So miss Spooky.... I have been coloring my hair since I was 21.... and teasing it, and wearing those big barrel curls in those hair-pieces.... So I wouldn't know who it was, when I looked in a mirror, if I went commando! That means nothing on my hair.... Ha!
My Grandma always used to say I was going to be bald if I kept teasing my hair....
Well I STILL do, and it hasn't hurt it yet.... YOU on the other hand have beautiful white hair! So does Sass!No you don't get no discount.... you aren't old enough.... You have to be 77.... It's only 10% besides.... Ha! I asked the gal today, "Is that with the Senior discount?" And she didn't know I was a "senior".... Hah! But I straightened HER out real fast! I told her I was 56... so I qualified.
She's probably still laughing....

WAIT! I am now drinking a white Russian! Yes I am! Vodka, with Kahlua, and milk.... ! You guys want one too?

Chevyboy - my late night "entertainment" days are long behind me! And sadly, I never got paid for any pole dancing that I did in my drunken college days. I work for "The Man" now. I'm the meanest of the mean because I tell cops where to go and they listen to me. I had to be back early today (1 PM being early for me!) or I would have still been up until dawn--I'm trying to work all the overtime that I can until C-Day on the 28th so I can comp more leave into my sick bank in case I need it further down the line.
1st photo is the furry babies "helping" me change the sheets. The big guy is Athus, a full-blood German Shepherd. The smaller guy on the right is "Nichya" (short for Okhotnichya, a type of spiced Vodka because he really drove me to drink when he was a puppy!). Nichya is a cross between a German Shepherd and a Belgian Malinois.

Ms. Chevy, I am laughing too over here!! OUCH!!! Ooooohhhhh..my fake boobs. Had to press gently down on them when I laugh, sneeze, or cough. And they are only pre-teen size!!!
Big Sister Jazzy, I have to wait another 9 years before I can claim the discount at Ross. You are taking the Advair twice daily religiously right?
Ms. Sass, wow!!! You have one very clever boy there and he is only 30?
Wren, I know who to go to next time to look for advice on caring for a pet

Jazzy- I was thrilled when I got my discount at Ross, now I am 56.. old news. Still appreciate that 10%. I can't believe I would intimidate a flea loverof life... my kids just totally blow me off. I can intimidate our youngest dog... "OFF now!" What "magical powers"... hmmm not. ;-)
Marlana- Love the fur kids. I was chased by a army vets bomb dog as a kid (scared me to death), then treed on top of an above ground pool by a friends Germand shepard barking and snapping. I am afraid of German Shepards. Beautiful dogs and my DD2 just loves them. I used to work with a nurse who raised the Belgian Malinois, but her dogs were long haired and smaller- not so intimidating, very soft with fluffy ears. Are your Shepards trained for police work or just pets? They look so innocent sleeping away..who us eat up a dog bed???
Congrads on the court win, proud Mom/ Sassy. Howdy to all I missed. Chevy you dye your hair? I wanted to add that I loved the dancing border collie and her master.. amazing clip. I watched a few after that. Thanks for the post!

Chevyboy... Count me in.. I'll have a double !

Loveroflife- yes, Advair 2X a day. My breathing was better Sunday and Monday but we had humidity and storms move in last night and that made it bad again. It is sunny and warm today, but tomorrow night into Thursday, it is going to rain again. In general, I am better since I started on the Advair but still have some more "congested" days.
I just saw there is a tornado warning some where in the state too.
Forecast says we should be clear after Thursday for awhile, but will have to see about that.
Luvmygoats- I heard TX was going to get like 5 to 6 inches of rain today. Are you doing okay?

Awww Athus and Nichya are so cute and innocent looking. Are you sure it wasn't the neighbor's cat(s) roughing up the house? You know cats are known to destroy things and then blaming it on the dogs. My older daughter and hubby love GS and I like them too but they shed furlike crazy. With my OCD there is no way I can handle them.
This is Xena, my younger Sis GS, with one Furminator session

And this is her in the back of my Sis' car moving to Florida

Loveroflife-holy crap that is a lot of fur! Someone could crochet a blanket with that.
The doggy is adorable, but looks a bit sad in the back of the car on her move to FL. Doesn't she know Sassy and Spookie live there?
0 -
you sleep well not worrying about break ins with those two!! I have ankle biters who would watch the bad guys remove my stuff.

