Thank you ladies. I'll let y'all know.
Jazz I did good until about midway. Id swear I was 3rd degree burning right in front of my eyes, and arms were getting sore! But I made it. Was such a beautiful paddle.

The Grusin brothers, and no doubt some of you know Dave Grusin (famous for a lot of film music like the Fabulous Baker Boys). They played together in Santa Fe a number of years ago, which is where Don lives. Boy would I love to run in to him there some time. The lesser known brother has some great music as well.

Hi Gals,
I've never had stitches before. They numbed the area putting them in but didn't taking them out. Ouch! Majority of my recons is numb but of course not the suture.
PA said looks good. Have appt on Mon to see ps to get his blessing that I can schedule the right side adjustment.
Hope everyone is well. It's going to be in 90's and 100's for a week coming up here in the Bay Area Cali. ah! Hate the heat!

Artista- oh sister, I hurt for you just healing about the stitches coming out. I have had that and also staples taken out of my abdomin with surgery there without pain killers. OUCH! I am glad the PA gave the stamp of approval and hope you have a good apt on Monday.
It is really hot here now too. Heading to 100 this weekend. Not fond of the heat either, especially with no hormones anymore!

Thanks Jazzy. Of course all the stitches required digging and the last one she almost gave up on. I would have gladly taken local anesthetic but wasn't offered. Just told to breathe, like that helps.. And staples??? Oh hell no. Local anesthetic or they stay in.
I don't know how you deal with heat in New Mexico. Having a whole week 90-100s here isn't common and I'm preparing by stocking up so I don't have to go outside and creating a fort inside in front of my portable a/c. Ugh.
My bff has an u/s tomorrow for something they spotted on routine mammo. She's a bit nervous since she's never gone past mammo before but has the attitude that it is what it is. That's my thought too. I think about this uneveness in my recons but don't much about recurrence or mets even though I'm on Tamox instead of AIs which I could not tolerate. I guess quality of life is the key for me here. I haven't changed my diet, lost weight, etc. Look as good as I can, feel as good as I can, and the rest is what it is.

Artista- when they were going to take out the staples, they gave me some pain meds in advance, but got super busy so by the time they came to do the deed, the meds were wearing off and the person doing it was really bad so I told them to get someone who could get them out without killing me or I need to get more meds. They found someone who actually had a clue and then I got discharged. Wicked good time.

Good evening ladies- hope everyone is doing okay! I was supposed to go to a yoga retreat up in the mountains this weekend, but there is a bad wildfire up there that started yesterday and is out of control. I was concerned about safety and the smoke (with my asthma) and glad they called it off this morning. Sounds like it is still raging and this same area had a really bad fire in 2001 that destroyed a lot. I have another yoga event in town next week with the same person and will go back there again next winter, as I usually do (no fires in the winter). We have a heat dome out here in the west and it hit 100 today and going to 104 by next Thursday.
I have a BCO sister from another thread here in town this next week. We have plans to meet up on Thursday, she is coming over here next weekend for dinner. She has to do compression with the L stuff and worried about the heat. Looking forward to meeting her and spending time with her in person.
June- how is the new job?
Artista- you asked how I could live here with the heat? NM actually has a pretty nice climate, we have seasons and it only really gets hot here around this time and before the summer monsoons. This place is considered "high desert" so we don't get as hot as places like Phoenix which I hear are hitting 120 right now. But June is my least favorite month due to the heat, despite many fun things going on here this June. I think this summer may be a sizzler?
This weekend is Father's Day and know some of you will be missing your dads like I am. Peace sisters.

We have a pretty even keel climate, not too hot and not too cold in general, so this week of 90-100 is odd. I have a fan, portable a/c and overhead fan on all at the same time. I'd much rather be cold.
I have my dad and am very thankful for him. At 78 he's quite healthy and still works full time. He's in better shape than me that's for sure! So sorry to those of you who don't have you dads with you. I can't imagine...
Have a nice weekend ladies!

