It was 8:30 a.m. when I saw the sun dog Friday. Is that early? That's what time my appt was with eye doc.

Mary, good luck with parathyroid.  I saw an endocrinologist in Madison for hyperactive thyroid but that was in the 90's, so long ago it wouldn't help.  I was treated with nuclear medicine (radioactive iodine) not surgery, and don't remember anyone's names.

Homer, glad to hear BRCA gene test was negative!

Got soup stock simmering on the stove *mmmm* love the scent and the moisture in the air. ♥ to all

imagev lrn sorry about the thyroid issue. Why is it always something?

The sun dogs can be seen morning or afternoon. Just depends where the is is in the atmosphere. I've seen them in the afternoon more often but that probably has to do with the fact I'm a night owl.

Sorry gotta post another pic of my town Port Washington. There's been so many good ones lately. LOL

Monica must want us all moving to Port Washington! I agree with her pm sky gazing philosophy, although sunrises over the lake can be nice.

Well, my parathyroid hormone level is normal (but one of the 4 glands could still be going wacko and raising my serum calcium). Before sending me to an endocrine specialist, oncology wants to investigate my bones via a couple of imaging scans. Hopefully we'll get those out of the way this week with unremarkable results and then pursue the "real" problem...

LOL M0mmy, fun poem!  It may get close to forty this weekend in the Madison area.

Homer, thinking about you and will be "in your pocket" Fri.  Will also say a little prayer.

Saw onc for follow-up this afternoon.  All is well.  I've been on tamox 4.5 years but he wants to switch me to Arimidex now since I'm post-meno.  DEXA scan (bone density test) next week.

Going to head to the indoor track for a walk.  Disco Classics mix tape in the Walkman!  ♥ to all

    Mommy funny poem!

Homer, we'll be in your pocket on Fri.

    Much love to all.

I've never heard of sun dogs, I'll have to look for them. I'm sorry, as a transplant I don't know of an endocrine surgeon in the area. Homer, good luck, let us know how you are doing.

My husband has the cable guy out today and he's not letting him leave until the box is fixed! He is gone Sunday evenings so records the games to watch for later. So last Sunday the Packers were being recorded and everyone under strict instructions not to tell him what happened with the game until he watched it. And...... he got home to sit down and watch it and the box didn't work and there was no recording. It was not a good moment. He is taking no chances this weekend!

Oh no - a big game and no TV?!

Nice that Homer got an earlier surgery (less time to sit around without having anything to eat!): she's probably done with it now, waking up, having ice chips and getting ready to log in...

My bone scan & CT were fine so now it's wait for the endocrine appointment which wasn't available until February 11. Got permission to take a couple weeks off of letrozole in order to see if the trigger finger that was beginning on my left/violin hand will resolve. Might be nice to have a little extra estrogen in circulation until I get this possible parathyroid thing figured out. Too much calcium in the blood can contribute to depression, hypertension and other unpleasant effects.

My onc said to take 1200 mg/day of calcium and 400-800 units/day of vit D. I think he meant once I start the A.  He also said don't take mega-doses of anything.

IDK what 'normal' ranges are but I can view results of CBC last week, should be posted to EMR.

Mary, I hope the mini-vacation from letrozole helps.

Homer, hope you're doing OK and getting some rest.

It was nice enough to walk OUTDOORS this afternoon! ♥ to all

Back in my room & pretty comfortable. Will tak a Percocet at bedtime to help with pain while asleep

They gave an IV Cocktail for anesthesia as I have significant N/v with gas induction. He warned me it would take longer to wake up & he was spot on. I remember nothing from 8:50 am until 5-5:30 pm. Better living through chemistry!

Thank you for all your support!! Should be home by mid-day tomorrow. Best of luck to all

Homer, glad you came through. Take it easy though. That's a major surgery.

Mary, I hope it works for you. I had a cortisone shot in my trigger finger and that has helped. It doesn't lock as often and hurts less often too.