I hear you. I had repairman get down on the floor with out stretched arms laughing saying "come on killer"... my barking border collie swooped in and flipped over to have her belly rubbed. Great! Now show him where the goods are! Our little terrier makes a racket, but at 16 pounds you could squash her like a bug. That GS does look so sad in that back seat.

nope this you can't get to sleep prednisone I'm up until now about 1 or 2 maybe I go to sleep if I turned it off like I was reading. doctor at doctors on Friday keep your fingers crossed that he lets me go to Florida I want to go for 2 weeks hopefully you will agree. yep days you lover is a godsend and me tell you she has been so good to me and she's coming back in 2 weeks she is going to b tired oglooking at me.

Loveroflife--she's adorable! My family got our first shepherd when I was 8 and I've had one or more for the last 37 years. I can sympathize on the fur--I usually leave the shop vac running as I use the furminator. Maybe the next time I do it I'll save the fur and have it woven into a hat for when I lose my hair in a few weeks?
Rosevalley--they can be a little hardcore. Athus was schutzhund trained when I got him from someone who wanted to surrender him to our K9 unit but he's my 100 lb lap dog. Nichya is actually the alpha and he's my watchdog. He's got the smarts of GSD and the agility of the malinois and all the anxiety of both. I had another GSD a few years back that had once been the pet of two k9 officers that I work with and we constantly had "who's in charge" battles for the first couple of years.
Spookiesmom--I definitely feel pretty safe. I stayed with my parents for the first few days after my surgery and then left them for a couple of more days because my dad could exercise them more than I could and I don't think I slept more than 4 hours every night while they were gone. Every little noise had me jumping!

When my MO said I would loose my hair, I laughed and said I'd get Spookie cut down and have a wig made from hers so we'd match. He didn't get it.
She is my avatar.

I think you should at least get a wig that looks her even if it's not made from her hair!

Blondie- fingers crossed on going to Florida. You deserve to go enjoy yourself somewhere! There are some crazy FL women around here that I bet would visit you too....
0 -
Blondie, we mean it. Sas and I will drive to see you. Chevy didn't believe us either, we met, had a great time. What part of Florida?
Tell her Chevy. We want to meet her!!!
0 -
Yes. yes, Blondie we will come see you. Maybe not Miami---it's crazy.
Rosie and Spookie and all that I missed Thanks about DS. Yeah, I'm over the top proud. It is unusual for a lawyer his age to have accomplished what he has so far. The difference is size of law firm. In bigger firms there is so much of what he's been able to do wouldn't be assigned to an associate. To do appellate cases would have gone to some one with years more experience. The trade off is money. Grunts in bigger firms(100+ lawyers) make huge amounts of money. But he is VERY happy to have the ability to Do Stuff other than grunt work. Too many of his friends took the money, not realizing all the years it would take till they got to do what he's been allowed. To see him having so much fun at what he is doing is just the best part of it.
Marley my twin was a Detroit cop and retired in 1998 at sargent level---two weeks before our 48th birthday----great retirement pension. She got BC at 46 y/o, worked through all of chemo, but didn't retire on disability, she stayed the full time-God Bless her. Her cop stories kept us in stitches for years. Her last assignment was in notification and control. LOL, when you said about telling cops what to do. Not sure if N&C is the same language department to department. She used to describe her last department job as deciding if the commissioner and mayor needed to be woken up etc. and that if anyone in a _____(station) needed advice as to how to proceed. Nice place to spend her last few years on the department. Way better than the street. So often she would put her self in harms way to make sure her baby cops wouldn't get hurt or do the wrong thing when they were in unfamiliar action stuff. They thought she was great. Her rationale was to avoid all the report writing if they got hurt. They learned by example, she avoided the writing. .......... Love Belgian Malinois.....have considered the Belgian Tervern(sic?) sister breed.
Rosie glad you enjoyed Sandy and Lizzy clip. Since you looked at others too... I think you can see why I thought they were special......Who knew dogs could do ballet?
DBF home BBL or tommorrow

Talking about dogs tearing stuff up. There is some sort of creature in the back. It's either from the next yard(disaster yard) or it's in /under the shed. The dogs--Dini & Shatzi---tore off several pieces of the shed trying to get to whatever it is.....were going to set a trap. I think it's a rat.

