Marybe,  What kind of scheduling is that, where you do your colonoscopy prep on Feb 14?  No eating?  You are disappointing a lot of little chocolates out there.

Marybe - I am so excited to hear your news.  I have been wondering since you posted on Friday and praying lots that the numbers would be good, but they are better than good, they are fantastic......I can imagine the excitement when you got the numbers, it is time to celebrate, think I will go eat a brownie in your honor Laughing.
  •   Colonoscopy and Ensoscopy went fine.....the doctor loved the butt cookies and so did the nurses. I have a hyatial (sp) hernia and mild diverticulitis.  We went to my onco's to deliver cookies to the staff their ( BC ribbons, hearts and brownies) to celebrate my number drop.  I told them I would be back in the afternoon and they said they thought they could do me then and I said Oh, but I was going to lunch and they asked if I could be back by 1:00 so I went downstairs to The Hitching Post where Tim was and told him I would just get something to go so he did also and went back upstairs to the waiting room with me.  They took me back at around 1:10 and I was already accessed from the morning.  I saw a PA this time and told her about the sore place in my leg, just as I had told the doc this morning who did the surgery.   I may have told you how I was worried about getting a blood clot since I have been off the warfarin since last Wed.  The reason being is that I got them when I had my cataracts and also my bunions.   I had voiced my concern about this and asked onco if I should not be doing arixtra or lovenox and he said No, because it might cause bigtime problems if I had a bleeding ulcer or something going on.  So, I was thinking Fine, this will be on your head.

So while getting treatment, he came to look at my leg.....it is not red and is not swollen, but it is sore to touch and warm in one area......however that is the area when I have my very worse  veins and I do mean they are big and bad and ugly and bulging.....they give me the creeps....also have horrible dark blue spider viens in ankle area.....all on Rt leg.  So the onco comes back and he felt and said Couldn't just be happy with good news, had to go find something else, eh? His stab at humor and he was smiling when he said it.   I said Oh, I am thrilled with the news and he told me he has never had such a big drop in such a short time span so I thought that was pretty exciting.  Then he tells me they are going to schedule me for a dopplar and they did and it was at 3:45 today.  So I called Tim on his cell since he had left to go pick up my car which was being repaired for the door on the passenger side that got smashed back in Dec. and he said Sure he would take me.  And guess what?   I have a blood clot....not just a blood clot, but many....all in this one  vein that goes all the way up the back of your lower leg....stapheous maybe?....anyway they are superficial, but one is right where the veins brach off and go deep so this is the one that concerned the tech because it could go deep.   So she called the onco and I am going back for another lovenox shot tomorrow and I went back on a higher dose of warfarin tonight.

So today, I had a colonoscopy, endoscopy, dopplar and treatment and I must admit, my lids are feelin heavy so I am going to bed early.  Oh, and they did tumor markers again....since I worry and think any sort of changes in the way they do things is not a good sign, I am thinking WHY?, Does he think the drop was a fluke, an inacurate test?   So guess I will be bugging them again for  the results of that on Friday....probably will be there to bug them since I will be getting these shots of blood thinner for awhile.

I did do one fun thing today....we went to eat at this nice little Italian place in the college area after leaving the hospital and I broke my bland diet.....had salad (picked out all the tomatoes and onions, pesto pasta and apple pie for dessert.  And then I came home and ate one of my brownies.   Hope your brownie was as good as mine, Jeannie.

Have a good eveing, all.   It's off to sleepy land for me.

ROFL Marybe!  I swear you and I can come up with some of the weirdest things during our 'travel through cancer'... My onc never knows what I'm going to come in with next time.  I'm GLAD they found the clots before something bad happened.  Do they let you give yourself the Lovenox?  You definitely have lots of angels looking over you.  The diverticulitus and Hiatal Hernia are very treatable...  AND NO, those numbers were not a fluke!  You are doing great!

Marybe:  Glad you persisted until they found that clot!  My goodness, after all the good news, you don't want a problem from something like that, which could be serious.

Prayers for you that things just get better and better!

If it's a double-check on those markers, it will feel all the more fantastic when they come back lower a second time.  You're gonna make a believer out of that doc!

  •   Today my other leg was swollen and my ankle puffing out over my shoe so I went to the onco's in the AM when I had a break at work even though my appt was not scheduled until 1:20PM.   They were concerned enough to call my onco at the hospital and set me up for another doppler, which as it turned out was negative to more clots so we are not sure what all this swelling is about.  My INR is only up to 1.3 after being back on the warfarin for two days so I have to keep on getting the lovenex injections until it gets to at least 2.   The good news is I get to go to my friend's MardiGras party in Columbus tomorrow night so they are giving me my shot early morning and on Sunday told me just to get in there before 1:00 and they will give it to me whenever I get there.   And the best news, the very best news of all was that when I was sitting there waiting to see if I had to go for a doppler, if they were going to go ahead and give me the injection or what I sort of casually asked Did my tumor markers happen to come back?   I was actually afraid to ask since I figured the only reason they ran then again so soon (it has only been a week since I got that good report of 4,041) was that they thought it was a fluke.  The onco himself told me he has never seen such a significant drop in such a short time span.   Well, guess what, I am  beating that record even.....the new count is 3,289!!!   Can you believe it!?!!?   That is a drop of almost  800 in a week!!   I may never have been much of a dancer, but I sure am learning to do the Happy Dance.  Many of you have said God is Good and you sure did hit that one right on....God is Good!!  And so are all of you, my wonderful support system.  Love to each and every one of you who have been cheering me on.  My only prayer now is that all of you also get good news.

Now I must get my pralines made so I can go elevate my fat ankle.

    I love Adriamycin!!!!!

Marybe - I am so happy for you and I don't dance but I am dancing for you now and thanks for giving me a really good reason to eat another brownie for you Smile.  About the lovenox shots, can't you give them to yourself and then not have to go to the doctors office?  I have taken them several times but I just administer them myself.  Of course you will probably be done with them before you know it but it is a thought if you ever have to take them again.  Enjoy that party and do all of the dancing you can, and you are so right God is good.   Take care.
