Yes purple, wear sleeve even if you do not do MLD.  There would be a lot less sleeve wearing if people did not don when they skipped MLD.

Nats--Thinking of you and quick healing.

Yes everyone.  Just do what you can do.  I remember the days when it was hard to get off the couch--especially when I was wrapped.

Went to dam yesterday--beautiful day.  Wish it had been like that on Monday when Tina and I were there!  Logged 5 miles.  My niece is graduating from nursing school at ETSU today so I am going to do weights before leaving.

If you are asking if you should wear a sleeve even if you did not do MLD the answer is yes.

Yes, that was PRECISELY what I was asking...thanks for your  detailed answer!

I certainly didnt and dont plan on skipping , but it's good to know what to do in case.

    hugz

This is strictly out of curiosity, but why no MLD for you, if you don'tt mind  ? Are you convinced Lebeds is as good ? Do you find MLD does not help you or ???>>>>Do you think the tai chi breathers make  a bigger difference ?!
    THX again.

ad an appt in the city on Tuesday and I can't believe I did this but I put on gloves but forgot sleeves!

    hahahhaha Dawne,

I am truly not lauging AT you.  It is laugh or cry time for me . I am just in over my head busy  ...  I guess it feels ' good '  to know someone else is going crazy busy right now. Remember that old saying" You'd forget your head if it wasnt on your shoulders ?!"  It would be good if my sleeve were just strapped on somehow   Surprised

    NEW Q

Darn LE seems to be making a BIG deal out of every little thing!  I get lots of little ' red dots' etc ..on  my skin that go away quickly

Last night, I noticed a tiny little 'pimple' on the affected arm...no biggie.  This A.M. it is itchy so  I put a little cortisone cream on it.  Then I realized , I would soon be putting a sleve over that for at least 12 hrs. Ok, seriously, I am NOT  trying to get out of wearing the sleeve...I really dont mind it that much!  But honestly, is this something I should ignore as I always would have  BEFORE  LE or is it not wise to put a sleeve on an itchy red spot for 12 hrs.?  I just dont know anymore.

    Here is my question:

    What would you do ?

PS  I do not think this is the start of cellulitis, not warm to the touch etc .. and I have been  getting little ' hives' in different areas lately, just  nothing right on the left arm directly where the sleeve goes.

    THX

Purple, my LET told me the best thing I can do for my swelling is wear my sleeve and glove. He told me this was much more important than MLD or anything else. I am not sure if this was particularly for me or if he says it to all his patients. When I see him in January, I will ask.

Thanks for the encouragement. I wasn't really making it a contest, it's that I would like to have more time to exercise. I need to figure out how to fit it in. Maybe try to walk at lunchtime at work or something. I know there are ways if I look hard enough.

Yesterday had to drive an hour and45 minutes each way for an appointment, so did not get to the gym. But when I had my car in seats, I walked the mall for about an hour, so will accept that for yesterday. On my way to the gym now :)

Yesterday I was too sad, simply unable to muster the energy to walk or exercise. It was a day of contemplation for me, just crushed, thinking of what happened in Connecticut. I slept poorly and woke up very early this morning, then decided to make use of the time by doing an hour of Sansone DVD. The exercise made me feel better physically, but still it is hard not to think that my LE problems are such little challenges in this life.

    I know, Carol.

I used to be a teacher.  My husband still is, and he said when the parents came yesterday afternoon they hugged their kids extra long and some were crying.

    So sad.

    Thx Kay

Yeah, it was all I could do to walk from the car to the house after I saw the news.  Managed a few "indoor" miles after supper but was way hard.

Add to that, those idiots at the hospital want to send Mom to Montana for surgery and rehab.  800 miles away?  Really? when she's to frail to travel accross town? Bah.

I see we have been feeling down about the Connecticut shootings. Yes, it is tragic, what a shame and yes we should grieve and respect our larger families that are affected.

I was thinking what would those little kids want from us. Well, I pictured if the kids could comprehend our thread they would tell us to go and run and jump, giggle with them. They would want us to use all their vital energy that they had to sustain us here on the threads. So give your best for them and when you are running and jumping and being carefree remember this is what they would want. Be a kid for a while in honor. If you can't move due to sickness then go doodle a picture, play with a kid, just for them. You'll feel better about the whole situation, That is what they would want.

I am putting on my boots and going to splash in a puddle tomorrow and I won't care if I get wet! Just for them. :)

As a former elementary principal I too was so saddened to hear about the CT shootings.  My niece graduated from nursing school last night and all I could think of was that those little ones would not have the future she has now.  Two other nieces came to stay with me to go to their cousin's graduation so I stayed away from the news all day yesterday.  Went to campus with one niece in the am and we jogged two miles.  It helped to lift the heaviness this event has caused.

Well put!  Thank you . That is just SO very true!  Those little innocents really would think that way.

I will focus on that today. I read one of the news stories.  That was stupid.  They are just too sad and upsetting . The devil is in the details anyhow.  None of it matters now.  Time to skip.

Amen!! Hugz. I am doing the Advent thought this morning and its the candle of "joy". The kids would be joyful this time of year, so I need to feel that Joy in my heart today. I know how hard it is to feel that joy when bad things happen but we need to support and move on for all the others around us. I hope that makes sense? It is a day of puddle jumping for me too!