Saw ps today. Says looking good. Was excited to schedule my right fix it for a month out until he said follow up in 2 mo. Eh? What happened I asked. He said it was 1 mo after the infection was deamed gone but after the leak fiasco, it's bumped to 2 mo. So next appt is 8/22. So much for getting right side fixed while it's still summer. Looking like Sept now.
He did a great job. Kudos to him for not jumping the gun and pulling out the implant. He saw it wasn't infected and gave it max time before stitches and then max time with stitches. Success on that front!
Nasty heat wave continues here in the Bay Area Cali. Record breakers. I have no clue how peeps with no a/c do it. I have a portable with 2 fans going and I'm still miserable. We haven't reached the worst of it yet. Triple digits are coming to the Bay Area later this week. Shoot me now.
Hope everyone has a nice week.

Morning ladies.
Jazzy, that's so awesome! Hope y'all have a great visit!
June, congratulations! Not sure I could handle a change like that right now.
Artista, That's frustrating I know. I am waiting to get my left side 'fixed'. Always seems to be something, doesn't it?
Well, biopsy Friday. Radiologist isn't sure, but concerned it may be a local recurrence VERY few know about this as I need no one to worry (especially my mother) unless there is reason to. I feel amazingly calm, considering. Either way, it is what it is. Can't change it.....so here I am once again, waiting.....
Hope all have a good day.

Artista- sorry to hear things will be postponed until Sept. Maybe you can try to enjoy the summer and know that will be waiting for you later to take care of. Stay cool in the heat too, it is wicked hot here too and going to only get hotter. I went to the pool last night to swim and felt much better after that. Those who don't have AC are at high risk in this heat, this kind of heat can be a killer. AZ and places like Palm Springs are in the 120s......
Simplicity- I am sorry to hear you may have a local reoccurrence. I pray this is nothing but some scar tissue, but the doc is being sure. Please know you have done all the things for your BC and had ALOT of treatment so you have thrown everything in the book at this. The docs provide us with what they can to treat this stuff and pray it works. Will be in your pocket on Friday sister.
June- wishing you the best at the new job! Let us know how it is going once you are settled. I saw NYC got some wicked storms last night?

Will be thinking of you Simplicity that it's not a recurrence. You have a great attitude though of it is what it is. There is no rhyme or reason to this beast. Some who have very unhealthy lifestyles don't have issues and some who do everything "right" do. I haven't really changed anything in what I do. In fact, can't think of one thing. I'm like weesa on here who is many years out and hasn't changed much if anything in her lifestyle. She's enjoying life for we all are going to go at sometime at any time even.

Good afternoon friends- another hot one in the desert. Back over 100 today. Staying indoors and cool. My new swimming routines help to keep me cool, I went last night and come home feeling cool inside and out.
BB- thank you for the kind words. Unfortunately, my yoga retreat got cancelled on Friday morning due to a wildfire that cropped up in the area the day before. Just not safe to be in the nearby canyon with the fire and smoke, and glad they cancelled it. The wild fires here get big really fast, and with one road in and out of those canyons, can be dangerous in this situation. I will return for a retreat there again next January, which is when I usually go. I have plans to go up there with my old BF when he is here in early July to hit the hot springs.
I think of you often sister and know things are difficult and sending hugs your way. I hope your mom is stable.
Artista- I had a pretty healthy lifestyle before my dx, although I was overweight (now finally loosing that after getting some things in to balance). I exercised regularly, ate well, etc. But will say I allowed other people to push my limits with work, family expectations, etc. So I will say there were times I got myself exhausted at the expense of others. I no longer let that happen, finally learned to put my well being first instead of trying to please too many others. My sister tried to get me to change some things in July to go with her to CT to help with her partners eldercare stuff (again) and said I have my follow ups then and will not be changing those.
I became borderline diabetic 6 months after I started the AIs so I gave up sugar in the fall of 2013, and been working the past 9 months with an endocrinologist to get more back in to balance. I am down 16 pounds since last Sept and will meet my initial weight loss goal in another month. All my numbers have been moving in the right direction. It has been a long road out with my fitness and my overall health since then. Some of the drugs we take to treat cancer cause many other side effects.
There are no guaruntees with anything we do, because all the cancers we have are a bit different. Keep taking good care of yourself with what works best for you!

