I've been on T for the past two years as well.  No problems here either.

They told me they send to the US and it's very expensive so that's why they only do it in certain situations...

Glad to hear the T is not causing you ladies too much troubles... It was an intern who told me about the side effects and she even told me I should consider going on anxiety meds... The more I think about it the more I feel like telling the Onc to teach his intern about how to talk to patients, they are there to learn right? The picture wasn't so bad when the Onc explained everything again...

Ah well! I got through the past few months I should be able to manage this as well! And I know many of you had it pretty hard too and got through so will I!

    G'night all

    Anyone hear from Dragonfly?

Re tamox - yes there's a possibility of various side effects but most people don't experience them. I'm surprised that the intern would actually suggest you'd need anxiety meds…and yes, I would mention it to the onc. Might help the next patient.

No word from Drangonfly and she hasn't logged in since Feb 8th, her surgery date. Hope everything's ok.

No I didn't do MRI yet.  I mentioned it last doc apt.  I c her for a follow up apt on the 27 :)  I can't wait.  Funny eh...? Looking forward to doctors appoinments!? LOL

I am trying everything I'm told.  Meloxicam, tylenol, rest, heat, physio, massage, stretches...

Everyone thinks the pain is muscle probs.  My paranoia isn't helping me much.  Gotta get that under control.  But not ignore it either...

Boy it has been quiet here for the past few days.  I am getting so bored here at home.  I check the site several times a day, just like back in the chemo days...I need to get back to work.

I wonder how Sandi is.  It's not like her not to check in.

    Caro, how you doing lately?

Was thinking we should try another get together, perhaps in a few weeks...

I see that Sandi has logged in the past couple of days, although she hasn't posted. I'm sure we'll hear from her when she's ready.

Yes it has been quiet here…I'm also a little bored so check in more often than usual. When are you going back to work Michele?

I'm in for lunch next time for sure….hope we can do it soon.

    Hi everyone,

Haven't posted in awhile, glad to see that everyone who has surgery is recovering well. Welcome overwhelmed, I am in Orleans as well, in Avalon.

I finally met with my BS on Feb. 3. He is very nice and answered all of my questions. I am having a lumpectomy on March 20, but at the same time because my lump is so close to the surface of the skin, he will also be taking part of nipple. At first he thought that he would have to take the whole thing but then decided that he would be able to take just part. He did say that I was very lucky to have caught this as early as I did. The one thing that surprised a bit was that my cancer type is actually IDC rather than  DCIS. I had my MRI yesterday, my bone scan is scheduled for nest Tuesday and I am waiting to have my abdominal US and chest x-ray to be scheduled.

I worry about what those other tests may show. :(

On the bright side, I am going on a trip this weekend to Whitby ON, to watch my DD participate in a hockey tournament. A welcomed distraction.

Rachel try not to worry to much about those tests.  I have been on this site  a long time and I havn't heard of anyone getting bad results from these tests, at this stage of the game..go and enjoy that tournament.

Coni, I think you will like Dr Guey.  He is quite nice.  His team is great.

    Hi everyone!

I agree with Michele about the tests but I also remember worrying about the same thing as you Rachel, being scanned and checked so throughly you would think they might find something but all was well for me and I was even surprised to hear I am in very good health aside from the BC!

Yes Michele it would be nice to have lunch again, I am now off on Fridays so that would work for me! Maplesoft center is open to making a room available as well... Might be interesting to see if we could use their kitchen and facility!

I am patiently waiting for the Oncotype test and be able to know if I get chemo or not...  I go on the 24th of Feb, next friday.  I was talking to my sister about Tamoxifen and I am uneasy about the fact that she did the 5 yrs and still got another cancer... I'll have to ask the onc about the chances of recurrence even with Tamoxifen, I think that's why they are doing the oncotype and maybe Chimo... So that gives Chemo a little bit of a positive...

I hope we hear from Sandi soon...

    Have a good day ladies!

    Hello

I was recently diagnosed and find the waiting for MRI, meeting surgeon, more tests, really painful. Does anyone know anything about doctor Lorimer in Ottawa. He is the surgeon I am meeting. Thanks

    caro46 Member Posts: 78

    Welcome Daylemannion!