Badger, just be sure to take 600 of the calcium each time. The body only absorbs 600 at a crack so you've got to split it up. Normal ranges are sometimes printed on the results on the computer. Unusual ones are flagged either H or L. My website allows me to hit detail and see more information. Even gives me a chart of the last year's teststests for that particular thing. Like my magnesium levels will be graphed for the last year. It even had my Dexa report the last time I looked.

Kmmd, my DH would be p*ssed! I hope it gets fixed.

Mommy, did it warm up for you? I was outside yesterday and actually said "What a beautiful day!" LOL it was 25 degrees. LOL But in my defense, the sun was shining. LOL

    Much love to all.

Hey ladies....this slight warm up after the 30-40 below is great....i hope the snow acumulation we have not been getting doesnt pile up on us all at onece at some point.

Im looking for recommendations for recon surgeons at the UW or St.Marys.....i think this spring/summer i am going to go ahead and try the breast lift with a small implant. So i need a dr. that has had good success with radiated tissues. I had spoke to a woman last year that had all her raidated tissue removed down to the ribs and managed to get a really good result...so that makes me optimistic enuff to give this a try since i dont need THAT extensive of a surgery...they just need to do the lift and tuck in a small implant to even out my dented boob. DOes anyone know what effect a lift would have on skin/nipple sensation? Im not concerned about the radiated side as that nipple already retracted, but i want to save my good non-radiated nipple if at all possible. Ive never heard thta if someone is simply getting breast augmentation that they lose nipple/skin sensation so im hoping since thats basically what would be done to my left good boob the i would still have sensation.....if anyone knows anything on ths either pro or con i would like to hear it.....

    Hi Wisconsin peeps!

    A. Go Pack Go!

    B. There is an article in the New Yorker about Stalin's daughter who at one point lived in....

    Richland Center?

Wow! (I may live in NYC but I have been there a bunch of times.)

I say this every year but next year I want to make a WI trip.

Hey Cookie!  Let me know if you ever get here to God's Country, would love to meet you IRL!

Bluewillowskys, good to see you.  I didn't have recon so no advice but good luck!

Monica, thanks for calcium info.  I need to research and talk to pharmacist. I know I could get supplements elsewhere but I like to give them my business.  They're a small independent pharmacy, they know me and my current meds, and I trust them.

OK I have this superstition about watching the Packers games.  When I watch, they don't do so well.  When I don't watch, they do better.  Last week, I was downstairs doing laundry when the game started.  They got a TD right away.  I came upstairs and started watching and the other team pulled ahead.  So for the last quarter of the game, I stayed in the kitchen chopping veggies for soup.  And they won.  So today, I'm going to go for a walk during the last quarter.  If they do not prevail, it will not be because I watched the game LOL.

Go Pack Go!  ♥ to all

Taliesin is sort of between Spring Green and Dodgeville...I actually live just a block away from the Frank L Wright " German Warehouse" bulding that he designed. When i worked at the Spring Green Cafe, I often served Frank L Wright's grandson...he was a regular customer.

Thanks Badger...glad to know you are still doing well.

I was able to stay awake for the entire game yesterday & was hopeful til the end. At least there will be a WI link in the super bowl with Russell Wilson.

I got home Saturday afternoon. Overall doing well other than some lightheadedness & nausea when I tried to take a modified shower yesterday. Guess I need to wait a bit. Pain manageable. Starting to get antsy as I'm not used to sitting for very long. I should get final path report back today or tomorrow. I'm optimistic but will feel better when I know for sure. Thank you all for your support

Hey Homer, thanks for checking in.  Glad you're home and the pain is manageable.

Stay ahead of the pain!  Take meds as prescribed even if you're not hurting at the moment.

This is such old lady advice but use a stool softener if you find pain meds to be constipating.

Your body is healing on the inside on pace with the outside so rest and recuperate!  Please!!

Be aware of your risk for lymphedema (LE) due to having nodes removed.  Here are a couple of links.  One is to the BCO LE page, and the other is a BCO thread put together by some awesome members here with guidelines for safe exercise.

Waiting on path results is always hard so fingers crossed for good report. ♥ to all

Oh yeah. Stay ahead of the psin. It can hang around for a lo g time but longer if you don't get rest and if you are in pain it takes longer.

    Much love