BB- getting out will help. I did something last weekend after the retreat got cancelled that I was on the fence about and had a better than expected time. Sometimes when we push ourselves to do something, we have that experience. I do hope getting out is good for you!

Freakin-A.. Just as I'm basking in having only my miserable se's to deal with, I break my lower front tooth in the back, pretty decent size. Ah! I have no dental insurance. This was broken before and it was nicely fixed just before I started chemo. Then toward the end of chemo another tooth broke and he put an amalgan on it. Seriously.

Morning ladies.
Artista. My teeth are really declining fast. Sorry to hear that. I have to have a root canal mid July and then the real fun begins with the rest *sigh*
BB-I've been doing a bit of the same. Lurking more than typing. I have to force myself out of bed everyday. I feel like I could reside in my bed!! Even these past camping trips, just not even excited for those, having to force myself to pack the car and my bag
Enerva, how are you?

Enerva, this is Tony, my Conure. He's a bit demanding, but loves his baths!!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh Simplicity! LOVE green cheek conures! I used to have 2 of them. One would dance with me on his perch, could say come here Peek (his name was Peek, didn't get he should say mom), and a few other short phrases I can't remember. I used to have birds from 93-2011. Such cute personalities! I so miss my beaks.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh Simplicity! LOVE green cheek conures! I used to have 2 of them. One would dance with me on his perch, could say come here Peek (his name was Chepeeka, didn't get he should say mom), and a few other short phrases I can't remember. The other is Kiara I used to have birds from 93-2011. Such cute personalities! I so miss my beaks. Chepeeka is up front here, always always has an eye on me and ready to interact either by dancing with me or saying his cute phrases.

Oh man ladies- I am sorry about the dental issues. I did not do chemo, but know the SEs with it are endless. Hair, nails, now teeth too? Hugs.
Simplicity- one foot in front of the other was the way it was for me for a good two years after I finished treatment. You went through far more than I did. Give yourself credit for getting up and getting to work every day. I know that awful feeling of just existing vs. living. It goes on for way too long......
Birds are adorable everyone! My neighbor behind me has a conjure and budgies and they are outside chirping their brains out all day long. Like living in an avery, but love it.....

Love it Artista! Oh and look at all the toys! They are a handful but so fun. Tony will snuggle against my neck at naptime and get on my finger for the sole purpose of me wiggling my finger with him on it lol he is a dancer too. I also have 2 cockatiels; Pepper in the front, Prissy (sometimes Pissy haha) in the back
Jazzy, I am trying..

I've had cockatiels too, as well as a golden mantelled rosella, love birds (noisy), finches, canary, and a grey cheek parakeet- not all at the same time. I'd be in heaven if I could have an aviary. While I love my guinea pig a lot, birds have always been my fav and out of them, my green cheeks.
Green cheek conures have such spunk and personality. If I wasn't financially strapped and in the shape I'm in, I'd adopt another. I still have their cages with their toys in it. It's been 6 years and I don't have the heart to touch it.

Simplicity- you are doing great sister. Never doubt you are doing the best you can every day. Other people put ALOT of pressure on us to just go back to normal. There is no normal after this, we find our way to a new normal with time.......
Those cockatiels are adorable!

My golden mantled rosella Roujie is the duller pic. Film quality plus not fully grown yet to produce the vibrant colors that are in the top pic. And another photo with lots of flash of Chepeeka always seeking attention and being playful. I have to say, he's my fav bird of them all. Film quality sucks. Have we come a long way with that though.

Artista- wow, what a beautiful bird!
Enerva loves birds, wait until she sees all these cuties....
