This thread has been busy today. :-)
Welcome, Overcoming. And hello to everyone.
I just want to post a link to a study someone sent me today:
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2014/07/140725080408.htm
If I'm understanding it correctly, this is what the researchers are saying: Tamoxifen works better when our bodies produce melatonin. When we stay up at night with some kind of light - for example, from a TV or a computer screen - our bodies produce less melatonin. IOW, the Tamoxifen might not be working when we stay up late because we're producing less melatonin.
To be honest, I'm kind of freaking out here because, while taking Tamox for a few years, I often stayed up very late. Now I'm wondering if the same is true for arimidex.
The good news, they say, is that melatonin supplements might help. Anyway, just wanted to share that information here.

Oh and another answer to a question posed by BB.
The hot young psycho wasn't bothered by my scars or recon. And never said he was either. Never really spoke about it after I pointed it out.
With CB, I had mentioned I had gone through something 2 years ago, which left me feeling changed in many ways. To be discussed another day. He didn't mention it and honestly not sure he quite noticed the breast was different. For all intensive purposes it isn't and in fact now with my weight gain a bit fuller than my natural side. The abdominal scar cannot be missed, however, again, he didn't mention or act as if it was any kind of game changer. We haven't discussed it at all. Goes to show just how interested in me he really is. Seems like 30 years hasn't changed much between him and I. Yet I have this weird connection with him. But now...I am no young thang and know he doesn't seem to be interested in ME. If he is, he doesn't communicate that and we all know that will not lead to anything fulfilling.
I just sent him a text about the surgical scars now. LOLOLOL
Guess I will just throw it out there and he cannot ignore it. Or...he can and I will def know ......He has a way of saying the right thing to keep me just a tad interested but now I feel as if the depth is glaringly lacking......
I think it's funny since he knows I had plans all weekend and he starts throwing the exclusive thing out there. If only he knew how hard I was hit on at the DMB concert and again on Sat by a shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh (24yo)
Guys know....if we want sex...it doesn't take much to find it..........If only the male masses knew how to have a relationship...a deeper connection and how to please a woman outside the bedroom.......then none of us would be here would we....
oops
I didn't sound jaded there did I...
I am so glad I have my male BFF....and even I know he is a player...but at least I have a guy connection!!!
Without the playing around
*shrugs shoulders*
It really isn't what we look like ladies.........I really think it is our higher standards ...and our no Bull$hit attitudes

Piper- you have it figured out girlfriend. Maybe your friend is interested most when he thinks there is competition and you off having other fun with other people. Men are like that, as we know. And yes, always there are always men out there for sex. Men don't realize we can find that any time we want, where as they cannot. My guess is they are jealous of that too!
Maybe your friend who knew you back when needs to take the time to find out who Piper is these days?

You are totally correct Jazzy. LOL

I know some of you like music, concerts, etc. so before I check out for the evening, I wanted to share this with you. A group I became aware of via a link from a friend on FB. The group is from Sweden and is called Dirty Loops. This song is a bit of jazz fusion like I have not heard in a long time. Three great musicians with a good sound and great arrangement here. They have a CD coming out next month, and I will be getting it! Enjoy

Oh, sheesh, I'm the one who posted the study on getting enough sleep / melatonin / tamoxifen. And here it is, 4:30 a.m. and I still can't fall asleep!!! :-( So, I came back here for a visit. I hope everyone else is having a more restful night.
Just read the last few posts. Piper - you're so right that a woman has an easier time finding a man than vice-versa. If only they'd just learn to treat us right.
Alright, I'm going to attempt one more time to fall asleep. Have a good day.

On over drive this morning.
Made a complete dinner (had a roast in the crock pot over night) made mashed taters and green beans. Have a load of laundry in and I am ready to run out the door for my morning walk. I have to over achieve today due to my lack of ambition yesterday.
Just popped in to say CB sent me a text this am....I wanted to call him last night to talk, however, I never received an answer to my text so I figured he was sleeping.
He simply said he didn't even notice my scars and it wouldn't bother him anyhow. We sent a few text back and forth....finally he just wrote.........
"I think you are beautiful"

Good morning ladies. Like Piper, I need to get busy, as I did not get as much done yesterday as I wanted to. About to get at it and have a full day ahead and some commitments this evening.
Piper- how nice your friend makes you feel special. Hopefully he can start making more time for you. I know words are not enough to hold my attention, I need people who show up. Maybe you need to just ask him what his idea of "exclusive" is? I hope you have a good conversation today when he wakes up!
Life- I hope you got some rest.
Enerva- hope your studying goes well.
To all my other friends here, have a good day and will pop in later to see how everyone is doing!

life I am so sorry you have insomnia, I am better now I can't say I sleep every night ok but I am not longer taking pills I took a few weeks the natural pills and then just stop those. I am not sure what it is some night I am awake staring at my ceiling till 3 or even 4am but some other nights I am able to sleep around 1am and even 12 midnight so I think slowly I am getting better, for me it all started during chemo not even with prescription drugs I could sleep it was horrible.
Oh i am also taking a good night tea before bed but only when I feel like it not every night.
I woke up and I took a hot shower and now starting at my books again lol
Talk 2 you all this evening, I watched a show called extant las night it's new with halls berry, have any of you watched it lol kind of stupid now I thought it could be better lol