Lawsy me you ladies have been busy! And so have I. It never rains but it pours as I always say. Today I had a lunch date with one of the wonderful ladies who drove me to rads, and shortly before I left, our big dog started throwing up. Like, a lot. I was on the verge of canceling my lunch, but called DH and the vet first. DH said he'd head home after his meeting, vet said they would want us to leave the dog for a few hours at least. Cousin said go, so I went, had a good lunch, middle of lunch cousin calls to say dog is throwing up blood, she's taking him in. Later we talked to the vet, dog has some kind of stomach bug and they're keeping him overnight. I'm resigned to losing him. Vet made it sound serious. Lying here in bed and now Rose's tummy is churning. Is she next? Not ready.
Big dog's name is Nacho.

P.S. Sassy, trying to find a time to call you!

sas-schatzi -- we use a different term but pretty much have a bureau with a similar job. We are a MUCH smaller agency than Detroit with roughly 10% of their size. I started my career in 1994 and the world has changed a lot since then so our officers take reports on everything and record every conversation with the public, basically as a CYA! Thought about the Tervuren but they have way too much hair. My half-breed has a prey-drive that is unbelievable. He sat in front of gopher hole for an hour waiting for it to pop up and nailed it when I finally came up!
So now not only has my list of questions for my MO has grown but also my list of things to bring to my treatment has expanded to include crushed ice/popsicles. I hate being cold so cold caps/gloves/booties are not a possibility for me but I think I can stand my mouth being cold.

magdalene51 -- sorry to hear about Nacho. I was just reading that there's a pretty serious canine flu going around.

Jazzy--very nice thought --thanks--time will tell. He's ethical -Yay. In Florida the first exam before being allowed to sit for the Bar exam is the ethics test. They're is two levels--ethical for Florida--and the national level. He passed for all 50. It's the same for all states----state level and national. Then word was expected about the Bar exam. I was in the Port Canaveral waiting area to get on a boat. Worried why I hadn't heard. I finally called. His words " Mom when you are waiting for an important phone call, please, remember to turn your phone on" His tone was familiar in Jack Benny's delivery. He had passed. Wonderful memory. This is a benchmark moment as each of those were. He get's crazy just a bit when I credit his success to Science Research in school. In our county, it's a big deal. Taken very seriously. Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Air Force base(Delta & Atlas). Lot's of involved parents. What each kid in a science fair has to do is present the project AND answer questions re: the project. From second grade on to the twelth, he progressively learned cooperative effort, how to think, research, write, present, and defend. The bottom line, those early days have translated nicely. An Appellate Judge would seem formidable.......so's a Science Research judge. Bless his teachers
In memory of Dr. Billy Bowen, science teacher for his guidance and encouragement over his career of 45 years to the students of our county who passed away this week. Thanks Billy, Bless you.

Mags---long post wiped out in a very odd way that I haven't seen before..........Keep us in the loop. Keep the dogs food, but don't let them eat any. Even if the vet thinks it's okay. Long story. Get new food different brand for the time being.

It's 11:44 and I am wide awake... ok insomiacs.. where are you? I have listened to all the Cat Stevens on my Ipod, read everything on the internet on his bio... remembered him singing in concert when I was a kid. Rocking down memory lane.
Mags- Sass is right. There have been some nasty food additives that have killed dogs and cats. It might have been a bad batch of food. I buy only US made, no corn or grain pet food. my fav is the salmon/sweet potato, lots of fatty acids and my dogs coats are gorgeous. Good for allergies. We almost lost our little terrier to HGE (hemorraghic Gastroenteritis), which has nothing to do with food. She just passed out, puked everything, diarrhea- then came the bloody diarrhea. I never thought such a small animal could lose so much fluid and blood and live. We got her to an emergency vet and she made it! No one thought she would. She was in puppy ICU no joke, she was so sick they charged me 28$ for giving report between shifts. I guess HGE is a reaction to bacteria and it just snowballs. I hope your pup is ok and pulls through.
Blondie sure does sound excited about FLorida. It's great her DS is taking her and I surely do hope Spookie and Sassy hook up. I hope she gets to go and soak up sun, sand and heat! May her MO give her a boarding pass! Be well ya'll.

HI1----I wish ---the glass is right. Just wish the liquid inside was....White Russians, Pink Squirrels, Grasshoppers.......I tried to order them not long ago and I was looked at like I was an alien. But it does bring back the memory that my first head nurse taught me---order a drink that the bartender doesn't know and it can keep you from getting carded. My drink of choice in that time was a Scarlett O'Hara---cranberry juice and Southern Comfort. Tried it sometime ago-----way to sweet. Couldn't figure out how I could have ever drank it----Oh yeah, I was underage.Oh krips, I just finished Letterman and now it's 4:14 am-------Oh well, see you late or on Thursday.