Today I did a Sansone DVD and some incidental walking, for 4.7 miles total and a good, heart-raising workout. I wore a new sleeve/gauntlet that actually fits (grrr..learned that my earlier ones were always too big!!) and wow, what a difference on how my arm felt after the workout.  Also slept last night for the first time ever in a Solaris Tribute, so double wow, because I woke up without my typical arm ache!   I continue to be amazed at how LE can feel so uncomfortable, even when the eye sees absolutely no swelling.  I was hesitant for a long time to get a night garment, because it seemed somehow over-kill with LE that is felt but not seen.  One night is not much of a trial, but I'm pretty enthused about the possibility that I can reduce my symptoms during my sleep.

carol57 - So are you just trying it out or do you have one?  How did you go about getting it?  Glad it helped.

Dawne-Hope, I asked my doctor to write a prescription for a night garment, and then I worked directly with Luna Medical, a DME dealer. They pre-cleared it with my insurance company, fitted me, and placed the order.  It came in the other day, and I picked it up yesterday.  I'm lucky to have pretty good insurance, because these things are pretty spendy.  I don't expect a miracle cure, but I'll be very happy if it reduces my symptoms, which for me, are mostly a near-constant ache.

Ah Carol--My Solaris Tribute vest and sleeve should be here next week.  I cannot wait!  I am so tired of having to wrap the jovipak  sleeve since it is too big and having to wear the huge breast swell spot under a bra at night as you saw me do at NLN.  Tina brought hers last week so I could see what I am getting. I am happy it helps your aching.  If I go without garments I ache also.

Going to do errands today so may not get any cardio in.  Will do a lot of walking though.  Rain and thunderstorms here today. My trunk does not like thunderstorms!

Went shopping in an outlet mall yesterday, so got some walking in, but not fast moving. Better than nothing, and I think I am done shopping! Wore my tribute yesterday and I am not a achy this morning! Don't know why I can't seem to make it a habit because it does make a difference for me too with how my arm feels, and also the swelling.

Speaking of sleeves that fit tighter and the like, I know this is a little OT ( but where else to post ?)  but  my low BP symptoms and very poor circ. have gotten much worse lately . I am starting to wonder if my compression sleeve is impacting that.

( long ago, I used to wear compression stockings for the low BP but stopped afer  I decided, along with my DR, to try salt loading instead.)

No more salt loading with LE and no  compression stockings for years now. I dunno'. Feet are like ice at all times. Dont really want my BP taken because I have  alot of achiness in the ;' good arm' and am concerned about bi-lateral.

I am starting to see myself in sleeve, glove, stockings, compression tank for truncal..........

Yikes! I wish I knew what to tell you. My BP tends to be low any way, and now I am on a beta blocker and ace inhibitor for heart damage from herceptin, so I get light headed when I stand up too quickly. And I am cold more, didn't know that had anything to do with low BP. It's always something, isn't it Purple? Hope someone might be able to give you some info.

I am on a beta blocker and ace inhibitor.

    Thanks, Kay.

Yes, walking used to help with the cold/ poor circulation but not now, and I am dragging anyhow.

I was in a beta blockler for tachycardia (due to the low BP ironically) and I used to take Gatorade ( Powerade ZERO to avoid sugars ) V8 for high sodium and add salt to food, but LE put a stop to all that .

    GMA
Watch that salt . No sleeves ?  Bad combo, my friend!
Start over today. No added salt, do MLD and get that sleeve on and git walkin' Laughing

Spashed in a puddle, also my sis picked me up and rock and roll poured out of her car. As I approached the car I started dancing my butt off, smiling, singing out loud, while thinking this is what a kid would do. I did it in honor for our wee ones. I know that they would have been smiling at a 50 something doing this. It was fun too... being a kid again!

Doing tai chi breather, I like it. It's so easy and not timeconsuming so I tend to forget....and have to remind myself!

Haven't walked a long walk since Friday.....Spank me!

Get out and walk, Hugz!  (And I am mighty impressed that you rocked and rolled in public!!)

I woke up too early today and could not go back to sleep, so I decided to carpe diem and take care of the exercise first thing in the day.  Did Sansone again, '3 fast miles,' only energized by coffee as I was, I literally jogged in place through the whole 35 minutes or so instead of doing the walking, size steps, knees up, kicks, etc. Made me breathe! I'm not sure what possessed me to do this, but I will say that it really revved up the cardio benefit.  Also went to the gym today and lifted weights and did lots of stretches, an hour or so in total.  I need to work in Lebeds today.

Did a brief  MLD this AM ( figured that's got to be better than skipping) and wore the sleeve and glove.

I waked for about 40 mins this afternoon/indoors, but the feet are still cold.

Plan to do a longer session of MLD tonight.

MLD and Lebeds this morning, 30 minute treadmill run this evening.  Stitches from the removal of that old suture came out today, so I plan on wearing my tribute vest/sleeve combo tonight.  That abscess really caused my truncal LE to flare.  I'd gained 5 pounds in 2 weeks for no earthly reason except LE, and it was all around my middle.  I felt miserable and I couldn't even wear my normal pants.  Since Tuesday's surgery, I've dropped 3 pounds already, again all from around my middle, and I can wear my normal pants again.

Yes, I will hugz/ promise Wink ...much easier to do a long slow session while on the couch watching a  TV show before bed. It';s almost relaxing, if I didnt think of it as a "must do "!  Its that getting reday for work in the AM that  gets hectic.

So I went on vacation two weeks ago, came back sick last week, and got old(er) today.

Been doing MLD and getting lots of steps. Back on track tomorrow with my personal trainer.  My arm has been pretty happy. All is well/
