SpecialK - I met yesterday for the first time with PS since exchange surgery. She said she had to do some work with scar tissue also, but luckily no drain…hope your drain comes out soon. I didn't have a compression binder either…just some regularly bandages, and put on a sports bra when I got home. I also felt really good (except for the vomiting) the night after surgery, but found the next couple of days a little harder in terms of pain/discomfort. So take it easy….lay on the couch and watch T.V. for a couple days. Glad all went well.

Yay, glad you checked in & that things went well, SpecialK! They put me in one of those binders after my last surgery, which I just had to keep on 'til my post-op the following day. The elastic made my skin break out.

Tampa, hope you got some answers at your recent PS appointment.

Special K - You ARE special, 'cause we're all checking in here to see how you are!!! I checked all day yesterday and now first thing this morning.....so glad things went well and you're feeling good. Get plenty of good rest and relaxation even though you feel good - your body needs that.

Good morning, special K I am really happy for you! Wish you the best!

I woke up in the middle of the night and it was some leakage. I notised a little hole in th incision, it where is coming from.I put some gauze on it. OK, he says it is not an infection, but seroma, I guess, so why it cannot close 16 days after operation?Because he extended it?

I really don't know what to do... and today is only Saturday...

Hi everyone! I am allergic to the binder - have a rash all over the mid-section where it was touching me.  Took 2 Benadryl, but didn't think Vicodin on top of that was a good idea, so I am a little sore.  I am taking Cipro and it has a cross-reaction possibility (I am violently allergic to Levaquin) so I took the Benadryl to prevent this from getting worse.  It felt good to shower, I was allowed to with the water hitting my back only.  I got to look - they don't look like bagels or hamburger buns - they actually look pretty good!  I am pretty excited because I think they will only improve from here.  My drain is not producing much at all - less than 10ml yesterday - almost nothing today.  I guess it was precautionary since he was digging around in there.  I didn't fall asleep until early this morning, but took a nap this afternoon.

olgah - your PS may need to drain that seroma, and then the opening may close up for you.

Olgah, hang in there! I, too, have been dealing with seepage for a really long time. Got it down to where it is only seeping once a week (better than all day, every day before I had the TE replaced!). I don't have the answers, I just know that our bodies really do have a mind of their own, and we can't rush them (as much as we'd like to!). Take it easy, rest, eat your protein and keep antibiotic ointment on your incision. Crossing my fingers that things resolve soon! ;-)

specialK-Ugh about the rash.  I didn't have a binder, just a bunch of tape I had to keep on until is basically fell off.  I wonder if I will get a binder monday?  I have read that some are old to wear a girdle too to help with where they took the fat.

    Olgah-any more leakage today?

SpecialK - sorry to hear about the reaction to the binder. I can empathize. I couldn't wait to take the bandages off me…my skin was so irritated, and of course I reacted to the antibiotics again. Before BC I seldom took antibiotics and never had surgeries, so had no idea how sensitive I was. Glad you were able to take a shower.

Chick - I'm sure you're excited about Monday. Can you explain what you're having done? I know you said fat grafting….where are they taking the fat from and where are they putting it?

Mich-I will tell you monday!  I am not sure I really understand it myself.  I think they are taking fat from my belly area, doing something to it (cleaning it???) and reinserting it.  He is aiming to make a more natural looking cleavage area and filling in the top (is that called the pole?).  From what I have heard the lipo area actually is more uncomfortable then the breast area.  He also wants to "lift" the left side.  It has dropped about a half inch lower then the right side.

Good luck Monday and ask lots of questions so you can relay the info to us. I don't know if you had any lipo when you first got your implants….my PS did some near the underarm area and that was the area that hurt the most after surgery. It's amazing that they can inject fat into the breast area without puncturing the implants. Not sure if you need to lose fat from your belly, but if you do, hope your PS is generous with how much he takes out:)

chick - I will be doing FG later too.  I think they put a spanx like thing on you after.  They lipo, then centrifuge the fat off to separate it before they inject it.

I am surprised by how much softer the areas around the top and sides are without TE's.  It all just feels so much better.

I remember feeling like that too.  So much softer right away.  Although I do remember being in pain too.

Special K- I am so happy you are feeling comfy with the implants but so bummed you've got a rash. And you were so careful!!!

Chick-looking forward to seeing how how your FG goes. I honestly know nothing about this procedure and would like to learn more.

Ren - It sounds like things are better with you. Excellent!

Olgah-get some rest and don't overdue it, okay?

    DLL66- How are you feeling?

Got a 100 cc fill this past Thursday. So far, so good. One more to go....if all goes well I bake for two months and have an exchange in May. I was not happy with the last nurse who applied the numbing cream. She rubbed it in and instead of leaving a blob on there for a little while like the other nurse did and that way was virtually pain free. The needle was really uncomfortable. Next time I am demanding my blob of cream.

    Take care,

    C

Hello ladies, I've been MIA. Doing ok from surgery but I was in a car accident. It wasn't my fault. The seatbelt tugged me back into my seat, needless to say it crosses all of my tender areas. My abdomen incisions are ok, thank god. It made that area though very tender and my the center of my chest nearer the right side is sore. I was checked out and those areas don't appear to have any deep trauma other than the immediate upper tissue area. My neck and upper back are sore. Just when my neck was feeling great from all those surgeries, grrrrr! The person who hit me has Allstate and they have been really great to deal with.

