Yes if these booklets were given in the spirit of teaching tolerance and understanding, equal air time to Mormons, Catholics and Muslims and Buddhists then my attitude would be "Tolerance and understanding is WONDERFUL and spreads peace and not fear." I do not think this is the case. I really do firmly believe that more teaching of world religions and explaining rituals and beliefs with the attitude of respect, curiosity and education would make our world a more peaceful place. People fear what they don't understand. There is room for all with the right attitude and respect for equality and religious freedom. America is a shining example of tolerance and religious freedom. Ithink parents should have a say in what comes home too. :-\

As for us we started out Quaker and then morphed into a Buddhist blend. Buddha summed it up-"Be a light unto yourself!" I really can sink my teeth into Engaged Buddhism- ala Thich Nhat Hanh. Plus my adopted children both came from Buddhist countries and it's their legacy. I went to a Catholic Franciscan college and learned to have much respect for many different belief systems. I enjoyed the Franciscan Sisters. It pains me to see only one view portrayed as the "ultimate truth" at the expense of the richness and "truth" of other religions. I want my kids to have an open heart and an open mind!

Teka- that is what I thought, I was just teasing Sassy. But seriously, cyber-stalking of any form is a federal crime. I just wanted to be sure everyone knows that in case you ever find yourself on the receiving end of that experience (ugh).

Hi Cami- thanks for the good wishes! I am busy and in good health.

I am working on some laundry/spring cleaning and watching a funny movie on HBO I saw years about called the Tao of Steve. Heading to the pool in awhile to swim and then soak in the hot tub (the rewards at the end).

jazzy,. LOL. You miss read that----Your question was are there stalkers on BCO. Yes there are stalkers on BCO I know of 5 that were stalked Including myself. Teka's got it right. I was the stalkee not the stalker. That's really creepy about that guy. Wasn't aware there is a federal law on cyber stalking. Lurking is light years from stalking.

Teka, Thanks for defining LOL. Answer to your question--yes, likely,

Rosie---good the door will be unstuck, incase you want to run away again.......There is a controversy in Florida on curriculum and how the religions are being presented, but not well versed and not into researching it...........I should the little I heard on the radio wasn't good.

Sassy- I am sorry you were stalked. Damned weirdos.

Yes, I was told by the cops and later by an attorney that it is a federal crime. Just good to know if anyone is in that situation, assume you KNOW who is stalking you. Here on the threads, I am sure that would be hard to know but the mods will handle it.

Whose excited about daylight tomorrow night?
