Wow, interesting set of exercises, HomeMom. A few of them remind of Lebed method (which I haven't done in ages,, oops) Seems like you have a great therapist to come up with this!!

Glennie, I'm just getting back to Lebed after a long, kinda lazy slump. Wanna join me?
Hugs,

Excellent techy job, HomeMom!!!
Lebed is an exercise program by Sherry Lebed. I learned about her on here. My LE therapist had never heard of her. She has a stretching routine that seem similar to your program here. She also has a DVD, but it is hard to watch,,, those people are smiling so big,, you have to wonder what drugs they are taking,, and why aren't they sharing???

I tell ya, Binney,,, there are just not enough hours in the day to do it all. Must do Lebed, must do cardio, must do weights,,,,cook, clean, shop, work 40 hours a week. Walk dog, play with dog. Oh, yeah, and sleep!! It is not easy to prioritize for me. I must work,, and cooking good food has taken a priority,, and I have been managing to do my hand weights 3x a week. Walking/feeding the dog is a must. Everything else,,, well,,, don't look at the dust bunnies, OK?

I hear ya, Glennie! And trust me, I'm blind to dust bunnies!
I'm starting with just the 15-minute opening. That alone makes me feel so much better (especially the truncal LE), and it's practically mindless. I turn the volume off and just glance at the screen to make sure I'm keeping up and doing everything in order.
Brava on the hand weights!
Hugs,

HomeMom thanks for posting. I fell off the exercise wagon when my vasculitis flares then my big toe got infected around the nail (still eating antibiotics...) but a week ago started back with the exercise bike every other day. The hopsital gave me post-mastectomy exercises, and my LE therapist gave LE exercises, and I have PT-OMT exercises to strengthen my neck and back support miscles --- but the hurt, so I stopped. Maybe trying out your routine will jumpstart me again because it is something new :

I try to do three to four of these every morning before I get out of bed. It says to do them twice a day, but I go to the gym and get on the elliptical for 60 minutes and I forget to do them again. I have lost 7 lbs since I left my full time job and went back to general real estate, but I have a long way to go imho to get where I want to be (30lbs more!)

I'm about to throw out my underwire bras. Does anyone wear them?? I was told by my OT not to wear them anymore and since then they have felt restrictive to me.

HomeMom I was just thinking about my underwire bras, and I'm sure Goodwill would appreciate getting them...I've also been told not to wear them anymore...Also, trying to imagine being on the elliptical for 60 minutes...Wow, awesome!

Maggerle - thank you! I was told by my 21 year old son though that I have to change up my routine or my muscles will get used to the exercise and I won't get anywhere. I do seem to be stagnant right now as far as weight loss and toning up my body

HomeMom...I'm sure he's right...I'm probably in a rut w/my treadmill...I've been walking on it for years, daily, but I don't change up the incline or speed very much...I actually started doing it for cardio...However, I have a pet sitting biz, so I use lots of different muscles doing this and that...Sometimes I use this and that too much, and it makes my right breast swell...I haven't gotten this whole lymphatic system, exercise, etc. etc. etc. down yet, but I'm sure thankful for this message board...I glean a little something everyday, and then of course there's binney4, who I have crowned The mother of everything cancer/lymphedema and emotional support...There are some very special people on this message board, to be sure...

Just popping in quickly. I'm still here exercising like mad. Up to about four pounds lifting in six months, slow for me due to shoulder injury slow but progressing. As for cardio I am now a cardio machine. Walked off 17 pounds, eat better and there is no going back.
Come on all...lets get this thread going and kick LE in the butt once and for all! My summer challenge is to wind up the exercise as I know summer activities usually make fitness sit on the back burner. Hitting it head on with all i got.
dog looking at me right now with walking eyes!0 -
Hugz, brava for you!!! How encouraging! Summer really does take some special consideration. I've just headed back to daily Lebed exercises (with DH this time), and indoor walking (both at home and early morning at the mall) will have to do instead of getting outside to walk. The Lebed really does help with the LE (and the flexibility)--don't know why it's so easy to let that slip when it feels so good when I keep it up. Grrrrrr!
Anyway, you've just inspired me--thank you! Onward!

good for you Binney. I'm so proud of you for doing your lebeds, I do the opening when I go to the gym

I am closing out my school year and getting ready to head north to Big Bay MI for summer camp again. I definitely get in the walking there, as well as very full days providing therapy for all the campers and having fun hanging out together all summer. See you all on the August side of things.

Enjoy your summer Laural, I bet it's pretty up there in the summer!
We are going on a little cruise to the Bahamas next month - paddle boarding and scuba diving.

Back to walking,,,,, **failed at the hand weights** after months of consistency, I have fallen off the wagon. I'm finding it so hard to do everything that I need to do,, cardio, weights, shop, cook, clean, etc etc and work 40 hours a week. **sigh**

I made a promise on my birthday list that I would walk every day. My birthday was Monday so not to bad. I am also trying a yoga class tonight to see if I can stretch out my muscles. If it works I will join a class. My goal is to lose the 100 pounds I have gained during this process and get really healthy. I'm using My Fitness Pal as a tracker.

I came down with some sort of allergy issue or viral thing and have not been to the gym in two weeks. After 6 days of steroids I'm still coughing so I don't want people to think I'm contagious and coughing all over the equipment. I might go to a PCP and see if I need something else. I went to the walk in last Tuesday. I started Mucinex DM last night Ugh

Hey, all! Need some fresh motivation for getting out there and exercising? (She says as she sits here typing on her computer--aaugh!) Here's a new study showing exercise significantly reduces cardiovascular risk for those of us who are breast cancer veterans. Yes!

There now, I'm off for a brisk half-hour walk. Come join me!

I'm walking one mile a day at this point. Despite the heat!! Hoping to keep this up, as I don't really want to go back to the gym and the dreaded treadmill.

OK all, I need help to. I will be going to gym once a week during summer instead of twice and have joined a group in our gym that is increasing their exercise in the summer at home not the gym. There is about 15 of us and the deal is to get outside and mix it up a little doing more of different activities compared to just going to the gym. I really hate exercising in the sun and this will be a challenge because it gets too hot for me to exercise by 10 am plus I'm not a morning person.Really sorry Binney for complaining about the heat but I can't exercise past 75 degrees. I know your baking your eyeballs out right now. Keep it up, you must be walking in th mall now. I'll be reporting in. I have been gardening many hours everyother day and I can count that, so yeah!
I guess laurel is at camp, active with the kids. Glennie, I'm right proud of you, don't stop no matter what, yes it's great for our heart and everything else.
Everyone else. Step one, step two...you know the drill0