I've been trying to keep up with posts. Olgah and DLL, I hope you ladies are recovering well from your recent surgeries.

SpecialK, congrats on the exchange! Sorry you're dealing with a rash. :(  How long did it take to get your squishies again? I saw my PS and he gave me a little fill after he checked me out after the accident. He said the skin has some irritation so he would see if it would work. He said that I would not be done with fills this year. Bummer...but, it will be nice to have a long break after all these surgeries. But I know you've had to wait a long time too so you are my guide! :)

I'm doing ok after the partial hysterectomy, car accident aside, no side effects at all. Go figure. I'm supposed to start Arimidex. I went to get the scrip filled but my insurance wouldn't cover it. The pharmacist said it came back as I'm too young. I don't think they talk to the claims side and must think I want to take it to be a man or something! I called the onco, they have a call into the insurance.

    Michelle :-)

tatina-have the doc give you a prescription for EMLA cream. Then you can apply your own blob. I had some from my oncologist for my port, so PS just had me apply. About 30 minutes before the appointment, apply the blob and cover it with press and seal wrap or saran wrap. Then let it cook until he sees you. It hel[ed immensely with my fills.

mrochon - oh no on the car accident!  I am so glad you are OK - I wondered where you went!  I am doing OK but I think the rash is getting worse - par for the course! This seems to happen every time I have a major surgery and it is always over the weekend!  I started with the original TE's in November of 2010, so the right side was still the original!  I wonder if the insurance won't pay for your Arimidex because they have not figured out that you had a hyst yet.  I would get a copy of that report from your doc and fax it to them so they can get their ducks in a row.

Tampa, best wishes next week--hope your BS can help you get some relief.

Good luck, olgah. Does your PS know about the leakage? Hope it stops soon!

SpecialK, I don't know what it is about those binders, but it really irritated my skin too. Glad your squishies are looking good already!

Renn, sorry you are still dealing with seepage, but glad that you are making progress.

Chickadee, good luck Monday! Will be thinking of you.

Congrats on being almost done with fills, Tatina!

fluffqueen, I did that too--used my own emla on the TE fill ports.

Glad you are okay, mrochon. Good luck getting your RX approved!

I am feeling great--thanks for asking, ladies. My skin looks great & the incision is all sealed--yay! Smile Went out last night to a concert in Ybor City & had a lot of fun! I have a PS appt on Monday. He mentioned doing something with tape & getting me into a bra. I dunno. I think I was still in a post-surgery haze, but my husband said that is what he said, LOL. Maybe I will get some stitches out too.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Sooo glad that you made it through the final hurdle, Special K!  I've been thinking about you.

Yay Marcy for getting that drain out.

I also used Mupirocin swabbing in the nose (and the noses of my family members lol), and we all scrubbed from the neck down with Hibiclens. It seemed to work, so we will do it again in May when I have exchange surgery.

    Hope everyone is doing well:)

momof3 - thanks!  Based on my PS chat with DH, not quite the final hurdle but hopefully the last big one.  We will be doing FG and some tweaking down the line.  Very itchy today - off to take to Benadryl and after that probably a nap!

chick - good luck tomorrow - give us an "after action" report asap!

Thanks guys.  Have to be at hospital at 8:30.  Hopefully everything goes smoothly.  I basically told the nurse that called me friday that whatever concoction of drugs they gave me the last 2 times was the concoction I wanted this time!  She laughed and said I am a pro at this by now.

Chick: Good luck tomorrow! They will prbably all recognize you when you are wheeled in! (Nothing like feeling "famous" in the OR, I always say).

SpecialK: As you have said to me in the past, slow and steady wins the race! Get those naps in! ;-)

Mrochon: welcome back, sorry you had to deal with a car wreck. Man, as Gilda said, it sure seems like it's always something on this journery!

Everyone: Enjoy the Oscars tonight! I just love watching them. Anyone else?

fluffqueen....I have toyed with the idea of roses on a vine for my tattoo.  My husband hates the idea.  Truth is, it was my MIL idea.  We were at dinner explaining my diagnosis, before my mastectomy.  We we talking about the whole procedure and that reconstruction of nipples, the tattoos, etc.  I mentioned that I don't think I really want/need reconstructed nipples.  All that surgery for nothing, they wont have feeling, so why bother?  They are just for looks.  She indicated that if they are just for looks, why not do something pretty, like roses.

I took that a step further to roses on the end of a flowing vine, to cover my surgical scars!  I like your hummingbird idea, too....

I already have a tattoo, by choice, of a butterfly, after significant weight loss, in honor of my new body.  So, I'm not against tats and the one I have was not painful at all. I don't know about on the breast, though.

My insurance will cover tattoo only for the nipple, not any fancy flowery stuff, so that would be on my own dime. I'm still undecided.  I bought some temporary tattoos to check them out.  We'll see.  It's so far away at this point I don't even think about it.