BB - Glad to hear you're treating yourself. :-)
Enerva - Winding down at the end of the day with a nice cup of tea and a book might help me, too. Now I'm hearing that melatonin supplements might help us fall asleep, too. I'm going to ask my onc about that at the next appointment.
Piper - What a sweet thing for CB to text.
Jazzy, Everyone - Have a good day. :-)

Oh, yeah, I forgot to add:
BB, I read the same thing about working nights and BC. For many, many years, I worked the "graveyard shift" - i.e. the overnight shift. So, that may be one of the reasons that I ended up with BC. :-(

Life- I have used some melatonin for a sleep aid and it does work. My issue is less with falling asleep than waking up middle of the night and not being able to go back to sleep. I go through cycles with that too. Right now, I am back to the cycle of sleeping better through the night. Another supplement that has helped me is called Sleep Blend that has a bunch of herbs that help with falling asleep. Found in most health stores. You can find melatonin just about anywhere, including places like Walgreens.
You should definatly ask your MO about what you should be taking though and if any of the sleep supplements are to be avoided, even the herbal stuff. It has been suggested to me by others to check with the MO on any vitamins and supplements as some things can act as estrogen boosters (which most of us are trying to avoid).
Let us know if you find something that helps your sleep needs!

ok so I am getting a bit impatient with the Ps choices of implants, here my nightmare starts again. I ask his secretary a week ago if he had wrote any info in my chart as per what implants he will use and she said he had not done that yet I then asked her to let me know as soon as he does since I need to know. I will not go blind again. I know he wrote down what I want but till I know the style and volume I will not be sure that he won't screw things up for me. So I sent him an email today. I don't care if I will seam pushy I sent an email just letting him know what are the styles and volumes I have researched about and to please let me know which one he decides to use so I am aware of it in advance. Is that too much to ask?
I am so worry about this, this is my only chance to get things right
Bb, hope it doesn't hurt much. All those botox thing look painful
LIFE, the melatonin thing is over the counter and like Jazz said it's everywhere I used it in the past but finished one bottle and never got it again lol not sure if it worked, during chemo I try every pill out there lol

Enerva- you have to speak up for yourself and ask a lot of questions with any medical procedure. I did so with everything I went through because I am basically distrustful of the current healthcare system (I have worked in it and just know too much). You need to tell them you need this information to better prepare for your surgery. Bring a friend with you to the office during your next visit to push on it with you if you need to.

Jazz thanks, I am like you my trust issues go beyond men, the medical system fail me too many times. The worse part is that I don't have an appointment to see him till surgery date. Imagine they say they ll let me know to go take my blood test 2 weeks before but that is at the hospital lab so won't see ps at all. That is why I sent the email to see if I can get the info on the implants. Girls here in Canada ps for bc are so different than back home. When I went home the Dr showed me and my sister what the different implants look like we were able to touch them and put it under my sisters cloth just to imagine. Way different than here. Here they expect you to go blind and let them mess it up.that's how I ended up with the wrong implants in Dec.
0 -
Enerva- I am surprised you are not having a pre-op visit with him, but I don't know your medical system there in Canada. Most docs want to see at week before the surgery to go over everything. Then they do a post opp (or several of them in most cases).
Can you request an additional apt if you cannot get an answer? I would think you should be able to do the same thing as your sister, look at them, touch them, etc. Good gosh, these things are going in your body, you should have this information! I hope you can get some answers and all the info you need before your surgery date. We will be here with you as you prepare for that, go through it, and recover from it too.
How is Milky way doing?

Thanks Jazz I will wait and by August 10th if I don't hear from that secretary I will call and if she says he did not decide on implants yet I will tell her I sent an email and that i need to see him or have the word that he will intact order those style and volumes girls I honestly tell you Canada is a very difficult country to be in when it comes to medicine just cuz we have insurance they feel they are the once to decide on what ever we need.
Milkyway must be studying hard, or painting or smiling. She is a positive girl
I can't wait to hear about Bb s botox lol
😁
Oh n my silly sister did not go get the Report .Unreal
That's all I can say About that. hoping tmw they will go.

Jazzy - Thanks for the advice on supplements to aid in sleeping. I will check with my onc at the next appointment.
Enerva - I hope everything goes well with the PS. IMHO, you're right in asking these questions, especially after what you went through with the last surgery. I hope everything works out for your sister, too.

Have any of you had alloderm with you implants?0 -
Stix, no I wanted aloderm but I was not lucky to get it, my ps said it was not available unless I participated in a trial so did and still the computer did not chose me
Sorry I can't help, but I saw your question on the other tread, give it time the implants will drop is a low process takes a few months.
0 -
Hi, Stix.
I have alloderm on both sides. I didn't know anything about alloderm, though, until I came home from my first mastectomy and found a donor "thank you form" in my hospital belongings. I was quite surprised. I can't remember if the PS just thought I needed alloderm, or if he uses it regularly on his patients. Then he did the same on the other side for the second MX. Anyway, I have implants with alloderm. Later, I also had fat grafting. If you have any questions, just PM me or let me know here.