Dr Lorimer did my Mastectomy and I really liked him!  He was very patient with all my questions and uncertainties  Everytime I saw him he was very warm and didn't rush me.  One thing I would suggest is to make sure you write down your questions and check them off as he answers them... My first appointment I was expecting him to tell me what I needed to know and left with many of my questions unanswered... He will answer any question as long as you ask!

Yep... the waiting sucks and there is lots of it... I would say keep expecting to wait and you won't be disapointed... That was/is my mistake, I keep thinking 'ok after this I'll know where I stand" then I'm disapointed and frustrated that I have to wait for another test result or I'm faced with more choices to make etc... Don't mean to be discouraging just realistic! So use this site to vent and get that little push when you need it, it makes things a little easyier!

    Hi all

Rachel….I'm sorry this process is taking so long for you. March 20th must seem like forever for you. Good luck with all the tests. Enjoy your weekend away. It'll be a great distraction.

Welcome Dayle. As Caro said, write down all your questions and bring them with you. Also, be sure to bring someone with you to your appts….a second set of ears really helps. This early time, right after diagnosis, truly is the worst. It's scary and every appointment seems so far away. Sleep may be hard also, but try to get as much as you can. When is your appt with the surgeon?

Michele, that's good u r doing well. When's ur next appt , I see guay every Tuesday. My next one I believe is 11am.

My pants are loose. I was a size 10 before but it was a tight 10 now then hang down, but I can't go into a size 8 as I think it's not going to fit around hips.

I still am wearing my spanks cuz I still feel my abs are a bit swollen. It's calming down a bit....

I asked guay about doing sit ups he said one more week. Ie 6 weeks post diep.

Are u going to post a pic in picture forum of ur new breast

    ?

I don't have an appt until the 28th.  I am now wearing the spanks type panties.  So much better than the binder.  I don't think I will post any photos.  Where do you see such photos.

Oh the dreaded MRI…I just hated it. Had a panic attack. I had an MRI on Nov 7th and met with the surgeon on Nov 18th. Hope you don't have to wait too long.

    How many tests after

MRI before surgery? How long is wait time for surgery after meeting surgeon? Thanks so much everyone.

    Kyta Member Posts: 273

I had no other tests besides the MRI. But the MRI showed an area of concern on the good side, so had to have a biopsy…..which was end of Nov sometime, then had to wait for results (which were good). Surgery was Dec 11. So even with the delay, my surgery was 3 weeks from the date I first met with the surgeon.

Hi all, Surgery is done and I'm on the road to recovery. I feel like calling this, My Breast Cancer Journey..... A Comedy of Errors... Mammo Aug.15, surgery Feb. 8. Well, my hospital stay seemed to follow the pattern. I went to get ready for surgery around 6:20am. At 7:47, I went to nurses station in tears, wondering when they would see me. (yes, they forgot me.) theythen ran through checklist, ed brought my clothes and off to surgery.

As I wheeled in to the OR, it reminded me of Grey's Anatomy, except my team was all female. Awesome. My BS is Dr. Arnaout and PS is Dr. Boyd. They will be teaming together to do breast surgery with immediate recon. They do good work!

I got to my room at 9:45pm and was cared for by sleepytime nurse. She would start to do something, then disappear. She gave me wrong dosage medication (other nurse brought rest). Thank goodness it was just that. After discharging me, they had to track me down, for prescription and appointment.

Every day gets better. My tummy has a big owie. That is where my pain is focused. I've been told not to lift heavier than a full dinner plate for next 4-6 weeks. That's hard to do. I feel either a cramp pull or tug if I overdo it. My chest is sore and I can feel it healing.

So much is happening with everyone. I hope all is going well.

i had my 4th fill today, i told the PS that I wasnt too happy with my stomach after DIEP and I want to be flatter and he said...I can help you with that, but lets sort out the implant first...so that made my day...The DIEP did get rid of a lot of the fat on belly, but the abs above the scar seems more swollen and just seem fatter..he did tell me that its swelling and can take months...

my implant is doing well though........

Sandi - so nice to hear from you finally. I was getting worried. Despite the comedy of errors, it sounds like everything went well with your surgery. Take care and rest up…and no lifting. Happy healing.

Sandi, so glad to see you back.  Now it is time to take care of yourself, and let others take care of you.
